[TWRP] Xposed modules that work with Fire HD : - Fire HD 6 and 7 General

Update: this discussion is for FireOS 4.5.x, for 5.2.x look elsewhere.
Important: Before trying any of this, please make sure that you have 4.5.3 bootloader and TWRP installed on your device. This way you can always recover by going to TWRP, and re-installing the system. On the other hand, if you use a bit of common sense with Xposed, then a re-install is unlikely. I've tried a few things, and have not had to re-install (yet)
For the record, I am running 4.5.4 with root, installed via these instructions (and these are the same instructions to re-install the system if you screw up!):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/how-to-upgrade-to-4-5-4-twrp-root-t3141648
But I don't see why this should not work on 4.5.3 as well.
My Xposed version is 2.6.1, and these are the modules that I've tried :
App Settings - works (this lets you change DPI and language settings on per app basis)
BootManager - works, helps to manage the apps that start on boot
GravityBox [KK] - works, but does not seem to do much
Greenify - worse than does not work !!! This makes Fire HD erratic, lots of reboots upon wake, and even if I enable/disable the module, it's still flaky, so I had to delete the app folder /data/data/com.oasisfeng.greenify to get the regular Greenify to work properly again (and make the tablet stable again) Note that the regular Greenify works fine (just its Xposed module does not work).
KindleLockBG - works, let's you set wallpaper to whatever you want
(credit to DoLooper : http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/how-to-wallpaper-custom-launcher-t3123009 )
MinMinGuard - works, this apps blocks ads on per app basis
Wanam Kit - works, but does not do much
YouTube AdAway - works, and a must have, if you give the tablet to kids to watch Youtube, this removes the annoying ads before the Youtube clip starts
If you test something else, please add it to the thread.

Running 4.5.4, but used all on original list with 4.5.3 since we got root.
[EDIT] BTW, you don't need TWRP to install Xposed. Download the apk, v 2.6.1 (not 2.7) from here: http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
[EDIT] Additions:
Screenshot Delay Remover: Instant screenshot with power + volume-down
Original list:
Xtended NavBar: Doesn't work.
KindleUpdatesOff (by Gran PC): Disables OTA updates (in some way other than by blocking otaverifier). Not sure how it works, but it kept me safe through multiple updates on KFSOWI and now on Fire HD.
Xtoast: Specify a bunch of things about toast messages (SU permission msgs, e.g.), including size and duration
GravityBox [KK]: If you're into messing with appearance of UI, this is a great way to waste an afternoon. Here are some things that work on the Fire:
status bar:
change color of bar, clock, wireless icon
add battery icon (can then turn off battery text in Fire settings)
hide clock, center clock, add day of week
double-tap to turn off screen
notification drawer: change color, transparency
navigation bar and keys:
adjust bar height (personal favorite)
enable/disable: Good if you use pie controls. Needed for ultimate dynamic navbar.
change color
assign actions for long press and double-tap on keys. (to quickly switch between 2 running apps, e.g)
add cursor control (appears when keyboard displayed. Only good for a chuckle)
lockscreen: Hide clock in status bar (since lockscreen already has clock)
pie controls: hidden navbar appears by swiping from edge of screen
expanded desktop (if your launcher doesn't already support it): Let's you hide/pull down status and navbars
media/audio: various options I never tested
screen off effect: make screen turn off like 1950s TV (also, just for a chuckle )

Anyone tested Amplify with Fire HD and Xposed ?
The OP mentions that Greenify didn't work so I'm a bit wary of enabling the Amplify module....
I'm on 4.5.5., so even worst case bootloops shouldn't be an issue, right ?

So what's the result, did Amplify work ? Bootloop is unlikely, and at worst you'll go into TWRP, and start with a fresh 4.5.5

Yeah sorry, haven't been feeling adventurous recently.

What are your favorite Xposed modules?

