"33. Battery-Add Battery charging ready reminder feature: User could set battery level under charging to receive the reminder."
seems they have given up on fixing the issue therefore just adding an alarm to recharge the battery... not good!

I saw the update but they deleted it on their download support page for now.

I am optimistic about the development department of Zenfone, atleast they are working deep enough about their flagship. The battery drainage is an issue for almost every Android L(5.0) user. I hope this issue will be fixed after we get update for 5.1.1 .
Asus is also expending their QA inspection team this will help for the end user to have stable releases afterwards.
Thumbs up Asus for the efforts.

I just received my phone this morning. it's a CN model. I charged it to 100%. Played a bit with it at work when I had the chance. I've spent the rest of the evening setting it up. The latest update is sitting waiting for download but I won't take it until tomorrow. I want to see how it goes overnight.
Even given the short time I've had it I'm pretty sure the battery stats are simply misreported and the poor battery life that some people are experiencing are down to individual setups or faulty devices. I've done nothing yet to conserve battery other than turning off the stupid ASUS battery saver, deleting some Chinese bloat and setting Wi-Fi to switch off when screen is off. From what I can see battery is comparable to my G2 which I was very happy with. As you can see from the screen shots it's pretty good.

so does this mean your device is running on CN firmware? so maybe the biggest culprit for battery drain in WW is google playstore and other gapps, because CN firmware didnt preinstalled with gapps..

Trust me. The battery life is aweful and is not just down to user error. I've used many, many android devices set up using similar parameters. Wether android 5.0 is to blame or something else, it is not my user error causing my excessive battery drain.

Um, what issue are you talking about and why are you jumping to conclusions? Don't jump to conclusions. You literally have no idea what ASUS' intent is and why would you complain when our phone has received an update every 2wks so far?

Um, even with Android OS battery usage at 21% and screen at 12%, according to batt stats screen, I still managed around 5.25hrs SoT.... With 32% battery left.
Granted this is just from last night to this morning and is mainly just Web browsing and playing some music (was up late couldn't sleep!). WiFi/Bluetooth/GPS/autosync on.I've frozen/disabled most pre-installed apps and services.

Glad to see updates with Google Voice, I've had some issues with outgoing calls not using voice.

I am not jumping to conclusions... Merely stating the obvious statement made by Asus... Secondly.. I believe in Asus and their commitment to this device .. But building up another wakelock is not the way to go IMO..

Yes, that's why I'm running with CN for a while. I don't have to have google apps as system apps. Once I have a setup I'm happy with I'll back up and test it for a while with them moved to system to see if there is any difference. I'll then switch to WW and compare that. (I'll also pick up my google drive offer at that stage.)
It has lost about 3% overnight so it's heading for about 6 - 7 hours SOT. I'm guessing that that will drop to about 5 hours in normal use given other people's reports.
I've already ruled out the android OS in battery stats as causing any real drain. I've encountered this before with a previous device. All the manufacturer did was adjust the way battery stats was reported. There was no underlying bug to fix.
I'm taking things slowly and methodically with setup so if I do run into any real battery issues I should be able to easily identify the culprit(s).
I'll take the OTA some time in the next day or so and see how it compares. I'll feed back in this thread but I guess the WW update will be out by then.

[Battery Stats] JI6 Stock VS. Bionix Fusion 1.0 (Updated 10/29)

Background
I wanted to figure out a test I could conduct while keeping variables minimal. I figure a standby battery drain test would be as consistent as I could get by not using the phone or turning it on once during the test. Any other test would be too subjective depending on use.
Constants
In attempt to keep the different tests constant, I powered off the device, rebooted, removed all syncs, updates, emails etc. I made sure I charged the phone to 100% and left it on for 30 minutes after the 100% was charged to get the maximum amount possible. Removed usb cord, turned off screen, did not touch for approximately 10 hours.
Pre JI6 Results
I'm not sure if I should even have this here since I didn't do an official test for pre-JI6. Pre-JI6 update my standby battery drain was moderate. From memory it was approximately 1%-1.5% drain per hour while in standby. I used stock for about 3 months.
Post JI6 OTA Standby Results
Time on 10 hours 20 minutes
Battery life left 60%
Battery used 40%
Cell Standby - 40%
Phone Idle - 30%
Android System 20%
Calls (1 missed call) 5%
Display 3%
Maps 2% (Why does maps show up?)
Post Bionix Fusion 1.0 w/ JI2 Modem Results
Time on 10 hours 33 minutes
Battery life left 97%
Battery used 3%

