Moto X Pure Edition 5.1 Full Firmware - X 2014 General

It is on http://motofirmware.center/files/category/46-moto-x-2nd-generation/ since yesterday. File is VICTARA_TMO_5.1_LPE23.32-21.3_cid9_CFC.xml.zip

I have downloaded it 3 times, and all 3 times it came out corrupt... anyone been able to download it successfully that could mirror it?

Not a duplicate. This thread just has 5.1 for xt1095. The other thread has xt1092, xt1093, xt1095, xt1096, and xt1097. This topic is more specific, the other topic is more general.

Motorola has stated that they will be posting the 5.1 image for the XT 1095.
Motorola has also fixed the 5.0 image that is available so that after you flash 5.0 you can take the 5.1 OTA.

Wonder why Motorola hasn't changed their instructions on their website?
It still says to flash motoboot.img and gpt.bin
Has anyone flashed the full 5.1 image coming from the 60.11 bootloader?
If so did your bootloader change to 60.16 I really want to steer clear of that boot loader.
I already bricked one phone on 60.16 bootloader and don't want to screw up my replacement.

Those commands are necessary for an upgrade. They won't and should not remove them.

I mean using these commands when downgrading then taking an OTA.
The instructions aren't clear in this regard and people have bricked on the 60.16 bootloader.

If you read the motorola website about the 5.1 update they say that once you upgrade you can't downgrade. We ignore them and do it anyway... So if we brick it, it's our fault not theirs. Their instructions are correct, we are doing something they don't want nor support.

where these images come from? while the official is not released yet.

There is a link now on Motorola's website for the 1095 5.1 factory image. Not working for me, but it's there.

The Motorola link for the 5.1 restore image has been fixed.

I flashed Brazil firmware, then updated OTA, then flashed modems. why was the 1053 instructions removed?

yes, you need to be on stock brazil rom.
i RSD's brazil's 4.4.4 then did the update to 5.0.2, then manually flashed the modems. Then i flashed TWRP, so now i am sitting on a regular rooted xt1058 5.0.2 moto x. The warning people are giving is that once you do this, like previous updates, you cannot RSDlite back to a 4.4.4 build. This is not an issue for us, as we can just flash stuff within TWRP, like krypton, for example.

Need a little help please:
I'm now on cm12, flashed over stock KK rooted (twrp, unlocked BL). I have a nandroid backup of my 4.4.4 rooted made before flashing CM.
If i restore that and then go to the RSD process, will I have any problems "downgrading"?

The only "downgrade" people are talking about is bootloader version. OS version does not matter.
If you were stock KK, then you probably have the KK BL which is the most recent BL besides the 5.0.2 release. Flashing the 5.0.2 release just means you can no longer flassh the stock 4.4 SBF package because that attempts to install the older bootloader. you can still flash the rom associated with the SBF package though twrp, if that makes sense

Very risky flashing a different carriers boot loader and gpt.bin.I would just wait a little bit longer.
Again, please be aware that if you flash another carrier/model 4.4.4 and flash the brazilian OTA, DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT try to downgrade back to your original stock model/carrier 4.4.4 to take the OTA meant for your device
These instructions are fairly easy to follow and people assume it's just as easy to get back where they started but it's not, if you flash the brazilian OTA then be prepared to wait for a leaked 5.0.2 SBF for your model/carrier, there's no guarantee that it will be leaked and even if it is you have to hope that the gpt/bootloader version is the same or newer than the ones in the brazilian OTA
It does work fine but know the risks and don't expect XDA to be able to fix everything

[XT1058] Android 5.1 link

Hello,
I've found a link to the supposedly OTA, but it didn't work with the same method for the 5.0.2, I mean copying to the memory of the phone and trying to update from the settings. I don't know if it is really the 5.1 OTA but feel free to give it a try. I've found it on a comment in a brasilian site: http://www.androidpit.com.br/moto-x-android-update. If any of you guys know how to update please let me know.

Goto the Confirmed Android 5.1 thread, around page 16, there is a mega link of a nadroid backup of 5.1 Brazil for twrp. Download it, extract it to the TWRP/backup folder, boot to recovery, backup your present ROM. Then restore the downloaded nandroid, wipe data, cache, and davlik cache only, reboot into system, profit. This way gpt and boot partitions remained in touched, and no need to revert to Brazilian KitKat, then to 5.0.2, then to 5.1 painful process.

