WiFi calls - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone come up with a way to forward calls to your watch through WiFi and make calls as well?
We know you can connect a Bluetooth directly to your watch, so theoretically you could do it... Am I right?

Anyone?

A2DP and HRP are the only bluetooth profiles enabled in android wear right now. Bluetooth headset/earpieces use the HSP profile.
Theoretically, you could have a push-to-talk conversation, using the watch mic and bt audio. It would have to be a call via a SIP app (e.g. skype, google), and not a call received by your phone via cell network.
Apparently side-loaded apps do have direct internet access when connected to wifi (see firefox on wear), so maybe someone will hack something together. (I haven't tried the internet connection myself) I would be very surprised if it's a good experience.

a wear ptt solution would b big. that would b an awesome hangouts feature aswell

VOIP - The basics

I'm somewhat new to voip. I have an at&t tilt and I'm signed up with the internet unlimited and a voice plan of 450 min. I told at&t that I just want the internet data plan and that they can cancel the voice plan because together they are costing over 100 a month,
What I want to do is use my unlimited data plan with voip. I installed skype but I don't like the way it uses my speaker phone instead of just the regular phone speaker.
at&t can't charge me for using skype right? I mean besides my data charges...
I noticed that the rom I installed on my phone has a voip setting within the comm manager, Can I put the info from my skype account into this voip settings in the communication manager?
Like I said I'm just trying to save money by using my tilt aka kaiser as an internet only device and then use voip for the phone functionality. I would need to be able to call lan lines and other cell phones and also have my own phone number to accept incoming calls. I am thankful for any help"even if it's to tell me it can't be done" Thanks
no data is data att dont know what your data is voice, movies, pr0n or whatever if they did they would be breaking a pile of laws for spying on you
and even if they knew they cant charge you for a service they dont provide for you
also pretty sure that no voip application or other application can access the "reguler phone" speaker think it's hardwired to the gsm module
SO theres no way to have a private conversation with somone? speakerphone is too loud to always use. what about blue tooth? will bluetooth work with skype on a mobile. Or really what im asking is ; can I use bluetooth to hear sound on my phone other than gsm>?
yes using a2dp
and even a wired headset should work
I think you will find that A2DP uses too much CPU to be used with a high-CPU application such as Skype (it certainly does on my Hermes). Also, as far as I can tell A2DP is a one way audio link (sound goes to the headset, but not the other way) and such is inappropriate for this type of use. Your best bet is to use a wired headset.
You may also want to try Fring (google it); i'm told it contains a Skype client that can use the phone's speaker as opposed to the loudspeaker.
Windows Mobile 6 has its own VOIP built in (provided it wasn't removed from your ROM) and while this works (uses the in built phone app so works just like that can with any audio device that you can use in a normal phone call) it is very (and I mean VERY) difficult to set up. Definitely not for the feint of heart...

I just bought a bluetooth stereo headset that uses a2dp and I can carry coversations with it so it does work with phones calls.
Also where are the VOIP setting in WM6?
Like he said, your provider may have taken it out, I flashed my rom so I have it. But Inorder to set it up, Would I still need an account with skype? or another service? or will the voip in wm6 work on its own,?

Wondering if this exists (bluetooth related)

In my friend's car, he can dial his contacts by connecting his phone to his car. Basically he can program the car to have voice activated dialing and etc. Now my question is, is there an app for android that allows your device to connect to your pc via bluetooth, and then allows the pc to make/receive calls? I searched this on XDA and didn't find anything, same with just plain google. Thanks!

