Looking for a G4 owner that can assist in debugging an issue with my app - G4 General

Hi G4 owners,
I'm working on an android app where users can go to stores, collect media for vendors at said stores, and then upload the media to my servers.
The problem: I have one really loyal user who is on a G4 and he keeps running into an issue where he can't upload his data. He's not the most technically-apt person and, since the G4 is so new, I can't find a cloud testing service that has the G4 available.
I'd like to ask for assistance from someone that has a G4 and knows (or is willing to learn) the basics of using logcat. The odd thing is I'm not able to replicate this issue on my nexus 6 (5.1) and samsung s6 (5.0).
Any G4 owner that could help would be greatly appreciated; I'll try to make it worth your time.

I'm intrigued, can you tell me more about your app?

Hi flex0r,
It's a merchandising application. Users are allowed to select certain stores and collect different type of feedback based on that store's project outline (interview a manager, restock a shelf with a certain product brand, take a picture of a promotion display, etc). Once we've received and processed this data from the user we compensate them with paypal credit.

Nice, I haven't got a lot of logcat experience but definitely a tinkerer that can help you out!

Awesome! I'll PM you the details.

I haven't been able to get a response from flex0r, so I believe he's likely occupied.
Still looking for a willing candidate with a G4 to test some things.

I sent you a PM.

Hey Cebalrai, I bounced you back a PM.
I hope it's not being filtered because this account is new. Let me know if you didn't get it.

Hey buddy,
I will be more than happy to help you out with this project, though I absolutely HATE PayPal and their policies, so I will do this just to give you a hand and AM NOT look for compensation for any work I do for you.

Hey ZeldaFan,
I don't need you to actually go anywhere and submit authentic data - I just need someone on a G4 to download my app, login with details I'll provide, and attempt to upload any media (pictures/video).
I'll PM you some additional details.

I have a spare Google Voice Invite

I signed up for google voice months ago, and today got an invite through
Unfortinatly, its for US users only and i live in the UK.
Im willing to give this to someone here who is a active member of the forum, lives in the US and who deserves it because he/she helps people or has made great contributions to this forum ect.
So I think we should take a vote on who this goes to, and no voting for yourself. Whoever has the most votes gets it.
Too bad I'm pretty new to these forums, I would sure like one
Can I have it?
I'd be up for it.
I'm too new again to nominate anyone.
Course... I'm in the US and would love to have it :->
I'd love to have it.
If it is not tied to the email you signed up for in the waiting list, I too am willing to give out an invite.
i remember back when Gmail was invite only, i had the fortune to be one of the first and always gave invited out to everybody LOL
anyway, i would love to try this new voice service, any chance i could get an invite please??
thanks
A little tip for some of you guys. If you haven't already done so, go ahead and sign yourself up for an invite on the official google voice page.
Google is rolling out invites pretty fast right now. My brother signed up for an invite about 4 days ago and he just got his invite. He did sign up for an invite twice, don't know if that would make a difference, but trying doesn't harm anybody.
I already got mine about a month ago. Now if only we had an awesome app to work with.

Agreed this google voice thing is nice but without a app on wm its just doesn't do anything for me unfortunatly.
Still up for grabs if anyone who has a higher post count wants it.
Google voice seriously needs a Windows Mobile App.
I would like to give it a try if it's still available.
Not a mega poster or ROM developer, but try to help when I can.
Thanks!
Update: I got an invite from Google, no need to be considered. Thanks!
Google Voice is AWSOME Free Long Distance calls from home phone
i think it'd be nice to give it to someone with a high post count, contributed to the community and has at least a star next to their name. i'm not talking about myself.
nobody saw this app ?

GV Dialer
Though it costs 10$ after the 30 day trial www.gvdialer.com has a decent option.
It's the best I've used I think between OneDialer / iDialer, etc etc
It makes calling extremely easy, no doubt someone could replicate the concept and produce a similar app here.
Though we definitely need the ability to send texts.

Already saw those apps and I was concerned about privacy. Everything goes through a relay server which is not encrypted. The author of that app may have the best of intentions, but I don't take chances in this matter.
I'm not sure if my post count is high enough or how much contribution you're looking for but I had a few helpful posts in the early days of the Fuze, helped out Herg and 12aon with their interfaces and would love to have it if it's still available.
ITNV has the highest post count that was intrested in it so it has been sent to him.
I would like to try the google voice service. I do helps people in the forum and make roms for other. Hopes I can get the invite.

if you could, I shall pm you my email? many thanks either way
I've got a bunch leftover as well. PM me. (and then help me get Zenulators 1.6 build working on my Vogue haha...)

