Odin fail with aboot.mbn - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Bought a new Galaxy S5 G900F privately and noticed I am not getting any updates, the phone is rooted. So I decided to go back to stock, but after following the how-to guides, I get to the point where Odin (any version - 3.09 down to 3.04) fails with the error:
<ID:0/004> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/004> SingleDownload.
<ID:0/004> aboot.mbn
<ID:0/004> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/004> FAIL! (Auth)
<ID:0/004>
<ID:0/004> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
On the phone I get the message : Secure Check Fail: Aboot.
I have double checked that the Reactivation lock is unchecked, and the Developer options are enabled.
Not really sure where to go from here. I am using the "G900FXXU1BOC7_G900FO2U1BOC1_O2U.zip" stock firmware. There are no labels on the original box that indicates the phone is locked to any particular region. Current android version is 4.4.2 with a build number of S5G900FXXU1ANJ1.
Any help appreciated.
Adrian

Hello,
It is a error caused by your CSC. You must find original CSC and download ROM with original CSC. Don't matter if phone is locked in an network, matter only the CSC.

Right. Thank you. Any idea how I will find out what my original CSC was?
Adrian

Now phone it is working? You can install from google play, samsung phone info, or you can connect with PC and view what CSC you have from Kies. Last option it is to restore last firmware from Kies.

Excellent. Thank you. Yes, the phone is working and after installing the phone info, I can see the CSC is from Poland. So now I know that the stock firmware was wrong (was getting the UK version). Trying to get the poland stock firmware from Sammobile, but getting "bad gateway" errors. Any other reliable place to source these images?
Adrian

Just copy name of right firmare from sammobile and search on google. I think it is another site, something like this: http://samsung-updates.com/

I tried this with both Odin 3.09 and 3.04. Is there a problem going directly to Lollipop from 4.4.2? Should I try the 4.4.2 firmware first?
Anything else that I can try?

I tried with the Kit Kat version this time and received the following error (which looks to be similar to the other):

try to flash the best compatible software
and use the latst odin

I am also not able to connect the phone to Kies - The device driver never installs correctly. I have tried installing Kies again after fully removing it, as well as installing the separate device driver "SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.25.0-retail"
Perhaps the two have something in common?

YO BRO
SERIOUSLY
ARE U SURE YOU BOUGHT G900F
YOUR PRODUT CODE SAYS ITS A G900A
SERIOUSLY WHAT IS YOUR PHONE MODEL
YOU HAVE STARTED THE THREAD TELLING THAT YOU HAVE A G900F

Install phone info app from playstore and see what is your real phone model, pda and csc
i think your going to install the wrong model
thats why i think odin is not doing the process
common bro

If you have a G900F
your product code have to be like this

i also think that you have a G900A
um not sure
in my device also it says product code :SM-G900FZKASIN
and it is a G900F

In settings/about device:
Model Number: SM-G900F
Build Number: S5G900FXXU1ANJ1
Baseband Version: G900AUCU2AND3
Behind the Battery it states: Model SM-G900F.
So I think its a 900F.
On Sammobile, the only firmware available for a 900a is from ATT?? Downloading this firmware to see if it will flash.
Adrian

Your product code is the problem
hmmmm it a lil confusing, post this on sammobile forums or wait for a recognise contributer to reply
Your previous user might have flashed a custom modem and bootloader I THINK
But i dont know why the later version of odin not doing it for you
This is not a problem with your firmware
you can flash any CSC firmwares from odin
its not a big deal
try to install samsung drivers properly(samsung kies may work too) and try again
---------- Post added at 02:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:09 PM ----------
use this app from samsung bro
it'll do the process nicely

Do you know if you're on mdl firmware if you are it'll work. If you were on mf5 it won't work, but it also won't hurt anything. The file is a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file from it. That's the file you'll use in Odin.

Have you taken any ota updates? Where you flashing any custom roms and have a custom recovery on your phone? As I said, mdl won't hurt it just won't work. I'd try that first as mf5 has additional security which makes it more difficult to flash custom roms.
yeah i flashed a few custom roms, i tried changing the build.prop earlier this AM to help fix the no sim notificiation then it wouldnt allow me to make calls saying i must first dial the 10 digit number etc...so i edited build.prop and ****ed up my calling. so now i gotta start from stock, re flash and everything else

When you get it back up and running make a nandroid backup in your custom recovery. That way if you f up you can easily restore it and not go back thru flashing back to stock.

