[HOWTO] Xposed Framework alpha install guide -{possible with odexed rom/many reboots} - One (M9+) General

Here's a very short guide how I managed to install XPosed on M9+ on S-on. On s-off don't try, it bootloops, no fix found that for yet, you must be s-on
It's not with latest release by rovo, I didnt try it yet at all. But anyway, here's what I did.
First of all, you take all responsibility if following this guide, installing these things on your phone.
Second I have no credit regarding the framework or anything, so I'm just sharing how it worked out for me. All credits to rovo86.
Third: make a damned backup in custom recovery before even bothering installing it
Had an odexed ROM on my phone, and it worked. So e.g. CleanSlate 1.1 I had installed, without deodexation.
Downloaded:
xposed-sdk21-arm64-20150430.zip
XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha2.apk
From custom recovery (TWRP), I installed the framework xposed-sdk21-arm64-20150430.
Then rebooted. After about 30 minutes of App optimization with a dozen or more soft and hard reboots, the process finished with the optimization and phone started.
Then I installed the alpha2 3.0 XposedInstaller APK from file manager (Unkown Sources enabled).
Then started it, Downloaded a mod, ticked it and soft rebooted from Xposed installer. Then it was showing that the XPosed bridge is working fine and I could install mods and they mostly work.
- Unfortunately Sense Toolbox 2.0 for Sense 7.0 does not start because M9+ has another framework structure than M9 Android 5.0.2. The com.htc.resources.apk is gone, and thus the mod cannot work.
- Xtended Settings do work most parts, no crashes, very good!
- Sygic crashes with XPosed, you need to install an older version of Sygic to avoid crashes with XPosed, download APK here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-lollipop-sygic-causing-problems-t3114229/page4
That's all.
All credits to @rovo89
Also check out Sense Toolbox 2.1.1+, it's a perfect completion of customized Sense 7 experience on m9+
===========
UPDATE: tried latest installer from official thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 (xposed-v66-sdk21-arm64.zip - [(5.55 MB, 250 views) and XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk - (611.8 KB, 72418 views)
it works, but same VERY slow process after installation of framework, optimization takes about 1 HOUR with countless soft and hard reboots.

Known issue (with these alphas, and latest too): Sygic is crashing with XPosed installed

i've since removed XPosed since I want to use Sygic in the coming days.
Maybe someone else can try and answer.
Probably it might work partially, and at least it will start, because it's using stock android UI for the settings part, while Sense Toolbox is using HTC framework and does not start on Android 5.1 HTC M9 and Android 5.0.2 M9+ (because of the missing com.htc.resources.apk).
I may try it later tho when I get back from this vacation in about a week, if no one else tries till then. I'm curious too

Actually i've tried it, i was too curious, and Xtended Settings does work Installed latest from here too: XPosed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 (new installers compared to the ones i detailed in my original how-to.
Anyway, Sygic still crashes with the new version
Actually now I've reverted Sygic back to this version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/xposed-lollipop-sygic-causing-problems-t3114229/page4 and it works without crash. Turned out Auto update for sygic in play store. Xtended Settings seems to be so good, it's worth the wait with the old sygic version
If you actually install Xposed framework: on an odexed rom (like CleanSlate 1.1) this time it took me about an HOUR till it finished the optimization process (many soft and hard reboots), but after that I have no issues, apart from the fact that it always Optimizes 3 packages on every reboot, but that's not too much time...annoying, but it's bearable, if you really like XPosed

Is the optimization reboot effect caused by the ROM (CleanSlate) being Odexed? Am just curious as most ROM's (all I have used) have been Deodexed on past devices.
Would be interested to see if a Deodexed version of CleanSlate ROM would have the same effect when installing Xposed?
Bit of a noob when it comes to Odexed and Deodexed ROM's and it might just be a hardware thing on the M9+ but I'm reading up to learn more.
Cheers

No. On deodexed same but I hit more issues, for example facebook force closed with my deodexed rom (didn't check if it's because of xposed) Anyway it reboots many times on the deodexed too while optimization goes on. Most probably HTC MTK framework specific issue

If u have xposed installed

Bhu1, This ROM has been great. Only difference noted was not quite a good of battery life as v2.2. But other than that..this baby rocks at 1500 Mhz..stable and smooth.
Removed screenshots link from third post and added screenshots only.
In the third post, it says, "OTA won't work if havent flashed OTA FIX PATCH WHICH IS PROVIDED IN OP". However, I don't see that patch addressed in the first post.
Perhaps I'm just missing it, but what is the patch?

