[prequisite] Anyone wanting Moto G XT1031 on Lollipop - Moto G General

K guys besides bootloader being LP ready here goes your solution(s)
after this any 5.0 or 5.1 [non gpe] Rom is doable
Anything Else, Lemme know ..
*twrp should be used first, Til the Stock 5.02 laid out in linked thread is Established..
Then whichever recovery can be used to replace it if you want instead
PLUS I dont remember if PhilZ has sideload enabled or only twrp , plz check before proceeding ,, if you intend on doing the full deal. And prefer cmw based.

Just rename the zip to the one stock debloated after all else formats + script last etc
* remember you must use fastboot devices command to make sure device is shown initially before loading sideload not adb devices & no need full sdk either way onlyminimal adb 1.4.2
and/or Moto-Gtools (moto drivers from it)
It is really good to setup your motoG with stock 5.0 Lollipop first anyways if coming from Kit Kat not gpe or anything

The above was mainly for anyone having problems getting lollipop update on xt1028/xt1031 CDMA Moto G 'Falcon'
*This does not include instructions for loading a 41.18/41.19 Bootloader onto your phone your are on your own there if you need to mine was included and factory unlocked
**SEE NOTE AFTER STEP 3**
1.) Move/copy ALL of your info you have on your phone off of it to your pc which means if you have a zero folder visible use a root file manager and move those to the main one too the one seeable by your pc
*you can make a folder called backup 2015 or something,include your titanium backups pics music notes etc if you want also your rom backup(s) you had saved
2.) Delete that zero folder from within twrp
3.) Get your files ready on your pc which are adb & The moto driver pack I have included both here please uninstall any old adb driverpacks off of your pc for your moto G, install these and reboot your pc
*After driver install reboot before doing anything with your phone make sure usb debugging enabled and plug your phone in once or twice to make sure the right driver is loaded and ready
-When plugged in during fastboot it is Motorola adb interface in device man
-When Plugged in during normal power up/adb it is shown as something else - change it to Moto Adb
4.) Find your adb folder & Place 2.8.6.0 Twrp img /PhilZ LPK / Falcon_debloated stock rom into the adb folder itself to get ready for recovery flash & sideload of stock lollipop
5.)Do the wipes I listed on the other thread advanced wipe user data/media f2s format and data format f2fs (click change format type just to be sure) REBOOT RECOVERY
6.) If not on the recovery already I listed Flash your twrp recovery from adb while your phone is in bootloader window fastboot -fastboot flash recovery yourrecoverynamehere.img
**To use the adb I included once in your adb folder SHIFT+RIGHT-CLICK anywhere blank inside the folder and 'open command prompt here' - IMPORTANT --> After flashing recovery gracefully volume down to recovery from bootloader , unplug your usb cable after about ten seconds and reboot recovery once at least to initiate it. If it powers down boot into bootloader flash again optionally and boot into recovery manually if it powers down again
7.) Manually format each dalvik-art / cache / system then do the standard factory reset format ...
**Make sure this file is in your adb folder Along with the Debloated Rom
8.) Reboot Into recovery Plug USB cable enter advanced/Adb Sideload and Swipe to begin // Go to adb folder SHIFT + open terminal Window command prompt here and type

adb sideload falcon_LP_partition_II.zip
9.) Wait Til It is Done and reboot into bootloader then choose recovery and repeat step 8 (close old window and open a NEW terminal window) with code

