[Q] Rooting At&t Note 3 with android 5.0 - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone I want to root this phone. Does anyone have a good tutorial on doing this? I have not rooted anything since my original Note and want to get back in the game and need a refresher
Thanks XDA

The easiest way is to do cyanogenmod installler and it installs the stock rom and root. If u only want root go to
https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ and find your model number make sure it says the right software verision. If it doesnt have note 3 on lollipop try kingo root.

[Q] Forced MF3 Update

Greetings XDA,
Recently my AT&T Galaxy S4 took the MF3 update without my permission.
Questions I have:
1. Is it possible to remove this update?
2. Is it possible to unroot the S4 with this update?
3. How limited does this update make my device?
it's also worth mentioning I've had issues with getting audio in basic phone calls.
p.s Thank you for reading and responding,

1. No, as of right now, there is no way to downgrade from MF3
2. Unroot, I don't believe so. Root, yes. Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2473747
3. Pretty limited, at least as far as custom ROMs go. You can only install TW based ROMs for right now. You can still do all the awesome stuff that a normal rooted phone can do, but if you screw something up, there's no way to flash a clean, stock version of TW without taking it to Best Buy and having them restore it.
Have you tried supersu and triangle away it. Supersu has the option to full unroot after you use triangle away.

DO NOT USE TRIANGLE AWAY ON MF3.
I flashes a temporary recovery.

Unroot after rom flash?

I'm interested in flashing the Google Play Edition Rom to my Galaxy S4 I9505.
The walk throughs seem simple enough.
I've noticed that you need to root your phone it install the roms. After install is it possible to Unroot your device once your running the GPE rom? As I know some apps such as banking apps don't run on rooted devices.
Thanks

If you need to lock ur phone back I mean unroot
Just use triangle away app then flash the stock odin version of your phone with specific region.
And you can get it from sammobile

You don't necessarily have to run stock to run "unrooted", because even some custom ROMs come without superuser priviledges. If you're talking about a specific ROM that comes stock rooted (which most are), then you might be able to get by if you simply disallow root access to that specific program. Otherwise, there are apps like Hide My Root which are supposed to help you do what you're trying to accomplish. If I were you, I would set it up and try it out on the actual program(s) you're worried about. It would be a shame to stay on stock just because you weren't sure if it would work.
You can temporarily unroot your device using super user app itself.. check it out in settings
Thanks a lot for all of the replies, you've been a great help.
I've not got round to rooting or flashing the GPE rom yet might do it this week.
This is my 1st time doing this so a little uncertain on some little things.
I know about uprooting, getting TWRP running, using Odin, then flashing the ROM. but just read that the ROM needs a new modem file flashing. Can you do this through TWRP or as I'm thinking do it through Odin after I've got the ROM up and running?
Thanks again for all your responses guys, been a great help

Rooting from Kitkat

Hello, I've been doing a bit of research on my own, and I haven't found any straight answers. Recently, I downloaded the leaked Verizon Kitkat OS. From what I hear, this is the build I should be staying on. That's great and all, but I was wondering if there is any way for me to be able to root from 4.4.2 and be able to install some custom roms. Sorry if this is redundant in any way to what you guys normally see on here, but I am really confused on where all to start with this rooting process.
Also, I've seen people running custom roms on kitkat on the SM-900V, so I know it's possible. I just need a guide for dummies on how to do it.
Thanks again
The best way to root kitkat is installing twrp and when you boot system it asks if you want to root.

Use towelroot method then install latest superuser from chainfire website and then install safestrap. After you've done this you will be able to flash some custom TW roms. You cant get AOSP roms on the vzw retail note 3 yet because the bootloader is still locked.

Personally I can't use an android phone without rooting it, no more!
Why? Because with the root privilege I can make my phone really mine.
How? Choosing which apps I want to keep and which not; removing all the hardly hated ads; boosting the performance of the phone and improving battery life with custom roms and kernels; backing up all my apps and mods with a custom recovery like that if I messed up I don't have to start again from the beginning..
About knox you can find useful information in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2478391
I'm not rooting mine anymore because I need to use banking apps.

Ask yourself
Why you want to root?
If you find some reason then search
Does these can be solved by rooting?
If yes
think - do you afford to lose warranty for these reasons?
If yes- Root
Ive had a bad expirience with my old s3 i rooted it flashed custom roms etc.. Then i decided togo stock android with root and suddenly it got haed bricked..
Dont wanna this happen to my note

Need help with newly acquired note 3

I was just givin a note 3 and its completely stock with 5.0. I wanted to root it but im kinda lost with all these methods out there. Do i need to revert back to 4.4.2 and start from there? Also this is my first time with a samsung and im typical using a htc which seems to be a ton easier to mess with then this phone. If i could just get some help to shoot me in the right direction that would be great.
In simple terms, you're ****ed as far as root goes. Cant revert back past 4.4. Also no root available for 4.4 and 5.0 . Im screwed myself.

Nothing you can do don't try you'll brick your phone
