It took me about a month of deciding to get one (updating from HTC One m7).
Just say "F it" and buy one. There's no point being the richest man in the graveyard

Not really. It has its flaws such as Touchwiz but it's still one of if not the best Android phone around today. I guess in a few months the Note 5 will be released.

True! I'm just a click before the purchase! I was thinking to get the exynos version but i guess the snapdragon ROMs are better than the exynos right? However is the difference noticeable?

Just my opinion though... If i were you I would probably wait for Note 5, but if you can't wait and you are eager? then try to stay away from the Korean versions (no offense - for Koreans) and buy the phone. I personally own the Korean Version which is a pain for me due to the "Olleh Logo and apps" and little to no custom rom available. All this was my fault since i was in a hurry in getting the less expensive deal. But yet i lived with it and now loving the Phone, I also own the non edge S6 which i used for two days and eventually giving it to my wife, Since i am not used to a bit smaller phone compared to note 4. But yes try to wait a bit more for the note 5.

Is there an official ETA for the note 5? I could wait a month or two.. Also i'm not willing to spend more than 500€ .. so i guess i should go for the Note 4

As of now there's no specific Release Date, But i assume somewhere August. Google search yielded sprouting links, rumors etc. about note 5, But there is no actual Date. Anyways when there's A "1, 2 & 3" series, then there will always be "4, 5 and so on..." So it will come...

Buy the note edge instead. ...
One of a kind.

Lags like crazy, camera is not good in low light especially with moving objects. That's all I got. But at least for me, I'm doubting whether I'll get another Samsung device purely because of the lag.
Supposedly the S6 has a stripped down touchwiz as well, but it still lags.

Small hands. Don't buy this phone if you have small hands :b
Seriously, no flags at all. Kitkat is the most flawless, fastest and optimized firmware to the date. Lollipop is getting better with BOE2 build and it WILL be better with 5.1.1. Also you have interchangeable batteries and microSD support. Go, grab one, you'll never regret.

I see as though the note 5 will come with an irreplaceable battery and memory. That's very very discouraging to be me, unless s6 sales cause them to rethink their strategy am not going to be upgrading to note 5 from my current note 4.

My experience with the international snapdragon version says completely otherwise! I think your is clogged with bloatware hence the lag! Plus also quality control is different for different countries. Like I know the SM-N910S version to be not so good and someone here has posted on the same. I went out of my way to get the International Snapdragon version because I had heard wonders about it and now that I have it, it is also doing wonders. Just visit the Note 4 battery thread and you will see what I am talking about.

It's strange that people's experiences with this (and other) phones vary so much. I believe it all comes down to subjectiveness, perception and what you're expecting from your device. Sometimes when I read a thread on someone's perception of a phone on XDA I think "what?!, you've got to be kidding!".
Personally speaking, after owning most of the current and past flagships, the Note 4 stands amongst the best. It takes some work to freeze apps and get battery performance to a good level but it's allround performance, camera quality, build quality, QHD screen taken into account etc, it's easily one of the best around at this moment in time and with a custom kernel, it's very snappy. Is it the perfect phone? no, not by far but then no others are today and the N4 is close to the top of the pile.

i think it's bigger than others, but i like it

Yes, it lags! On both UI and games!
And also, it takes extremely long for uldates to get released! But whatever you do dont get 910H! Check which version gets updates first!
And its funny, my note n7000 and this note are voth full of scratches! Luckily scratches on my note 4 are barely seen on normal conditions but my N7000 was awful! But my nexus 4 and sensation didnt have scratches! (After i droped my sensation there was one on the screen and back of my nexus 4 was full of scratch but only on back)
and also the chrome on the edges gets worn off with case! Otherwise great phone! You could also wait for note 5! But its gonna be expensive as hell, atmeast for a few months!
But the screen, if you don't care about purple smudges its AMAZING! When i compare it to my monutor its like watching 2 diffrent movies but it might be because my momitor is terrible

I hear you and what you are saying makes perfect sense, I can't argue with that. Not everyone uses their phones alike which accounts for the differences we experience. But I tell you this Note 4 I have is really God sent, the only other phone that could do what it's currently doing was my first Nokia phone ever or maybe it's because I am in a region with superb signal reception, I realized the Note 4 is extremely sensitive to the mobile network signal power and impacts greatly on battery life. I can't wait to install a custom rom into it and really see it's potential.

Well I kinda agree about the sluggishness partially but not totally to the extent that i ended up complaining about how note 4 lags. Mine does not lag like crazy but some rare occurrence of what i call the "stutter Effect" other than that it is fast (btw mine is the exynos Korean n910k model) handles pretty well with all apps. I guess it's down to every user's taste which varies. I have put both side by side the S6 (non-edge model) and the note 4 and found that s6 is slightly faster but that i think was because of the striped down TW and probably the latest hardware etc... Anyways it's just my thought.

