t520 and 2 red samurai controllers - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 General

Alls I got to say is this helps pass the time.
All I need is my emulators and a couple Bluetooth controllers and I'm suddenly the most popular guy at work. NFL blitz tournaments get pretty heated up here.
Just flashed graved ROM and updated the kernel, I've had this tablet for a week or 2 now and absolutely love it.

This Tablet is Amazing!

First of all I'm sorry if you regard my thread as just filling up the general forum. But I wanted to counter my experience thus far with the TF to those that are bashing it.
I sold my ipad 1 to buy the TF
This OS is definitely in beta; however I'm impressed with how fluid everything is including menus and screen transitions and the Widgets that are available. I've had almost no issues other than some light bleed and a backlight bug.
Thumb keyboard is so awesome on here and I enjoy it much better than my ipad.
Gaming on this is a treat; there is something truly amazing about pulling a portable N64 or PSX out of my bag and gaming with a WiiMote. Not to mention FF1 with a gba emulator. This doesn't account for the android games available in the market either including monster madness and Riptide GP that I'm loving right now. Oh and the flashed based kongregate arcade with its 400+ flash games.
Browsing the web is beautiful; putting this beast in portrait and viewing a webpage is amazing. Browsing for something to buy on amazon or Google shopping is awesome when I can view such a long list of the products. Flash is something that I have unknowingly been missing and is now rediscovered with my Transformer.
I have experienced a few force closes and 1 or 2 restarts but my device is rooted and running a custom rom and kernel and clocked at 1.4ghz.
Right now I'm on graveyard shift at work; the work computer goes into a deep freeze at midnight so I can't use it and we have no wifi. Solution? Tether my TF to my Droid X and watch Hulu or megavideo which are both silky smooth and beautiful on this screen.
Ipads are good devices but this thing is an outstanding device.
I'm a happy owner.

I've been patiently waiting until paychecks come in to be able to pick one of these lovelies up, teasing myself by reading here and there in the forums but I didn't realize I could connect a Wiimote as a controller for the emulators. I'm going to have to track down that thread soon, thanks for mentioning this possibility! Tuesday can't get here soon enough, hoping my local Fry's will still have one when I'm ready. Wooooo!
Don't feel sorry mate I've used the IPAD 1 & 2 the galaxy tab and the zoom....... this tablet is a clear champion over all of them......I love my tf a lot too
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Yeah, loving mine now that I've got one without lightbleed and dead pixels.
I'll have to take a look at overclocking at some point...... (or just wait until TF201 with the Tegra 3!)
I just sold my iPad 2 last night (For full price) because since I have had a Transformer, my iPad was never used.

new xperia play owner on thur

so im coming from sprint Samsung epic 4g (no 4g in des moines ia) well im switchin to Verizon for the Xperia play as i allways play Emulators on my epic with the keyboard and all those RPG games thats on the market and i been wanting to replay Resident evil 2 and dino crisis (which is very hard to play on a keyboard phone lol)
but i been hearing some stuff that the xperia play cant play alot of ps1 games on FPSE becuase its slow old hardware. people told me to go to the Droid X2 or the Samsung charge but it will be even harder to play games on those becuase there is no keyboard or game pad, so my question is, is the xperia play worth the 49.99$ then the 299$ samsung charge and droid x2? like i said im coming from a Samsung epic which i guess is a little faster (and i have roms on it that speed it up alot as i see the xperia play has not got Root yet for the verizon phone) so im hoping that someday the xperia play will get root and roms soon.
how is speed in terms of Broswer wise? i do heavy broswing and textin i also saw the battery life sucks on this phone (becuase root has not came out yet as the epic prob has the same battery life with out root)
im just tryin get some more answers and feed back from XDA as the people at the store dont know what there talkin about and i asked if they knew about emulators on the phone and they said they have no idea what those are
This blows my old Captivate away, and that's pretty much the same as the Epic. I've had no lag in any game. The Charge has almost the exact same specs if I remember correctly. The Droid X 2 is made by Motorola...enough said. Lol.
I haven't had any problems with FPSE, but I don't play very many PS1 games.
It could be optimized with ROM's, but they'll be here eventually.
Browser speed is fine and battery life is much better than my Captivate.
Welcome aboard.