I've started an Android "brain trust" wave so far... trying to get all the pertinent info we have her eon the forums onto another medium. Seems to be working so far. Do a search for Android braintrust, let me know what you find. Also if you could PM me your google wave address, I'll add you to my contacts and then to the Wave.
hello
I have a couple of friends who have received the google wave as well yet they haven't received extra invites to pass out, so I would be so appreciative if some one was to send me one, I would be glad to pm my gmail addy to whoever could send one, no worries either way, thank you.
Currently I use google docs with people in my company to manage documents and stuff. Once Wave gets developed and opened more I feel like we will probably move some of our stuff to that for collaboration.
hey if anyone gets more of the invites let me know, i have been itching to try it out i'll pm you my Gmail address
Unfortunately I have no invites to give out yet, but I'll keep XDA in mind. Here's a secret, a ton are being given away in the Wave subReddit.
Google Wave is slow, but usable in Android browser, even at 320x240. Has anyone else experimented with this?
Hey,
I was wondering if anybody had any Wave invites left, I know polyrythmic ran out but if anybody else could lend me a hand, that would be awesome.
i just got on wave i will let you know if i get any

I threw it on virtualbox. It's okay and a pretty neat concept for the older generation. It's kind of refreshing to see a Linux platform that's not the typical GDE or KDE interface and simplifies things. For me, I would never use it on a day to day basis but I can see where google was going. If anything, Ubuntu is still the main Linux platform opposed to Windows or Macs for everyday users.
the only thing i wished is that they didnt demand SSD, think of all the legacy equipment that cant run a newer operating system and is just planning on being thrown out, esp since they cant support alot of newer software.
things like that i hope the open source community would help in porting with, it will extend the life out of alot of computers

Looking for a developer to help with an app idea

I hope this isn't prohibited by forum rules - if it is, please notify me and I will request that the thread be closed.
Problem is, I'm not a developer. I would love to be one, but I've tried my hand at it in the past and am old enough to know my limitations...coding is one of them.
I'm looking for someone with app development experience who would be willing to develop my idea into an app in exchange for some equity in the finished product.
If you know how to develop apps, are looking for an interesting app to develop, and would consider investing development work for equity, please PM me.
Thanks, and I hope this post does not offend anyone or break any rules.
If you state your idea, you're more likely to get a response.
I get the impression the OP thinks their idea is too valuable to be publicly disclosed. I'd be surprised if anyone took up such an offer - essentially they get to do all the work in return for the idea & 'some equity' in the finished product. Even if you could first establish you have a history of creating marketable ideas I'd not rate your chances.
If someone has a project they want implementing they're more than likely going to need to offer a fee, not merely a percentage. Sites such as Elance provide a means to match up projects with programmers - btw I have no connection to them; I just googled android project proposals bids.
In any case, if you have no money to finance such a project, you probably won't even have the resources to draw up a legally binding contract, so good luck enforcing any arrangements you might come up with.
TBH the OP's best bet is either learn to code & do it themself, or as atolar suggests, make the idea public & hope if anyone bothers with the idea that they're willing to let them have a (small) share of any resulting equity.
[Edit:] BTW I'd be interested to be proved wrong. If the OP finds someone willing to carry out their work, I hope they'll let us know.

I don't mean to come across that way. Understand that the one person who replied got the full idea without any sort of upfront requirements.

I've paid for development projects before, and understand the industry. But I have to look at other options for this idea. I've hired people looking for development experience in the past, some of whom were willing to take a stake in the idea...just thought I'd float it here.

Luckily (or unluckily haha), I'm a lawyer, so I have the transactional stuff covered.

I wish I could learn code - unfortunately I spent 7 years learning a completely different field of study, and am too old and not nearly smart enough to pick up coding in any way that would produce quality software. I've tried, and had to be honest with myself and admit that coding is not tailored for a brain like mine.

Only one person has replied, and he felt that he didn't have the experience to execute the idea. You sound as if you are experience with android - I'd be happy to PM you with the idea so that you can at least tell me if it's something worth pursuing. Willing to hear the idea out and provide some feedback?
Thanks, and take care.