[Q] SM-N9005 failing on ODIN Flash - Trying restore stock firmware

i have tried all those things. i'm able to flash with the leaked Polish 4.4.2 firmware.. and have downloaded the firmware a few times, from SamMobile and other mirrors. The leaked Polish firmware is the only way i can get into the phone, otherwise it displays emergency firmware recovery messages, but isn't detected in Kies...
I'm really confused actually lol
try a different odin maybe sometimes that seems to help the problem. maybe even reboot the laptop

I have a feeling your partitioning scheme is indeed different - what specific model was the N9005 originally? You might need to first install the oldest 4.4.2 you find for that original model.

hmm it was an Australian model, i thought it would be an issue with partitioning so i tried to use the pit file from the polish firmware and flash the xsa firmware but that also failed..
so the oldest 4.4.2 you think? I'll give that a go

>>>>>>>>>>>>>First of all thank you very much to the OP!! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
I got the same error and solved it.
I think the reason was that I tried flashing a 502 stock when I had already flashed the 511 bootloader and modem. In my case I have a Brazilian SM-G920I GS6 and the 511 stock rom is/was not readily available for it. So I tried downloading the latest available official stock version (502) and it resulted in the error you mentioned.
So I dowloaded the India 511 version (region INU) for 920I and it finally worked.
I used samfirm to download it (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647).
You need to input the exact model name (for me it was literally SM-G920I) and the region code for your phone. Then download it, DON'T close samfirm software, then click on Decrypt and you will finally have a ZIP from which you can extract the stock rom. And to find out your region code, you can go to www.sammobile.com and click on Firmware in the main menu at the top. Then you enter the model number and after that you will get to a screen with a dropdown menu for all available regions and their codes (for instance, region codes for Brazil are ZTO, ZTA..).
You can also download the stock roms from sammobile diretcly but it is too slow (takes a day or so).
Good luck!

Ok, now I'm stuck.
I've downloaded the same version as you (INU 5.1.1 for G920I) and flashed. Used for some days and now I have to take my SGS6 to service to check if they can give me a new one because I´m having some trouble with the radio of my network (the problm was before flashing any ROM). Any way, I've tried to flash stock 5.0.2 and Odin still giving the same error. In my case I tried many of 5.0.2 stocks ROMs for the G920I and none of them worked, even the stock from Claro (my carrier) doesn't work.
This is the log in Odin, after reflashing INU 5.1.1, wiping and apply download mode.

It's not possible to downgrade to 5.0.1 if your bootloader is on 5.1.1.
Downloading now. So like all the other Odin roms it passed but does it pass in download mode on the phone that then blocks the download ?
hello!
This works on any 5.1.1?
i mean can i download any 5.1.1. for 920F and it will be fixed or i have to use exactly the rom that is posted on OP?

Hey, once I am facing the "system rev. check fail device: 2 binary 1 error", I don't think I can power off the phone completely. I can just reboot the phone into the download mode. If I try to reboot into recovery it will say "recovery is not seandroid enforcing"...
How do I power off the phone completely or how do I reboot into recovery?

When does Odin says Fail? I installed Poland (T-Mobile) TPL without problems. Maybe it's problem with the file you downloaded, try download again. You can download it faster through SamFirm tool.
Or follow this solution > http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/solved-stuck-download-mode-failed-odin-t3104736

You can turn off by going to Settings » Lock screen and security » Find My Mobile » and turn off the reactivation lock.
Also, If your firmware version is higher than the one you are trying to flash it may not let you flash it. This happened to me when trying to change region on my SM-G920I.

First of all.... what did you try to do ? Did you want to bring your phone back to the original firmware? If so, you've probably flashed the wrong firmware... It is not so clear what you're talking about....
Its failing at system image suggest wrong firmware.

Thanks for your response
Actually, my phone's WiFi and Bluetooth aren't working properly, so I have tried to flash the firmware to resolve this issue and I'm not sure with the current version of my phone's firmware, but I know that I have updated my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3) with it's latest official update by Samsung which is Lollipop but not sure with the version 5.0 or 5.1.1
I have downloaded the Firmware of 5.0 from a website and trying to flash my phone with it and then the rest of all I've mentioned in my post.
And now as you suggested... how do I know that which firmware is the right for my phone.

I know that and I have already downloaded the same, but I want to know that downloading any version of firmware will help or I need any specific version to perform the flash. Because right now I have the 5.0 version of Firmware and it makes the error which I've already mentioned.
Thanks for your time dear....
You should flash the firmware for your phone .
That is the later version of the original firmware from the supplying network .
Its 16 gb not 32 gb version .
You are from South Americas ??
