Question for roms on the sm-t530nu - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello I'm new to the tab 4 t530nu and I recently updated / rooted and wanted to know what good stable roms are available for it?
What stable roms have you tried if you own this tablet?
Thanks!

I have the T530NU as well. First you'll want either TWRP or Philz (CWM touch) custom recovery. Then:
--Stock TW 5.0.2 Deodexed
--Cyanogenmod 12.1
--BlissPop 3.4 (based off CM 12.1)
--PAC Rom LP (hasn't been updated in a while)
I personally would recommend BlissPop 3.4, it's like CM 12.1 but with a lot more customization options, I really like it a lot. Unless you prefer touchwiz in which case go with that first one

? TWRP is working just fine, been using it myself this entire time. v2.8.6.0 is great
Download link since the main one is down. Tar file can be flashed with Odin, img file can be installed with Flashify (app on the play store)

[Q] Latest Twrp Req for PAC rom?

I have a tf300t tablet and was going to flash the PAC rom to my device. My question is, do I need the latest twrp (2.6.3) to do this? I have twrp 2.5.0 installed currently with cromi xenogenesis rom. Thanks in advance.
P.S. I am a real NOOB at this Android OS, but learning a little every day.
Figured it out with the help of kd8bny

I could not back up my pad with the twrp 2.6.3.0, so I reinstalled twrp 2.5.0.0 and made a backup (it worked), then installed twrp 2.6.3.0 and then installed the pacman rom. Thanks to, kd8bny for getting me through it. Btw, the rom is great.
I have a Galaxy S Advance and was going to flash the PAC rom to my device. My question is , do can Work with CWM 6 without TWRM?
Thanks

Yes it SHOULD work with everything recovery except for stock ones.

What happened when you tried?
I made a Backup of the Stock Rom on my TF201 before installing PAC, however after restoring it, it did not boot.
Changing back to PAC worked, however.
TWRP 2.6.3.3, I think.

[Q] Can i flash this?

Hello
So currently on my gm900v i have the Syndicate rom (5.0) and i was looking into getting CM12 on the phone. Now can i flash the roms from here http://www.teamub.co.uk/ if i downgrade my lollipop kernel and use safestrap, flash the rom then the gapps, then boot into download mode and then flash the lollipop kernel back on?
Or would this totally f*** up my phone?
Cheers

If you have the developer edition of the Verizon S5 bought directly from Samsung, then yes you can flash this and CM12. Since you mentioned safestrap I'm going to assume you have the retail version of the Verizon S5, so no you cannot flash this, CM12, or any AOSP based ROM.
hmmmm

To be honest i am not quite sure of it origins we got it in china and the software that came on it before i flashed the Syndicate rom just said g900 so i take it it had some custom Chinese firmware. (see attached) i have made a backup so i can easily flash to its "original" state
Alsi i am in the UK and running three mobile
Edit: also if i can not flash CM12 how can i get a lollipop rom with Nexus style i hate touchwiz i had been using S4 rom with nexus style lollipop and i like it so much better

I don't think this is possible yet. Our only hope for something other than TW is probably the Eclipse ROM but that's AOSP style.
Thanks

I assume you have installed and run the SuperSU app at least once, obviously do so if you have not. Your next step then should be to install TWRP custom recovery. You can use Odin to install the tar file or the flashify app to install the img file (I did the img file option). Then you have your choice of Cyanogenmod 12 (lollipop) flavors:
PAC Rom LP
Cyanogenmod 12.1
BlissPop
My personal preference is BlissPop, it's stable and got a lot of different options to personalize your tablet. All the SM-T530 roms are compatible with the SM-T530NU (which is the model I own). You should also check out viper4android if you listen to music or anything with your tablet, and the adaway app if you like adblockers. Oh almost forgot, definitely install Titanium Backup if you haven't already, incredibly useful both for preserving app data and debloating.
If you prefer KitKat check out Cyanogenmod 11 and if you want to stick with stock touchwiz, check out this trimmed-down stock rom

What to do next after Cyanogenmod?

Hi I have an unrooted Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 on Cyanogenmod M11, Was on UK VOD stock but moved to Cyanogenmod which is still on 4.4.4 KitKat but I'm a bit worried about future development of CGM. I read about tussles with other companies and big aspirations for M12 but the regular updates I've been enjoying have died out. not even a lollipop stable yet, I'm beginning to lose hope.
I know I shouldn't be so skeptical but I want to explore other roots (no pun intended).
Currently which rom would provide me with a stable lollipop with regular OTA updates for future proofing my phone?
Thanks v much
Alternatively I guess I could go back to stock to get lollipop but haven't done it in a while Im guessing I just flash a stock image via odin
Those tensions don't really affect Cyanogenmod, though I understand your concern. However, the biggest issue you're going to have is that most - if not all - custom ROMs are built using Cyanogenmod as a base. Realistically, the only alternative available I can think of without going to Touchwiz is Danvdh/Kryten's GPE ROM. Going back to Touchwiz is a dead end. Samsung has stated that Android 5.x is the end of the line for the S4, meaning there will be no Android M unless using a custom ROM.
Thanks very much for the excellent advice. I will give Danvdh/Kryten's GPE ROM a go and see how I go. I'm going to post the link to the ROM thread if anyone is following the same route as me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353
EDIT: I'm going to try http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-orig-develop/rom-cyanogenmod-12-t2943934 first as its CM 12 lollipop which is what I was looking for really but will try GPE if i dont like that rom
Another question... sorry: i currently have CWM on my phone but the CM rom says to use TWRP with F2FS does cwm have this or do i need to remove CWM and install TWRP?

Don't use that version of CM. It's not what you want because it's not updated anymore.
Use this version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...lop/exclusive-antaresone-alucard24-s-t3066696
or the Official nightlies.
I used the older one but realised too late (
got stuck with no gapps and the bloody thing wouldnt boot into recovery cwm or twrp :/ never had that before. so having to do stock flash It's failed twice LOL
EDIT: got it stocked well thats something at least. anyway tomorrow I'll try again and get TWRP on there properly, it was weird because cyanogemod had installed CWM on there before i couldnt get rid of it :/ so i ended up with no recovery manager doh! Thanks for the link Lenny

Rooting a Storm

I've been a mod head for many years and just got my Storm after many happy HTC years. I was just wondering is worth rooting the Storm as it is already running a customised OS. Any thoughts please?
I recomend you rooting . It is simple. Now we have TWRP so i believe custom roms like DU and others will be availble soon AS for now you can choose between COS 12.1.1 (Lollipop) and CM13(marshmallow) and i believe cm12.1 (lollipop). Shotly i recomend rooting.

Do you have to increase the size of the system partition to install CM13 (marshmallow) or simply flash the latest CM13 recovery and nightly for the storm(kipper) device.
You dont need to repartition. I recomend flash TWRP and then cm13, because i've had some problems with Cyanogen recovery

OK thanks, I already have TWRP installed, so you can easily install the latest cm13 nightly using TWRP recovery, then an applicable gaps package.
Do you have drivers for the storm. If so post a link