adb sideload falcon_LP_debloated.zip
10.) Unplug The cable reboot system DO NOT Superuser root/ Do not allow twrp to install root . Wait approx ten minutes for first boot setup your phone
Do Not Install any gapps Though if you want I did use gapps-lp-20141212-signed.zip with success ,none other.
Do not install any kernels with this except ATTACKED KERNEL + Adiutor or synapse OR possibly aero kernel + aero tuner app & Do not install them until your phone is completely setup & stock backed up rebooted at least 2-3 times to settle.It is much better to just not worry about leftovers and flash a kernel to stock rom intact whenever not on over another.
When initiating WiFi exchange services crashes for some reason allow it to find open networks and have your location on and always on during sleep until signed into google initial sync is done etc etc , THEN you can turn location off & Switch it to only on while plugged in
Also on accounts main page top right uncheck sync for google services after initial sync and a rebbot or two.
*Battery Savers,bigtime.
Enable developer usb debugging and animation scales all to .5
Turn of motorola Privacy stuff they just want in your privacys lol
Turn WiFi off and enable mobile data get where a signal is good so you can get your data right .. I turned on automatic(not home) data roaming AND DO NOT TOUCH SUBSCRIPTION-your phone will cease to function if you switch it from NV
Edit your sounds volumes alarm ringer etc
Copy the latest SuperSu to your Moto G flash it in recovery
Reboot and settle , Plug it in to your pc and Place your tiBackup folder back onto phone where it was music pics you gotta have on it wallpapers etc.. . ..
Now flash This puppy here and reboot
I will update this thread shortly and put up a System Apps update zip from tiBackup of just ten apps.
And yes I uninstalled the stock Voicemail app thing with tibackup I' m pretty sure it is just a trial and It is not your carrier's built in vm service.
When I used the gapps to see if exchange services issue would straighten out I also uninstalled play games books tv and YouTube. I used OGyoutube instead.
Exchange Services hardly ever does the thingie, and Ogyoutube doesn't allow sign-in YET, but plays in background..
Ds battery I used Profile strong / Fix is set at 256 but IG 512 is fine too / Yes only use trimmer once a month or so / Yeah moto G multi seem worked enable both click aww yea/
Wakeblock Only One I used was WiFi Full/

update Chrome Opt Out of Ads ,Update Gallery idk what else . Only thing I can think of it may 'need standard' that is missing is ,adway or replace chrome with #noChromo x32 . .You have a choice of two launchers only for fact I included Stained icons pack it looks nice with this..

EDIT:Aero Kernel Didnt work til I reflashed stock boost 5.02 kernel for falcon and had to sideload it. Me no likey that I advise skip it ,use attacked if you want one.
Or maybe it is just that I needed to disable the battery saver, Wakelock App, and Turn off Moto Multitasker before installing a new kernel idk right now..
Good Chance of It, I did however wipe dalvik & cache pre-kernel update.

Stock VM isn't a trial... Just wanted to add my 2 cents.

For all having problems making root/recovery/flash like I did I'm writing some things I did do get it going:
(1st time flashers) All the steps
On tattoo:
- Boot on your stock recovery and wipe cache then factory reset.
- Reboot
On PC:
- Install HTC Sync on your PC and optionally install Android SDK Tools. Update SDK Tools with SDK Manager.
- Download latest 1Click update by tenis and extract it to C:\ so you have rtattoo on hard disk root.
- Download the latest cyanogenmod and gapps for your device and put it on the root of your sdcard.
On tattoo:
- Select USB Debugging Mode ON to Application/Development
- Connect tattoo to PC and select HTC Sync
On PC:
- Try to run "adb devices" from (c:\rtattoo\adb.exe) on command prompt, it must show your device attached, if it says that adb is deprecated you can replace it with the one on SDK Tools you've installed
- Close terminal and hit rootTattoo on rtattoo folder.
- If it's showing a number on terminal the application found your CID, write it down or make a printscreen if you didn't a goldcard and want to make it later with your sdcard.
- Hit any key to start. It will run all the way without taking anymore action from you and it automatically reboots tattoo.
Now you have recovery installed.
- Turn off the phone.
- Press home button and without releasing it press power button and hold the two together until the clockworkmod recovery shows up.
- Select Backup to backup your current ROM, you will need it if you want to go to stock ROM
- Reboot if you want to make sure everything is OK and get into recovery again
- Select wipe cache/factory reset from the menu using your D-Pad.
( BE CAREFUL now, you should have your battery with a good amount of charge, make a full charge before just to be sure)
- After the wipe select update from zip file, go thru you card and select the cyanogenmod zip to flash your rom.
- After flash go back on the menu and select reboot device.
Wait patiently for the full boot, it can take several minutes, the rom is being configured.
After the android skater shows up wait a bit more and the operating system will start.
Don't rush into the phone once it gets started up, let it settles and start all services.
After that, since you are rooted, with recovery and flashed, the last thing is to reboot on recovery, select update from zip and hit the gapps zip file to get the google apps instaled (optional)

Well you're right but that didn't work for me.
Androot OK, flashed by rom manager supposedly OK but, on boot clockworkmod never showed up.

