Galaxy Tab a 8inch variant in Europe - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

hi together
i really want to buy this tablet... love it
but the screen resolution really sucks on the 9.7... before that i wanted to buy tha galaxy tab 4 it has a better screen res.
now the galaxy Tab a 8inch has better res than tab 4 and the tab a 9.7inch variant so this must be my next tablet
the problem is i live in europe...... and since now i found the tablet only on USA and the shipping is hell expensive...... (mostly over 70$)
do you think the Tab A will lanch in europe?

Wasn't it supposed to launch in Europe in May? http://www.talkandroid.com/244268-samsung-galaxy-tab-a-heading-to-europe-in-may/

[Q] Confused, Help Me Out Here :)

Hi There
I am Waiting For Galaxy Tab 2 to come out here in U.k, Don't know when it is coming out.
Also I am getting confused with all these different versions of galaxy tab 2,
There's
galaxy tab 2 8.9
galaxy tab 2 10.1
galaxy tab 2 10.1v
Can someone shed some light please
Which is the better one?
Which One Is Going To Be The Better/Hot Seller?
Hope You Can Help
Thanks
NOPE.
There's the 10.1V the thick one on Vodafone
There's the 10.1 the thin one
and the 8.9. A small thin one.
first:
its not called galaxy tab 2.
Second :
the difference between the 10.1 and 8.9 is just size (physical and battery)
the difference between the 10.1 and 10.1v is more pronounced
What the 10.1 (and 8.9) has over the 10.1v
Pls display
MicroSD card reader
Thiner
Dual wi-fi antenna (10.1only)
Bluetooth 3.0 (8.9only)
While the 10.1v has a much better camera

As for the 10.1 versions, the confusion is caused by Samsung. The 10.1 v was announced at the CES, before the launch of the iPad 2. It was/is a tablet with almost the same dimensions as the Xoom (only a bit lighter, although very noticeable) .
The 10.1 was introduced at the Mobile Congress in Barcelona after the introduction of the iPad 2, and it was Samsungs answer to it. It was basically the predecessor (which wasn't launched by then) with the only difference that it was a lot smaller.
Somehow Samsung made the confusing decision to launch the unit the introduced at the CES, although they developed a successor before the introduction of it. Why? Maybe they had the production ready for the first version, don't know, but yes, very weird. Nevertheless as far as I know the 10.1v is exclusively sold by Vodafone and were released the previous week. The 10.1 will be released in June in the USA according to some blogs.
For the exact differences between 10.1 and the current 10.1v see post by k-dog
(As far as I know, the preproduction unit introduced at the CES also had a microsd slot etc. .. the way I see it, Samsung made a clever deal with Vodafone to dump their first units with little additional costs. But that is of course just an interpretation ...)

Samsung has us all confused with changing the 10.1.
My understanding is that Galaxy Tab 10.1 was first announced at Mobile Congress in Barcelona.
The new thin iPad 2 announced shortly after in March.
Samsung announced the "thin" Galaxy tab 10.1 March 24th at CTIA in Orlando along with the 8.9 version. Samsung wanted their tablet to be the thinnest. The original Galaxy Tab 10.1 became the 10.1v.
Release date for the USA for the 10.1 wifi only model is June 8th.
Here's the Samsung CTIA keynote address.

It would appear the 10.1v has dual wifi antenna also - I have one in front of me right now and it has the option of connecting to my 2.4ghz wifi router and my 5ghz 802.11n AP.
You are right. Samsungs site for the 10.1v does say it has dual antennas
Maybe the 8.9 also has it then.
cameras?
So I'm guessing the new 10.1 is better than 10.1v?
What's the difference in camera?
And what tablet would you guys recommend me to get?
Thanks
The 10.1 is "better" from the little we know now.
the camera on the 10.1 is a 3mp that can record in 1080p
But the 10.1v has the same 8mp as the galaxy s 2.
the camera is the only thing the 10.1v has over the 10.1
10.1 has micro SD card slot.