Sorry. Forgot to remove it. Copied third post from sgs thread. Will remove it in a sec.
I've said it before and will say it again in this thread, This is an AWESOME ROM! I noticed in the OP it says version 1.1.1 Is this a typo or are you in the process of a new release? Also love the Update me app. I flashed the blue theme and some ringtones and wallpapers and everything went very smooth. No problems, no complaints! Thank you!

Actually, I added glitch cause I don't really know about cappy kernels. Which is famous and which isn't. Also anish suggested me to use glitch and its the same that is used in official builds of aokp so we used glitch. U can surely try other kernels.

Voted,
People who have voted with low stars, it would be good if you come out with the bugs and issues so that bhu1 can work on it. If you only rate and don't report issues, how can we improve the rom?
Please come forward with the issues, but be absolutely sure to follow all the basics first before reporting.

2. Please don't use mixzing equalizer. It will not work. Use AudioFX instead which is already included in this ROM under widget.
3. If you use different launcher than the default one, the icons which are themed white may be replaced with the icons provided with installed launchers.
4. FM radio is the default application from CM team without RDS. The radio uses Bluetooth chip for transmission. So it will start bluetooth when you power on FM. It's normal and not a bug!
5. This ROM allows upto 964Mhz OC, but those who wants to get higher batterybackup, just underclock your CPU. Here's the trick posted by me : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27469465&postcount=26
6. Those who want to change icons Just search on playstore with "adw launcher theme" and you will find 100s of icon packs! For this theme I will suggest Aerish adw theme since the icons are taken from the same.
7. For USB th please Download this app and install: http://code.google.com/p/android-wired-tether/downloads/detail?name=wired_tether_1_4.apk&can=2&q=. Did not got the reply from developer so can't add in the ROM.
8. For better GPS fix according to your location you can edit system/etc/gps.config with following. By default it's europe and it works well with almost everywhere. Tested by myself in India(Asia).Only do the changes if you know what you are doing.
Code:
Europe — europe.pool.ntp.org
Asia — asia.pool.ntp.org
Oceania — oceania.pool.ntp.org
North America — north-america.pool.ntp.org
South America — south-america.pool.ntp.org
Africa — africa.pool.ntp.org
9.To remove google search box from mainscreen go to adw launcher settings>>screen>>actionbar design>>chooese Disabled.
10. App2SD or S2E may not work. Use Link2Sd

np! Have nice day!
I really like you ROM, we'll see about the battery life in the next few days.
But all in all I like simple Themes more ... can I just install another ADW-Theme, or will it lead to problems?

JACM- Just another CM7 ROM
JATR- Just another Themed ROM
BTW what you have done to increase battery life. BTW only kernel can make battery life better because of UV and steps of frequency and yes governor... I don't think and tweaks or script can made battery life better because it's depend on usage and yes according to brightness and kernel.... Though it is a constructive criticism.....
No offence

hey thanks! I am waiting to get your feedback!
Hey, how is it going?
Been testing your rom for a few days already. Let me start by saying Great Work!. It has great speed, and battery duration, it also feels very smooth while handling.
A few problems I've found:
On Google Play, I'm not able to install Foursquare because it detects it as an non compatible device, when it works on all the other roms i´ve tried.
When using S2E, works fine until you try to install an application from the SD card, then it reboots everytime you try.
Also, when you try to connect to the PC via Wondershare or any other software that connects to the phone and is able to install apps, It reboots everytime it tries to install one.
The last 2 only happen with S2E installed. Removed it and tried with Link2SD and that one works fine. Could you add the S2E support?
I haven´t found the non-compatible device problem with the other apps that I use, but there could be others.
PD: Great job with the rom. :good:

Maybe try installing Foursquare off market. Also Link2SD will work with this ROM. I suppose it's the kernel issue! I will update this in my 1st post.