[Guide] What to do when you Factory Reset in CM 12.1

My little brother really enjoys using my old Kindle Fire HD 7." I barely use it myself, but I always keep up to date about the Cyanogen Mod updates. When I heard Hashcode was working on it, I was really excited. When it came out, I downloaded it, installed it, and set it up. I was very happy with overall performance, especially with the OC feature. There was that one bug where if you clicked restart it wouldn't restart but overall it was one of the best Cyanogen Mods yet.
My little brother however wanted to use it, and me not using it anymore went to go use the built in factory reset. That killed it. It wouldn't boot up, but would keep flashing the TWRP screen. So, here is what I did to fix it...
What you need:
1.USB Cable (No Factory Cable Needed)
2.Windows PC with Android SDK installed
3.Working TWRP
4.ADB Drivers (Download it here: Removed due to 10 post regulation)
5.This toolkit (Download it here: Removed due to 10 post regulation)
(Note: Make sure driver digital verification is disabled)
Once you have all of those installed, lets begin!
1.Go into the SDK\platform-tools and open a command window there
2. In the command window type in: adb reboot-bootloader
3. You should be in fastboot, now go into device manager and select other and find the one with a weird name (Should have PVT in the name)
4.Click update drivers, and select the ADB drivers
5.Now go into toolkit and select delete user data and cache
6. Wait for it to load and when your done it should be able to boot into TWRP
After this, you can successfully boot into TWRP and do whatever

Backup any personal files because everything will be deleted! Make sure you have at least 50% battery remaining.
1. Unlocking the bootloader officially
This is the first step in voiding your warranty so is the point of no return. I've read in some places that you may be able to do this without voiding your warranty but I did not look into this.
WARNING - This will delete everything on the phone so make sure to backup important personal files.
i) Visit the official LG website to obtain a bootloader unlock file. First click the 'How to Unlock the Bootloader' tab and then the button 'Starting Unlocking the Bootloader' at the bottom of the page: https://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev
ii) Sign up to a free developer account using a real email address (it's needed)
iii) Enter your IMEI number which you can find on your box, under the battery or by dialing *#06# on the phone. Keep this tab open
iv) On your phone, go to settings -> About phone -> Software info and then tap on Build number 7 times. Go back to Developer options under general settings and enable 'USB debugging' and 'Enable OEM unlock'.
v) Install the LG G4 drivers from here: http://oceanhost.eu/e4h2px4e0hkd/LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.0.4.exe.htm
vi) Download and install minimal adb 1.4 from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24521665358595410
vii) Browse to where you installed this and then right click and select 'Open command window here'. By default, this is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
viii) Plug in your phone to your computer using a reliable USB port and cable (USB 3.0 doesn't seem to work). Enter "adb reboot bootloader" into the command window without quotations. Wait for it to reboot and then type "fastboot oem device-id"
ix) This fastboot command will return a character string. This is the Device ID which is needed to generate your unique unlock key. It will look like this:

To generate your unlock key, you will need to paste together the 2 lines of output into one continuous string without "(bootloader)" or white spaces. In the example above, the Device ID would be:
CD58B679A38D6B613ED518F37A05E013F93190BD558261DBBC5584E8EF8789B1
Paste this into the LG website form and confirm. It will email you an unlock.bin file which you need to put in the same folder as your adb.exe file.
x) Now enter "fastboot flash unlock unlock.bin" into the command window. This should take seconds.
xi) Now check it is unlocked. By entering “fastboot reboot” and waiting for it to reboot. Then enter "adb reboot bootloader" again and then "fastboot getvar unlocked" and verifying that the response is "unlocked: yes".
Your bootloader should now be unlocked.Keep this command window open for the next step.