Please don't! Many people bricked the device when trying to roll back from 5.X... If you install the soak test, it is better to wait for the final OTA update...
How to update
Yesterday I found out why in some cases when you place the file in the internal memory it doesn't work, you need to follow the updates sequence to make it work.
So from 4.4.4 you update to 5.0.2 (AKA .31):
Blur_Version.221.41.31.ghost_row.Brasil.en.BR
Then you apply this small patch that still 5.0.2 (AKA .38):
Blur_Version.221.41.38.ghost_row.Brasil.en.BR
And finally you apply the update to 5.1 (AKA .2)
Blur_Version.222.21.2.ghost_row.Brasil.en.BR
Happy flashing.
Kind regards,
Johnny

Yes. All OTA's have been incremental so far, and have a pre-flash validation check to ensure your phone is on the correct level, and if your phone isn't, it wont flash.
It doesn't surprise me that this follows that pattern especially based on its size

What will happen with the official 5.1 release then? They never released an official 5.0.2, so how can they expect people to be upgrading from 5.0.2?

Thanks a lot for the kind warning. After posting this comment I went through many other posts, especially the one by KidJoe. Chances are quite real that one can hard-brick his device by downgrading then upgrading through OTA again.

For those were invited to the MFN Test or Soak, Moto has their IMEI, knows what is on their phone, and will push them the appropriate update to 5.1 final, hence this file's preflash check looking for a particular 5.02. Since we know of two different 5.02 versions (one for the Brazil xt1058 and one for the XT1053), there will be at least two different 5.1 versions that Moto will push to those on the MFN test/soak list.
For the those NOT invited, as in the past Moto will likely compile and push a 4.4.4 -> 5.1 OTA zip for each carrier/model which will have a preflash check looking for the 4.4.4 for the particular carrier/model.
For those that manually applied the 5.x leaks because they were NOT invited to the MFN test/soak, Moto will NOT have their IMEI to push a special version, they will be off stock 4.4.4, and so any 5.1 push from the carrier/moto will fail to install due to the preflash check. They'll either need to revert to 4.4.4 (where GPT.BIN/Motoboot.img have been the cause of many bricks in the past when downgrading, so its expected to continue to be risky going forward), or wait for a leak of the OTA zip they need, or wait for a leak of the 5.1 SBF for their carrier/model.
That is why some suggested if you're not part of the MFN invites, you should wait on installing the 5.x leaks.

MM update brick my phone

I update my phone, but now its stuck on a bootloop, i live in chile now, so i cant send my phone to customer service, i have any option to have the stock firmware and install it?...
Pd: i have the bootloader lock, and i dont have debbuging mode active
Please help me.
Thanks :crying:
Have you tried removing the micro SD then rebooting. That fixed the bootloop for me.
the firmware is corrupted i only can enter to fastboot and recovery mode...
It's unlikely for an OTA to brick a phone. If you flashed any MM ROM, then you should have bootloader already unlocked.
In any case, you can try the MM image from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/help/howto-enable-band-12-moto-pure-mm-ota-t3267057
You can then boot into recovery and try to sideload the image via "adb sideload name-of-file.zip" to see if that fixes it.

Actually I believe Moto has a weird naming convention where they name the OTA zip based on the old firmware version, not the new one. There is only one OTA for the Pure and this one should bring you up to the release MM.

Hmm, should be the right one. But the OTA is a patch, meaning you have to have a working stock firmware to update properly. If your firmware is indeed corrupted somehow, the OTA probably won't work correctly -- and like you said there is no official full signed firmware from Moto
If you are bootloader unlocked, you may want to consider flashing one of the MM pre-built ROMs, but if not, you may be screwed for now unless there is a way to fix your firmware (are you able to do a factory reset from the recovery menu?)
i already do the factory reset... the security in this phone its good, but i fail with something the smathphone almost die... i dont lose the hope yet
thanks for everything

That is not correct.
'Official' status will be shown as long as you don't modify the system or boot partitions.
Unlocking bootloader is an official feature offered by Motorola (though it voids warranty) so that does not do anything to the status.

The point is definitely to solve the problem, which is why we are helping each other here right?
But giving unnecessary instructions will not solve it either. If you don't have a solution, it's best to educate someone on what the implications of the situation is
Unlocking, Custom Recovery, Systemless Rooting.. These do not change it to modified, but changing in system, oem or other partitions do (debloating, xposed or i dont remember all)
According to me, that status doesn't matter, nowhere in daily use...
Best & only way to make it official is to Downgrade to lower version of official ROM than available by OTA (as now available ROM is NPJ25.93-14 install NPJ25.93-11 or lower, not '25.93-14' )
Than you will receive OTA update to latest one '25.93-14' and completing that will result in official status...
NOTE: Installing update by zip, (available here) will not do anything.. And versions that i mentioned are of INDIAN variant, so check & take care of outside variants...

Those that have used it with the X1575 have got it to rise from the dead by using the 6.0 firmware. Worth a try. Not sure how exactly they did since they need gpt.bin and bootloader.img from nougat. They also used the X1572 loader.img here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...t1572-t3693860

links a 404.
6.0 firmware wont work (i've tried). Need the 7.0 bootloader file to flash
1572 loader works but requires leaving it in/on the sd card to boot.