After flashing the default rom, I removed all applications I did not want, I removed all 3 DRM instances via Titanium Backup, and removed Media Hub. Also removed these via root explorer:
drmUa.apk
drmprovider.apk
SisoDrmProvider.apk
Final Results
1%-1.5% - Pre JI6 Standby Drain
4%+ - Post JI6 OTA Standby Drain
.3% - Post Bionix Fusion 1.0 Standby Drain
Conclusion
Out of the 3, Bionix Fusion 1.0 w/ JI2 Modem is by far the best for standby drain times. According to these small series of tests I can get 330+ hours in standby and possibly more under optimal conditions.
Post Conclusion
I am now passed my third day on a single charge. Granted I am not using the phone heavily, I am using it on a daily basis. I still have a 60%+ charge after 3 days of light use.
Media Hub + DRM
Looking at everyone's comments and tests it looks like the major culprit behind battery drain is Media Hub + DRM. Regardless of using a Stock ROM or a custom ROM people are universally reporting significant gains by removing all traces of Media Hub + DRM related instances.
Kubernetes said:
... As far as I can tell, all it affects is MediaHub. The DRM services constantly ping the CPU checking to see if you're stealing content, which kills your battery life.

Any lag issues? Does it lag while typing a message? Does the gps work any better? Does the Map work any better. Does voice recognition work any better as mine sucks. My G1 worked better at all of these then this phone does.
I really hate the stock phone and I am about to either install a rom or switch to a different phone. Maybe a Mytouch HD.

You said you removed all instances of DRM with Titanium.. I show 3 in mine, but I'm afraid to remove them lol.
I have:
Download Manager 2.1-Update 1
DRM Protected Content Package 2.1-Update 1
DRM Protected Content Package 2.1-Update 1
DRMContentLauncher 1.0
those are in my Titanium...
I've noticed that even with MH gone, after a reboot I kill oaDRM and DM Services, I get pretty good battery life..
I deleted those exact 3 a few days ago. Have not noticed any side effects yet other than significantly better battery life. But as always, delete at your own risk.

Regardless of which ROM I was using I never had lag on input. Possibly a rouge app you have running?
GPS and Map work significantly better with Bionix Fusion. It did not work well with JI6 OTA. 1 minute lock times down to 3 seconds.
Definitely give Bionix Fusion a shot before jumping ship. My phone is performing a lot better than stock. I've been using stock for a little over 3 months.

Not sure why you froze the download manager, nowhere did I mention messing with that one. Fortunately you didn't delete it
Only the 3 DRM's + Media Hub should be removed.
But at least we have a confirmation now to definitely not mess with the download manager.
Has anyone else who's disabled these DRM instances with Titanium become incapable of downloading anything via the market? I kind of expected I might, so I tried to back them up with Titanium, but unfortunately it's not letting me restore them (they're crossed out at the bottom; the only button that highlights is "delete", which I tried on one of them out of curiosity, and sure enough it deleted the backup. Oops.)
Before I go through the pain of reflashing the ROM [bionix fusion 1.1] I'd like to know if anyone else has this problem, and more importantly whether anybody has the .apk files for each of those four DRM instances (couldn't hurt trying) or other suggestions (delete more stuff? )
Thanks!
Disregard...
If you guys are having issues doing this with Titanium, there's also a neat little app called SDX System App remover. All it does is allow you to backup/delete/restore system apps. The DRM files are really easy to identify with this app.

Looks like the problem was that I accidentally deleted DownloadProvider.apk . If you do that the market FCs when you try to download. Easy fix by simply pushing the apk to the /system/apps folder (I figure out after way too much time trying to get the install command to work, in ADB, realizing my cmd.exe exe has to be in the tools folder for that (it doesn't need to for any other ADB command I tried - but otherwise it was searching the wrong directories for the apk) getting it to attempt to install right before throwing an error for an unsigned apk, which was another little joust altogether).
So if your market dies, get yourself DownloadProvider.apk from your ROM's .zip and push it to /system/apps . Simple solution

Many people in the bionix thread suggested that removing these has helped their stats so i blindly followed with great results. Not one person knows what exactly they do. One person is looking into it and researching but no official response from what ive read.