2. Installing TWRP Custom Recovery
This will install a custom recovery allowing you to make backups and flash zip files.
i) With your bootloader freshly unlocked, you can boot up the device and set it up. Go through the startup guide thoroughly without skipping as these settings are going to stay.
ii) Download the latest TWRP img file from https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4387389&d=1515789045 and place it in the same folder as your adb.exe file and unlock.bin. Now rename it to lgg4-twrp.img without changing the file extension!
iii) Now also copy the lgg4-twrp.img file to your phone's SD card using a USB cable.
iv) Enable USB debugging again
v) Open up a command window again by Shift+Right clicking in the folder with adb.exe.
vii) In the command window, type "adb reboot bootloader". Wait to enter the bootloader and then type "fastboot boot lgg4-twrp.img" and hit enter. The device should now restart in TWRP but it is not installed yet.
vii) Once TWRP starts, select 'install' and then tick 'images' at the bottom.
viii) Find the lgg4-twrp.img file and select it. Then in the next menu select 'recovery' and swipe the bar at the bottom to confirm flash.
ix) You should then see 'Image Flash Complete' so can select back then reboot and system.
(If installing from an external SD card, go to 'mount' from the main screen and then tick to mount your ext SD card. Go back and continue as normal)

3. Root
By now, you should have an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery installed.
If you use snapchat, you won't be able to log in with a rooted phone. So it would be a good idea to install it now and log in. You remain logged in rooting and installing Xposed. Quicklink: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.snapchat.androidi) Download SuperSU from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24369303960690845 and place it on your phones internal storage.

ii) Make sure you have USB debugging enabled again.
iii) Now with your phone on and plugged in, enter recovery by opening adb as before and entering "adb reboot recovery".
If you have problems, see the end of this sectioniv) Once in the recovery, hit install and browse to the SuperSU file we just downloaded.
vii) Swipe flash and then reboot into the system.
The phone should now boot and be rooted. If not, see the notes at the end of this section.
You can use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck to verify if you have root.
• If your phone does not turn on then pull out the battery and USB cable and then put just the battery back in. Now Press and hold the volume down and power buttons together. Then first LG logo should appear. Now continue holding the down button but release the power button for one second and then press it again and hold.
You should now see a screen asking you to wipe everything. Navigate with the down arrow and press the power button for both screens. This should now take you to TWRP recovery and NOT actually wipe the phone.
• If you had a bootloop then follow the above steps to get into the recovery and then you will need to download the following onto the phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/stock-h815-20g-images-kdz-flashable-t3450503 [1.5GB]
Once in the recovery, you are able to connect the phone to the computer for regular data transfer in order to transfer the file. (I had problems with the microSD card so I would avoid it).
This system image seems to be missing the FM Radio, LG Remote and SmartSettings, Voice Recorder and Quickmemo apps. To get these back, go to general settings -> About phone -> Update centre -> App updates and download/install as necessary.• If you still could not get into the recovery at all then follow the unbrick steps below in section 6.

4. Installing Xposed
i) Download Xposed from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3848457&d=1471691646 and place it on your phone or SD card
ii) Enter recovery using the methods shown before. (You can also now enter recovery using this root app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antaresone.quickreboot)
iii) Use the recovery menus to flash the zip file. Reboot.
iv) Download and install the Xposed installer app, XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk, from the post attachment here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811

5. Installing Viper4Android (this breaks FM radio!)
WARNING - The FM radio app will not work after installing this.

ii) Place the zip file on your phone or SD card and flash it in recovery. Reboot.
iii) Open the ViperFX app. From the menu and install the driver.

Install it. Open the app and set selinux to permissive. Reboot.

Once all this is done and you're happy. It would be a good idea to enter recovery and make a full backup so that you can restore to the clean rooted state.
6. Unbrick Guide
If something messed up while flashing something and can't boot. Open up the recovery and restore your backup. If you don't have one, flash the v20d system image from an external SD card [1.5GB]. If you cannot get to the recovery then follow these steps:
i) Make sure you have the LG Drivers installed from here: http://oceanhost.eu/e4h2px4e0hkd/LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.0.4.exe.htm
ii) Download the LG Bridge software from here: http://www.lg.com/us/support/product-help/CT10000025-1438110404543-preinstall-apps
iii) Remove the battery and reinsert it so the device it is fully off.
iv) While holding the up volume button, insert your USB cable.
v) You should enter download mode. Go to the Software Update tab of the LG Bridge. It will say connecting and then should say your device is up to date. Click on the recovery text on the bottom right and then follow the instructions. The software will download the system image for you and this is roughly 1.6GB so make sure your firewall doesn't block this connection.
This shouldn't delete your data (no guarantees) but you will have to grant app permissions again and reapply any changes to system files e.g. root, viper4android, xposed ect.

