[Q] XPERIA E4 stock firmware problems? No flashing supported? - Sony Xperia E4 Questions & Answers

Hello All,
I just got a new XPERIA E4 (Model E2104) from CLARO RD, its running on 4.4.4 KitKat , 24.0.A.2.12 Firmware and 3.4.67 Kernel. The thing is i have encountered a lot of problems and would like to know if its possible to update to a newer Firmware version (24.0.A.4.14 at least) in hopes of fixing them. I downloaded FlashTool and XperiFirm, and got the latest firmware from the XperiFirm database for this model (24.0.A.5.14) but im unsure of the flashing process, since ive never done it before. I went through some tutorials and saw that there was a bundling process involved but apparently the E4 is not supported since it doesn't show on the devices list for bundling that the program has, also saw another method that was done directly without the bundling but im unsure of what to check and what not to on the wipe options.
Problems include:
-Phone shutdowns and restarts automatically if left untouched for random intervals, sometimes it does it in short intervals ending in a "no screen lock position" (power button doesn't lock the screen and screen doesn't "sleep"), having to restart the phone by long pressing the power button and selecting Restart option to fix it.
-WIFI stops receiving data and stops working after extended streaming on YouTube (somewhere from 15 to 30 minutes), shutting down and turning back ON the WIFI doesn't work, Restarting the phone fixes this also.
-Doesn't allow 420p quality on streams either nor HD (but i think it doesn't support 720p on the E4 anyways).
-Battery doesn't last as much as its supposed to, screen sometimes uses 70% power on low brightness and nothing open.
I replaced the first phone i got for a new one and still having the same problems, so i figure it must be software related or a faulty line of phones.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

[Q] random reboots with janjan 4.4.2 v2.2 rom

I9505 (euro/international, not connected to any carrier)
I used to run samsung's 4.2, it ran fine. later I ran some hacked google 4.3, it ran fine too.
after that I tried 4.4.1, and after many trials and tribulations managed to get it to work, with functional wifi and phone. Not sure if I get LTE, never saw the appropriate letter on the signal bar, but then again I can't vouch for LTE network where I live anyway.
but... started getting random lockups/reboots. typically once or twice a day, when phone is idle. I only notice those as I get a notification from startup manager than boot took NN seconds. twice witnessed this first-hand. once while fiddling with the phone, another time during a call.
screen, button backlight, notification etc all go blank, phone stops responding to any buttons. stays like that for half a minute or a minute. after that responds to voldown-power-home hold force reset and possibly a little later to power button hole power on. if left unattentded boots up after a while too.
a possible hint to what's going on, camera freezes sometimes, when it does other apps, like flashlight, refuse to start claiming that dive is already used.
upgraded to janjan 4.4.2 v2.2, problem still there.
verified that I'm running recommended XXUEMKE modem.
not sure what other flashable parts are recommended. e.g. non-hlos.
can someone who runs 4.4.x on i9505 possible tell me exact versions of all the partitions?
or download said partitions and tell me e.g. md5 hashes thereof?
thanks

[Q] SGS4 WiFi/Bluetooth Death, ZERO working solutions, willing to pay.

Hi everyone, I'll try to keep this as concise and clear as possible. Thanks in advanced for reading this.
Phone: SGS4
Running: Android 4.3
Carrier: Bell Canada
Rooted: No
Rom: Stock TouchWiz.
Problem: The phone will not turn on WiFi or Bluetooth. If you attempt to switch either on, it remains a dim green for a few seconds and then turns back off shortly after.
Solutions tried:
(a) Battery pull.
- Unsuccessful. (At first, if battery pulled during Samsung logo animation after restarting from ON state, both WiFi/Bluetooth would turn on again, sometimes for minutes, sometimes hours. Eventually, this stopped working. It would only work on a restart pulling the battery during the animation, never at any other time)
(b) Update to latest firmware through Samsung Kies.
- Unsuccessful.
(c) Boot into safe mode to see if any applications were the cause.
- Unsuccessful.
(d) Wipe device clean and start fresh.
- Unsuccessful.
(e) Change WiFi power saving state to off through *#0011# menu.
- Unsuccessful.
I have not tried loading other roms or kernels.
A quick google search shows that many people have the same problem, I have yet to find a working solution. If anyone here can point me in the right direction, I'm willing to pay at this point. I cannot return it to Samsung as there is a crack on the screen which has voided the warranty. I could fix the screen and try sending it in but I'm hoping for a software solution.
I feel as if it is not a hardware issue as the battery pulls worked initially.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Once again, I'm willing to pay for a working solution, the number is up to you as long as it is reasonable.

