How many Celsius xperia z3+ reach in normal use(xperia z3+ users) - Xperia Z4/Z3+ General

We know that normal for sd801 or sd805 is 35~45 Celsius in normal use

I arrived at 60 degrees in simple surfing with Google chrome-plate in 20 minutes
I returned him, not possible!

61c on a few of the cores while surfing in Chrome. I have a V4 on the box.

60 degree !!
Comparing to htc one m9 with same processor not more than 45http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/help/how-celsius-htc-one-m9-reach-normal-t3159747

Was 45 on normal use 5deg more than z3 and i think thats normal since it runs 8 core vs 4 cores of z3

guys. this device is waterproof & super thin in its class. no air hole. u really need to compare with other crappy phones?

I am browsing chrome and a message board app and average at around 45c.
It was worse on launch. Though that could all be in my head.

Its basically just 5c hotter than my Z2 when browsing Facebook or Chrome not that big offa deal to me. Also after using Playmemories Mobile with my QX30 my Z2 used to be hotter than my Z3+ was. The phone is razor thin, packs some of the best internals, combines glass and metal and is waterproof just like Monx said. You need to expect some heat with this configuration.
It has definitely gotten better now 2 weeks since I got it. It usrd to heat up to 60 while just opening Chrome today not so much.

Google Nexus 6P with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor but which version?

What I was wondering that which version of Snapdragon 810 Huawei has used in Nexus 6P?
An updated version without heat problems or the same old 810 with overheating issues?
Sony Xperia Z5 uses the SD810 but it looks like it still has heat issues.
Can anyone confirm which version it has?

It uses SD 810 v2.1 and it does have fast charging
According to the Oneplus 2 review from XDA, the 810 v 2.1 still overheats/throttles, so this Nexus could still have problems, since this one's not even downclocked. Hopefully it doesn't, and the aluminum body could help with heating issues. I preordered one, so if reviews come out before it's processed and problems still arise from 810, I might have to cancel. Hoping for the best though!

As said above. It has the 810 V2.1. The original snapdragon 810 is the version 2.0. The 2.1 is slighlty faster and throttles less. However it's still got a reputation for heat issues as shown by the old Xperia z3+ and an anandtech article. The z5 also uses the 2.1 but uses a new dual copper pipe cooling system. I read a hands on by Engadget and they said it didn't have issues during their short time with it but we won't know until the reviews come out. It's possible they have done some heavy duty cooling modifications.
Looks like this will be the first Nexus that I skip.
Unfortunately, looks like I'll probably be skipping as well..The fact that they didn't really cover the processor at all suggest that they probably had issues with it. Or they would have at least said something generic like "And it comes with a fully optimized SD 810V2.1 64 bit processor."

And according to another article and multiple successive benchmark runs, it doesn't.
That's why I got it - v2.1 took care of the heat.
There are plenty of articles to Google the heat issues are non factor unless you happen to buy a moto pure. Plenty of heat issues and battery drain from a crappy GPU over there.

The gpu is the same on all snapdragon 810 socs. I would guess most people wouldn't notice any heat issues in normal use. Maybe if you are playing 3d games or benchmarking. It also really depends on the cooling used. The xperia z3+ had issues recording 4k. While the new z5 with the same soc has no problems due to cooling. I would guess Google did some good stuff in terms of cooling. Additionally qcom said nearly all 810s that made it into production devices are the V2.1 including the m9. I'm not sure if that's from the start though. There's also undervolting which can help too. I wouldn't worry too much. It seems like all the newer 810 devices have taken actions to keep it cooler.
Edit:
moto x pure is actually snapdragon 808 not 810
The pure uses the 808.
As for heat and performance
https://www.androidpit.com/snapdragon-810-vs-808-is-8-cores-really-better-than-6
The pure gets hot just trying to push chrome and maps can drop battery by 1/3 in an hour. Serious issues and if you under clock the performance issues become even more serious. Great phone for people that don't use it. As for me I'll take the Big P.
I have the OPT and it still gets warm. Much better with ak kernel but on stock, it gets real warm but not burn your hands off hot.
Read some information by a reviewer said they couldn't get the phone hot or get it to throttle.
The big aluminum body dissipates heat.
AFAIK It uses S810 V3.