OH ****. Yup. The 8.9 has one, according to http://originus.samsung.com/us/news/newsRead.do?news_seq=19833&gltype
I'm a little confused about why the 8.9 has one and the 10.1 doesn't.
10.1 does have MicroSD
Same with the 8.9
but the 10.1v does not
which is released
so the thicker one 10.1v is released?
and the slimmer tab is not yet released?
Yes
the 10.1v (thicker) is out in select markets
the 10.1 (slim) will be out in about a months time
There is one more unknown but potentially quite big difference between 10.1v and 10.1 - heart of the tablet.
While 10.1v runs with Tegra 2 inside (so if you want to watch movies on your new device it might prove difficult) the coming one 10.1 is described by Samsung as with " dual core 1Ghz processor inside".
We all here think (and some of us hope) that this "secrecy" means it will run with Exynos (Samsung's own design) inside. If so it would mean this would be more versatile device than Tegra 2 tablets and iPad 2 - true king of tabs.

I can get the 10.1v today. Should I wait for the slimmer version? I live in Europe. Will the 10.1 also have an mini hdmi out or the same port as the SGSII?
Edit: Nevermind I just read all the issues with the 10.1v. Tbh I will wait for the slim version. Ports, SD slot and better screen are more important than a good camera.

That is exactly what I am doing and also why (if slim GT is not Exynos based) why it dose not make any sense to Samsung to hide this information if it is only Tegra CPU. Beside sd support some ppl. might have buy 10.1v if they knew 10.1 is not that much different.
Do I read things correctly that 10.1v is actually more expensive that 10.1?

Launch Event: Free Galaxy Tab 10.1, Free Food & Drink et cetera

Hey Guys,
As you know the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be released in the UK on the 4th of August. Samsung are holding an event in London with free drinks, music and the chance to win all sorts of cool stuff this Wednesday (the 3rd).
To get on the guestlist / find out a bit more go here: http://on.fb.me/prQ2wW
I'll be there if you want to meet up for a pint!
Also - a bunch of the mobilers have been given Galaxy Tabs if you want any of us to put a screwdriver to it
Dom
So if I bring my mine along can I get it updated to TouchWiz UX?
What's this 'Samsung Mobilers' thing people keep making mention of?
Help me clear this out, what was the first release of Samsung Galaxy Tab? Wasn't it 10.1? Coz I think mine is 10.1 and I got this way back March. How come it will only be released in your area this month?
Or am I completely wrong? 10.1 is actually the new Samsung Tab?
Does that mean I'm in the wrong forums?
*confused*

The P1000 that you're posting from is the original Galaxy Tab, which is a 7" tablet with a single-core CPU running Froyo/Gingerbread.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 (model number P7500, I think...) is a 10" dual-core tablet running Honeycomb.
does anyone know if they will have 32GB Wifi in black or even white, PC world expects to have it in stock on 11/8/11 and black 28/8/11 (OMG!!!)

New Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" user.

hey hey Androiders!
I'm the happy new owner of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1" tablet from T-Mobile, the SGH-T779. This is a nice wonderful upgrade from the Toshiba Thrive 10" I still have.. After learning about how horrible the Tegra 2 was, and seeing it for myself, I was rather surprised and yet, not at the same time.
All in all, I'm excited to see what comes of the Tab 2 in terms of ROMs and optimizations.. Currently looking like there's none specifically yet for the T-Mobile variant (or compatible) of Tab 2, so if I'm wrong, please let me know!

Possible new devices in 2014 - Note 8.4" Pro

If this is true, I will hold on for LG G PAD 8.3

Wondering what those four new Samsung tablets that we’ve been talking about a lot lately are? Well, thanks to our insider, we now have the name and screen size for each of those tablets – there’s the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (SM-T320/T325), Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 (SM-T520/T525), Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 (SM-P900/P905), and the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite (SM-T110/T111). All of these will come in Wi-Fi and LTE models (with the exception of the Tab 3 Lite, which will only have 3G connectivity as befits its low price of around 100 Euros.)
The Galaxy Tab 3 Lite will be the first to launch sometime in week two in Cream White color with a 7-inch screen; it will be followed by the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 sometime in week six, while the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 will arrive just a week later. All three Pro tablets will be available in black and white colors; the Tab Pro 8.4 and 10.1 will come with 16GB of storage while the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 will have 32GB storage out of the box.
As always, the launch time frames may vary a bit, though all four will be out before March is over. We already have some details on the specs of the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite and the Galaxy Note 12.2 Pro, and we’ll be keeping an eye out for info that might crop up about the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and 10.1.
Update: Here’s a live picture of the back of the Note Pro, courtesy of cdpkorea.com