Note 4 rebooting almost every day randomly

This is my second Sprint Galaxy Note 4 (the one I had previously had issues reconnecting to WiFi networks after going out-of-range and switching to 4G, and even more annoyingly the battery would die even if fully charged if I took more than one picture at a time) and I haven't even fully set it up or installed that much on it and now it seems to be rebooting almost every day at random times. Some days it reboots several times in the day. I have no idea what is causing this, but is there any troubleshooting or diagnostic testing I can do to figure out why this is happening? Or does anyone have any suggestions for how I can either figure out what's causing this or fix it? The phone is running:
- Software version: N910PVPS4DPD1
- Hardware version: N910P.05
- Android version: 6.0.1
- Android security patch level: April 2, 2016
- Baseband version: N910PVPS4DPD1
- Not rooted or otherwise modified aside from settings changes and installed apps (and international unlock done by Sprint)
Thanks in advance for any help!!

Have you tried leaving it 1 day running in safe mode, to see if it also occurs there?

Shake it around in different orientations and see if it reboots. May be the battery is loose and momentarily loses its connection.

You'll have to forgive me - I'm not familiar with safe mode on the Note 4. Can you advise how to get into it, as well as what limitations there are with it (i.e. can I continue to actually use my phone to do things while it's in safe mode, since I heavily rely upon my phone every day)? Also, I'd probably have to leave it in safe mode for a few days, since it doesn't always reboot every day, and even if putting it in safe mode prevented it from rebooting randomly, can you advise how that would help diagnose the issue? Thanks, and sorry for all the follow-up questions!

I was actually thinking about that since I went to a wedding over the weekend and had the phone in my pocket while I was moving around a lot (i.e. attempting to dance...lol) and it did reboot several times that night alone. However, it has also rebooted while entirely stationary (such as overnight while it's resting on a flat non-moving surface next to my bed) so do you think a loose battery could still actually be a cause?
The software might be the cause, I can't say for sure since im running cm13.
Anyway, I believe you have to long press the either the power or reboot option to enter safe mode.

Safe mode disables all user installed apps to see if one of them is causing the issue. Just tried it and as soon as the first splash screen starts up hold volume down only all the way through boot up. It will say 'safe mode' in the bottom left corner.
From another site:
Safe Mode isn't meant to be accessed regularly, so it's understandable that the function is stuck behind a pretty convoluted method. If you want to access Safe Mode, power down your phone completely — hold the power button, then select Power off from the menu. Once the phone is off, press and hold the power button to turn the phone on, and as soon as the "Samsung" logo pops on screen, release the power button and then press and hold the volume down button until the phone boots up completely.

Have you tried doing a hard factory reset on your device but clear the cache in the hard factory reset menu first? That might fix your problem.

Fingerprint hardware not available and screen locks itself immediately!

Hi everyone!
I have a OP 2 for more than one and a half years now and never had any issues with it(stayed stock...) until recently. I didnt update the phone to the latest version and was putting it off, and today in the afternoon when I tried to unlock my phone it said the 'Fingerprint hardware is not available' and after unlocking the phone with the pattern, it IMMEDIATELY LOCKS ITSELF BACK !!! after split second it just locks the screen while everything is working like connection, wifi, messages, notifications, etc. but due to this I cannot access anything on the phone, can't go to settings and switch to onscreen nav bar buttons, can't force stop/wipe cache the com.fingerprints.serviceext either, tried restarting it several times, downloaded the update but can't even install it because the phone just locks!:crying: I have no idea what would fix it and I am avoiding a full reset and wipe on the phone(also based on all i have read, dont think it would fix it anyways)
If anyone knows whats the problem or has dealt with it or knows someone who has, please help me out here on how to fix this and what to do. I did not root it or flash custom ROM's on it yet and never had a flip cover or any sort of case so literally don't know why it happened.
Thanks in advance,
Max
Hi
I had the exact same issue with mine, I was on LineageOS and could access the logs so I was able to determine it was an hardware failure.
Went to a repair shop to replace the home button, and Bam it worked again.
If you didn't flash a custom ROM it is likely an hardware issue just like I had.

Snapdragon S8 crashes and turns off after some heat

Hi!
I have a Samsung S8 G950W snapdragon running Android 8.0.0 latest build BRF5.
The problem is whenever I do some intense task like as playing PUBG or some power-hungry game the phone gets warm and then it crashes. Crashes means it just goes black (Straight turn off no Samsung Logo that we usually get when turning off phone manuallly).
So, when I turn it off right after I keeps crashing. The only solution is to wait for 5-10 minutes then start phone, let it stay locked for 2-3 minutes then unlock and use with low brightness along data or WiFi off. Then after use of 10-15 minutes I can use it normally with data or wifi on.
I'm getting this issue after Oreo update, never had anything like that before on Nougat.
My question is
Is anyone having or facing the same issue or is that me? Was someone able to solve this problem and find real reason behind this? Can it be an hardware issue or software glitch?
What I tried:
I have already tried several things before asking here,
1: I uninstalled many apps which I thought could be real reason for that.
2: I soft reset phone
3: I tried factory reset too (removing everything from internal storage)
4: Also tried formatting sdcard
I am running this phone without any modification. It is stock android.
If anyone has any solution kindly tell me!