If anything, you'll feel more heat on a metal body and a glass backed body than a plastic body!

Well its a double edged sword. If my thinking is correct the metal, being a better conductor, will pull more heat away from the inside of the phone and dissipate it to the outside. That unfortunately means the device will actually feel hotter, but the internals would be cooler. Again that's just my two cents. I think of it sort of like a heatsink. The heatsink gets hot, but the SOC itself is cooler. Maybe I'm wrong though.

You're right, but the issue then is heat dissipation from the metal body. If you have it in a case, you're trapping the heat more as opposed to leaving the metal back bare and feeling the heat in your hands!
but according to people in articles that have used it. there is no heat, right? so we are safe and good to go? Right folks? ??

Heat in Z5 Premium

Hi guys
I'm thinking of buying a Z5 Premium or the normal Version coming from a Note 4 before that
I wanted to ask how your experience is with the z5 Premium how is heat with the device I heard the snapdragon 810 did a lot of problems with other devices. How is battery hold up,please tell me about your overall experience with the device
The heat on my Z5 is more or less the same as my old Z2.
With exactly the same usage, my Z3+ heats a lot worse compared to my new Z5 Premium (an obvious example is when I install many apps at the same time, Z3+ will be very hot in such a short time while Z5 Premium will stay a bit warm).

This phone gets hot as Hell! Honestly I just started setting up a few apps on it and a custom background. All while streaming xm radio and keeping my screen" on live wallpaper with my old zultra. Both screens were at half brightness, however this z5p def. Runs much hotter! The battery it's also pretty disappointing. One of the main reasons I purchased it was got the larger mah's, but it seems to be draining just as fast as my old phone. I haven't even fully charged out yet so hopefully after a few cycles it'll improve!
The demo versions ive used got warm only when playing games or using the camera
Aside that a freinds Z5 was always hot but both her and I have had heating issues but this was because of google photos and after removal found that my device ran alot cooler vs hers strangely being warm constantly
I plan on buying my self this phone soon as ive seen alot of reviews saying that although having a Snapdragon 810 it doesnt get as hot as expected
I've only noticed heat:
When watching 4k videos
Playing games
Installing multiple apps
Downloading big files.
And tbh the heat isn't that bad it worries me, just warm to the upper definition of the word.
Sent from my E6853 using Tapatalk
the heat issue is known by Qualcomm Snapdragon company who made this octa core 810 processor they confirmed that heat issue is due to their cpu so atm there is no way to solve this yet :/ but i do say z3 did heat more than z5 premium.

My Xperia Z5 review (After 3 months of usage)