Connect mic on mobile using bluetooth to nook

Hey,
Just curious is there and app, hack, or whatever to use the mic on your mobile phone as a mic for your nook. To connect using bluetooth?
My bluetooth on the nook works great between it and my phone. I am using nighly build 54 of CM7 with Dalagin's OC kernel.
In a slight hijack, where do I start using bluetooth? Can I:
Tap a contact and dial it on my phone?
Pop up an incoming call notification on my NC?
I know that (at least some of) this will depend on the profiles on my phone, but if my phone+NC == Android phone, I'm very interested.
To my knowledge, bluetooth microphones are still not working. That means using your phone as the mic would probably not work as well.
As for the notifications, an interesting idea. I think that they would have to be an application on the phone to reinterpret how your phone handles incoming calls. I don't know too much of the specifics so cannot give any useful information on this...
Regarding selecting a contact and having it call on your phone, I think that you could potentially rig a google voice account to do that for you. I know that you can use the webUI for google voice to make a call and connect your mobile to whatever number you want to call, so I think it is feasible to mimic that functionality using the NC's contact lists (which should be your google contacts anyway). Hope that helps.
I'm running 7.0.2 stable and I have had no luck getting a bt headset to work. It pairs just fine but has been completly un-usable. I'm using csipsimple for a phone app (Have tried others as well) but everytime I recieve a call or try to go off-hook to place one the app crashes with the headset paired. Otherwise it works fine, it registers with my pbx just fine and will notify me of vm I have.
I have a asterisk pbx setup at my home and have setup my HTC Eris (hero) running cm7 just fine with the same config (App+headset)
But the nook not so much.. I belive the mic function of the bt pair isn't working properly yet.
I'm usign GrooveIP (Market) for my VOIP app. It ties in w/ GoogleVoice and I can make and receive calls no problem. However, I cannot have my paired BT headset work with the app. No audio to or from the headset.
Has BT development been put on hold right now? I would like to get this going, but I am not a high level programmer. I will offer what assistance I can.
Did you get a wired headset to work? I got groove to call and I could hear clearly on my end,but they got nothing on the other end. Then when I hangups, groove crashes out.

It's a known issue w/ GrooveIP. I've sent log files over to the devs of GrooveIP, and they are very responsive and I believe genuinely interested in getting their app to work w/ the NC.
With that said, I think the majority of the problem resides in establishing two-way voice communication between the headset and the NC. What it involves to fix that, I am not sure yet, but I am digging into it further on my free time. Again, I am NO programmer (I wish I had the aptitude to get past prime reads), but I will do what I can.
any further progress on this, gents?

native SIP client with Bluetooth

Dear all,
I post here since I wanted to get some idea on how the internet calling feature is working for you using a bluetooth headphone.
I have quite some experience with VoIP. Ran it on my SIP Phone since years, on softphones on my laptop, and now on Android with a GalaxyTab and SipDroid / native VoIP app.
I recently added to my GalaxyTab a Jabra Stone 2 bluetooth headset, it hooks up fine, so I moved from SipDroid on Froyo 2.2 to the Native VoIP client included in Overcome 3.1.0 / Gingerbread 2.3.3 because I was keen on the integrated bluetooth features (answer with the bluetooth button).
But I discovered the VoIP function using bluetooth is working properly only over 3G, strangely over WiFi I can't understand anything from the other end (the same with the incoming and the outgoing calls), it's like an intermittent / discontinuous sound, but strangely, everything is fine after 30-34 seconds, sound quality great, just like from the 1st second of an Internet call over 3G.
I repeat, it happens only when the WiFi is ON, if WiFi is OFF and I use 3G, everything work properly.
In these conditions the internet calling feature is not satisfactory.
I tried 3rd party software again (Cipsimple, Sipdroid, ecc) and even there the same bad call quality when WiFi is turned ON and I use a bluetooth headset.
I also tried a Blueant Q2 bluetooth headset, same problem.
Maybe somebody can give me some feedback.
If I can not find a solution, I need to sell and change OS, which I do not really want.
Thanks in advance, take care and enjoy your time here.
Paula
BT x WIFI
Ohhh it's bad I know.
I looked around a lot about this. Seems like there's not much we can do, due to the fact that the same antena is being used for WIFI and BT at the same time (at least thats what it says for my Tab).
I use BTmono a lot, to watch movies while doing other stuff. BTmono redirects sound to an old Motorola H500 I have here... and guess what.. Can't watch Youtube while using the BT headset! Sometimes wifi gets so bad that I get connection errors simply by reading emails.
The more sound you got going through BT, the worse WIFI will get.
If anyone finds any tips... I will be watching.
BTW: I've tested Wifi every way possible... no security/encryption and in each and every channel and speed. Nothing helps. I have 2 mono headsets, old Motorola and new Jawbone. Things are worse with Jawbone, which is actaully much better for talking on the phone.
I think it's something fixable...
why after 30 seconds you start to ear the other end perfectly?
can you confirm that?
thanks for your feedback,
Paula