7. Debloat

Removing these won't break the phone but of course be smart about it; removing Weather will mean you don't have the weather app. I only removed Google apps I don't use and redunadant apps from LG.

I would advice you to make a backup of them first in case you want them back. It's the easiest way to get the apps back.

8. Battery Optimisations
The aim is to get maximum battery life without compromising speed, user experience, features or notifications.
(I'm just going to use the following space as a log of things I've done. I will tidy this up when complete. Please do suggest if any of these things are ineffective or detrimental.)

1. Disable Activity Logs: General Settings -> About phone -> Activity Logs at the bottom.

2. Disable Smart Settings under General Settings
3. Disable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi scanning location service: General Settings -> Location -> Menu -> Scanning -> Untick both. (I honestly can't believe these exist. I wondered why I have bluetooth wakelocks)
4. Disable Open Wi-Fi scanning: Network Settings -> Wi-Fi -> Menu -> Advanced -> Untick Wifi notification. Toggle this on and off as it should also fix random white LED blinking.
5. Greenify 2.9 beta to enable aggressive doze.

Please note that this is my first thread and I'm not a developer. I hope the instructions are as complete and accurate as possible and they are what I followed for my H815 602. If there are any things I forgot or updates, please do let me know.

On 6.0 Android is more secured and so to install recovery you have to either boot the recovery, flash custom kernel, then flash recovery or unpack boot.img from a custom kernel, flash it via fastboot, then flash recovery and lastly full kernel package in recovery. Better if you include this in your guide because many people will be asking "why my recovery is not booting?" and that's what we don't want. I've repeated this about 50 times or more and finally I will not have to.

Thanks for the correction.
In addition to what you've done, I have installed greenify and hibernated Snapchat, Viber and Facebook apps. WhatsApp isn't hibernated.
I have the donate version and xposed so till gcm push notifications.
I haven't done anything else. I had better battery stats installed for a few days and I kept checking it and was annoyed that I'd always have ~30% awake time with the screen off. There were no kernel wake locks, it was just app alarms mainly from android and Google.

I was getting 4 hours SOT and 20 hours use out of the box. Now I'm down to 3 hours 30.

I haven't tried it myself but have gone with the tried and trusted TWRP backup: http://www.howtogeek.com/240582/how-to-back-up-and-restore-your-android-phone-with-twrp/

These work great; you end up booting exactly where you left off and even with browser tabs still open as you left them.
From my understanding, you would need to boot into the phone and then perform the restore in the LG app. So this would require a bootable phone. The only times I restore would be after bootloops. For general app restore and settings, I use Titanium Backup. This provides the added benefit of being able to restore on different phones.

just to update all of you: I did root my 20d g4 and LG backup managed to restore almost everything. All apps are back, but I needed to agree to permissions for all of them and some returned with saved data, some did not. For example, none of my BT devices were recognised, so I have to pair all of them, which is tricky for moto 360, since it needed to be factory reset. However, I am very pleased with how things went in the end.
Also, my phone was not recognised when rebooting to fastboot, it took me an hour of changing ports and drivers, but then I decided to install the driver manually via device manager (win 7). I made an educated guess and nailed it
Also, I had a really hard time unlocking the bootloader, because LG site kept providing "service unavailable" message, so I had to fool the server that I am in Singapore (like in this guide https://youtu.be/O64GfQORCaE )...

This will allow you to run Viper4Android without having to set SELinux to permissive. This is better for security but I also had issues with the SELinux mode changing back so would sometimes have to reboot or reinstall the viper driver to get it to work again. After doing this, you don't need the SELinux mode changer app.

