[Q] Just got the Yotaphone2, and two small annoying problems - YotaPhone

Hi all,
intrigued by the phone and due to the fact that I'm an avid reader, I decided to go for it.
I'm still getting used to it but I've got two small annoying problems that I can't figure out if it's a device fault or else:
1) when two-finger typing, if I press two letters fast enough, it records it as a swipe gesture. Not a major thing, I can type slower than that, but it would be interesting to know if this is an issue specific with Lollipop or else.
2) I've enabled the pattern lock, but I can still unlock the phone without any pattern when sliding bottom-up the main screen. This is a bit more annoying, as when keeping the phone in the pocket it happens I get it unlocked by mistake and I thought the pattern lock would solve this.
Is this normal?

1. If that keyboard-swipe thing happens on the color screen, make sure you have disabled "Gesture typing" from the Google Keyboard settings (Settings - Language & input). Alternatively you can also try out some different keyboard app. If it happens on the EPD, then I guess you're out of luck.
2. Some other user reported that same issue with the slide-unlock, but I tried it just now and for me it asks for the pattern no matter how the screen is turned on.

hey and thanks for the reply.
1) I do use the gesture typing/swype keyboard as well as normal typing. My previous Nexus 4 had no problems no matter the speed I'm typing at. It's just on the main screen the EPD works fine and I'm kinda getting used to its laggines.
2) this is totally odd.. are you on Lollipop as well?

1. You could test some other keyboard app which supports Swipe. Although that does sound a bit that the system can't keep up with your typing and is flooded with touch events.
2. Yes, I'm on Lollipop. For me the slide-up just turns on the screen, and I need to swipe up again for the pattern entry screen to show up. It must be some specific combination of settings.

There are features called "smart lock" in the security settings that can bypass the pattern lock under certain conditions, maybe your set up is glitching and it may be worth poking around in there to see if something is set up.

Hi manmikey. I've checked and all the Smart Lock features are turned off, I've tried to play around a bit but can't really see anything out of place.
I currently have:
- screen lock: pattern
- lock second screen: on
- make pattern visible: off
- automatically lock: 5 secs unless kept unlocked by Smart Lock
- Power btn instantly locks: on
- Smart Lock: all off, but a very specific Sony speaker system
anything else that could impact this?
Might be just an Android bug?

I'm at a loss then, could it be a rouge "trusted face"? Maybe a blank face is in there! when the camera is looking for a face to unlock there is a symbol at the bottom centre of the screen that looks like a person in a circle, when defected the symbol changes to an open padlock, are you seeing anything like this when you swipe up to unlock?
Sent from my YD201 using XDA Free mobile app

there's no symbol: I can unlock the device (with the pattern lock active) just by swiping the main screen from the bottom center, up.
Just like that, and there's no screen in between the "turned off" state and the "android desktop".
I've checked and there are no registered friendly-faces in the smart lock, on top of it being off.

That use to happen to me but I think you have to wait a bit then it will ask for pattern or pin when unlocking

Its not normal behaviour you are experiencing, if its still fairly new and you haven't got too much stuff loaded on so far.....maybe try a factory reset?

Front screen.
The back screen asks for the pattern when unlocking.

As you suggested, I've tried the factory reset, but nothing has changed.
I've now opened a ticket with the customer support.

Hi. First of all, sorry for my bad English. I bought the Y2 few days ago and I had the swype problem. I tried one thing and, maybe, it is a possible solution. Tell me if it works.
(I don´t know how are the exactly menu names)
Settings-Language & input-google keyboard (6th option)-advanced Options-delay to hold: change the number to a higer one.
It works??
I have another problem. Could you help me?
When I use the keyboard, in the bottom right there is a keyboard icon (It serves to switch the keyboard). When I swipe, I always press the icon with my thumb accidentally and I can´t write.
Is there any way to remove the icon from there?
Thanks!

How to change the time on when you need to fingerprint unlock.

Not making sense my title. My friend just bought a GS5 for AT&T.. I have mine for T-mobile. He swiped his fingerprint to unlock his phone, then like 5 minutes later I picked it up to play with it, turned it on thinking I would need his finger print, but i didn't.. Just swiped to unlock.
He said he forgot where the setting is, but he doesn't have to swipe his finger every time the screen is off.. I do. and its kind of annoying.
Where is this setting pleasee???
I would imagine that he doesn't have the setting to lock automatically when he hits the power button selected.
Sent from my SM-G900V using xda app-developers app
ok here is the deal. I was able to find where I can have my phone lock with the finger printer after xx amount of time ( I set mine for 30 minutes ) but!!!!! What he has.. When he turns his display off and back on, he has to swipe to open it. Like a typical unlock, after 30 minutes though, his will require a finger print.
now with mine, after I finger print it, I turn the display back on and its just ON. I don't like that because of butt dialing or any other issues. I want to be able to swipe to open, after 30 minutes finger print.
We played with his today trying to find where he made those settings and he can't find it now.
ARGGG!! this is so annoying, lol
COME ON!!! Is everyone confused as well?? Are we all in the twilightzone?
lol ttt
really? no one knows the answer to this?