[Q] Connecting phone to tablet?

Is it possible to connect an android phone to the tablet through Bluetooth, WiFi or even usb and make and receive calls and sms through the tablet?
tried searching, but all i can find is how to use the phone's internet connection, but cant find any information on how to connect to the cell phone part for calls and sms.
you can use a app called textab ..or sms sync ..
for sms phone calls .. only thing i know of is like google voice or like skype.
Will those work with the iphone as well? I'd love to have texts pushed to my tablet.

There is an app in the market called AirDroid that will allow you to text through your tablet. It will connect to your phone via wifi using a web browser, I am using Skyfire. I am not sure if you can make phone calls, but you can transfer music and photos. Hope this helps.

Airdroid is a very nice and useful app. thanks for that.
unfortunately, no phone function though.
years ago, i had an old "dumb" phone that i connected to the computer with bluetooth and was able to make and receive calls from it.
wonder why it is not available with the so called "smart" phones.
even to just be able to use the tablet as a hands-free device to answer calls would be useful to me. i can do it when the phone is connected to the computer with bluetooth. but when i try to connect the phone to the tablet, nothing happens. it tells me that it is paired but not connected and no other options are available on either the tablet or the phone.
They have a program called tablet talk on the market. You can make and receive txt true the tablet and see incoming phone calls on the tablet from the phone thru Bluetooth or wifi
If your on sprint, you can just integrate your cell number into google voice, with groove ip I can make calls and SMS from gvoice app

It's a very interesting concept. It's something that I would be interested as well.
Tablet Talk and Texttab allow to send and receive SMS when connected to the phone by BT.
Tablet Talk works with most tablets with a Wi-Fi connection but not with the iconia a100/500
For phone calls, there is still another problem with the a500 : it's the low volume of the microphone, anyway...
Google voice plus goove IP... your welcome.
Thanks, but I already have a voip service.
not what i am looking for.
like to have a direct access to the cellphone part from my tablet. or at the very least, use the tablet as a handsfree device.
but i guess it is asking too much and it is not possible or there would have been something on market to do that by now.
oh well...
Use phone with tablet
Hi,
I'm interested in this aswel ...
Primarily the idea is that say I have a Samsung Note, which is a bit big to hold up to your head to make a call, to be able to connect a phone to the Note and make/receive calls using the phone but through the Note. A bit like a bluetooth headset, but using a phone.
Before anyone says it, I have a B'Tooth headset, but I hate them - I don't want to look like a cab driver 8)
Cheers,
Stu
I use TexTab. I love it. It allows me to create new texts, respond to ones that come in, and even displays alerts for incoming calls. I can leave my phone charging in one room of my house while I use my Iconia in another room to text through my phone.
Bluetooth only
Here is the thing. I installed an android tablet in my car, and now i am trying to sync it to my phone in regard to phone calls and sms. I know google voice can do that but i am not planning on putting internet connection on the tablet since it will almost always be in the car. My old TomTom had a bluetooth sync with my phone and could receive phone calls from it .. is there any possible way i can do that and sync my tablet with my phone via bluetooth ???

You posted in very old thread. As an answer to you Bluetooth mic support is not available with the a500 in either direction, so it will not do as you want
MighyText
I use mightytext. Its simple.and does not need to be connected either by bluetooth nor wifi. Works like.. charm. Just download it.on both your android devices. Very simple
