Computer Setup to root G3 - Hardware Hacking General

I tried posting this in Q&A but got no response. Not sure where to post it so I'm trying here.
I have a Dell Latitude D830 running Win7 Pro. It has a SSD and 3gb RAM so it's not too slow.
What I'd like to know is is there a good tutorial on setting up the computer to root my LG G3?

First you need to get temporary root access, follow this link
http://theunlockr.com/2010/10/20/how-to-root-the-t-mobile-g2-htc-vision-visionary-method/
Then follow this link and the instructions on how to get permanent root access.
http://theunlockr.com/2010/11/30/how-to-gain-permanent-root-and-s-off-on-the-t-mobile-g2-htc-vision/
This is how I rooted my G2 when I had it. After, you can follow the tutorials on how to load custom ROMs.
Always remember to do a nandroid backup before flashing anything on your phone.
Thanks to theunlockr.com.
Good luck!

if he has the latest ota, he needs to follow the whole downgrade, root, s-off process in the g2 dev section.
use the built in search on xda to find it.
True, my G2 had Android 2.2 when I rooted; since then it got the gingerbread update.

On an unrelated note, though, I totally used theunlockr to root my phone ;D although gfree was highly recomended shortly afterwards, I never ran into any problems, which I thought was cool xD VIRTUAL HIGH FIVE BRO!
I rooted my G2 by following the cyanogenMod wiki. It's really easy to follow and it worked like a charm. Even my myTouch 4g used the exact same procedure. If you are on gingerbread firmware you will need to downgrade. Guide for that is here and then root the phone with this guide here. From then on you can flash any rom you'd prefer.
I have op 2.3 this hard I don't under stan how to down grade I have down load adb in windows 7 when I put the files on sd and I pull cmd out and put the codes in I get nothing so how do I run adb is the any other way to down grade and get root easy

You could pay a rooting service.

Root lg g2 with Linux?

So been searching and searching and really hope I don't have to put windows on my computer for this to be done. Sprint varient but I'm pretty sure some other Linux users out there are wondering the same.
Not new to xda or android. But I've always had nexus phones and was always able to use the OEM unlock in terminal. seeing how this was a free phone I said **** it. I like the phone itself but the software is ass. All the bloat is ridiculous didn't know you guys had this mucvh crap on your phones. ( nexus no bloat).
Anybody willing to point me In the right direction or we can figure this **** out together no problem hooking someone up with logcats and ****.

kidrobot52,
This is relevant to my interests.
I haven't gotten my phone yet, but root, cwm etc using Linux would be awesome. Otherwise a method that doesn't require a computer at all would be even better.
From what I've read you're going to need the drivers and they are Windows only, but if you had success doing root with your method, please describe it to us. :fingers-crossed:
Compass.
So I rooted my lg on a friends PC. But is still want to know if this works. Being that ioroot also works rooting the sprint galaxy tab 3 I'm going to try and rooot it on Linux that easy if I **** up I still have my phone. Lol but if it works correctly I will unroot my lg g2 and try rooting it again in Linux. I'll report back tonight my findings.

I downloaded ioroot13.zip from the link below, and it has a linux script. :good:
http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G2/
Searching xda's forums nobody mentions that drivers are necessary for rooting with Linux.
Compass.
Well that sent new into multiple boot loops. Must've been something I did trying again. On my lg when I go into download mode it gets stuck at firmware update do not unplug USB. And stays at 0 so I'm baffled.
A side note if never needed drivers for my phone on Linux. But then again I come from nexus devices.

No need to install any driver.
However, you need to configure your system to recognize LG Phones so ADB will be able to list it
Check how to do it on android development site. Search for 'Using Hardware Devices'
Cheers

I got it working as you mentioned.
The major issue I had was that the ioroot I was using didn't detect my phone.

Indeed you don't need drivers for Linux.
I configured udev in my box to detect my phone but I'm not certain that is really necessary.
If you type "./adb devices" and get as output "<serial number> device", your phone has been detected.

[Request]Wireless storage

Can someone port wireless storage to Cloudypro II (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2680745)
Funny I just uploaded the APK here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2681527
See if it works.
It should be in /system/app
There might be some system UI tweaks to get it into the "Settings" app. Perhaps you can install it and create a custom homescreen shortcut to enable/disable?
Haha that's funny I just had finished doing this and then saw thread. I was running stock KitKat and bad backed up wireless storage with TiBu I restored it on cloudypro and used nova to create a shortcut/activity to it. Seems to be working fine
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk
i dont know what i've done wrong. Shortcut in settings has appeared, like in stock , but it doesnt work. When i try to turn off wireless storage it automatically restarts, so i cant turn it off. And my pc cant go to \\192.168.0.73
I tried to use apk from OptimusRs Pro 2 Rom For LG G2 V3 , but i had the same result

I'm actually back just on stock KitKat but all I did was restore the backup from titanium backup of wireless storage from stock KitKat ROM on cloudypro and using nova launcher created a shortcut to it. Enabled it navigated with PC to IP and worked. I can upload the apk if youd like but I imagine its the same as what is already here?

did you actually use it? or just check the menu in setting. if it worked and you used it it would be great to upload you Titaniumbackup file not just the apk
You can found in Play Store dude !
I haven't seen anything in the play store that was remotely close. Most apps use a webpage to act as a file explorer. Can't network share directly.

Go into /system/app, find LGquickRemote.apk and rename it to LGquickRemote.bak. (or uninstall it. I prefer renaming it so if something goes wrong you can restore.)
Then, reboot into recovery and flash the v8 Quick Remote zip in this thread.
That should work.
EDIT: APK is called LGquickremote.apk I think.
Had to delete lgremote.odex also to get it to work or else I got force close .
Thank you very much