I get a good 10-12 hours out of it with heavy use. I've been using my iPad 2 a lot these last few days and have only used the Play for a few phone calls and a lot of texting. I could have went 2 days without charging it.
I only got about 6-7 out of the Cappy with the same usage, and that's stretching quite a bit.
how is the 3G? anyone know if its faster then Sprint 3g wise? or is 3g all the same?
thats cool for battery and that means it will only get better once root and roms come
i just dont understand why didnt sony go to samsung for there better GPU and CPU i hear the adreno 205 is slow compared to the hummingbird )
Root is here and working and has been for a while
If you get a xplay on gingerbread 2.3.2 it's straight forward with a one click tool installed with an .apk called gingerbreak. If it comes with 2.3.3 it's another story you'll need to downgrade to 2.3.2 then rot with above tool and then update your phone OTA.
It's only xplay model R800i/a/ that can be rooted, I'm not sure about R800at and last R800x can't as of yet be rooted.
Check the development section for further info
Regards Dousan...
well i looked around a little bit and i guess the verizon model is the R800X? if im right? and it seems ALL verizon models cant be rooted
Thanks for this thread. I'm looking at switching from my Fascinate to this. Wondering about battery life and how is the GPS system? My Fascinate is terrible about GPS, but my girl's Incredible 2 locks on fast. How fast does the Play lock-on?
The GPS of this phone is terrific, actually: it's probably the dark horse of its functionalities.
Icebear...FPSE runs awesomely on the Verizon Xperia Play (r800x). I've only played Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Destruction Derby and Nectaris but I get 60 fps on all of those without a problem. I had to slow down Destruction Derby because it ran too fast.
I too was deciding between getting the absolute fastest phone available versus the Play with its controls. If you plan on using emulators, then there is no question, get the Play. I can't imagine trying to play Castlevania or Destruction Derby with my thumbs covering part of the screen or without any kind of tactile feedback. Trust me, this thing is awesome with emulators and the controls are just as good as any dedicated gamepad (except for the analog pads(vs. the analog joysticks on the PSX controller) which I don't use anyway...but are supported with the latest FPSE release). I am beyond happy with this device because I'm into classic games and this plays most of them flawlessly (some PSX games have sound issues...check the compatibility guide on the FPSE website. The developer is always updating the emulator to improve compatibility).
The GPS works great using Google Maps...much quicker to lock on than my iphone3g that I used previously.
If you are a gamer, grab the play.
The battery life is awesome with or without root compared to my old htc phone. I'm have 3g turned off most of the time though, but I'm a heavy brwoser on opera and it will last more then 10 hours

game loft games? I'm thinking of buying a nook and have um teen dollars invested on those games. also are there mods available that give this device the capability of running tegra zone games as well. not much of a significant selling point compared to its price drop alone. what would really sell me the usb otg host support mod that was released earlier this year by someone. i would like to know how that's holding up. I'm looking for a good reason to buy this over a china tablet with attractive specs. lol.

It sounds like for the most part, yes, but you probably have to jump through some hoops to get them to install. I've only personally tried one or two of the "lite" versions they offer on the google market and they worked ok. I'm not sure how getting them from Gameloft works, but if you have the apk's, it will probably help.
For the USB host mode -- I've personally used it successfully with both a keyboard and mouse plugged directly into the Nook (I haven't tried both at the same time). In general, a hub should help to get most devices working, and a powered one is needed for higher-drain devices like external hard drives, etc. I couldn't find them right now, but there should be some more threads about this, if you're interested.
Ps. for many games [and emulators], the Wii remotes and PS3 controllers work very well.
I've successfully played Pinball and a couple others, and Tegra Zone works fine too. Haven't tried many yet, but with the chainfire app and the driver plugins you should be able to play most of them. Pinball runs great on my Nook, I'm overclocked to 1.2Ghz on CM7.1 stable.