Corrupt media database
Explanation: thumbnails and some database's could get corrupted making the media scanner running berserk, resulting in battery drain.
Fix: Using SGS Tools, Press [Apply script] select [clean_thumb_db.txt] and execute the script, this will delete the files that might get corrupted and reboot the phone so the database files and thumbnails get recreated.
WIFI Bug
Explanation: This is a mix of bugs and wrong settings, hardcore found some leftover debug code in the driver, tc80tc80 tested different routers seeing this effected the WIFI too, other users reported that the distance to the router effects battery drain as well. On top of this there are some settings that makes the WIFI running all the time that are not easily found.
Fix #1: Check your settings,[Wireless and network] select [Wi-Fi settings] uncheck [Network notification] press the menu key and select [Advanced] in [Wi-Fi sleep policy] select [When screen turns off]
Fix #2: See if you could try your phone with another router and compare to your home router, also check your signal that you have good coverage on the WIFI.
Fix #3: Use an updated Kernel, either hardcore's or trasig's and apply the wifi-fix (wifi-driver from JPA): View attachment update-wifi-dxjpa.zip
SGS Email 2.2.1
Explanation: The new email client has a bug making it drain the battery a lot if you set it to update every x minutes or manual update instead of push (exchange accounts)
Fix #1: Setup your account to push both on peak and off-peak, if you use imap or pop you can't do anything.
Fix #2: Use another email application, K9 or Improved Email have been reported to work much better. If you remove Samsung email you might need a fix if you have applications using your camera available here:View attachment CameraappsNoEmail.zip
Battery not "calibrated" - we don't have real facts on this one yet, so consider this our best guess
Explanation: It is said that the battery looses track of it's capacity (or rather the phone does) so it needs calibration.
Fix #1: Always flash new ROM:s with full battery.
Fix #2: Follow the guide TechnicR have on recal:
· Turn phone off and charge till full
· Start recovery and wipe battery stats
· Reboot and start the phone
· Use it heavily until it turns of by itself
· Connect charger and turn on the phone and wait until fully charged
Hardcore 256Hz vs. 500 Hz
Explanation: this is the system tick in the Linux system, number of interrupts per second for timesharing, gives a smoother appearance
Fix: None needed, the difference is not noticeable in battery drain.
Battery level drop to 95-98% when disconnecting charger
Explanation: We are used to that the battery is 100% chraged when we disconnect the charger, but with 2.2.1 we gat anything from 95-98%.
Fix: Not needed, this is a change in the charging cycle to prolong the life of the battery, but please take this in consideration of reporting battery drain, start counting from the actual value and not from 100%

Gathering the suspects
Let’s get rid of the “I think” “If you only do” and “I’ve heard that” and start arresting the suspects, line them up, and execute them (oops, did I say that out loud?), and put them in quarantine until further notice.
To keep this thread cleaner, we’ll only focus on 2.2.1 mainly XXJPU/X/Y and not bother with to old 2.2 ROMS
Let's end the guesswork and start a scientific approach on this, it’s ok to suspect something, but you must have some evidence.
We need repeatability on the problems, so if you did something that started to drain your battery, describe this in as much detail as possible so someone else can verify your findings.
I have gathered some suspects but now I need your help in Collecting Scientific Information (CSI) to round up more suspects or eliminating them so we might find the truth about the drainage problem.

To find out if suspect #3 has visited your phone (frequent flashers should suspect this) then this might help:
In SGSTools ther is a script to do that procedure of removing thumbnails and also delete two databases so they get rebuilt after reboot. In SGSTool (search market, need root) press Apply script then select clean_thumb_db.txt