Activate Developer Options: Tap Settings > System > About Phone > Build Number. Tap Build Number until you see you're a Developer. Tap back > Developer Options. Enable OEM Unlock and, USB Debugging.
Boot Bootloader
Connect your phone to your computer via USB cable.
Open a Command Prompt on your computer.
Type the following at the prompt and press enter:

This will erase all user data from the device!
You should see a screen on your phone asking you to confirm this action, use the volume keys to scroll and the power key to make your selection.
Allow the process to complete and then issue this command:

When your phone reboots disconnect your usb cable.
Note: After unlocking your bootloader, you'll be greeted with a warning that says Your device software can't be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader everytime you reboot. It's ok, as long as your bootloader is unlocked it will stay there.
Important: do not repeat do not relock your bootloader unless your phone is fully stock. You must flash the factory images first in order to remove root and custom recovery (if you have them), if this precaution isn't taken you may end up with a brick. Please see 9 of this guide for instructions on how to return to stock and lock the boot loader.
Install Factory Image and wipe data
Backup your data and Internal storage
Download the factory image for your phone and carrier.
Unzip factory Image
Copy the following files to the Platform Tools folder on your Computer

It has been posted several times that the June security update doesn't need the verified boot signer. Only the May update needed it.

I was asking if there was any affect to the rooting ability of the device if you did vs didn't use the -w command. I completed my update of my phone. I never like a dirty update since it only causes problem later on. I tested it without the -w switch and everything worked (kept my data, but as mentioned dirty flashes = no good), so I went back and repeated the steps with the -w switch. Everything works like a charm. Only issue I have noticed is that Netflix is no longer compatible with my device?!? Like not really sure why, but cant install it from the play store. Will contact Netflix about this later today.

Gotcha, there are no 'effects to the rooting ability of the device'.
However, some apps will not work unless you 'hide Root' with Magisk i.e. Android Pay, Netflix's, etc.

I dunno about you but I have magisk hide on and hid the playstore and a few other processes but if its checking your phone at a point before you can enable magisk hide and storing the results wouldn't it not make much difference? I ask this because magisk hide or not, netflix doesnt show up. Even on a clean boot its not listed as an app I can restore. The simple fix for me is to restore a back up or simply download from apk mirror.

I would say a BIG tks: I've been rooting my phones for years and this one is definitely a rollercoaster of information and success for me (boot loop over boot loop, random crash, random bugs... after following many guides..)
Will try this one (had to factory reset again yesterday: phone would not boot up).
One (major) thing is missing here: what to do with the slot a/b? I had crashes that automatically switched from one slot to the other slot, confusing the hell out of (the retarded?) me. It's still not clear what I'm suppose to double flash or not....

When you flash a factory image, flash it in both slots.
Flash all once
Boot into the bootloader again
Swap slots in bootloader
Flash all again

(update: needed twrp-pixel-installer-marlin-3.1.0-0RC2 installed and booted to install magisk v12 pixel (was getting error 1 with twrp-pixel-installer-marlin-3.0.2-0-RC1.zip))

I dunno about you but I have magisk hide on and hid the playstore and a few other processes but if its checking your phone at a point before you can enable magisk hide and storing the results wouldn't it not make much difference? I ask this because magisk hide or not, netflix doesnt show up. Even on a clean boot its not listed as an app I can restore. The simple fix for me is to restore a back up or simply download from apk mirror.

One (major) thing is missing here: what to do with the slot a/b? I had crashes that automatically switched from one slot to the other slot, confusing the hell out of (the retarded?) me. It's still not clear what I'm suppose to double flash or not....

Intro
The purpose of this thread is twofold:
First, it is for Pixel XL owners that want to Root their phone, and enjoy the benefits of rooting it without installing a custom ROM...
If you follow the instructions above you should not have to worry about slot a/b. The firmware will put it in the correct slot.
If you are installing Custom ROM this thread is not for you. You, should follow the installation instructions of the Custom ROM you want to install.

[GUIDE] How to root, install TWRP, ROMs and mods on a G3s/G3 beat d722 in 2020?