Note 5 will be announced at IFA 2015 in September and released in October like every note before it

Fuzzi99, If that's the case? then i might probably give my note 4 to my wife and get the "5!" Seriously speaking, I will keep my note and maybe if "Mr. Temptation" will try to get in my way, then i might be tempted to break my piggy bank and purchase the Note 5... Interesting News by the way.

Anyone else concerned about lag (touch wiz)?

Phone Arena's head to head comparison show that the iPhone and G3 launch apps faster. I can't believe Samsung puts in the best phone processor, but had no care for the end user of a fluid experience, and appears to have put in zero work in making touch wiz faster. Any thoughts?
If that's the case, then I'm sticking to my m8. I couldn't stand that on the note 3.

I was running some tests on a HP Gen8 server sometime back, it was taking time and sort of freezing a few times.
It had 512GB of RAM, quite a few Xeon processors and tons of other stuffs. It was still "lagging" in many tests.
Do you think I should take this server out and put Moto X, as apparently it doesn't lag.
Samsung phones do a lot more than any other phone. There are many options that you can use in Samsung phone that you won't ever find it a simple phone. And hence there is a tradeoff. It's the law of nature. The very idea of getting a Samsung phone is that you are not getting a normal bare-bone stock device. It's has bells and whistles. It your objective is to have a phone with bare minimum features, get some other phone.
If you get a Samsung phone you might see delay of 0.5 sec for some basic thing, not that I ever care about them. Not it's for your to decide whether you are interested in that half-second of time or do you think those added functionality is more important to you. Just a simple trick like slide to call/SMS is such amazing in a Samsung device.
i cant stand my G3. note 3 didnt lag as much as this pos
Meh, it's a demo model, we don't know which processor it had in it, and it's running a pre-production unit of the new touch wiz. That, and half those tests were bunk, email on the G3 had 2 emails, the note 4 had about 100, same with Gallery. I'll wait for a real comparison before I even look at these speed tests.

I agree with that. My G3 definitely has more lag than the Note 3 I had before it.
Some people say the G3 has less lag when you use the ART runtime, but I have a few apps that are not ART compatible so can't test that.
I doubt the Note 4 will be worse than the G3 in terms of lag. I'll test out when the Note is in stores. If it IS slower then I just won't buy it. Simple.

I seriously wish I would have kept my One M8 instead of going to the G3.
But I get 'new, shiny syndrome' sometimes. Lol
On the other hand I'm displeased enough with the G3 that I doubt I'll regret getting rid of it.

me too cant wait for note 4!!
I wish I could have waited for a note4 but my upgrade was burning a hole in my pocket and I picked up the GS5 in April. I love this phone but I want the big screen. I would gladly trade my Sprint GS5 and a Sprint GS3 for this bad boy.
Samsung finally learned to lighten up TouchWiz a bit.
My S5 is completely lag-less. At least as good as the Nexus 4 or S4 mini with CM11, i had before.
Note 4 has a higher resolution but also more power.
(Only 'lag' may be the Home button, because its waiting for a second press (S Voice) - but you can disable that.)

What i 'dislike' most is the camera. Everything else is great.
The camera is not bad (and still one of the best) but its not as superior as Samsung made me / us believe.

I have a note 2 on Verizon. I think that as an expensive premium device, even for all these "extra features" like you guys say, there is NO EXCUSE for lag! It has the absolute latest phone processor in it, and they even developed their own. What's the point if everything lags and is slow anyway?
My HTC One Max is just as fast as the M8 and MUCH faster than note 3 with metal all around not just on sides and BoomSound speakers are as good as the ones on M8 not single tiny speaker on the back like Note 4.

I am sure you go to every thread in this community and you will find at least 1thread discussing about slow sluggish and lags.
Our human tendency is we want note never satisfied with what we've already got
Emotion Revolution coming soon on Note 4 (Aosp,Miui,Touchwiz, &Nadia kernel) I am ready to note!! Are you ???
Well I rooted my Note 3 and installed some apps like Seeder, Lag Fix and an app which auto restarts my phone once a day, closing all background apps. It has pretty much eliminated all the lag except the Gallery. For that I installed Nexus Gallery from the store. Still I may think twice before upgrading to another Samsung device.
It is being reported by users, that the TMo OTA update that is being pushed out today solves the recent apps button lag. Nice to see Samsung react to an issue and push out an update.
Now I just get to wait for AT&T to release the update and all will be good.

If you're thinking about the S6 Edge...