I have tested mine overnight (JPX) and lost 10% in around 8 hrs. 2.2.1 email client set to sync every hour on two accounts. I have now turned it off and will update once tested again.
Using built in monitor and SGSInfo, I've found no anomalies in battery usage, but it is higher than previous firmwares.
Good idea for a thread!
Ah, this is the perfect thread for me. I'm in the midst of trying to recalibrate my battery. I can say though, that with wifi and 3g off, I get next to no drain. (A bit annoying having to have them off though). I do however get drain with 3g on. I currently have gmail sync on and I've updated with the AOSP email now with push sync for exchange to see if it helps.
OK, I'll share my current status.
I've been using XWJPA with JPM modem for more than a month and was very satisfied with battery life.
Recently I upgraded to Doc's rom v5.1 (XXJPX based) and that introduced a battery drain problem.
When WiFi is connected, the phone fails to sleep properly and is running more than 50% of the time when idle, which results in huge loss of power (more than 10% per hour on several ocasions).
I've since upgraded to Doc's v6, v6.1, v6.2 as well as stock XXJPY, kernels Voodoo 5.0.3, Hardcore's K12, and stock, modems JPM, JPP, JPY = problem persists. All testing done on clean flashed roms with no additional software installed.
Another (well known) issue i'm having since JM1 is "Time without signal: 50%" which is easily solved by switching Airplane Mode On and Off, but it's annoying nonetheless, especially if you forget to do it upon restart only to find your battery is flat 5 hours later.
Darkyy has fixed this wifi battery drain issue and a load of other stuff in his latest ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091
Excellent ROM, pure speed and looks tasty
check wifi sleep policy too
I experienced quite a ridiculous amount of drain on the stock + voodoo kernel bundled with Doc's JPY 6.1 ROM as well as on SpeedMod k11c. I literally saw my battery dwindle down as I was using it normally yesterday.
No games, no music or video...just exchanging a few text messages and setting up my apps and such again after a fresh flash. Wifi, 3g, Bluetooth, Auto-Rotate, GPS were all off. Brightness set to the lowest possible. Still lost as much as 10-15% in an hour and let's say within that one hour the screen was on for half the time (I was out of the house so I didn't time it or anything)...
Have not had good battery life since Doc's JP8 ROM sadly and that was back in the days of 2.2...

I've read through the latter posts on there and the problem still persists for a lot of people. Wifi battery drain issue still doesn't seem resolved in his latest ROM according to recent posts.
From my side, i have noticed a quite a big difference in battery drain when switching from voodoo to speedmod's kernel. (speedmod's being much better in terms of drain in my case), but having said this, I never came any close to JPO in terms of battery drain yet. That was much better for me.
I installed the latest voodoo kernel last night, and noticed that in my Battery info history, the infamous "0" process did not appear at all in network usage, and battery drain was not that bad (still nowehere close to JPO) but not bad either. Basically I removed the phone from the charger at 4AM this morning (after trying the suggested "trick" of fully draining the phone and charging while the phone was off, have no idea if this makes any difference at all ... but am out of ideas at this stage) and am at 66% battery at 3:00 PM. I would say on less than normal usage today, since I did not use it much, but I have seen worse.
I hav now just flashed the latest speedmod kernel, based on JPX (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756) K12 and will revert back.
I have also tried all the wipe battery stats suggested (with charger, without charger, at 100%, at 1% and so on, none ever helped)
Also the script to clear the thumbnails and the possibly corrupted databases ... still no joy

Ok, thanks for the insight, but please don't use this thread as an adverising space.
So for some facts:
"this wifi battery drain issue" guess you refer to the previous poster, but I would really like to know a little mor details about the problem, and how has Darkyy fixed this?
Refering to the 1 post in a thread is not the kind of scientific facts that will help finding the true causes so could you be a little more specific?

It's a "fix" that came with JPY, not actually one done by darky..and it still isn't fixed according to recent posts by those who've recently updated to his JPY (v7) ROM.
Interesting thread! I went from 2.2 JP8 to 2.2.1 JPU and found that my battery drain decreased, it went from 2 days between charges to (almost) 3 days. I then flashed JPX and then JPY and found the battery drain terrible with both, I was lucky to get a day and a half before recharging. I've just flashed back to JPU and then flashed the BUJP5 modem (which is the correct stock one for my phone / country). I'm waiting to see what happens to the battery life now... I'll post results as soon as I get a feel for whether it's any better / worse.

Hi!
Yes I know that, I only want the posters to start thinking a few steps ahead, I don't really care for this "If you only install xxxx:s ROM, all problems are fixed", it's not the kind of posts any of us wish to see here.
Both you and I know for a fact that there are no quick fixes
i have no problems on anyfirmware. my phone works like a 7 days or more on each firmware all i use is a stock rom and a app killer i kill all apps everytime i put it into standy. working great for me so far.