WRONG!
Anyone else?
look.. It's this easy.
On his GS5. when he powers off his screen with the sleep button, and turns it right back on, he has to swipe to unlock. But every 30 minutes, he has to use his finger print.
Get it?? so if I'm driving home from work and unlock my phone 3-7 times, I don't want to have to use a finger print to do it, but I do want to swipe to unlock.
but every 30 minutes of inactive use, it will automatically lock to a finger print.
His is set this way, how is this done!

I realize this is annoying to you but your response to someone trying to help you was rude.
I also don't see anywhere other than the lock screen settings to manage your security settings. Mine also works like your friends, seemingly by default. The only thing I can suggest is to change the security to swipe and then back to fingerprint. Maybe it's some kind of glitch you found.

What I'm asking seems harder to find then a noob trying to root his phone. It is frustrating. It's a basic feature and I'd love to have it
Hello,
Go to lockscreen setting and set the lock automatically time to 30 mins. Also you will find an iption below stating lock instantly with power button, disable that option and you are done. Your phone will lock to fingerprint oly after 30 minutes of inactivity

Still not helping.. Again...
When I shut my screen off with the power button and turn it back on, it just turns on without any swiping needed. After 30 minutes finger print is needed.. But I want to have to swipe to unlock my phone, finger print within 30 minutes!!

This is how I feel right now
I'm on XDA forums, not some kiddy site and we can't figure this out.
someone mentioned it was a bug, maybe that is true? But I would love to see if someone can confirm this. Is it a bug. Is it simply NOT possible?
Do people understand what I'm saying?
It's not an app. He literally just bought the phone that day! He still talks about it with me all the time. I laugh at how the genius's here can't figure this thing out.
I mean.. Maybe I start a thread, "What do you use to unlock your phone"
I can't see people using fingerprint EVERYTIME to just open the phone for a second. It takes too long.
I think most people just don't even use the fingerprint option and thats why this thread is lacking any replies.
I use fingeprint all the time. I have looked at all my settings and cant find any options to set swipe as temporary lock screen.
I wish I could as I would like that option too. However I dont think that fingerprint takes too long. I just swipe my thomb and the phone opens.
Your problem sounds like something is preventing the phone from even locking. I had a similar issue on my Galaxy S4. There's an app called Swann View Plus that I would use for viewing our cameras at work. For some reason, whenever I opened it, clicked back to home, and then locked the screen, when I woke up the phone I would not have to swipe to unlock, it would just be there at the home screen.
Now I have the same app on my Galaxy S5 and it doesn't do that, however I would look towards some kind of app causing this issue. Wipe your device to factory and check to see if it is still doing the same thing as it is now, or if it does as your friend's does which is also what mine does.

[HOWTO] Disable double tap to wake/unlock LG G3

Hello folks! For those who want to disable the option "double tap to wake/unlock" on LG g3 for any reason, in my situation the phone ever got the screen on when I accidentally tap the screen, that was draining my battery, now I found an app that can disable this option. It's called "Any Cut" you can find it in play store for free, create a shortcut for the "Knock On" apk and there you can disable this option. (But it still working if you use knock code to unlock).
Why not use a knock code. 4 knocks to unlock, my phone never comes on by itself not once.

Well, I think the problem is with the quick circle case, it works with a magnetic point that auto-activate the double tap to unlock. It's the same case as if you use knock code, double tap activate itself and for now I haven't found a solution if you are using the circle case. But even you don't double tap the circle the screen turns on?