Thanks for the detailed reply. It's always interesting to read of others' experience & involvement in development. Alas I'm not an experienced Android dev myself, though I do have a background in programming (mostly C, going back a couple of decades, but nothing recent).
I've only started to get interested in Android since buying an HTC Hero about a month ago. It is an appealing platform though; I plan on brushing up my somewhat lacking Java skills & dabbling a little but it will be a good while before I'm up to speed.
I hope you find someone who can take your ideas further forward & that if you do, you'll let us know how it goes. Feel free to PM me if you still feel my feedback might be of use to you. Either way, best of luck

Someone has offered to take on the project. I will update with development progress and information as I get it.
Thanks for the interest folks!

Want to hire someone to write and app to pull info from my website.

Is anyone interested in writing an app to pull data from my website?
I'm not looking for anything flashy, just something to search or pull
the new entries.
PM me Information
Hi there....I'd like to develop for you. Just send me some further information via PM.
Best Regards,
Hans Moleman
So it's been 3 months since I've looked into this. I've talked to a few people, but no one has gotten back to me more than once or twice. I would still like to have this made. If anyone out there is interested, please let me know. Thanks!
Okay, I know I know nothing more than what you've said above, but to me it sounds like you may just need to add an RSS feed to your site. Then any reader app (Google reader?) can read it.
I understand I may be way off the mark, but that was my first thought.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
I've attached a couple images of what I'd like it to look like. The site itself already detects the device being used to access it and configures the page view appropriately. The big thing I guess is the main screen.
I've put a quick app together that uses the rss feed, but it's really ugly and not at all how I'd like the main page to display. I know very little of programming and even less about putting Android apps together. I did get in the Google App Inventor, but was still unable to put anything useful together. Maybe during Christmas break I'll try again...
I will have some free time in the coming weeks if you don't find anyone before Christmas send me a PM.

The site currently has a mobile version. It auto-detects the OS that is accessing it and reconfigures it appropriately. The only problem is that it's kind of limiting. You can't search easily, you can't submit information, etc. It's a really watered down version of the site. At least the main page is.
Ideally I would like people to be able to pull up the app in the movie theater either before or after to see if there is anything they need to know about beforehand or submit information via the multiple ways I provide afterwards.
Hi
This is sofian i have developed many android apps..i m interested to work...
My skype id is: sofian_sunny
hotmail [email protected]
Thanks
sofian
I know it's been a while since I've posted this on here and just as long since I've been in contact with anyone. With that being said, I would still like to do this. Here is the major problem: I don't have the cash to pay someone to do this. The site doesn't generate very much income at all right now. Although, about 75% of my traffic is from mobile users as well as the little ad income I get.
With that being said, I am more than willing to enter in a contract with the developer that states something like we will split the income from the app say 60/40 (you/me) until xx day or xx amount of dollars are met. I would like two versions; one ad supported and one ad-free, but paid (.99 or so).
I tried to also get a Kickstarter going for this, but for me to even start a campaign, I need more delepment information like timelines, mock-ups, sketches, etc.
If anyone is seriously interested, please either post back here or send me a PM.
P.S. Please, please only serious developers that can agree to the terms above. I don't need to speak with any more developer houses where we talk and all of a sudden they say it'll cost x amount of dollars. I said above I don't have the cash currently to pay for this, that's not going to change unless I win the lottery!

I do appreciate your input but this 'questionnaire has nothing to do with 'improving our experience'.
Hobby, work, income, school.....really ?!
When they would ask me what to improve SPECIFICALLY for this AXON7 i would agree and give input, but this....no way this catch my attention, sorry.

Then dont participate in the questionnaire. Its market research for them and helps them to see our needs. It can still help for this phone if they see software being a problem, they can improve.
Done, even I'm from The Netherlands.

Come on, really ? Needs? There is just one way to help in our needs that is to launch a "questionnaire", let's call it survey where we can put directly in written our needs, our specific problems and wishes.
This survey is totally commercial and has no use (to me) to improve things directly on the A7.

It's done! And I so hope they will open to ROM development. I went out of the Samsung ecosystem for exactly that reason.
Face it ZTE, happiest customers have dpi changer in display options, root access in the developers options... Things like that.

This is not ranting my friend, just commenting .
This is an old plain, general and ordinary survey my friend with no direct use specific to our NEEDS for SPECIFIC improvement for our model.
Like i said : a specific survey especially for all the needs and comments made over the couple of months would be much much better.