Modern Combat 5 on Mad Catz MOJO & CTRLR

Youtube I'll record a better video next week.
I installed MC5 using steps bellow, it works flawlessly on MOJO, all menus work in game smart mode (no mouse switching) but the only issue I have is with the analog triggers, You have to squeeze them completely (100%) for them to work, and the weapon trigger is on R2.
Good game so fare, requires a good internet connection my 3G drops bad in wet weather.
Installed using Market Helper:
reboot the mojo
make sure location access is on.
I installed it as follows:
Install the app from the link.
Force stop google store
Run the app,
I picked:
Selected Tablet, Nvidia Shield
Pick your country and ISP
and activated.
Logged into google for device registration.
Start google store and your favs should be purchasable.
It's a hit and miss process but it does work, all the games above were able to be installed expect GTA-4.
If it still fails force stop google store, rerun the market helper app and check.
if it still fails clear the data on both service and store and force stop google store, rerun makert helper.
On SW reboot and service/store data clear it remembered the settings for me.

UPDATE:
The game works perfect in game mode, but in multiplayer there's an issue.
I recommend people send a bug report to:
http://support.gameloft.com/Home/SupportForm/321/
ie:
Just want to let you know of a bug I found using my mad catz MOJO and CTRLR controller.
The game and controller work 100% perfectly in game mode.
But in multiplayer the right analog stick activates the aim (weapon sight) when push 100% to the left.
Kind of annoying, but if you need any more information, please email.
Thanks

What's you favorite class? I know that game has voice chat so would a Bluetooth headset work?
Basically the red32, hip fire no aim. Its unfairly over powered hence why everyone's using it. The recon class is OK when you have all the perks for radar display etc but all the guns are like spud guns. The last gun is OK but still a fraction of the power the red has.
I played it until all the classes where fully upgraded bar the sniper class took about a week I got bored of it through over playing I guess they made it more suited to people with touch screens so when using a controller its so simple.
I only really used to struggle against the top top squads anyone outside the top 10 where easy pickings
I like assult and recon, I don't know how they do the servers but over wifi it lags badly.. I'll try ethernet... shame there's no local multiplayer.

Interesting reading the MC5 forum: http://www.gameloft.com/?request=forum&url=forumdisplay.php?1647-Modern-Combat-5
voice chat haven't tried it, and haven't heard other people talking either.
I agree with Ash180287 everybody is using mostly that gun, I hope they fix that to

Yeah using the ctlrl and the note 3 over wifi, I never had any issues with lag at all, am lucky enough to have 160mb fiberoptic though so that might have something to do with it also my note 3 receives nightly os updates unlike one of my devises (nudge nudge madcats)
I did find the ctlrl not that accurate/smooth with aiming. However with the assaults u only need the cross hairs on the target no aimings required so it wasn't the end in the world. And that's not me saying theirs something up with the controller imagine its the same case for all the other controller out there.
With the assaults u only need 3 bullets to penetrate for a kill and they have range, where as the recons require a good 8 shots ot connect unless point blank and as soon as you factors in range an assault will mow you down every time.
When I was levelling my classes I dropped my win ratio and kd down to 1.0ish after sticking to the red for a few nights I got it back to 3.0 on both pretty quick, **** thing is Gameloft boot you from most your games as soon as you hit 20-0 in a match or really high kills to low deaths your automatically labeled in with the hackers and cheaters and booted from the lobby. Total bs if u look on the forum theres loads a people moaning about it.
Once ur in with a good squad because all your team provide really good covering fire for each other you don't get killed that much so its a regular occurance

Just sent a bug report to Gameloft about the controller issue. Lets hope they fix it soon.

I don't get why they don't just create a mapping feature like all emulators have... then controller support wouldn't be an issue.

You can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-fake-wifi-connection-t2800416
I've used it and works well.
basically, install the framework, then the module, then configure the module to run on MC5.
Oh great gwaldo! Now I can actually not worry then I get MC5 and MOJO.
New multiplayer maps not on MOJO?
Has anyone managed to update MC5 on the MOJO to get the new maps yet? I get the new maps on my Lenovo tablet and my LG G3 phone but even after uninstalling and reinstalling MC5 on the MOJO I'm still stuck with the same old 3 multiplayer maps.
New maps have arrived
Checked last night and an update was available. The new multiplayer maps have arrived for the Mojo! We now have both Scramble and Overtime but without those annoying santas everywhere. It's a win-win.

[Q] One year later, what are your thoughts on the Ouya?