Hey there guys I am going to write a simple but very honest review of the Xperia Z5 after owning the device for a little over 3 months. Everything I talk about will be given a score from 1 to 5, 1 being not great and 5 being amazing.
So to start, I purchased the phone in the UK (Belfast is my hometown) and I went with the gold colour. So far the phone has held up very well in terms of durability. The gold colour was definitely my favourite as I was able to get a look at all colours, my decision was either the Green or Gold and I am glad I went with the gold as believe it or not it does get quite a bit of attention! The only thing i'm not so confident in with this colour is the nylon corners look a different shade of gold to the metal frame which looks more of a copper when certain light is on it. However it doesn't bother me too much so I'm still very happy with my colour choice!
For design I would give this phone a 4 out of 5 with the nylon corners being a different colour just edging it out of the perfect 5.
The display on this phone is absolutely fantastic, has to be up there with some of the best displays i've ever seen on a smartphone. Colours are very vibrant and blacks are very deep, with Sony's X Reality engine the screen just pops.
Display gets a solid 5 out of 5 for me.
Software has been quite hit and miss for me, when it was on 5.1.1 Lollipop it was fine with some issues e.g. Auto brightness bug and random bluetooth disconnects with my Moto 360. When I finally got the Marshmallow update it fixed most of the bugs but however I am seeing a problem when I am using the BSP10 Bluetooth Speaker it seems to be skipping a lot when playing music and I am not sure why. Could be a simple fix but i'm not sure!
Software gets a 3 out of 5 just for random bugs and the bluetooth issue.
Performance again with software has been a hit and miss, with the Snapdragon 810 on board the phone powers through almost anything you throw at it, for about 30 minutes at most then the heat issue happens and the phone has to thermal throttle the processor however if just doing simple tasks i.e. Browsing the internet, using Facebook, Youtube etc the phone handles it like a dream.
Performance gets a solid 4 out of 5 for me just with the heat issue not getting it the 5 out of 5.
Battery life has been great on some days and absolutely horrible on some other days. I'm usually averaging 2.5 hours SOT on this phone even after the marshmallow update, best SOT i've had on this is about 4 hours but that was with very light internet browsing. When gaming and the phone gets warm the battery drains like nothing i've seen before, a game I usually play is Geometry Dash and if the phone is on 100% after about 20 minutes its down to about 90% which seems very high battery drain for 20 minutes of usage.
Battery life is a 3 out of 5 just to inconsistent battery performance.
Camera is very good on this phone....if you set it up right. If using the Superior auto mode its hard to get a good shot in my own opinion. The macro focus is very bad too! You have to be a right big of distance away and there still isn't much detail! However take the phone and get a good landscape shot and the camera performs excellently. For landscape photos it's definitely the best camera i've used on a phone.
Camera is a 4 out of 5 just due to the macro focus function.
Overall I love the Sony Xperia Z5, its well designed, the camera is awesome, the audio quality is pretty good, the fact that it's waterproof just gives you a bit more confidence if it gets wet you don't have to worry about it! Yeah there are some niggles with the phone but really everything nowadays had pros and cons! But I would say if you're looking for a well designed, good phone the Z5 is a solid choice!
Hope this review helps some potential buyers! Thanks.

Mine actually worked better in Lollipop rather than Marshmallow, it worked almost every single time I used it however since Marshmallow it does get a lot of misreads.
Good review. I would give similar scores. However, when I first got this phone with Lollipop i was having major issues, battery was horrible, overheating issues, and some other bugs were ruining my experience. When I got MM it seemed everything just magically fixed up (Although I later found out much of my battery woes were due to my Universities WiFi).
Now I have excellent battery life and I can easily get around 4 hrs SOT and sometimes 5+ hrs SOT with the battery lasting me on average 1.5-2 days. Further, I find no more overheating issues and even with extended usage the phone does gets warm, but never hot. Although I don't play graphic intensive games.
I am so happy with my Z5 atm. One of the best phones I have ever owned.

I personally see no major difference in fingerprint reading between LL and MM. When I first upgraded to MM i did notice a slight increase in the speed and reliability, but after a few weeks, its pretty much is the same. usually its very quick and reliable, but there is that odd few occasions where it just doesn't recognize my finger.
Yes, the same, after upgrading to MM, fingerprint unlocking was noticable fast, but after some time, like it just get worste.
Also the same for heating, my everything was fine at the begining, but after it just get warmer for some reason, and i am on last update.