I think that every tablet Samsung has made came in a variant with phone calling capability. The US carriers just won't allow them to bring it here. So my guess is that won't change (on either front) with the new tablets. But, speaking as someone who uses an N5100 as my primary phone, I think an 8.4 tablet would exceed the limits of portability as a daily driver.

That crap needs to stop. Its days away from 2014, 32GB should be the entry level storage option now.
agreed. I just cannot for the life of me understand why they won't just give us that little bit extra storage it would make all the difference. Not like it would cost them that much more.
I haven't seen a mention of note 8.4 pro anywhere, where are you getting you facts from?
there's the "Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4" (which ain't the note line)
and
Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 (which definitely ain't 8.4 incher )

I was going to ask the exact same thing, luckily I read all the replies first
i hope they upgrade the int sd to 32gb like in note 3. but.... 8.4 inch... kind of big... it wont be comfortable to hold anymore... unless you got a gigantic hand...
Unless they keep the device the same size like they've been doing with their phones. I guess we'll see soon enough. I'm guessing we won't see a new Note until the summer

micro sd cards are dirt cheap, what's the problem exactly? and as mentioned above, they do come in 32gb variety.

The note 8 was supposed to have a 32gb version too but it never came out. Also with 5 game on my note 8 and a few other small apps I have no more room. Yes I have a 64gb card in it. Problem is the app to sd only puts a very small amount of the app on the sd card. So it doesn't clear much in the internal space.
The 16 gig 8.4 is available today at bestbuy. $399
Stunned at the price in the UK for the wifi only version of the 8.4. £349. SERIOUSLY?
$399 would equate to around £250 in the UK and if the US was paying what £349 is, it would be more like $570 for you guys.
I'm a major Samsung supporter and major Samsung fan. I've had a couple of Samsung Tabs in the past, and at present have the Galaxy Tab 7.7. This has a Super AMOLED plus screen which has been exceptional and unsurpassed on a sub 9" device since it was released. (OK so only just beaten by the recent Nexus 7 v2.0).
So my Tab 7.7 has held up very well. And while I paid £349 for it back when I got it 2 years ago, I am seriously disappointed to see the new Tab Pro 8.4 come in @ £349. There's a lot more competition out there now and it should have been priced as such. I would maybe have stretched too £299 for it as a fanboi, and had hoped for it might be as low as £249. (i.e. US Price)
But seriously Samsung? £349 in the UK?
Sorry Samsung, but you just lost a sale. Don't expect stellar sales at that price.
Meantime I'l keep my 7.7.

Is that inclusive of the VAT? That 20% VAT is crazy.
Think the idea is to compete with the iPad mini 2. If the prices arent similar at launch, they'll probably come down soon to the ipad levels.
The people in the US get some nice freebies too. Hulu subscription, $25 playstore credit and a few other things.
At least you have the wifi option. In India, they try and push the wifi+3g model that bumps the price up another $100 or so.
I have a nexus 7 2013 16 GB model and all I do is download movies which I delete after watching it serves me well but if I do get the galaxy pro 8.4 they would need to release the lte model I will get a 64 GB sdcard problem solved

The 7.7 is a great tablet, in some ways (display, metal build) superior to the Note 8. And the folks that have them tend to keep them, thus the high prices for used ones. I'd still have mine if I hadn't broke it. Samsung got it wrong, the Note 8 should have been a Galaxy Tab 7.7 with a stylus.

Can I use a S Pen with Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-T585N0)

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016 model) (SM-T585N0) in Korea last year and didn't think to get a pen. I'm not sure if it was even an option. Now I'd like to get one if I can but I'm not sure if the device is compatible.
