[Q] How to change boot animation in S5 duos? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have previously owned many android devices in changing the boot animation only require me to replace 'bootanimation.zip' on '/system/media' but as far as my knowledge it is not the same with S5.
I refered a guide onlline and they require me to flash a zip file after which I will be able to change the boot animations as normal (link: http://gs5.wonderhowto.com/how-to/easily-change-boot-animations-your-samsung-galaxy-s5-0157380/ )
I flashed the file and downloaded a bootanimation that is XXHDPI (1080*1920) and placed it in /system/media, renamed it as 'bootanimation.zip' and changed the permissions read,write for owner and all other as just read.
Now when I reboot my device just skips the bootanimation, someone please help

How to change boot animation for rooted SGS?

I have rooted my SGS and would like to change the boot animation to the original. I have already got the original boot animation .png files but I do not know how to replace it to current animation files.
Anybody?
if they are in the .qmg format, then i think you have to push your .qmg file to
system/media/
if they aren't then you have to make an update.zip file and put the files in appropriate folder and update your phone.
search the forum for more info on how to..

Boot Animation

Does anyone know how to make a boot animation? I haven't rooted my phone (yet!), but I wanted to make my own boot animation. What would be the easiest way to do this?
you can replace the bootanimation.zip from folder "system\customize\resource".
Bootanimation
If you have rooted the phone you could replace the standard bootanimation executable with Cyanogen's. That one allow for more flexibility for custom animation. Cyanogen's boot animation's are series of PNG files of certain size placed in a single zip file. There is also a small description file that allows for setting up loops and have different frame rates for different pieces of the animation.
Just make sure that when you compiling the zip file you specify zero compression option (store).

[Q] i9505 OMEGA 31

Can someone please advise how I restore the default boot animations on the OMEGA rom? I have downloaded the file from the OMEGA files fileserver.
I tried placing the bootanimation.zip in /system/media and also tried to use install from TWRP.
I have tried searching but not finding the exact procedure.
Thanks

First, if you've tried flashing a .zip via TWRP or other recovery and your phone now goes blank between the S4 logo and the full boot you might have to contend with a broken boot animation... Personally it bothered me so much I reflashed Omega lol.
I downloaded on my phone the Samsung S5 boot/Shutdown animations.
Using E/S File explorer I first renamed the following files on the phone:
"/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg" => "/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg.old"
"/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg" => "/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg.old"
"/system/media/shutdown.qmg" => "/system/media/shutdown.qmg.old"
I decompressed the S5.zip archive.
I copied from the archive "S5.zip/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg", "S5.zip/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg" and the "S5.zip/system/media/shutdown.qmg" into /system/media
Again using ES file explorer I set one by one the new file attrubutes so that they would be -wr-r--r--
Reboot the phone and voila - new boot animation.
If this works you can then delete the .old files in /system/media
If you want to load other boot animations there are enablers and disablers for the bootanimation.zip but I stayed clear as I want mine as standard as possible.

please help me i want to change my boot animation... thanks
Samsung's Touchwiz doesn't support bootanimation.zip but the QMG format. Search the S4 Themes and Apps subforum as there is a thread with custom boot animations in it that are compatible with Touchwiz. One of those should work for you. Otherwise you have to make your own, which requires Samsung software on the PC.

[GUIDE] CM13 Boot Animation not changing in cm themer

Guys I've also faced the same problem the animation we change is generally stored in system/media but you need to paste the bootanimation.zip in data/system/theme and just reboot the device