[Q] Smart Lock enabled but temperamental in Lollipop / N910FXXU1BOC3

So after a bit of digging around and research, I managed to find and enable Smart Lock. For those of you who didn't know, it's hidden under Security > Trust Agents. After you've enabled, a new 'Smart Lock' menu appears at the bottom of the Security settings menu where you can manage your Smartlock features. Interestingly, it also features the new 'on-body detection'.
So I set it up about 3 days ago but it doesn't always work for me and I'm questioning if it works at all. My lock screen is set to re-enable after 10 minutes of inactivity so it may just be that I logged in during this time and thought that it may be working. I have 3 differen't ways of using smart lock, all of which are enabled: 1= Bluetooth devices including my Moto 360 which is always connected 2=Location, my home address and 3=On-body detection.
But yeah, as I say, it doesn't seem to be working as 90% of the time, I still have to enter my pin to access my phone. Anyone else tried this or willing to test it out? I'm running the first N910FXXU1BOC3 release from Netherlands/Samsung Experience stock.
bumpy - Anyone!?
Went out of the country and decided to try it out, was working great, but here and there I noticed that the phone gets unlocked in the pocket on second day of using this feature, my pictures and music folder has been deleted, I suspect that it happened accidentally in the pocket... Don't have any other explanation. I would avoid this feature while traveling or if you have to pull out phone quite often.
I'm also having the same issue, mine doesn't work when using Smart lock with my Moto 360, it keeps asking for my finger print to unlock...
I have used On-Body Detection and I can say that it worked great from my point of view. One thing to mention, i don't keep my phone in the pocket of my pants, always pocket of my jacket so did not have any issues with unlocking by itself and performing random operations.
But on BOC3 i did notice that the phone was constantly awake and one of the things i tried was disabling on-body detection i can see now that the wakelock issue was resolved and i'm getting a estimated 3 Days left on 80% battery. From my point of view this is more important that unlocking the phone easier
And regarding the trusted devices part and pairing with a smartwatch, i don't see the security benefit of that as the Bluetooth range is quite big. From a security point of view, trusted devices based on a Bluetooth link is not a good idea.
Its not working at all for me with 'Trusted Devices' - I use my Motorola 360 as a trusted device and it all confirms its set up. The only change it actually makes though is that when I wake up my phone, I have to swipe up to access my pin entry screen. Whereas if I disable smart lock, I get straight to the pin entry screen! This was a completely clean flash of BOC5 (Lux) all data, system, cache, etc was wiped and formatted before install through ODIN.

Are you guys sure that you're using the feature correctly?
Swiping from the little lock icon on the bottom of the screen, brings back your specified secure lockscreen. It is a way to secure your phone again, even if a trusted device or other set conditions for Smart Lock are met.
Swiping from anywhere else on the screen should unlock the phone without any security checks.
Works 100% of the times for me.
Check out this video I made to explain it better:
Smart Lock works awesome on my phone. I have my truck's bluetooth as a trusted device and I set up my home as a trusted location. Both work flawlessly but one thing I had to do was add an additional location for my home along with the preset "Home" location I had set up in Maps a long time ago. It wouldn't work until I manually added the 2nd home location.
It's a great feature.

It's just not intuitive. I didn't think to swipe outside the lock ring.
Is it possible ty by-pass unlock screen completely, when in "trusted zone"? Without root.
I'm currently using KNOX and have lockscreen disabled.
If I enable lockscreen (to check its features etc), to disable it again I would have to delete my KNOX container.

I suppose it's a matter of personal preference, I like the idea of being able to quickly secure my screen without, for example, disconnecting my BT earphones. Plus, it's more difficult to aim for the little lock icon than to actually swipe in the middle of the screen.
I am not sure about your question as I don't use the KNOX container, sorry! It sounds though as a security measure that is not possible to bypass. But I could be wrong.

Still it's the one main feature I have been waiting for with lollipop which I'm glad I have now!
iridaki said:
Are you guys sure that you're using the feature correctly?
Swiping from the little lock icon on the bottom of the screen, brings back your specified secure lockscreen. It is a way to secure your phone again, even if a trusted device or other set conditions for Smart Lock are met.
Swiping from anywhere else on the screen should unlock the phone without any security checks.
Works 100% of the times for me.
Check out this video I made to explain it better:

Brilliant, it does work! It was purely me swiping up from the lock icon like you say! Doesn't seem very intuitive but I'm just glad it's working! I owe you a beer!

How to double tap to sleep without require to enter password instead of fingerprint?

I tried nova launcher with tap to sleep app, but every time reopen the phone it will require me to enter the password again.
I think this is a new marshmallow feature. If a third party app locks phone, it requires password. What happens if you manually lock or let time out.

Screen Lock Pro by Prahallad has a setting to bypass security. There is a free app by the same Dev but I haven't tried it.
Once installed you can link Nova's double tap setting to it.
Try screen off and lock app

This ^.
It's the only app I've found that doesn't cause the pin lock screen to show the next time you unlock.

Hi
Thanks for the pointer, I tried the free version of the app, and setup my Nova's double-tap gesture to use Screen Lock shortcut, I am able to lock the screen but unable to wakeup w/ a fingerprint. Is there something special you had to do?
Thanks in advance

Does this app really lock the phone or it just shutdown the screen until the phone unlock itself on its own?

It just turn the screen black until it lock itself. Takes about 3-4s. I know the developer wrote there 10s but it only takes 3-4s on s7e. You know it when the AOD comes on etc etc...
As of now, from what I can tell there is no way to use an app or double tap to lock the screen without requiring a pin for a non rooted phone. Apps that turn off the screen but don't lock the phone isn't really an answer.