Yeah once I see a new changes or tweaks in Skia and Bionic I'll definitely update it, but the ROM is currently fast and stable so try it out.
So I really like this ROM thanks for it..
Only issue I been having is that google wallet doesn't work. I have no option to tap and pay, I finally was able to restore an old version of google wallet and its giving me this error: Google wallet is not yet available for your device or mobile network..
I am thinking maybe its a build.prop issue?

Ok so I think I fixed it.. I just had to change a few values in the build.prop.. heres what I changed.
ro.product.model = Nexus 4 (changed from Mako)
ro.product.brand = google (changed from Android)
ro.product.name = occam (changed from full_mako)
Seemed to have fixed it
I can't seem to find out which module made the report button say "reboot" instead of "report"... very weird thing, but it's not that big of a deal.
Sent from my Mako
Another question, its not a huge deal and it might just be a module I have enabled..
But sometimes I get stuck in a weird loop.. like I am in a app hit the recent app menu, go into another app and then if I hit back key it goes back to the recent menu, then if I hit back again goes back to the app, hit back again it goes back to recent apps. etc etc
I don't think stock ever did that.. Its not a huge deal just odd?
*edit* I can't duplicate it but it happens..

Np! Thank you again for a great rom.. Really loving it..
Question, if its too much trouble don't worry about replying.. But I been wanting to someday build my own ROMs from source, now I googled and found some easy enough guides about making a build enviroment and building from source etc.. But what I was curious about is building with different toolsets (like saber) and also what is involved in cherry picking from other roms.
Any good noob guides that you have used / know of that could help me learn?
Again thank you so much for a great rom
I'll guide you when you're available. Just PM me.

Yes, of course all is made and tested by me.
I was unsuccessful with flashing this. I used the without version;
Upon booting I have no navigation bar, or notification bar, and my background is now black.
I made a backup so it wasn't a problem but I don't know why it didn't work. Nexus 5 32GB, Stock, Rooted, SuperSU running the current stable version of Nova Launcher.
After booting I restarted in recovery and tried to clear the dalvik cache, rebooted, no luck. Tried to redownload and flash the mod, no luck. I was able to switch the launcher to the default and restart, no luck with that either.
Also its worth noting the only other mod I've installed is the Camera 1.3 mod by Jishnu Sur in the Android Development section of the Nexus 5 page.
So I'm just recovering my backup now, no need for any help, just wanted to put this out there so people know to make a backup.
Same issue...

I don't think so, I could be wrong but I believe stock is not deodexed? I'm running stock unmodified besides being rooted.
Edit: I looked in the the deodexed matter and I can confirm I am NOT on a deodexed rom; so I believe that is the problem then since the files are deodexed?

edit: well, thats what i get for not refreshing the page lol

After flashing this I also have no navbar and no notification bar.

Xposed Framework and Modules on Galaxy a800i

Do you have Xposed running on the galaxy a800i? How are the bootloops and freezes going? Heheheee...
This is for a800i owners who wish to share their experience and tips on Xposed.
As far as I know, the only "safe"/recommended method for installing Xposed Framework on lollipop phones is by using custom recovery, which we have not had till a few days ago.... Thanks again @ashyx.
The conversation on xposed has been going on here and here which is not the most appropriate thread for that...
For most part it appears the installation of Xposed is an old subject for people owning other lollipop phones but with the a800i it lag behind mostly owing to it's rather unusual incompatibility with firmware from similar phones. I don't know why many developers (save for a few to who we are very grateful) have not taken to this phone.
That said, Xposed seems to be promising experience on a800i.
For starters @wanam (much gratitude to him for his work) recommends deodex before installing ***Correction: He does not recommend deodex. (See below) My mistake.. I did not deodex, and it installed and worked fine somehow, hiccups here and there.
But then there are reports of boot loops, freezes, modules that refuse to work after installing etc...
What modules are you guys running? Which ones work? Which ones do not? This is a request to pass any tips along the way that may help all of us.