Hm I left my phone untouched for an hour and a half and checked battery history and I'm down to 98%. Apparently my wifi doesn't sleep even if I already set the wifi sleep policy to "Never when plugged" :|

Stock Android 4.3 'Android OS' permanent wakelock

Looking at some XDA and Reddit posts, small set of users (my Nexus 4 including, unfortunately) experiencing some sort of bug with stock not rooted Android 4.3 after OTA on all range of Nexus devices.
The bug is Android OS holding device awake all the time and not letting it into deep sleep. It looks like it has not huge impact on battery life, but still it is abnormal. Rebooting devices, for me, curing this, but only for a day or two, after a few days wakelock makes its come back.
Unfortunately WakeLock Detector does not show who is guilty, looks like it is in the kernel. I just have bought BetterBatteryStats, and will look at its data tomorrow. What WLD does show is that my Nexus 4 had 0:00 of deep sleep today:

Here is what Android's battary stats looks like:
And here is what is should look like and does look like on my 2012 Nexus 7, that is unaffected by this. And stats looks the same for a few days after I reboot my Nexus 4, before wakelock occurs again:
I have to assume that it has nothing to do with connectivity, because same thing happens even if I disable wifi and mobile data entirely.
Here is a list of topics about the same issue I could found, but they only have questions, not answers.

Unfortunately, I also do not have any answers (yet). The purpose of this post is gather all the info I've found in one place, and maybe rise the awareness about this.
Update:
Ok. I had BetterBatteryStats on my phone for 30 minutes, and this whole 30 minutes PowerManagerService held wakelock itself. So, it safe to assume that it is an offender.
Hi, I saw your reply on this thread.
I read some speculation somewhere that the wakelocks might be caused by the device continually trying to poll for location, and apparently this behaviour could be corrected by the latest version of Google Play Services v3.2.25. I don't see the wakelocks now after upgrading to it earlier today, however this could also be because I rebooted my phone... Nevertheless I'm still not getting great screen-on time, just about 3.5 hours compared to other people's 5+ hours.
What's your version of the app? If you don't have 3.2.25 you can either download it directly (Android Police has put up a copy of the apk, but it might not be a Nexus 4-specific one) or download a more recent version of Play Store and wait for it to update Google Play Services automatically.
I'll report back here if I notice any more changes in my phone.

Location related wakelock are reflected in Android System and Google Services in the Android's battery stats, and as NLP (and some others) in the BetterBatteryStats. They account for about 1 hour of awake in a day. And they actually DO something.
This wakelock unfortunately does not show in Partial Wakelocks statistics in BetterBatteryStats, so I think it occurs somewhere deep in kernel.
If you use Google Now, or some other location based apps like Aviate, 3.5 hours of screen time is great. I do not turn off Wi-Fi, even when it is not available, use Google Now (without location history). 3 hours of screen on is what I expecting as a best case scenario.
Unfortunately, at days then 'Android OS' wakelock happens it nowhere near 3 hours.
So you're saying that location polling only affects "Android System" and "Google Services" wakelocks. Ok, I didn't know that.
But I did note that my "Android OS" wakelocks have now stopped. Although I cannot say whether the update to Google Play Services / Google Play Store had anything to do with it, or whether it was simply because I rebooted my phone. Do you know for sure that Play Services has no effect in this respect?
And yes, I do use Google Now and also Field Trip.
In any case, I'm also noticing that my battery drains at a much faster rate (as compared to 4.2.2) when I have my phone turned on.

It'll help with Google Services drain, I think. Anyway Google Play Services just updated for me (with Android Device Manager), hope it'll fix Android OS drain too. Hope is not high, though )
I've recently have this issue as well with "Android OS". Luckily I can still make it through the day easily but annoyed this kind of stuff still happens. I got the latest Google Play Services yesterday and still have this issue today after a full charge. Will reboot and see what happens I guess.

It looks relevant indeed. Although, I would not call the drain "rapid". I'm now looking close to my device statistics and try to pinpoint exact moment this lock occurs to find the cause.
If it is indeed caused by concurrent condition in PowerManagerService there is not much to do, but flash another, patched, ROM. But I eager to stay on stock.
Also seeing this with my Nexus 4. Reboot doesn't do much at all for me.
I was having the same problem with Android OS keeping my nexus 4 awake. It turns out the problem was using a wireless charger. If I wirelessly charged overnight my phone would never go into deep sleep when I took it off the charger. I went back to using the usb charger and the problem has gone away. I don't know if you are wirelessly charging but it did the trick for me.