Hi everyone, I am not new to smartphones but I am new to Verizon and the Galaxy S5. I had it rooted and Xposed loaded about ten minutes after getting the phone. What are the best/most useful modules you use? I have had some hits and misses so far.
Greenify is always a must. I tried Wanam with mixed results. I could not modify the battery icon in the status bar. Xblast did the trick. I also tried Unbounced Xposed, but it appeared to crush my battery rather than helping. It went from 90% to dead in less than an hour. I am not saying it is a bad app, but that it didn't do what I expected. Experiences can differ from phone to phone or maybe I just did not use it properly.
Anyway, what is everyone using with Xposed?
PS. Go Kansas City Royals!
Here is what I'm running:
ActivityForceNewTask - Link
Blurred System UI - Link
Disable Clear Defaults Dialog - Link
X Tether (Moto Tether) - Link
No Lock Home - Link
Samsung Data Connection Icon fix - Link
Smooth System Progress Bar - Link
Unbounce - Link
Wanam Xposed - Link
Xposed Recent Tasks RAM - Link
YouTube AdAway - Link
I installed Wanam for first time yesterday. After installation and reboot, my power button would no longer bring up the phone options menu (to reboot/airplane/power off) which was frustrating, but I fixed it by enabling the '4 way reboot menu' in wanam's system configuration.
other than that, I have :
galaxy s5 lockscreen widgets - http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.elesbb.galaxys5widgets (enables widgets)
notifyclean - enables customization of what notifications you want - http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.defim.apk.notifyclean

Something I use that has changed names several times (used to be "Unbounce") called Amplify Battery Extender found here: Amplify-Battery Extender is a module that will prevent the play store from phoning home so often and waking up your device from deep sleep. Early iterations allowed you to change settings yourself, but the newest version has good default settings that helped me tremendously with my S5. I don't know how future proof it is with Lollipop right around the corner, but it definitely increased my deep sleep time by about 10-15%.
Give it a try and check out his support page that I linked to. It has a lot of good information posted there.
Edit: The only other one I install for performance related impact is the Android Tuner (I have pro) Xposed module that allows for Crystallization of apps immediately upon close. I found greenify to be completely hit or miss, especially on my friend's phone who installs an insane amount of apps. Greenify would just fail to make them hibernate. I don't know why crystallizing through Android Tuner is better, but it truly closes apps immediately and prevents them from running in the background. Really great software and awesome tech support.
The following are my favorites:
1. Boot Manager (as the name implies, it lets you manage what apps are started or not on boot)
2. Greenify (Will let you manually or automatically hibernate apps, even notifications for apps like Facebook will still work while hibernated)
3. Wanam Xposed (So many hacks to list, this alone is a must have!)
4. XuiiMod (if you get tired of seeing the same UI animations, then this one's for you, it let's you change basically every animation there is)
5. Youtube Adaway (as the name implies, advertising remover for Youtube).
App settings. Let's you choose a different dpi for each app.

This thread has the potential to be awesome. Subscribing.
Right now I am using Pandora patcher, adblock, YouTube adblock, appopps, Wanam and xsceurestorage (to enable private mode).

I like Complete Action Plus. Had never known of it before.
this is no way a complaint but personally, as exciting as 5.0 may be... i dont think i make the jump until xposed works on 5.0. There are some modules i can live without but when it comes to per app settings... this is my most widely used module as changing the dpi and forcing an app to be full screen looks so much better. google music's stock dpi is horrible. Anyone else going to delay their update till xposed is able to work on 5.0?

My thoughts exactly!
xPosed Framework is my main excuse to root my device (well that and Titanium Backup) and I can't see myself running a device without xPosed, period!
Cheers!
I add "Network Speed Indicator" to mine. Like to see bandwidth numbers.
The guy that did "Wanam Xposed" does not even have a Samsung phone. Go figure. Its all in one toolkit for any Samsung phones and some of it doesnt work well. For example, the disable volumn warning didnt work on my Note 4.
Has anyone got Lockscreen shortcuts to work?