I'm going to throw out a few brief observations here for those who are thinking about the S6 Edge which I picked up at Tmo. I'm currently running that device along with the Moto Maxx.
I missed that bigger battery the day after I bought the Edge and it died. It took me a second to figure out what had happened, I had kinda forgot to pay much attention to the battery symbol... Long story short I've become accustomed to making two days with the Maxx and the Edge will give you one if you don't turn it on, otherwise it will be less. lol No, I'm not kidding. Buy into the Edge and you will likely need to plug in during the day. And yes I've read the reports of people who are doing much better than that but don't by in. My guess is lighter users will make the day most days, medium users will need to plug in somewhere for a few (thank you fast charging) or barely scrape by, heavy users will hang themselves.
The S6 display just flat looks better. I've had the phone since release which is only a week but in that time I've had 3 people comment on the display and no one has ever said one word about the display on the max to me and I've had it since they rolled it out in Brazil. It isn't just the curve, the display is stellar. Easily the best I have seen on a smartphone.
Another thing that flat works better is the camera. Pictures pretty much turn out on the S6 without any effort whatsoever. The camera opens up instantly and can take pictures faster than a person can click. Those pictures stand a ridiculously high chance of being in focus with reasonable color balance and the like. Just excellent, if it wasn't nearly as good as it is it will still be a big improvement over the Maxx.
The performance in the GUI during daily use is very similar to the Maxx. In fact despite what you might read the S6 will hiccup occasionally in the GUI, more so than the Maxx. Yes, I'm saying the Maxx is the smoother device as I type this. I don't believe this will hold out over time as I've owned all but the S5 among the Galaxy devices and they all hugely benefited from getting on the debloated roms.
They say Touchwiz has been slimmed down and it turns out this means that TW has 4 more installed applications than it did on the S5. When you're using the word hundreds to quantify the total number of system apps it cant be good and so it is here, the whole slimmed down Touchwiz thing Sammy has been selling, ummm, nah. It is improved and I actually left it on my phone for 45 minutes or so but honestly the only reason TW doesn't get kicked to the curb by a user is they don't know better.
If you made it this far you've likely read about the nice build quality and this is no lie, sitting next to a cool-aid device it looks to be the more expensive piece of hardware. Sitting next to our phone it evokes a different response to me because they don't appear to be on the same mission. The Edge is like a beautiful woman that you want to get your hands on but you may not want to live with her every day. She is pretty as can be but a little fragile and she has some traits like sides which are so thin they can make your fingers sore before a youtube video is finished which detract from her beauty. The Maxx on the other hand isn't as pretty but she is not so bad either and a lot easier to live with. You might describe it as the woman you want to marry.
So those are my impressions of what stands out enough to mention after a week, obviously this is a lot of subjective information and I think that's the most important thing that comes to my mind when I think of these devices. I still have the device before the Maxx sitting here and it is exactly a year old. Going through the motions of doing its thing in an average day it performs subjectivly every bit as good as the Maxx does. Or the S6. I'm thinking the days of getting a new phone and thinking "Wow! OMG!! This is so much better!" are over. I'm a pathetic old man now and I can afford to play because I don't have debt and almost no bills. I'm thinking the younger version of myself that couldn't say the same would skip the S6.
I'm on the fence on the Edge, I have a few days left to either turn it in and move forward with the Maxx until the fall releases or keep it. I have to give cred to Motorola for producing a device which can stand in and punch with Sammy on their next gen device.

Thanks for the write up. I've been curious about this phone. I too think I am too used to the battery. My only two complaints about the Turbo is the wifi and the camera. I don't think they are big enough to go back to TW though.
Thank you for your feedback, I personally don't envy anything on s6, specs wise, but i like the glass back, like you said, there are for different kind of audience.
Tldr;
I have both the Turbo and and S6 Edge. They are very different phones.
It is silly comparing them, as it is very subjective and depends on your individual needs...
Turbo has much better battery.
The S6 has a better screen (by far), better camera, and is definitely faster. But has TW and MUCH shorter battery life.
No right / wrong answer.
So here's why I'm going with the s6 over the turbo. And it might sound silly but the ecosystem is one of my top reasons. If I want a, let's say case for my turbo. You will find a few. Most from cheap company's and it might be some what attractive. If you want it for the s6. Skys the limit. Walk in to best buy and have a whole section of the store just for the s6. I don't even think you could find something for the turbo at best buy. There are other reasons of course but this is one no one addresses.
And honestly. The build quality of the turbo is not that good. The cheap painted plastic around the rim. The loss power and volume buttons. The moto symbol that is just held in by some weak adhesive. The creaking back cover. I WANTED to love that phone. I just couldn't =(
I was not trying to compare the phones per se, just offering some observations for those holding one in the hand and thinking about making a move to the other. I find these things interesting because these kinds of thoughts from an ordinary user about the things that stand out are a different angle than that from a pro review.
I didn't mention the ecosystem because I think most people who surf this site and are considering trading a fairly new phone for the next thing are probably sluts when it comes to phones (yes, count me in) and they already know that the S6 will have a lot of available accessories and developer support.

Id you buy Verizon version no, and you never have a aosp rom in exynos device, be aware of that.
No, an ASOP rom may come, one did for the exynos S4 variant as an example, it just wont be very good lol This is one of the good things about having a phone like the S6, Sammy sells so many that the user base is huge and the development for the galaxy line has been very solid for each of the iterations. I don't think there is any reason to expect otherwise here? Still I agree with your point anyways, AOSP if it comes at all will be a long ways out and probably not as good as the stock based roms when not on snapdragon.
I'm not sure what you're asking or saying about Verizon? If you're asking if I am using them, no. I'm on Tmo, I own the Maxx and was using it on both AT&T and Tmo. Its unlikely I would use Verizon and certainly I would not buy one of their locked bootloader devices. I think the folks that read here are for the most part already aware that Verizon and AT&T S6s have locked bootloaders.