It's documented problem about wireless charger https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/mobile/c4HRzEUNmFk/geRlvQRtSPoJ
Looks like it was there since 4.2.2 and nobody cared to patch this in 4.3.
Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with my case. I do not own a wireless charger and the name of the wake lock is different. When it is related to charger it is PowerManagerService.WirelessChargerDetector keeps device from sleep. In my case it is less specific PowerManagerService.Wakelocks
I have this issue i think maybe going back to 4.2.2

I have been having the same issue . I finally dealt with it last night after flashing multiple ROMs and kernels. I went back to OTA 4.3/rooted/twrp and flashed from the updated .84 modem back to the previous .48 modem. Went back to only losing ~4% overnight. The problem appears to be the qualcomm modem driver. Additionally, I am mostly seeing this problem from people outside the US.

What I also tried, that didn't work at all, was stopping all running services during an Android OS wakelock. Even with all the services stopped and the RAM cleared, the wakelock didn't stop at all. So, it means the drain comes directly from the OS/drivers/etc, not any running app. In fact, after 2 factory resets, 1 reflash and keeping my phone completely stock for days, the Android OS wakelock kept occurring. Even if you don't sign-in into your Google account, the wakelock will still be there eventually draining all your battery.
I will have to give the old modem a shot.
So, somewhere here, on XDA, I read suggestion to clear cache (Settings -> Storage -> Tap on 'Cache' and then 'Yes') and then reboot.
I did this on Friday and to date wakelock did not return. I do not know did this really help. May be it was just a coincidence, or maybe this nasty wakelock will return, but this procedure is easy and harmless, so maybe it is worth to give it a shot.
Same Problem
I just got my nexus 4 a week ago and I have been having this problem ever since I got it. It seems to be an issue for me no matter what rom/kernel/radio I flash. I've also tried complete factory image flashes of 4.2.2 and 4.3 with radio and it has no effect on this issue. I am very discouraged because I love this phone other than that problem.

Nothing else on the forums worked for me so as a last chance, i tried this solution and it worked. Well, sort of. I did this last friday and afterwards android OS battery usage dropped from around 25% to 8%. Also in Wakelock Detector, i saw that my CPU was no longer awake all the time. But unfortunately, as of this morning, problem reappeared. I tried to erase cache again but it didn't work.
Is this happened to you as well?

*Guide* : Better battery life on htc one [Updated]

Just want to add on here for more battery saving tips
Guys I may have found an easy way to curb Google play services or any other spyware app to stop them from doing things like Access location or mobile networks which may further wreck yr battery life There are 2 guides here , Guide 1 (maybe redundant) and guide 2[updated] . if u think one of these guides works better than the other in yr bbs or gsam results, u want to use just only or a combination of both
App: Guide 1(maybe redundant)
LBE security master ( english translation is xposed module, so install that first)
Install and open the app
Go to permissions , Google play services all permissions , location and choose block or prompt
U can do this for WiFi and 3g too
I can also set all apps to prompt this way u know which apps want to access what when not opened . And deny them when they are running in the background . Also u will know if Some apps will access eg. Location when opened .. as o fnow i have made all apps to prompt mode so i can identify which app is running wild,. So far none
this part here may significantly save battery
first get this app : disable service
choose google play services and untick
analystics service
checkin service
NLPlocationreceiverservice
google location service
dispatching service
2) Then using app system tuner
go to google play services - receivers
checkin.checinservices$reciever
checkin.checkinservices$triggerreciever
checkin.checkinservices$tSecretCodeReceiver
checkin.eventlogservices$receiver
update.SystemUpdateService$SecretCodeReceiver
update.SystemUpdateService$Receiver
loginservice.migrateToAccountmanagerBroadcastRecei ver
*After this u wil only see GCM service runing in settings-apps -running
yr apps should work fine using battery saving location type
3) Disable Google syncing , u tick individual items in settings - accounts and sync - yr Google account
4) get greenify paid version
Tick wakeup timer colescaling in experimental features
Update:Guide 2 . this guide here may do all a of the above in a better way
1) install paid version Greenify and latest xposed
2) go to experimental setings and tick "reveal hidden sync"
3) go to phone settings , autosync, clik on yr google account and u will see new options with a *.Now can choose watever u want to be disabled
4) Also u can do the same for Facebook app or any other app with * entries . . U don't need Facebook acting independently . BlinkFeed will update for u the feeds
5) use Disable Service app from the Play store to disable:
Google Play Services
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.Repo rtingSyncService
(ReportingSyncService)
Google Services Framework
com.google.android.gsf.subscribedfeeds.SubscribedF eedsSyncAdapterService
(SubscribedFeedsSyncAdapterService)
here is the screenshot in phone settings for google and facebook example