It is an answer though. You just have to tweak the settings in the security section so the phone locks immediately. There is still a 2 sec delay but to get to lock the screen with a double tap again and get to unlock with touch ID it's fine. It costs a little over $3 though.... which isn't much but is on the steep side for such a single purpose app. There is a marshmallows touch ID workaround setting in it as explained which merely turns the display blank (although for me the edge thing is still visible) then after a really short delay the screen actually turns off and AOD turns on. With the system settings set right it actually locks securely the moment AOD turns on. Max 2 sec delay. No one's gonna get a chance to get in your phone that quick.:good:
So, I did come across this same issue, and it seemed to have started for me when I applied the May Security Update. It happened on my Note 5 and my S7 Edge. But when I applied the July security patch to my Note 5, double tap to lock WITHOUT a pin next login actually worked again, not so on my S7 Edge, after applying. Havent had enough time to research and dig, but doesn't make sense working on 1 and not the other when both are 6.01, both on July security patch, both Verizon models, and both use Nova Prime. Has had me stumped since May....
Sorry. Original post placed in forum for wong device.

Any app to turn s10+ screen off?

I know guys, there are a ton. But so far I found only two kinds:
- Some completely block your phone, not allowing you to unlock with face or fingerprint.
- Some -idk why- turn off the screen and randomly turn it on inmediatly after. This doesn't happen evertime, but it's a problem cos if you have smartlock activated then the screen is on and phone in unlocked...
I just want a way to imitate the power button single tap function. I don't like pressing physical buttons, I use a gesture to turn the screen off before putting it inside my pocket. And yesterday I pocket-dialed two people...
Nova has a double tap to sleep function, and greenify used to have a short-cut to the same thing.

I have previously used screen Lock pro. It's not working correctly with the s10+, I have sent a video of the problem to the developer & he says that he will have support for our phones quickly. I will let you know as soon as I am notified

Thanks :fingers-crossed:
I use Gravity Screen Pro. It has a pocket sensor setting, turn screen off/on by proximity, screen on/off by motion, fingerprint unlock, etc.
Either Gravity Screen or KinScreen. I have premium for both but have been using KinScreen for the past few years as it was stable than Gravity Screen, but I haven't used Gravity Screen's latest version either.

I'll have to look at KinScreen, although I've had zero problems WITH Gravity Screen on my S9.

So i initially tried using Nova double tap gesture. It would turn the screen off but a second later it would go to the lock screen. Now i use Good Lock by Samsung and i actually like it a lot. In Good Lock go to the the "Family" tab - (no idea why it's called this) and then select One Hand Operation +.... I created a Small Right handle that turns the screen off when i slide it. Works great and i have yet to activate it by accident.

My experience with these apps is that they fail sometimes and I just don't want to have my phone turning on inside my pocket, I think it's risky.

Yes, I looked for it and it's not on some regions. And it's not in mine. I'll try to find the apk.

What region are you in? Weird, because it's an official Samsung App... let me know if you can't find it and i can post the apk for you... Also, make sure it's the 1.0.00.46 version, as they just updated it to work with Pie.
I also am desperate for this feature. Tried all of the apps and all of them go to the lock screen for some reason. I contacted a couple of developers but idk if they can do anything. Tried the one hand gestures and it does work but the thing is I still prefer double tap to lock instead of those swipe gestures. I think this feature should be natively supported like on almost every other android phone.

And be aware that there is a Good Lock in Play Store but it's not the same app. Like someone else said, get the one in Galaxy Store.
Use edge feature and download softkey from galacy store just slide over and press button to lock phone

I use Nova for that: ||>>>Gestures & Inputs>Home button>Screen lock(uncheck "only on main home...")
then go to 'Gestures' below, click "Swipe up" and also check "Screen lock" Now, I use 'Full screen gestures" for nav bar already, so that Nova gesture setup is not messing up the nav bar gestures but rather compliments it. Example: I have some app open on the screen and swiping it up(w/o Nova) in the center would bring me to the Home screen(and that is being mimic w/Nova too) then the second 'swipe up' locks the screen. Simple, quick double 'swipe up' from any app does the trick, if you are on the home screen already then you just swipe it up only once.
I also use full screen gestures. The problem is not the gesture. The problem is that I need an app to turn off the screen. There are like a hundred apps that do that. But they all have one of the two problems I said before.
I'll look for the good lock in a bit. I have to find the apk.
"there was a network or server error. Try again later. The mapper function returned a null value"
I'm getting this error when I open good lock. Apparently it's not supposed to be use in Argentina. I'll try Nova launcher now.
