[Q] Help a newbie root android head unit - Android Head-Units

Hello,
I have been trying to root my android head unit but had no luck. I am a massive newbie and not done this before, but the unit I recently bought (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P7G82TS?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00) this unit and it just isnt very good. The few things I want to achieve by rooting are: improve boot speed (if possible), increase volume (I have installed Volume+ from the marketplace and it does nothing at all), set default applications.
I have tried: kingoroot which gets to 95% then just restarts and nothing happens, and I have tried Rootmaster 2.1 which just sits there and does nothing as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660662.
MCU: MTCB-KLD-V2.30
Model: S07
Android Version: 4.4.4_23012015
Kernel: 3.0.36+
Is anyone able to help me out - point me in the direction of a programme how to root it?
Any help would be massive appreciated
Thank you

Have a good read at the first post on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660662 and will clear most of your questions. For the root thin especifically, you need to flash a ROM that's already rooted since you're using Android 4.4. G owith Malaysk's ROM and make sure to download the version for your CPU which is RK3066.
You should be good to go after reading that but come back if you have more questions.

I am in the same boat.
I would like to root the current one, before flashing another rom, because I don't want to lose the current one, just in case.
If I flash it before, I will lose the current one, as I haven't seen out there.
Rootmaster doesn't work for me too.
Can anyone help.

If your stock ROM is 4.4 there's no other known way. Just give Malaysk's ROM a try and you can alway flash the stock ROM back if you don't like it.

Malaysks rom has worked perfectly. thank you

I want to start over

Hey everyone!
I've been lurking here for a while, and I've been very impressed with the roms that have emerged, and particularly the work of Pika, without whom my phone would no doubt be rather boring.
I've made mistakes, nearly bricked my phone, lost my IMEI, overclocked it too far, all sorts of fun stuff that usually turns out to be the best way to learn new things.
Currently, my phone works fine, but I've got an itch, as I often get with computers, to wipe everything and start again, to make it as fast as possible.
This is my current setup:
Model: U8800pro
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: 404029
Kernel version: 3.0.8-perf-g4fc0f23 [email protected] #1 Tue Oct 16 13:37:27 CST 2012
Shendu Mod version: ShenDu-U8800pro-v2.0.4-121016
But I really can't figure out how to go back. Every single stock firmware I've downloaded, causes an error when I try to install it (using the dload on an sdcard method). Does anyone have any ideas how to revert all the way back to Froyo (or GB would suffice I guess, but of course I'd like to take it all the way back and start completely afresh).
Thanks for your time.

Just use the stock dload method from huawei but use the usb cable to power the phone, with the battery removed.
That should stop the error with flashing.
Thread moved. OP please have a look to the forum rules. Thanks

Help me get started please, I did my research tho

Hey guys Ive been reading threads for a while and ive been trying to figure out everything about rooting and roms etc. but im still unsure of a few things. I ordered a 10.2" Android 4.4.4 headunit for my lancer and I think I want to root it just to make it more customizable, I havent received it yet but I want to be ready when it is here. the main things I want to do is be able to change Icon size, the layout, boot animation, auto wallpaper changer and have a nice clean stock android experience while keeping all the car related features of the car (radio, STC, blutooth, GPS etc) any cool root-only add on apps would be a big bonus.
So heres what Ive learned that I need to know about my unit. It has a Cortex 9 1.6 Gigahertz 4 core RK3188 1024x600
I cant figure out what to do with that information, what do Install onto it? how do I do it off an SD? How do I make sure I dont mess it up and have a broken system that doesnt work?
After Its rooted how do I start tweaking Stuff?
Thank you very much if you take time to help me out, I appreciate it.
Im sorry if what im asking has been covered somewhere and I just missed it.
Have a good day everyone.

PX30 Android 10 Root?

I purchased a head unit from Amazon from the make AmaseAudio, based on Opel/Vauxhall and with Android 10.
I'm looking to root but I'm a little confused on where to start, here's the basic details:
Model PX30
Android Version 10 (API level does show as 29 in CPUZ)
Build Number rk3326_mid-userdebug 10 .........
MCU MTCE_HT_V3.30_1
From what I gathered there is 2 custom roms for PX30 but they seem to be for Android 9, though my unit does seem to be running the real Android 10 so I'm not sure if it's possible to install either of those 2 ROMs or would it create issues with it downgrading or what would I actually lose by going down? I'd even be happy without a custom ROM but still have root access to disable a few services to speed it up but again I don't know where I'd begin.
Another question is I'm unable to find anything about the stock rom so no kind of backup in case of anything going wrong, is it possible to backup the stock ROM on the device?
I'm more puzzled since there's nothing regarding PX30 and Android 10 from what I can find.

YT9218 firmware help

Hi guys. I just bought a car and it has a chinese navigation YT9218 from what I understand.
It says it have Android 8.1 Go on it, but it is moving really hard.
I will atach some screenshots about version to be more clear.
What I wanna do is update the firmware or something to make it run smoother.
If any guides/ideas will be much apreciated.
Thanks a lot.
I found some updates on 4pdu, and on this site http://file.xygala.com/.
I updated my unit to xyauto_ui1_R2G_9218C_full_8227L_demo-ota-20200602_HIFI.
Anyone have a guide on configuring those units? Or any tutorials?
Or maybe a rooted new version of firmware? It sucks that u can not customise it as you want even if is android. I would try some apps for customisation... but idk how much it can run at 1GB RAM...

As a modder of these units, I have to tell you that the only way for you to make it run smoother is through custom firmware and root. Once enabled, you need to adjust some settings to ensure it runs well. I have made a post here that describes in detail how to improve units YT9213AJ and YT9216B but the principle is the same.

Can you repost the pictures? It's impossible to see anything. If your head unit has this label starting with YT9218CH:
and has 1Gb RAM 16 Gb FLASH, then you can try this mod I just released:
[GUIDE] All-in-One SUPER MOD for YT9218CH | AHD HIFI RDS - root, Viper4Android, TWRP, custom UI, brick recovery and more