For what's app I don't think so .
Lbe security English translation is an xposed module . Look for it in the exposed download section
battery goes down while sleeping

Thanks!I implemented everything u said above and also use greenify for most of my apps..But when i go to sleep for 8 hours after switching off data and wifi my battery goes from 100% to 85%. .that isnt normal right?battey stats show that my phone has been in deep sleep for 98% and awake only for 2%. .yet my battery seems to drain at a minimum constant 1.9% per hour. .any advice? Thanks again! Also find a screenshot for reference.

well i think something else is drainign yr vbattery u need to check for kernel wakelocks and apps which have in built in ads constantly pulling data
anyway LBE security has option to block all ads in apps. look for that section and do that
and also in LBE security under 'location: main section put all apps to prompt and see which one is doing something when u never opened it

ok thanks!I shall do all that. .but after having done everything else my battery life should have improved atleast a little right. .that too being in deep sleep for 98%. .i checked the partial wakelocks and they dont seem to be many. .anyways if you want any other battery stats from my phone that can help you better analyze the issue then i can do that also. .thanks again!

i tested only google maps and it works , not sure about google + as i dont use it
re-enable the google location manager service if something does not work. I think this service controls the settings- location where u choose the 3 different gps options
edited my first post to reflect this

just realised that yours could be a batery calibration problem ( if on custom kernel )
what rom are u using and the version ? all i know is that some roms/ kernels have a battery bug reporting problem or they have not adjusted to the battery cycle. try to recalibrate the battery . u dnt have to full charge it and drain to zero, just drain to zero a few times around 3x . see how that goes .

Oh yeah i had the same doubt. .im running paranoid android 4.6 beta and stock kernel. .im doing the calibration now.thanks!Il do that and let you know
Well my battery drains 1.2% per hour when idle.. I'm running Google edition with elemental kernel.. Downclocked to 1.5 GHz and undervolted a little too.. WiFi is always on!
Btw the best I can achieve is 0.8% idle but that's on 1.2 GHz and it's not worth it, things feel kind of slow!
I haven't tested the suggested tweaks, maybe sometime.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
I will suggest the synapses kernel
Better battery life especially during standby or when screen is off
Hi Lewonsky!
Since you seem to know a lot about achieving a better battery life i thought i would take your help if you dont mind.i decided to try out the HTC extreme power saver mode last night since its supposed to disable all syncing of background data and save a lot of battery. And i'm not sure where the problem lies here but it seems to be even more worse with the extreme power saver mode turned on.It's lost 17% during the 8.5 hours i was asleep and for the entire time it was on extreme power saver mode only. .Ive even attached a screenshot below where it indicates that it was in deep sleep for 99% of that time. .taking this into consideration is it really supposed to lose so much battery overnight on extreme power saver mode?any help would be really appreciated thanks!Im on viperone 7.0.1 and stock kernel.I also tried draining my battery to 0% a couple of times as you advised me to calibrate battery. .If you have any other advice or suggestions on how to get a better battery life especially during standby or when screen is off it would be great. .i already am planning to follow that you have mentioned in a couple of threads of yours regarding this. .Thanks again for all the help!

I have noticed the extreme power saver is buggy in 4.4.3 Rom . At times it didn't turn off the data . So I have reverted to 4.4.2 5.11.661.8 Rom . This is the only version according to me in which extreme power saver node works correctly .
Try reflashing the firmware

sometiems rom and firmware xcombination may cause problems but very rarely unless there is a bug with the firmware released by HTC
the battery i think uneed to input some codes in the dialer it will shhow u battery health .
anyway not sure how reliable is that.
try to change roms and see if the battery still behaves that way.

I don't know. But try to use the firmware Intended for yr device like 6.13.707.1 . I just flashed it. Avoid the European firmware,, in my opinion it doesn't work well on Asian devices and causes a bit of battery drain.