*After I wrote this whole thing as a DM i figured it might be helpful for a couple of people that are struggeling to root and install a custom recovery on their d722.*
Before we start you will need a PC with internet connection and a USB cable.

First you will need to flash your phone back to 4.4 kitkat firmware to ensure maximum compatibility (this is the only way my device would root) ( find it here: https://lg-firmwares.com/ (type in your model and download a 4.4 firmware closet to your region, language...)). We will do that with the lg flash tool (find it here: https://lgflash.com/download/) + also install lg drivers if you don't have them already (https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/lg-mobile-drivers-and-software-CT10000027-20150179827560).
1. First enable developer options in phone settings by tapping the build number 7 times. Go to the developer options and there tick usb debugging. Than you want to turn you device off. Hold volume up and plug it into you computer. You will get into download mode. On your PC extract and open the lg flash tool. There you will chose your kdz firmware file you downloaded previously and click normal fash. Choose other instead of korean and your preferred language. When you flash it the tool might report an error but just ignore it and wait for the phone to reach 100% download. It will reboot itself when finished. After that you can close the flash tool and continue to the next step.
2. Now you will root your phone. You will do that with lg one click root (found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951). Download the latest GUI version, install it onto your PC and open it. When your redy plug your phone into the computer (turned on no apps open) and click start. Wait for it to be done. It's normal for it to restart a few times.
3. Now we will instal the custom recovery to be able to flash ROMs. To do that you will need to dowbload this zip file from here and extract it with 7zip (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61220755&postcount=100) and install ADB (remeber install folder) (from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979). Paste aboot file into /sdcard folder (or folder of choice with adjusted path in command) ob your phone uding file manager. Than open CMD and type in
cd *path of your folder*
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/aboot.bin of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot
If you get an error that says there is no aboot file or something similar than you nees to change this command : dd if= *your phones path*/aboot.bin of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot For me it was : dd if=/external_SD/aboot.bin of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/aboot
4. This should have installed a basic version of TWRP on your phone ane booted into twrp recovery but we will be updating it.
To get into recovery from off state hold volume down + power button until you see the LG logo. Relese both for a split second and hold both down again (volume down + power) until you see an option to factory reset (wont actualy reset anything if you did all steps correctly). Click yes and yes again by using volume and power buttons and you will be booted to TWRP.
Alternative is to go to playstore and download root app that boots you to recovery if you do it often.
This version is quite old and not capable of flashing newer ROMs so we will be flashing an updated version (download it here: https://vasy.ru/TWRP/jagnm/ and rename it to .img if it isnt named like that alredy). Easiest way is to download it to your PC and transfer it via USB if your PC detects the phone while in TWRP. If not boot it up transfer the files and boot back to recovery. Now just flash the .img file and reboot.
5. At this point you have root privilages (super SU) and a custom recovery. Now all theres left to do is to flash ROMs and mods.
You boot to TWRP recovery, connect your phone to the PC and transfer the .zip files you want to flash. Tha you click flash in twrp chose your ROM files and click add more, your GAPPS click add more and the mod (if you want to try it of course). Than you flash them, wair for it to finish and click reboot.
If it takes longer than 15 min+ than you probaboy have a bootloop. To fix it take out the battery put it back in and boot into recovery (volume down + power until LG logo pops up, release for half a second hold again, yes and yes). Try factory reseting (type yes). And than just flash the ROM and boot. If it boots go back to recovery and flash GAPPS and mod and it should normaly boot into android.
If nothing fixes your issue you can alway use the firmware and lgflashtool to go back to default unrooted kitkat or lolipop.
My recomendations:
I personaly use this liniage (14.1) 7.1 ROM as it's still getting updates (I also tried 8.1 but it's buggy, laggy and gapps don't work):

I bought a G3s D722 cheap off ebay to experiment with. I tried to flash four different kitkat roms many times on 2 computers and each time the phone went into boot loop (start tune and logo over and over) so I flashed the first UK Lollipop on the list and all went fine, there are not UK kitkat roms in the link.
The UK kitkat roms must be different is all I can determine anyone know where I can get one?
The preflash OS was V20e-EUR-XX and now its V20d
Any thoughts or suggestions anyone?