Even I recognize the changes and I dislike Samsung.

CM isn't the only game out there. Don't get confused with CM vs. AOSP.
I don't get the hype for S6 or S6 Edge with the internet people when some of my customers brought their 3-4 days old s6 edge to trade with Droid Turbo just because of its good battery life and high end specs. We don't actually need to use cases for the Droid Turbo as we need it for any samsung or htc flagship. Our phones are for everyday usage, not made to put gently on the table.
ps : any phone with its manufacturer software will run miles better than any Cyanogenmod release official and unofficial.

I haven't been on Exynos since an S4 I imported in from South America to give an octa core a try. No question the Snapdragon variants of the S4 had an easier row to hoe and we on the Exynos saw much less development although more than the average phone. I did not say it will, I said "it may" and you could be right. It isn't really meaningful to this conversation but I doubt I would install an AOSP rom if it were available. I always had far better luck with stock based roms on the Galaxy devices. Faster, more stable, less bugs, etc.

Honestly iI will stay with turbo until 2nd gen of turbo comes out. I have faith Motorola will make it much better than galaxy s6 and the ffirst gen. Also the s6 and s6 edge both use Samsung's own cpu which is not as supported as a Snapdragon.

Not supported as a Snapdragon means little on Verizon. It doesn't make a difference if you cannot root and unlock the bootloader.

I should've been more specific. What I was saying is that most app developers develop for qualcomm snapdragon line of processors. The s6 should face the same problem as the nexus 9 because they use lesser used chip which gives limited apps. GTA won't play on nexus 9 because of chip and either developers will have to put effort into making exynos versions of their apps(which is their choice and if they will benefit will decide this)or stay in the snapdragon highway and not risk/waste anyhting.

Most app developers don't target a specific CPU unless its a root app, and then that just refers back to my original comment.
I doubt there is anything specific stopping GTA from working on the Nexus9. Did you try sideloading it?
Or are you referring to something like this?
http://androidforums.com/threads/nexus-9-bugs-app-compatibility-issues-discussion.879365/
http://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus5/comments/2mmz66/question_gta_vice_city_and_lollipop/
That appears to be more of a Lollipop issue to me, considering that the Nexus 7 was also reported not to work in that thread and a couple other snapdragon devices were mentioned in the second.

No vice city does work for me but San Andrea's doesn't and many reviews on either the s6 or n9 state that app compatibility is ok but a few won't work because of different processors. Most app developers develop for snapdragon cpus as exynos has only reached certain areas and is not the default cpu in the galaxy line.. You can search reviews and many users experience this problem.
I feel like we will never agree on this, but I will drop this off here for your perusal:

Better than a Note 4?

I love my AT&T Note 4...it's a great thing! It is! But root is *still* not possible. I know people are working feverishly at it and I don't necessarily think it won't happen but I really miss it. Sure, I am one of those rare dudes that use the stylus multiple times a day, as well as all the multitasking/splitscreen stuff, but I can't run some apps that I used to rely on heavily when I took the leap of faith to the Note. One MAJOR thing that bugs the every loving piss out of me is the fact that I can't flash a custom ROM! I know temporary root has been achieved but, from what I understand, that's not good enough to flash a custom recovery and ROM, AND I can't use my root apps like SSHTunnel.
Anyway...blah blah...Seeing this phone makes me want to toss the Note 4 on eBay. Yes, the screen is lame but the CPU is epic and it's much more open.
I might be down to let the 4 go but there are a few hangups: That invite system. How the HELL am I supposed to get an invite? Another hangup is that screen...it's "only" 1080p...how does it look? Is it a good piece of hardware? I'm sure I'll miss the 4's screen but if the 1080 screen looks good overall, I might be able to deal due to the hackability and the CPU.
Overall, I'm just looking for some feedback and overall impressions of the phone when it becomes more widely available. Think it's a worthy upgrade from the Note 4?
I had used Samsung Galaxy Phones starting from the S2 > S3 > Note 2 > Note 3 and then moved to the Oneplus One.
Here are the key differences :
1. If you have a taste for the saturation of the AMOLED display, you will miss it. The Deep Blacks are spectacular on the Samsung Flagships (Ive seen the note 4 too) However i was pleasently surprised by the Clarity of the Oneplus One. The pentile matrix of the AMOLED displays on the galaxy range does leave room for more clarity and the Oneplus Display though not as saturated was as bright and it was more crisp/clear. Today after 8 months of using the OPO i will not go back to an AMOLED unless they do away with the Pentile matrix (I am yet to sample a QHD AMOLED display though)
2. OPO ran CM 11/12 vs Touchiwiz /custom roms on The Note 3. Although i liked some features of Touchwiz , the overall look was not to my taste. Custom Roms though available come with thier own bugs. Having used the OPO and also having liked CM early on i was happy for the native support. I am a tinkerer, run a lot of root apps, Hence i loved the OPO where i dont lose my warranty on rooting/unlocking. Also CM/Oxygen are far less bloated than other ROMs hence I enjoyed snappier performance and better battery life compared to the Note 3.
3. I did like the oneplus one in terms of its looks but the note 4 looked better. i chose the oneplus because i could just trade my one year old Note 3 and get the OPO at no extra cost. the OP2 looks better, has a metal frame and better styleswap covers. I personally really liked the sandstone black back though, but that is a matter of taste. At less than half Price of the Note 4 the OPO was a steal.
4. The OP2 has 4gb of DDR4 Ram, so i expect better performance than anything else out there. I however do not game much, or use too many apps simultaneously so i dont forsee a heating issue for me using the SD810.
5. The Note 4 Camera is most likely better than the OP2. But this is just speculation at this point.
To sum up : The OP2 is newer hardware, root friendly, bloat free, will likely have good developer support. It does lack MicroSD expansion, NFC,quick charge. If you want to experiment with a new device offering near pure android, at a very reasonable price - i would vote for the OP2.

