[Q] does flashing a custom recovery can hard brick my phone? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so i want to flash twrp in my S5 sm-g9009d , but im not sure if my model is supported , as it only says klte in twrp page (which i dont know if that's my device type , nor can i find any info about it :/ )
so what's the worst that can happen ?

Hi, Rinyumi ,
No, but there is red alert for all flash
You are lonely responsible of your fone
the Best way in this case hardbrick
In my idea is to flash last officiel
firmware or (stock rom )of your country with Odin

Yeah are included, you have to extract the zip, remove the .md5 and extract again, and use only system.img... search you will find how to make flasheable by odin again

[urgent] need a XXUBMGA firmware

Hi,
I played too much with flashing, and loose sound (absolutly no sound, no mic)
(my phone is a I9505)
I would like to flash an original firmware, like the XXUBMGA (which is what I had when I bought it), properly tuned for France
without knox etc...
I need to get back all the things in firmware folder....
because hotfile is closed, I can't find it anymore (
sammobile only has formware for one month ago. I want to have something older in order.
thanks for anyone who could share, on mega, or ??? the firmware flashable with odin (a rom will not get back the sound for me (
thanks
Olivier
If AndroidFirmwares.net or Samsung-Updates.com doesn't have what you need, you either wait for Samfirmware to have their files up again, or you're SOOL.

thanks for your support
I tried 2 or 3 times to flash with odin, then go in stock recovery, wipe cache, and factory reset each time,
and finally it worked.
I remembered that when flashing modem, most of the time, I have to flash 2 times at least in order to get ti flashed properly...
strange thing : in stock recovery, when I wipe cache, the phone reboot !
I hope I didn't damage any partition...
anyway, now my galaxy s4 is back sound works.
it is rooted, and I will go back to non stock rom soon.

First your phone is fully unlocked? If yes you can use this Rom's to flash in it:
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-N9005 - I used this site and for me was very good
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SM-N9005&pcode=0#firmware - A lot of people say to me this is the original site for rom's-firmeware of SAMSUNG...
So you need now to chose from where you want to download AND chose from what region you want to have

Yes you can flash any of the firmware which is 4.4.2, but if you have snapdragon note 3, I don't know any region when you can get fast updates But I'm not sure sometimes if you change the firmware region maybe you can lose your IMEI...
So look at me I'm from Romania and my firmware is from Europe/United Kingdom/France and I don't lost my IMEI... I don't have romain firmware because have specific apps for that operator
- To get the latest firmware for N9005, install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app, open the menu 'Firmware Browser'. Enter SM-N9005 in Model textbox and leave CSC textbox blank. You will see a list of latest firmware.
- To check whether your phone is fully unlocked, see this thread. Tap on the code *#7465625# to check.

It depends by your carrier. You don't have to root your phone!
But you can always install an LP Rom from xda .
You can install firmware (LP) with Odin (latest is POF9 - you find them on sam mobile

First I recomand to install stock firmware (LP) with Odin (you will find lots of tutorial on Web - if don't ask me how) as you are now on KK (ANC9) from here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G900F/
Keep in mind country doesn't really matter so just download latest (POF9 and BOE6/5 - Great Britain I think)
After that you can install any other ROM you like (you also lose root after this, but you "reroot" in few minutes )
Any need for the massive font?

It's G350H. And the baseband is XXU. I know about that, but I'm still not sure that's safe. Is there any risks if I flash it to any region firmware though my region firmware isn't available yet?

Hi argounaut! There's nothing really risky about updating from another region as long as it's the right firmware for your phone. I usually update just like this 'cause my region doesn't give anything at all. My first was from Russia and then I updated my firmware from Uzbekistan and then flashed the latest build from Panama. All of it are 5.0.2 (Lollipop) and I haven't had any problems at all upgarding from other regions :good:
(EDIT: And I have the same SM-G530H as you, so no need to worry about risks)

Not really, but you have to root it again after every update beacuase you will lose root access. And for the best firmware so far, I think you should always go with the newest build every time you update:good:

As long as from official firmware, warranty will not be lost. Warranty lost if you install custom rom / recovery
#btw, you must choose home csc if you do not want to format the device. If you choose csc, then your phone will be like new

It does not matter if you flash other regions.
Well, not sure which language to say it. But there is an illustration like this..
If you download the firmware, you'll get these files:
PDA: System android
BL: Bootloader
CP: Radio
CSC: Region (your phone will be formatted if you choose this)
HOME CSC:Region (doesn't wipe your phone)

Alright thank you for the reply. Also I want to ask you something else maybe you know how I can fix this annoying problem . When my phone is on a dark or very sunny place then the brightness change itself , the problem is not the auto brightness which is on the top bar , it's the light sensor . I downloaded a app from the google play that lets you test all your sensors, well when I put my fingers on the top of the phone where is the selfie camera then the brightness goes to very dark ... if I leave the fingers all good ... I tried many things but nothing changed . .. do you know any way to fix this idiot problem ? On google says that many users has this same problem as me , others not , a friend of me mine has the same mobile phone BUT not the same problem ...