This is really bad from Sony. Marketing a phone for having the best camera yet people cannot use for more than a few minutes before it crashes.

heats even after Nougat
Hey guys!
I bought Xperia X three days ago through flipkart at very good discount. Updated it to Nougat immediately. May 2017 patch is also installed now.
The problem is ... clicking few random 23 MP or 20 MP pictures would heat the phone up (heat not warm!!!) Like i cannot take it near to my ear to take the call. Had to hold it a bit away from my ear. This was in the morning at around 11 am where the temperature at my place was around 38 to 43 deg celsius.
Then to test when i was in office (where there is AC), i started recording video (full hd at 30 fps). After around 2 to 3 minutes, the phone started heating up. The heat was not like it was in the morning but was 15% lesser.
I installed an app now on my phone and it shows 40 degree celsius. Nothing is running in the background, just the app and mobile data enabled (4g and volte).
So is there any solution for this heating problem or is it a known thing?
Please help me coz i have 7 more days to return the phone but i am half hearted to lose it.
Dont even know which phone to chose to other than iphone which never saw heating issue in the circumstances mentioned above. iphones are a bit pricey..cant go for it

Slow gaming compared to Samsung Galaxy S6

To be honest I'm a little underwhelmed with the gaming speed of the XZ.
I only play one game, its a game in KIK called Galatronvs which is a basic Shootemup.
And to be honest , it is REALLY LAGGY on the XZ compared to the S6......The S6 stays smooth , doesn't judder, doesn't pause, doesn't jump.
All these things happen on the XZ as the game gets busier and there are more bullets and ships on the screen..ultimately i die because its becomes a slide show.
After reading all the articles about the Snapdragon 820 and the Adreno 530 I feel more than a little bit down that my two year old S6 with an Inhouse Mali-T760MP8 outperforms it.
Don't get me wrong, in day to day use it's a dream to use..I don't know what it is about Samsung that their hardware is so good but it translates so badly on software that using the phone feels like work rather than fun, even Swiftkey runs like crap on the Samsung.
I haven't tried any other phones yet, but my friend has just gotten a Google Pixel XL and he's going to let me install Kik and have a 30 minute game next week.
If it lags as well, I'd have to say either the Adreno 530 isn't all that good, or the game is terribly optimised.
Either way , at the moment I'm underwhelmed by my Platinum flagship phone gaming experience.

I really only play the one game called Galatronvs via the instant messaging app KIK.
my phone is unlocked, rooted and still on MM 39.0.A.3.30 because i want to still use Xposed Framework.
I don't use any stamina settings at all , they are always turned off, nor do i use any power saving apps such as greenify.
I don't even use a kernal control program that will let you route more processes into a single core thus saving battery.
Bluntly put, the phone is running at full speed with no power saving.
I would imagine unless you've moved from a different phone to your XZ and play the same games you wouldn't notice the difference..Also it would very much depend on the kind of game.
Any game thats not already pushing the old phone isn't going to show any difference on the XZ is it.
Galatron is an upwards scrolling shootemup that gets increasingly more difficult, more bullets , more ships ...thats when you notice the difference ..only when it really starts to get busy.
So i dunno, Guess I'll have more of an idea when i try the Pixel XL with the 821 and the Adreno 530...Though technically the 821 isn't supposed to impact gaming, just multitasking , better power usage etc.
I'll be spewin bickies if its much better , I really don't want the Pixel..it's a little too small and the XL is a little too big  ... And i hate using a phone without Xposed which i can't do with N