This is not the fault of Samsung or your Note 4, but your carrier. Get a phone through Verizon or AT&T and be prepared to be punished with a locked bootloader.
Im also in a fix.Im also using Note 4 sd variant but I haven't rooted it due to knox crap.Confused coz i love the Note 4 screen but I see full hd screen with sd810 as an advantage.

Awesome reply. Thanks for the feedback!
I'm still a bit on the fence about it...good to hear the screen is good, though. That's one thing I am COMPLETELY spoiled with...the Note 4's screen is simply unparalleled.
There is nothing about the Note 4 that I hate and I'd truly miss the SmartPen...I'm one of the few that actually use the thing every day. I also love the multitasking functionality and use it all the time.
But, the "don't listen too loud" nanny every time I plug headphones in, the "how to clear app defaults" every damn time I set one, the COMPLETELY random battery life (some days, after my 12hr shift, it'll be at 40-45%...other days it'll be at 5%...you never know...) and, obviously, the lack of root and the EPIC OP2 amongst other things all add up to me considering making the switch. The fact that the Note 4 goes for 400-450 on eBay doesn't hurt things, either. My Note 4 is pristine. I even have all the original box/papers/etc that it came with.
I'm going to think about it for a little while and we'll see. Right now I'm thinking I'm going to do it.
Oh...and...how does one go about getting a OP2 invite?

Sprint version had root almost a year ago . It's a shame they do that in 2015 but when your at the top at&t and verizon you can do whatever you want. Highly doubt it get root at this point most people probably got another device. Hope im wrong tho

I'm not begging or entering any stupid contests to get a 1+2 invite. I'm the customer and OnePlus wants my business, not the other way around. If an invite doesn't fall in my lap, I'll get something else from a company ready to do business with me.
Agreed. I definitely don't like the business model. I'm not JUST holding out of a OP2...I'm VERY intrigued by the upcoming Nexus...I adored my Nexus 4. Had that thing for a long ass time. The OP2 is very Nexus-ish...I just don't get why they don't just sell the stupid things...why be difficult about it?

the best phone is the one with the best final user experience which is much more about software than hardware. hence your question is almost answered LOL, a phone which is either impossible or difficult to root and unlock is never ever better than a perfectly set up phone rom, kernel. launcher and root app wise. having said that the only remaining criteria are: display size to footprint ratio, weight, design ( should not be ugly ) and basic specs like camera memory cpu ram and battery life. those depend of course on personal preference as well as personal usage patterns.
so if you do not need 128GB or more memory and if you do not need the pen under all circustance etc. etc. the OP2 is far better because it's customizable to the edge and the hardware specs are in parts better, in parts equal and in parts not available, so what counts is what are your priorities.
Op if you rely on the stylus pen like me, as I do a lot of typing. Then just stay with the n4. The n5 is also around the corner and am sure it will blow away the oneplus no doubt.
Applsung note 5 - no thank you
I know the Oneplus 2 has not removable battery or sd support but it's going to be at least half the price possibly more looking at pricing of s6 etc
64gb is just about enough for my needs and my note 4 stylus is a redundant piece for myself of course
Wow the ATT Note 4 still doesn't have official root yet, almost one year later ? WTF F. you ATT and Scamsung for allowing ATT to control you like that.
Just on principle alone, I'd ditch that Note 4 and pick up the OnePlus Two and the freedom to do what you want with your phone. Plus Oxygen OS will be way lighter and smoother than the god awful Windows 95 inspired Touchwizz.

This or the s7 edge?