It's been a little more than 14 months since the Ouya was released last year on June 25th, 2014, which is a decent amount of time to let the device mature.
I bought the device with XBMC in mind, with a chance of a little game development if I ever had the time (I haven't had the time, unfortunately). Today, I still use my Ouya almost daily, but it's almost exclusively for XBMC.
As an XBMC box, I am fairly happy with it, although the streaming and overall UI performance of the overall device could be better. I was into emulation early on when I first bought the Ouya, and it played some retro games sufficiently although it wasn't spectacular with performance and bug issues in the emulators. The controller lag on my Ouya has been unbearable at times, but I had a few controllers replaced by Ouya Inc, which alleviates some of the issues.
As far as installing custom firmware and tweaks, I haven't had too much time to research into an effective combination to improve my experience with the device. In fact, I haven't had a chance to research into the cool things I can do with this little box yet.
All in all, I am fairly happy with my Ouya, and I don't regret the purchase at all, but I am curious what the community thinks of the Ouya after being out in the wild for a year.
Do you still use your Ouya? How so? What apps and programs are you running on it? What games do you play on it? What custom firmware do you run on it?
For xbmc it is OK, I upgraded to a chromebox for my main unit. Kids like playing with it. Emulators work decent. It is now in my kids playroom and they mainly watch cartoons on it. Some Mario and king of monsters. No custom software. I wouldn't say I regret it but I probably should of read up more before buying
nice paperweight
When I first got my ouya I tried some games from the Discover section. They were alright but overall I felt I was just paying too much for android games just because this was boasted as a console. I had hoped for controller support for apps like Minecraft PE or Terraria but neither ever came. It sat in my room for several months as a paperweight and a reminder to not be so quick to back things on Kickstarter. Finally I went to update it and then flash a custom rom onto it and the microusb port was shot. I had to get it replaced so they gave me a refurbished Ouya... not a new one, not even an old one with my KS case back, just a plain case. I updated it and honestly haven't done much with it since. I tried setting it up as a chromecast but it didn't work so it's back to being a paperweight and still works to this day when it comes to keeping me from binge-funding on Kickstarter.
Some games I have enjoyed on it are Amazing Frog, Final Fantasy III (even though it's the same graphics as the Nintendo DS... which I have), and a handful of emulators. I would've bought Towerfall if it wasn't the same price as the PC version. Nothing justifies paying $15 for an android app imo
I bought my Ouya a year ago and I never regret it. I use it every day with XBMC. But these days I tried to play some retro games on emulator SFC NES etc. Super Metroid is fun. Honestly,Ouya platform lacks amazing games. Townfall is great but will you pay almost $15 for it? The only app I bought on Ouya is a sleep app that can emulate sounds of sea waves and stream. The steam machine would replace my Ouya in the future. I'd rather pay money for PC games because of the quality and game experience.

Buh-bye Ouya...got an Amazon FireTV and never looked back. Dammit, I even paid 20$ to get a Noctua silent fan (the original was driving me nuts). Any takers?
One year later I'm still using my Ouya regularly.
I’ve had my Ouya for over a year and have had a great experience with it. The system was ‘as advertised’ where you get a base system and with research, effort, a “do it yourself attitude”, a little know how, and patience can get something good out of it. It was designed for the casual gamer, designers, and modders. A selective audience, so I wasn’t expecting the instant gratification of a 5 star product with all the bells and whistles or components that weren’t yet released. In the end, the system is as good as YOU make it.
Currently I’m using it as a media center as well as a gaming platform with CM11 being the primary OS with the Ouya Everywhere framework on top (it works!). When I’m not using a hub for keyboard and mouse I keep a micro 64GB Drive for additional storage in the USB port.
Additional Apks for performance and operation tweaking such as Folder Mount, Screen Rotation, RamExpander, Ouya Mod Collection, ES File Explorer, Clean Master, Air Droid, Shutdown Menu 2.1, Tincore Keymapper, and QuickShortcutMaker.
Media includes: XBMC, Crackle, Viewster, CW, Fox Now, CBS, NBC, History, PBS Kids, Watch Disney, UVideos, WatchESPN, Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, FilmOn, Giniko TV, SPB TV, Twitch, AllCast Reciever
Games include (Note: no “tweaking” needed to be done. Just install and enjoy.): SoulCalibur (Android Version), Asphalt 8, Shadowgun, Dead Trigger 2, Dream League Soccer, Skiing Fred, Sonic CD(Amazon), Sonic 4ep I & II, Cordy 2, Tiny Little Racing 2, N.O.V.A.3, EDGE Extended(Amazon), Riptide GP2, ,Zen Pinball, PPSSPP, Neon Shadow(Ouya Store), Tetris Battle Fusion(Ouya Store), Other Emulators(Ouya Store)
Now there were some setbacks where there were some Google/Amazon games that have controller support but I have not yet been able to get to work on Ouya even with CM11. (Respawnables, Shadow Fight 2, Transformers: Age of Extinction, ShadowGun: DeadZone)
Are there better things out there now? Yes. With effort, can this product still be useful for video and gaming? Yes.
Not a gamer, well exceded my expectations for video/server
Very happy with it, played with games a bit but was underwhelmed. To be fair I get bored with current gen consoles too.
I've got CM11 with Kodi (XBMC 14), Netflix, google music, and assorted A/V apps.
Also have sickbeard, nbzget, transmission, and a few other Linux untils installed via optware.
I bought to replace a pogoplug running Arch linux and an older wd frontend device.
Works phenomenally, even plays 10bit mkv without major issue.
To be fair any decent current android stick/STB could likely handle what I need. When bought is was the best performance per dollar.
If buying now I'd get a http://www.solid-run.com/ cubox-1 eSata, 2 usb, gigabit lan.
Probably still run android on the top, linux userland on the bottom.
Controller is hopeless though. Hausbell h7 is good and only $15, just a minor twaek to the .kl file and great