I compared the games with mate 9 for example,i think it is more fluid than mate 9. I ONLY use for games android N ,because android N on xz is much better than M in overall (battery and performace in particular). I think your version of firmware is the less optimized and old. What do you use xposed in particular? I have z2 and there i use often xposed. But on xz i stay so good with android n and latest firmware. And i don't care actually for root and xposed. Is fully stock.
I think you might be experiencing the same thing as me. This happens on all of the Xperia devices I've owned (Z2 Tablet, Z3, Z3C, and Z5.). My XZ is on order, and I'll be sure to test this again. Yes, benchmarks have about the same high scores as all the other flagships, but 3D games stutters on Xperia devices. I think most users are not able to notice it. Hardcore FPS PC gamers like myself would notice this easily.
Here's a thread I created on the Z3 forums a while back: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/help/stuttering-games-t2949670 . There's a video in there with my Z3 and LG G2 playing Riptide GP 2.
I just learned to live it with since gaming is not my priority on my phone, and because I don't like all the other phones.
Honestly I'm not a hardcore gamer, I only play the one game Galatronvs via the KIK APP, it's basically a BOT game which is a downwardly scrolling shootemup... However you do compete online against other players.
And I've confirmed it's definitely a heat issue.
Sadly Sony were supposed to have solved their heating issues with the release of the snapdragon 20...but they haven't.
I can actively connect the lagginess of the game directly with the heat of the phone, the ambient heat of the room, and that you can feel the phone getting hotter and hotter in direct relation to how laggy it gets.
I've even been in the middle of a laggy game with the phone feeling very hot and deliberately moved in front of an air cooler with the back of the phone directly in the path of the cool air and had the lagging start to recede as the phone cools down.
I was given an opportunity to try a pixel xl on the same game in an air conditioned room and they were similar.
Then I went outside in the summer heat and the pixel stayed smooth, the Sony rapidly heated up and started to lag.
When you exit the game the Sony stays laggy for about 6 to 7 seconds.. I imagine this is as it cools down.
I love Sony phones, I love that they stick with standard HD screens for good battery life.
I love that they stick with the 5.2" screen... I don't have huge hands.
SwiftKey seems to work better on a Sony than on a Samsung definitely that's for sure.
Though to be honest I am always a little let down by Sony's cameras on their own phones.. It's like they make better lenses for everybody else.
The Samsung will focus INSTANTLY on something small and upclose... Like say... A windows 7 sticker (I'm a computer tech)... Whereas I have quite a lot of difficulty getting the Sony to focus up close.
I've just ordered a oneplus 3t which I'll root and put similar xposed framework modules and compare it to the XZ.
I'll update this for anybody that's interested.
let me say something about these issues...i had xperias before and now i own XZ wich i thought that it wouldnt have overheating problems like on the z5 but it still has some wierd isuues...for example:i ran a game and even when it got hot it worked smoothly and i was surprised and i sad well done sony or Qualcom LOL...so i was feeling happy and after 2 or 3 weeks of usage i get random lags even if the phone is just a little bit warm with no intence gaming yet but somehow the phone works good when its hot but lags when its cooler...this is so wierd...i dont know anymore whats going on with there phones but im seriously thinking of not buying xperia phones again...a guy at waranty sad to me that this is not overheating but its just heating and its up to sony and not them OMG.... i was so angry when he replied me in that way, that i was in the mood to hit that guy strait on the nose really.these phones are not cheap and im not letting them making me a fool.but at the end they will get me back becouse im a Sony fan and also love there design language...sick bastards
Even though I'm a huge nerd, I really did avoid smart phones.. Or even mobile phones for a long long time.. I hated the idea that somebody could contact me no matter where I was.. I didn't get my first smartphone till March 2012.
That was the Samsung Galaxy nexus now more commonly known as the Google nexus.
After that I got an LG G2 and a week later I bought a Sony Z1... And the very first thing I noticed was that even though the LG g2 and the Z1 were based on the same SOC... The Z1 felt vastly superior to use.. It felt faster and more responsive... But i ended up using the LG g2 due to its amazing battery life.
After that I got a Z3 which also had fantastic battery life and I kept that for numerous years till the Z3+ came out.
That was a bad decision.. I was an early adapter.. I wish I'd waited.
So I got an S6 edge.
Worst phone EVER.... The middle of the screen is so unresponsive.. That curve does not make perfect contact with the digitizer or whatever is underneath it.
So I got a S6 flat version... And still a terrible phone experience... Honestly the technology in Samsung phones is amazing... It's like their memory technology is twice as fast as the competition.
It's like comparing a computer with a hard drive to one with an SSD, but they're just let down by poor implementation of software.. It's hard to explain.
I love haptic feedback.. I can't type on a phone without it.
The Z1's haptic feedback was so amazing you could practically hear it across the room if you turned it up.. And if you kept pressing a button fast it's like it would set up a constant vibration..
Same for the Z3+, the Z3 had pretty average feedback as does the XZ I'm writing on now.
However the S6 has the worst feedback I've ever used on a phone.. It's a very high frequency.. It makes typing on the phone unpleasant, it makes using the navigation buttons unpleasant.. The S6 has issues with SwiftKey, yet SwiftKey worked flawlessly on the LG g2, Z1, Z3, Z3+ and the XZ.
So I've not really had that many brands of phones.. That's why I'm giving the Oneplus 3t a go... I've given Sony my loyalty and been burnt twice now.
I'm a big fan of notification lights so I won't go HTC since their too cheap to put a decent light in... And they hide it in the speaker grill.
I wish phone reviewers would review notification lights and feedback... There's more to a phone than how fast it launches a program or what the launcher looks like... There's how it "feels" to use as well.
Just my two cents worth on my thread.

