Display Problem [N9005] - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Note 3 N9005 which was working perfectly fine until fews days back it's display started showing this pattern (as shown in photo). It gets normal, once I restart the phone.
So guys I want to know whether it is a hardware issue or is it some problem with my ROM?
PS. Im running it on official Lollipop ROM flashed using Odin, but not updated OTA.

That doesn't look good at all mate. Seems like something wrong with the panel, hardware, yes. Because no ROM is out there which could create a mess like that. But I would be more than happy to be wrong.

You may have some corrupted system files.
- Please factory reset your phone (through android settings), flash ROM again (KSA or NEE lollipops are fine), reset your phone again, this time in recovery.
- If again doesn't work, remove battery from your phone, keep pressing your power button, and leave it without battery for a few hours.
Place your battery back in and hope for the best.
- You may also consider also that your battery may be defective.
- If nothing solved your problem, try reverting back to KitKat.
If after all these options, nothing solved your problem, that it's very likely to be hardware related.

I have the exact same issue, initially it was just a few lines not the complete screen, but now its exactly the same case as of your's. I am sure its a hardware issue, i have tried everything format, stock, reset knox etc. nothing worked. it started after a few "very humid" rainy days, so i guess it is due to humidity, i am thinking of a screen replacement.
what have you done till now?

I just took the phone to a local repair shop. The guy replaced the main board and it just worked perfectly.
The problem was basically with the board and not with the screen or ribbon.
I was offered repair of the current board for 40$ and replacement of the board for 100$.

Camera Display Upside Down

camera and camcorder was working fine until yesterday...when opening the camera or comcorder the view on screen is upside down. it can take pics but i would need to rotate them.
called T-mobile tech support and they told me they never heard of this issue and asked me to do a factory reset which i did, but i still have the problem. can anyone suggest a fix? does this sounds like a confirmed hardware issue as the reset didnt fix the problem?
P.S. I am running the orginal Andriod 2.1 that came with the phone (not rooted)
thanks
Ash
Maybe you simply turned off the sensor? check under settings - sound n' display
thanks for your response but in Android 2.1 i cant find no such thing,
Mine is 2.1 too, but german. If the marked selection is unchecked, rotation for pictures shouldn't work.

yes i did try that and the camera is still upside down
Well...shake it?
Seriously, if nothing works, try to wipe it or flash new rom. That fixes most of the problems.
i did shake it... i tried all of that thanks. this is very odd
as I stated i did wipe it. and its still upside down
When youre using the browser, are the pages upside-down as well?
no everything else works fine, only the camera and the camcorder is upside down
A friend of mine have this issue too and someone told him it's a problem with then autofocus module.
You think it's possible?
hi
who was that someone that told him?
when I 1st reported this issue , no one heard of it. not even T-mobile or Motorola. but today it seems I am hearing more and more people with this problem. i dont think there is software fix. it would have to be replaced. what a pain
I don't know precisely ... I think it is a technician in a shop.
Tried other camera apps??
Swyped from my DroidDefy using xda Premium app
Yes, but it's always upside down...
Yesterday my Defy started to do the same weird ****.
After some googling I found:
Open a Terminal App on the phone and type this: (you must have root)
Code:
su
rm /data/misc/akmd* /data/misc/rild*
reboot
Now reboot.
What that does is rebuild a proper accelerometer settings file.

This solution was not really for the defy (but for the backflip), but I found out other people have the same problem, not only with the defy. Most of the time they run Android 2.1. So do I, dutch version and not rooted.
Anyone an idea?

If you have already done a factory reset and it didn't work then this code won't work as well. You may try flashing a 2.2 Rom and if the problem still occurs then you should send it to repair. Have it ever worked correctly?

I have not yet performed a factory reset. I still need to google how to perfotm it.
Everything worked perfectly up until yesterday.
edit: flashed it to 2.2 and still not working. Getting desperate
Have you wiped after flashing 2.2 rom?
Yup, but it had no effect. Guess ill need to send it over.

[Q] Can't make or receive phone calls

I thought I had performed all of the necessary checks before flashing Cyanogenmod on my Note 3, but it turns out it hasn't worked 100% as planned.
Everything is absolutely fine, bar the fact that I can't actually use it as a phone. I'm able to send and receive texts and also use data, but whenever I go to make a call, the call ends and if someone tries to call me, they hear ringing, but nothing makes it through to my Note.
I found this post reporting a similar issue. I'm locked into O2 in the UK, so I'm guessing it's something along those lines.
Is there anything I can do to resolve this or do I need to restore to a backup?
Use a CyanogenMod build from 3/27 or earlier and you will have calling back. It's a bug that is still not fixed as of today

Thank you. I'll give that a go just now.
Edit: That worked. Thanks for the heads up!

Have exactly the same problem with SM-N9005 on Cyanogenmod Nightly 28/03 onwards, and can't dirty flash back to 26/03 somehow, have to clean install 26/03 to make the phone working again. Super annoying...

I know that feel, bros, but on a stock based rom it works.