I'm getting tired of the horrible camera from my note 3 and really bad build quality, so I'm thinking of getting a new flagship phone and pass my note to my girlfriend.
At the moment, I'm deciding between the nexus 6p and the newly released Galaxy s7 edge.
I used some AOSP roms on my Samsung and I fell in love with them, the ui was incredibly smooth and minimalistic, everything was flying except for the camera performance and poor battery life because somehow touchwizz had better drivers. I would really love a stock android rom on the premium body of the 6p, but I'm planning to use this phone for a long time, at least 3 years. So I was wondering if the s7 edge wouldn't be a better option, since it has better specs and should be more future proof.

Well on benchmarks the the new exynos and SD 820 both beat the SD 810
But given you want to use the phone for 3 years I would suggest get a phone with more updates and developer support so that it works flawlessly till you buy your next phone ( so IMO buy nexus)
As a prior N3 user I can tell you the 6p is actually easier to hold however reviewers are praising the Sedge over any other phablet for its pocketability and ease-of-use 1-handed.
The 6p is a big ugly block in my pocket and can be uncomfortable when sitting. Everything else about it is amazing though. With pie controls (and there are non-root apps that do this) 1-handing it is a breeze.
I would say if you value updates, rooting/custom roms and don't care for touchwhiz then go for the Nexus. I'm guessing since you're on XDA you do. Leave the locked down Samsung nightmare behind.
Thanks for all the replies guys, I decided to buy the nexus in the end.
Here's why: I will use it for at least 3 years, so the constant updates are a big plus. Also, even if it has lower specs then the s7, the software is much more optimized. No matter how fluid and smooth touchwiz has become, no Samsung in this world runs better then stock android on the latest nexus flagship.
And even if it has slightly lower specs then the s7, they are still more then enough for what I'm planning to use it for: Internet browsing, YouTube, Facebook, clash of clans and taking pictures (I read that the camera is great).
The reason I'll be using it this much is that the store I buy it from, here in Romania, offers the possibility to get 1 or 2 more years of warranty, aside from the 2 years the device already comes with. And if do I get extra warranty, it becomes premium warranty. This means: if my device breaks and needs to be sent for repair, they send a courier to my door to pick the product for me, free of charge and free shipping. And if they don't fix the device within 5 working days, I can get a full refund of the initial price. That's right, after let's say 3 years, when this phone will be worth around 200-300$ in used condition, I can get the full 570$ I initially payed, if they can't fix the phone.
I already did that with my nexus 10 after a year, then got enough money to get the note 3. My note still has 2 more years and a few months of warranty, in which time I'm 100% positive that it will eventually break.
The note goes to my girlfriend and I decided that I want a new phone, a premium one that I'll be using for a long time while I have the 4 years warranty.
Congratz! enjoy your Nexus 6p Bad Boy on XDA.
U have had all galaxy S line. Trade my note 5 for nexus 6p which was my first nexus phone. I can tell u that i never felt in love with a phone ao much like the nexus 6p. Even the note 5 was driving crazy with lag in app like fb, youtube etc.
I have 2 galaxy s7 edge on preorder tmobile bogo, But will most likely will be sell both. I already went to the store like 5time to play with the edge. I have tried to really like it but i dont. It feel like a toy. Nexus 6p is more mature looking. S7 is faster but nexus 6p stock android is way smoother. good to read all posts above, but need little help if you or someone could :
I am using Edge + for last 5 months and still waiting for MM to drop for my phone version
I am thinking to sell my edge + and buy 6P coz i love flashing roms and modifying system files
now what I have read everywhere, the screen is not better on 6P compare to edge +
camera software lags and can take time to save pictures if HDR is used (compare to edge + / Note 5)
starts lagging after the phone gets hot. or say the processor throttles down which I have never seen on my edge +
please tell me what above points are true or am I taking the right decision of selling Edge + for 6 P ?
sorry I can not see 6P in any mobile shop in my town, they sell but they don't have it on display....so I have to buy sealed pack without trying/using it first
I would appreciate if someone could help me take decision
Regards
I guess I'm too late, but I've owned both. And my answer would be S7 Edge without any question. I won't go into all the reasons since you already got the 6P. Definitely enjoy your device!

alright so its just the display which I will miss right ?
i am reading thread where many have complained about the pink/grey tint issues with the display and even after getting their phone replaced so many times, its still not perfect
I guess, its something I won't like because my edge+ screen is perfect
now I have to decide, if I want perfect screen then s7 edge or nexus 6P if I need rom development

alright so its just the display which I will miss right ?
i am reading thread where many have complained about the pink/grey tint issues with the display and even after getting their phone replaced so many times, its still not perfect

You probably will miss the display. Sammy has great displays - arguably the best in the business. I attribute this to the brightness of the screen more than anything else.
I think the pink/grey thing is definitely not a predominant issue with the majority of the 6Ps being shipped. Most of my family have 6Ps based on my recommendation, and none of them have had that issue. Neither have the ones I've seen at Best Buy, or the ones my friends and colleagues use. If it weren't for the vocal few here, I'd never have known the issue exists. In short: I doubt you'll have a problem, and if you do by all accounts I've read on Google's support, it has been stellar.
Also, the 6P screen is far from terrible. It's just not as bright as the S7's display. They're both AMOLED so they'll saturate colors, but both phones give you options on color correction.