Thanks for that info. I'll be sure to test for heat problems when I receive mines. Now I fear that I may have two problems when it comes to gaming, suttering and heat LOL.
I haven't had any heat problems with my current Z5 though. The only time was when recording in 4K during a heat wave (around 95F).
Meh the play store is still full of *****y games that weren't even optimised for the adreno 530, the phone has no fault, the 530 destroys not only the competition(in the same category), but especially older mobile GPUs, ask the dev to use his fingers to make a proper app, the XZ has no fault.
I play EA sport - UFC game (i think this is a first-classe game for smartphone, close to PS3 games graphic and textures!!!)
i see lag when conect charger and play this game... this is normal for any phone when actived soc thermal controll (I have galaxy S6 before XZ too!)
any phone have good performance in gaming is "iPhone" but i am ok with freedom in android platform
* sorry for my bad english...
i test some apps i don't if it s the case or not but most games are developed by unity3d!
they are fine on other phones! on xperia this is the similar issue between games that slowing down

Either way , at the moment I'm underwhelmed by my Platinum flagship phone gaming experience.

sometimes im playing game in my xz but i dont have really issue in heating or laggy (my phone have nougat version)
maybe your issue because you are in MM, lets try to nougat.
or use custome rom.
I received my XZ (F8331) a few days ago. I don't seem to be experiencing any heat issues when it comes to gaming. Also the stuttering I mentioned for Xperia devices is now almost gone. It's still there, but it's so little that it doesn't bother me anymore.
I've only played 3 games so far:
Skyforce Reloaded
Riptide GP Renegade
Asphalt Extreme
Running the Stability Test app from the Play store, the XZ does throttle down much much sooner than my Z5 (the Z5's heatpipes seems to work really well), but that app puts all CPU cores on full load.
I'm curious about this game Galvatronvs you're playing. I'd like to see if it runs the same on my XZ. Could you point me in the right direction to download this game?
need for speed no limits lag like hell

Hello ,
No problem here , i have try now about 30 minutes and no lag
Check my videos:
Recored the screen:
1:
2:
Okey i test with "game benchmark"
And no difference between S6 and XZ in game frame rate...
Asphalt8: get 30fps in both devices.
Zombi Highway 2: get 60fps in both devices.
From that test you find:
1) some games locked in lower frame rate, or bad optimized. (asphalt lock on 30fps, zombi highway lock on 60fps)
2) android use "vsync" lock the hardware for limitted fps. Adreno 530 is more powerful then mali T760 (and T880 too!). but there are some software limitations.
3) limited adreno 530 result: gpu not need all his power for reach to 60fps. In my Xperia XZ gpu never reach to 60% load, because not need more load for recive to 60fps.
4) from number#3: none overheating feel when compared with my galaxy s6! s6 need more gpu load for reach to 60fps and gpu core loading heat up the device.
5) unlock software limitations needs custom kernels, and risk of overheating and hardware damage! You don't need more than 60fps for mobile gaming.
6) bad news: Snapdragon 808 can reach to 60fps easily. You can only see "hardware war" between companies. When older SoC can do perfect the end-user works!