Would be too much trouble to ship to US...I am in Canada.
New to OUYA and loving it !
Goal:
To have media center and information KIOSK in Smart Electric Vehicle.
The OUYA is 12 volt and I am using Insignia HDTV also 12 volt.
Next step is to check power quality of DC to DC (12v) converter in car.
OUYA rumored to be at risk on noisy power in ICE vehicle.
Samsung Tab 2 on Verizon will be HOT Spot with Beagle Bone Black as Web Server.
Also installed XDA One with limited use due to navigation hassles.
I'm considering buying one soon
Was fun to tinker with, but gets no use now
The ouya was a cool idea that never really paid out. I bought mine last xmas, downloaded xbmc, rooted it and played a few ps1 games on an emulator and never used it again. It never receieved the support it deserved and was forgotten mostly because of that. I still check in on these forums time to time just to check if anyone has completed any useful custom roms, but no luck yet(still waiting on that Android TV port). I have a chromecast, netflix and a macbook so XBMC feels pretty bad to me tbh. Everytime I want to use XBMC it has to update all the addons, then half the time the primewire app doesn't even work, and I'll have to try project free TV(which only works about half the time as well). So netflix or streaming off my macbook via chromecast is almost always the better option. I would like to see some more life in my ouya again, but just about all my other devices function better. An Android gaming system is a very cool concept, it sucks that the execution was so poor/supporting apps are so few.
Disappointed...
The device has potential but or the lack of software or the fact that are cheap Android Sticks out there that can do almost the same makes me feel disappointed...
Have one and i only use it for XBMC/Kodi, but my Raspberry Pi is able to handle that too so...
Bought it like many others as the best hardware for the price at the time. Primarily for XBMC with the potential for Android Apks to unleash further potential
Probably wish I had gone with Amazon Fire TV in hindsight.
It now sits gathering dust - Chromecast is used for all the kids stuff - cartoons etc
And I have an AMlogic Minix X8H for XBMC/SPMC - which I like and may look to install alternative ROMs etc.
It's nice. I can't say I love it, but I don't hate it, either. I had some fun with three or four games, and I sometimes emulate something on it. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody, but I don't regret buying it.
The Ouya is a good dust-collector now.
The fan is too loud for using it as TV Multimedia player. The lags are too big for using it as SNES-Emulator. There is still no easy-to-install Linux port, since the community wasn't interested in the Ouya.
So all in all it is a big fail. But the controllers are good, I use them when I emulate SNES in Windows now (where it works fine and without lags).

Nicely said. Never understood why they did not include Netflix, Hulu, Amazon? This made it so I had to shut off my Ouya and use another box for these apps or sideload them (much cleaner on Fire or android tv anyway). The lack of leadership in the public eye has really hurt them?Have heard next to nothing from Julie in a good while? Then there is the outdated chipset to me putting the old model back in stock would not be a good business move for Ouya just my opinion. I have had issues with there forum very poor additude!