thanks again my friend, I really appreciate your help !
I think i might not see color tint because most of the time I use my phone on 90% manual brightness and people who are complaining about the tint issue use their phone below 50% brightness, I think that is the time when tint is more noticeable ?
Also, 1 last question, do we also have so many variants of 6P ?
coz on my edge+ there are so many variants, different for all countries, many have got MM update already but I am still waiting because Sami hasn't dropped update for my variant yet
If I buy 6P, do I need to look for some special variant to buy online so all roms are available to flash ?
or any unlocked phone from local shop will do ?
thanks again

You're welcome. Glad to help.
I honestly don't know. I normally adjust my display manually: Under 40%-ish while I'm browsing in bed with the lights off. (It's blinding at 80% or more in a dark room.) I've had no issue on my screen under 50%, or with adaptive brightness on. Looks fine above 50% too. Brightness settings are not something I worry about messing with, so I adjust often. Other people seem to be a bit more OCD about the whole thing. They search for the perfect all-around brightness for them, and hate messing with it once they've found that spot. Personally, I don't understand that, but... to each their own.
No, nothing special. There are only 2 variants I think? I had to google for it. I came across this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus/comments/3omi6l/nexus_6p_us_vs_international_model/ So, if you live outside North America, get the international version. As far as I know, the factory images contain everything for both variants, and I would assume most ROMs do as well.

Want to buy note 4

Hello guys. İ want to buy note 4.
Whixh edition do you suggest?
Sdragon or exynos?
And can you tell me pros and cons for phone? İ read reviews buy i want real users feedback.
Do you suggest it for today? 2016 april.
Yes, I completely suggest it for today, in this time, especially the price is pretty cheap now.
Pros for me:
- Great camera in daylight, above average in low light
- Incredible display
- Superb call quality
- Very good built, though the metal edges will scratch in no time, but that's metal for you
- TouchWiz is okay-ish. Not bad, but not that good either, but with MM released things will get better I am sure
- Excellent battery backup, with MM
Cons:
- Samsung's shoddy update policy for different variants
- Camera in low light, can't compete in that level with nowadays phones like S7, Note 5 etc., but its still close
- Rear mounting speaker!
- Screen to body ratio
- Meh Fingerprint scanner
PS: You can go for either model, Exy or SD, both have very good support from XDA. I heard that Exynos is better for gaming, while SD is better for overall optimisation and battery life, can't be sure about that myself as I only have one variant, SD.
İ didnt understand update part. What about front camera?
İ am using nexus 5 , is it worth upgrade? And how much it cost now?

I don't use Front cam at all mate, so can't comment. Nexus 5? That's one of the hardware nightmarish phone I have ever owned, I can't even put both the phones in same sentence, no offence.
Note 4 32 gigs cost around 32-33k INR here, but very often it sells around 30k or something.
Then i will go for note 4. And there is on more same price phone galaxy s6. İ dont know s6 is good too or not. İ hrard battery life is bad on s6

Both snap and exynos are powerfull. But in fact, through a lot of benchmark, exynos is better than snap, but just alittle bit. I'm also use the exynos version too. If you want to play game, should buy snap version. And if u want something for work, exynos is great.
P/s: one more thing u should no, exynos version is cooler than snap, snap is too hot after using for a while, and the battery of exynos version also better than snap version. Hope that you buy the phone suit for u.

What do you mean exactly?? because im a happy owner of a nexus 5 for 2plus years now and i can tell you for sure that i wont replace this crude diamond not even for a future s15 edge or anything.
Now for our friend's question. as u can see i allready own a nexus 5 like you, and i bought a N910c (thats the exynos) about 2 months ago. I DIDNT got this as a replacement for nexus,as the matter of fact i use it without sim. anyway my previous samsung device was back in 2012 with the NOTE 10.1 wifi... well after this i swore to myself that i wont buy a samsung again. But here i am after 4 years breaking that promise with spending 400euros to a piece of.......... imnot going to analyse this, do a better research to have lower chances to regret a purchase.(not like me)
My personal advice is to do your self a favor and dont buy this device or perhaps any mobile device from that company. -not for the hardware but for the software.-
and for your info nexus 5 runs way smoother than the exynos. maybe the snapdragon would be a better choice if u insist buying the note

Shouldn't bother replying to a person who would prefer a decade old phone over a newer one, but still replying just so someone "new" and "uninformed" can actually see what Nexus 5 really is.
By nightmarish hardware I meant:
- It is one of the most awfully built device out there. Kudos LG.
- The call quality of the phone is awful, as well as the reception. I have never had a phone with as terrible reception as that, and please don't even bother wasting your time by saying I live in an industrial area or something where reception is poor, rather its very opposite.
- The display. No comments.
- The camera. No comments.
- The external speakerphone. No comments.
Shall I go on?
Nexus is Nexus because of its SOFTWARE ONLY, period, and no exception is Nexus 5.