For starters @wanam (much gratitude to him for his work) recommends deodex before installing. I did not deodex, and it installed and worked fine somehow, hiccups here and there....
But then there are reports of boot loops, freezes, modules that refuse to work after installing etc...
What modules are you guys running? Which ones work? Which ones do not? This is a request to pass any tips along the way that may help all of us.

I don't remember recommending to deodex the Roms, it's the opposite, I highly recommend to use Xposed with stock or close to stock Roms.

Wah! Greatly honoured to have your company @wanam! Thanks! Never thought you would even ever see this, let alone respond! Hahahaaa.... Thanks.
My bad. I must have misread what I was reading. I will go back and read again. No wonder it installed.
We have not had working recovery for our devices so we are late to the party. I have many questions but I think I will research a bit more to see what has already been done and said before I shoot my mouth off heheheheee...
Thanks again to you, @rovo89, @Tungstwenty for your work. It has been great in helping us to truly own our phones.
A lot of modules are not compatible with our model. Although they are compatible with Lollipop on samsung. It is impossible to index them. Although, i have not encountered a single bootloop. At the most, the modules wont work.

Update:
1. Wanam xposed: Works.
Note: Again boot stuck on animation. Left it to animate for a few minutes and restarted phone. Booted fine.
Err...I might want to take that back.
And thinking about it, in the short visit by Wanam in here earlier, I seemed to remember something about Wanam and deodex. No I got it. I am seeing now why I thought he had said something about deodexed roms. He was talking about the Wanam Xposed module itself I think, that is what had confused me.

There is another version of the Wanam Xposed module also:
I think this second one is for the close to stock rom like mine. I had mistakenly used the first one on my phone. Many of the features did not work. I will be doing a back up and installing the 2nd one and posting back the update.

1. Banned app installed. Did not work and asked for busy box (i never got as far as rooted and custom recovery without busy box before). So i installed busy box. Banned app working.
Note: After installing banned app boot stuck on animation. Left it to animate for a few minutes and restarted phone. Still scared of it though.

It's not a good idea to mention software that circumvents paid software. It is banned from xda.
Save yourself a warning and remove reference to it.
@ashyx: Please check PM.

See the re-edit on post #5 above. Apparently there are two Wanam Xposed modules, one is called Wanam Xposed module for Android 5.x.x and the other is Wanam Xposed (for 4.2+). This is the one that works for me.
Yes. It works. The version with 5.x.x on it does not work (probably because my rom is not deodexed I think). Like @wanam says, strongly recommends deodexed rom for the first.

Hi @ashyx. I agree. He does not. For his custom Xposed Framework for lollipop and the Wanam Xposed for android 4.2+.
Please check out the recommendations info wanam put on his Xposed for Android 5.x.x (I have attached my screen shot of the same in post #5). And to word that Xposed does not work with my odexed rom. The are current shots from my own phone.
See the shot. It says HIGHLY recommend deodexed rom. Not my words. That one does not work on my phone.
Now see this second one:
It says HIGHLY recommend stock rom. And it works on my phone! Notice how the keyboard (bottom half of the shot) shows the alt symbols!
Again I am not an expert at this stuff, so I may be wrong in more ways than one here. If you have a different view, please volunteer the advice and let us help each other out. My only advice is: backup your phone before trying to tweak stuff around on Xposed. Xposed seems more cranky on this phone than I have known it on my other phones before.

I'm not referring to the xposed module, I'm talking about the actual framework.
Wanams xposed doesn't need a deodex rom for 5.1.1 and 6.0.
Latest version is v80.0. See Link below.

Cosign. I agree 100%. What I am saying it appears there are two different wanam Xposed modules that could work with lollipop, and for one of those it appears @wanam recommended deodex unless he changed that recommendation later after the release date.