Guys, everytime I flashed an AOSP based Rom like Carbon on my hltexx, nobody can call me and I also can't call someone else. If I dial a number, the connection seems to break instantly but my mom told me, she got my calls but didn't hear anything. I'm also unable to change or view the access points.
Stock based Roms like Omega work correctly.
WTF am I doing wrong? :crying:

Rooted phone refuses to activate fully

Hey there. I have a rooted Sprint Galaxy S5. Recently I realized the WiFi Hotspot I'm paying for just doesn't work. It enables. It allows devices to connect. It remains turned on. But any device that connects to my phone fails to achieve an Internet connection.
Yesterday I took my phone in to a Sprint representative who spent a valiant amount of time trying to fix my phone. Unfortunately when he entered ##72786#, the phone started an update process that completely screwed up my activation. I believe he later reprogrammed the phone, but the S5 is still obsessively trying to "finish" activating.

(fun fact: right now when I google "reporting firmware version to server ", nothing is returned. Maybe this'll put it on the map.)
When it's done trying, I see "firmware update not completed."
I've been seeing these messages since yesterday. And I hadn't no idea if any of this has to do with my device being rooted. Rooting is really all I've done, no ROMs or anything of that nature have been attempted... only SDFix and SELinux Mode Changer were run using it.
But I HAVE had activation woes before. When I enabled tethering on my phone, it took the better part of the day for sprint to reactivate it. And I was flying, so the process took several major cities before its success. And this was well before I rooted.
Tl;dr is it possible to use the stock Hotspot and reactivate your sprint phone while rooted with your device in a Custom status?

I did it via Samsung Kies... this seemed safest. I used to have negative experiences with custom ROMS and ultimately decided this was the best way to go forward.
P.S. Kies is like iTunes but it doesn't suck and it doesn't require a whole lot of authentication. I just learned this. I did a text message backup and restore and that worked great. An app backup was a lot more hit-and-miss; only the apps were backed up, not the data.
So you fixed it this way? ☺

Hi. Anyone using this ROM outside Middle East region on their Note 2's? I flashed this ROM a couple of weeks ago, but the device started to get serious lags and freezes, even restarts! I went back to UK ROM but the problems still persists. I don't think there is a physical damage to the device as I never carry it around, only use it as a second mini tablet on my workspace for reading additional documents. There are almost no games or other software on it, only a couple of social media apps, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Viber etc. I did a full wipe and reset each time I flashed a ROM but the problem is still there? Did this ROM cause this? Anyone having problems with Middle East ROM in Europe and UK? I was ecstatic to learn that Note 2 was patched with Security Updates (which was my main reason to go for a Z5 Compact last Autumn, I wouldn't replace my Note 2 if only it got Security Updates, I couldn't care less about newer features on newer Android builds) but it messed up my phone Any suggestions?
Good rom for me!

I'm not having much problem with it here in the US. Some occasional reboots, but I'm rooted and encrypted so there may be other factors for me. Pretty stable. The combination of having the security updates and device encryption keep me on this rom. If anyone has been able to get device encryption working with CM 13 on a Note 2 let me know how, and I'd probably switch though.
Do your factory resets first, then flash with Odin. Try running it for awhile clean, I avoid the Facebook app. It's also possible you got a bad download.
Best wishes,
I am running the rom for a week now runs perfect no crashes or anything!
does it still look like the old note 2 4.1 ? and do I just flash it like any custom rom? what would happen to the root?

S7 Edge won't let me turn on the WiFI/WLAN

My S7 is completely new and was sent to me a couple of days ago. But after some usage, the phone turned off its WIFI/WLAN.
I thought it just was the phone going a bit crazy but after I wanted to turn my WIFI back on It wouldn't turn on.
But now without any Internet connection, I cannot install the latest updates that may have fixed it.
I also searched on google after a possible answer to my problem, but all I found is stuff that even a 12-year-old knows.
So now I am trying my luck here.
But I tried some off them including a Hard Reset, wiping the cache partition, etc.
None of the above worked for me.
Wiping the cache partition temporarily helped, as I was able to connect to a WIFI signal.
But it sadly ceased to work again.
So, I will send some Screenshots and that's it.
I hope you could help me or even other people that have this problem!
(I am German so the text "Sicherer Modus" translates into "Safe mode")

What operating system? Latest Oreo?
If not can you update?
Sounds like potential faulty device. Can you take it back?

Yes, I have the latest Oreo installed.
The WiFi normally works fine and I have managed to even get it working for a whole day, but after I restarted my phone it wasn't working.
I think I can get it taken back, this is a pretty new phone since it came from the phone insurance company. I got it as a present from the previous owner after it came from the insurance company.

I hope your issue is resolved but looks like a buggy blcp. Have you tried flashing? Yes though bricking is always possible but if you follow a guide step to step it shouldn't happen. Goto sammobile, get latest firmware for your country and flash. This should solve your issue. Odin is tool made by samsung so flashing through is safe, if you follow all the steps.