I would say you should wait until the Note 6 or 7. Or whatever comes next.
This one is still very expensive, and will not get any support whatsoever from now on.
It's a good device, NOW, but it costs so much you could just buy a Nexus 6P for example.
Or a Z5, M10, whatever. You get the point.
BUT, if you are some fanboy, here goes nothing...
Sdragon:
+ Faster 3D performance, better for gaming basically.
+ More roms/kernels. (though none of them will be as complete as stock)
Exynos:
+ Better battery life
+ Faster 2D performance
+ Faster performance (single, multi core)
- Games have crap framerates, see below.
I picked Exynos because I rarely play games.
If you check comparisons on Youtube, it beats Snapdragon by miles in any task, except 3D.
Framerate: Like Asphalt got... 20 or something it's real console like (eww). Modern Combat is also around 25 or so.
Too bad games on Android cannot scale down to 1080p or 720p, there is absolutely no point in having such a huge resolution for a game.
Other points - affects all Note 4:
Screen protectors are hard to find, you have to buy these "full display protectors", because of the curved glass. Just buy it on eBay and you are good.
Do NOT spend too much on cases. I bought Spigen, I bought all kinds of fancy cases. And guess what? The cheapest eBay case is the best. Not even kidding.
Metal cases, even if ONLY the frame is metal/aluminium, WILL BLOCK GPS signal. Not kidding.
When buying a case, make sure it protects the camera bulge.
Cases should have a WIDE left hole on bottom, because the microphone there can be on two positions. Mine is on the right. (SM-N910C)
No updates. MM is the last, we all know that. Even MM will take months to arrive to people.
There is no Theme Store or any new features that came with S6 and so on.
Battery life is not the best, it's around 1 days.
Bonus, you can use extended batteries. But then you lose the thinness of the device, which helps a lot when you carry it around. I have a ZL 10k mAh pack with the belt clip, it's a hassle to use.
Rooting is out of question if you want warranty. And all my Samsung Galaxy/Note devices had issues within the two first years, so I suggest you don't do it. Or get some nice insurance on your device, that might cover you. Or just save up some money, lol.
The list: S3 LTE, Note 2, S4, S4 Mini, Note 2014 10.1, Note 4.
One more thing. You may be able to buy the Snapdragon variant much cheaper. It's around 470$ here, but it's from the "gray market". It's boxed, new, but they only offer repairs by themselves, like you don't send it back to Samsung, but to the shop you bought it from.
Compared to this, the Exynos is 700$ or so. But this one comes with 2 years of original Samsung warranty.
Again, it's not the best solution, but there is a good chance you will not need a warranty repair.

Whoa thanks for information. Look note 4 exynos is 430 dollar for us i think. İ cant wait for note 6 7 because they will be more expensive. And there is one more option to buy galaxy s6 (same price) . i hate sony devices same for htc.
My love is for nexus and samsung. 6p is expensive too.
Right now i got this choices(i am limited on money) (i will buy phone in july)
Xiaomi redmi note 3 pro 3gb
Galaxy Note 4 exynos
Galaxy s6
İ need battery peeformance , camera, multitasking . i dont care about games anyway (i got nexus 5 i can play games on them)
İ dont care about roms too.
Ao which choice should i take?

Well, update wise, anything is better than Samsung. (Just check Sammobile's comment section.)
Uhm... I would not buy a Xiaomi because of the bloated interface. That's the problem I have with Lenovo and other Chinese/cheap eastern devices. Like Lenovo put 4gb of ram into their device, made it very affordable, and killed it with a megabighuge UI. I don't know why.
What about the LG G4? (G5 is way too expensive.)
Flagships there receive updates for quite some time, and it's got a removable battery.
Just asking. Don't know about the SD808 performance.
By the way Sony used SD801 Pro in their Z3 series and that thing flies. It feels faster than my Exynos Note 4.
Again if you don't mind the no updates, you might be fine with the Note 4.
Remember years are A LOT of time in the smartphone world, especially if it's not a Nexus that gets updates, can be rooted, can be modded tons of ways.
There are a few roms for Exynos as well if you check the forum - mostly backported Note 5 ones, but I can't remember when was the time I ever used a stable rom. Maybe CM9 with the stable release - was kinda stable. But that's it. To me, it's a big letdown.
Like I am on the street, I have to make an emergency call, and I can't make calls.
I am on the road, need to make a quick map check, but can't because there is no GPS atm.
Want to browse some website real quick, it would be real important, can't because the mobile data is down currently.
And these happened at the most inconvenient times.
Ps.: If you are not real tech savvy, like my father, he is fine on KK. There is a newer update for his device, but on LL the call recorder crashed sometimes, phone lagged, etc. But he does not care, you know, he is totally fine with KK.