Putting the 2-day battery life claim to the test

I'm usually a fairly heavy user, but this week I haven't been quite as hard on the Z5C as I normally am, and I saw it as a chance to test the 2-day battery claims.
Everything was left turned on as per usual - Wifi, Bluetooth, LTE and the like were left on for the most part. Screen was on auto-brightness, all the usual stuff. I didn't try to 'milk' it for more. I didn't use any of the battery life extending modes.
52 hours and 26 minutes later, with 4 hours and 26 minutes of screen-on time, I was at 2%. I'd definitely call that a pass.

that's amazing.. im experiencing 9 hours of battery life with 10 mins screen on time, trying to figure out how to fix wake lock with sonys tasks app and some calendar storage app but seem to be completely unsuccessfull in this... you think if i do a factory reset of the device that'll fix it?

Mine is changed out now because of faulty lens but I've used it for a few days and I got same usage as OP.
you might want to perform a full factory reset and if it doesn't solve your problem return it to Sony for warranty.
Also, do not close the recent apps constantly. Let them run in background will improve the way lollipop (and soon marshmallow) runs.

thanks i've just done a factory reset and unfortunately still same two processes are holding up hundreds of wakelocks on my devices not sure how to further troubleshoot / fix this..
processes are :
com.android.providers.calendar
com.sonymobile.tasks
does anyone know what those processes do and how i can go about just removing them or replacing with something not buggy? will be leaving for an overseas trip in a weeks time (away for a whole month) and this new phone which i got especially for it (good camera and waterproof) will be completely useless to me if the battery keeps failing on me. love the phone so far but this battery issue is killing my transition experience
had full charge at 9am and now at 4pm already at 33% battery life

for testing purposes.. do you have a calendar app? can you disable it? or clear the cache from settings >apps...There is some rogue app that is constantly accessing storage.. I've had it happen on my old phone with custom ROM.. also do you have exchange/gmail sync try changing that
for battery problems you can use Wakelock Detector without root (following the guide in the google play page https://www.google.com/url?q=https:...A&sa=D&usg=AFQjCNFCL0Z8eiWrc0xTYvz2hQAgPd3xoA ) and, if you find system apps that can't be disabled manually, you can use Debloater (windows application) http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294 which can Hide ( pm hide command) the system apps. I don't know exactly what the command does but i hid three system packages and they disappeared from the running processes list: either they are completely hidden from the system or they are stopped and not running. For example, i hid the Software firmware upgrade app and its settings in Phone Info disappeared along with the Software upgrade notification in status bar.
My battery life was fine until I recently updated to latest fw version using Flashtool. I can't update the phone with PC Companion anymore. I'm a heavy user, I play games, watch videos, check social networks, listen to music, download apps etc. But before using flashtool battery can last me a day or so. I don't think it could last more than a day if I don't use it. At night, for example, sometimes I let the phone idle, even with stamina mode on, the phone drains 1% per hour. I don't think that's good. I hope with the marshmellow update battery can improve.

do you set up your phone after a factory reset?
U should try this: factory reset, not completely set up phone, only necessary apps like WhatsApp, Google account etc, maybe disable or remove the unneeded apps and then keep using the phone for 2 - 3 charge cycles. Then all should be good. If not, return the phone. If all is good by then, u know it's not fault of firmware or phone but fault of some app u installed.

Did u flash userdata.sin (factory reset)?
I really can't believe some people having this bad battery life.
It must be some bad app or something, I think..
The only way to test is full factory reset including wipe internal SD and then test the phone without fully setting everything up (installing apps etc)
I think I'll do a factory reset. But maybe when the marshmellow update comes, I don't want to have to set everything up again. Btw if I want to update phone flashing a new fw via flashtool is it recommended to do a factory reset before or after updating? Thanks

Mine has only maybe 30ish % left in the evening after one day with some youtube on the bus to and from work and random email and IM check ( 3-4 hours screen on total). Maybe it's youtube taking away all my battery...
I suspect it can only last until noon the next day maximum if I do my normal use and don't push it on power saving.... I don't know if I can call it a pass.. I guess it's somewhere between a pass and fail to me..
but, I do notice that it drained very fast in the first few days when I bought the device. After using it for a week it's a lot better. So if anyone is wondering why the battery life on your new device is really bad, try use it for a few days.