He may not now but he did when he started.
Agree . . I install it on my devices but only to gain access to a couple of functions.
Along with many of the ones noted I love GravityBox KK. Remapped my capacitative buttons...swapped menu and recents (now long press gets recents) and long press back kills the foreground app.

Do you mean GravityBox does all these?
I am still using Wanam and I dont think it does what you described.

GravityBox does the button remapping and some other mods...I also use Wanam for a number of other things.
I cannot get the lockscreen shortcuts to work. I've set the shortcuts themselves, switched the lock method to Swipe, but nothing shows up on the lockscreen.

What Xposed modules are you using with MM?

THIS IS A MUST! I hate cluttery statusbar. :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
BTW here's what I installed:
-AMPLIFY, battery safer
-FLAT STYLE BAR INDICATOR, costumize ststusbar icons and position
-GREENIFY, another battery safer stuff
-XPOSED EDGE, to enable gestures like long press back to switch to prev app, enable on mid-bottom screen to home to lessen clicking on home button
-XTOUCHWIZ, enable six icons per row on quick settings
-LTEONLY, to lock on LTE only

is there a mod that would allow me to pull down notification bar on lockscreen to toggle on/off flashlight??
Gotta ask, cause I'm running older xposed framework 3.0 alpha with MM and gravity box isn't working (or xui mod, see below), but phone is STABLE! I downloaded newer framework, but after reading some xposed problems (bootloops, lags) people are having, and warning on xposed download itself, I'm real iffy about upgrading framework to 3.1.2.
So I'd ask what framework version you all are using.
My working mods:
Amplify (just now trying it out; it's impressive that dev lets you KO the worst offenders so he'll probably get a cuppa joe from me)
Greenify (Pro version; love how Wakelock Detector integrates Greenify for the problem children)
CoolTool (just the battery's temp in statusbar; cool joystick in settings to place temp wherever you want)
DoubleTapToSleep (double tap status bar; I'm an addict)
Minminguard (I also use Adaway and keep it updated, but mmg gets rid of remnants of ads; love it)
NoOverlayWarning NGL I was close to CURB-STOMPING "new" Note4 when I found this awesome mod. Hello! GET IT! No problems here!!!
YouTube Adaway (I use OGYouTube but can't sign in and get to faves with it; I think there's an update though.)
Fail modules for me
xui mod (to get my animated battery and batt charging status bar line; oh I MISS THIS! But I don't think it works well on MM? ANY workaround ideas would be greatly appreciated; mod isn't being actively devved anymore)
gravity box (partial fail — what fails just doesn't work though, it doesn't cause stability probs. But I'm not a fan of gravity box mostly because it loads settings so you don't have to reboot, and really all I wanted was a batt charging status bar like xui mod, but none of the GB status bar stuff works.) Will probably ditch.
Any ideas for batt charging status bar line? I miss that so much!

Best (Working) Xposed Modules for S8?

Hi all,
I'm running the PartCyborgRom-AQK3 ROM, and I have Xposed working. I couldn't find such a post, but I am wondering what modules are working for everyone with an S8? I know a lot of the modules are for AOSP and a lot are not for Nougat.
I tried BootManager, and unless I disabled too many things or something that I shouldn't have, enabling this one causes a bootloop.
Other than that, I currently have Firefds Kit, GravityBox, and XNotifications enabled.
Features I am still looking for are:
Disable High Brightness warning.
Remove Carrier from Statusbar
Remove AM/PM from stausbar clock. I've found this option but it usually adds a 2nd AM/PM.
At some point, I installed something that added "Outdoor Mode" to the Notification Toggles brightness settings. I can't remember what added this, but I'd like it back!
Did you find a solution for carrier label?

status and system ui tuner are no root apps and can do most of what you want
I use firefds for call record button..I just remove the clock from bar totally as I use a weather and clock widget all the time 3d flip clock and such.
