Hey guys and gals I will be doing a full review in the coming days after using it but i did do an unboxing and first impressions of the LG G4 H815 in Red Leather....it is pretty damn sweet.
It's a little rough since i had a technical glitch during it but let me know what you think
I was impressed when I got mine and saw the tan leather, but that red is even nicer!

I got the red one too and it looks absolutely fantastic. At first when i ordered it, i wanted the black leather one but they were out for a moment on ebay so i went for the red one. So glad they were out of the black one, this red one is the one to get.

This will be the first phone in a long time I will rock without a case of any kind. Feels to good in hand. Also can't bring myself to hind it! I will be getting a tempered glass screen protector just in case. The seller I got it from included a clear case that fits over the leather just in case I know i may be beating up the phone that day.

Here is a pic taken with my Sony Z3 Compact that I may or may not sell. Still quite like it. Here is the LG G4 red leather compared to my BMW 4 series red leather. Both have German stitching so if figured it was a good fit... Hotness!

The smooth leather actually feels nicer than the pebbled leather. It's a little softer, whereas the pebbled colors are sort of plastic feeling.

Good choice this is the colour i'm most interested in. Not because i like red, in fact red stands out a bit too much and can attract attention.
But because it will look better than other colours as it ages. tan or black i can't see looking that good.
The smooth texture is a plus for grip. The gold buttons are a nice complement.
The other colour i like is the baby blue. Unusual colour to see in leather.
But you better have insurance.

That would have been nice to have. I wish HTC had offered the Developer Edition in special colors instead of the same silver and black. That would have been nice way to differentiate.

I really like it. I hated the mock-ups from a few months ago but this thing definitely looks beautiful. Still prefer my raw aluminum look, but this is very nice.

I am in the market to get a Moto X (coming from a Verizon S3) and was shocked that this thread did not exist. I just want to see the colors of the phones in real life, not on Motorola's website. Seeing a few in YouTube videos, they don't quite look the same color as what they show up as on the MotoMaker site. Let's see them.
I hate my camera, so no picture for you lol. Mine is black on woven black with metallic yellow accents and I am very happy. The metallic yellow accent is not a bright yellow like it shows on the maker. It almost boarders on gold, but not quite. I like it a lot

You'll have to forgive the awful camera I took it with. My old Droid X2 needed retirement and actually had issues focusing on the phone itself.

There really isn't anything quite like the sound of a supercharger loading up. Supercharging my car was the best bad decision I have made.

That case thing looks horrible lol. Completely ruins the beautiful look of the phone IMO.
It's the most premium looking phone I've owned, they really refined the design this time, I do not regret the size increase at all. I love how they keep the backside completely clean this. The only thing I wish they did differently is added a laser etching on the metal bumper that say: Made in USA.

Are you sure the new models are made in USA?
Motorola is shuttering the Texas plant and will make Moto X in China and Brazil.
Would be odd to see them retooling the factory to make the new models just to close it down in a couple of months.

Well not technically but it is assembled in US. The phone box say so, they are only closing down the Dallas plan in the end of this year. This phone it's last of it's breed.

I kinda wish they'd made them in China. If they had, maybe those of us who ordered in the second hour wouldn't be waiting until 10/13 to get our phones.
And where does Motorola get off charging my card and not shipping for a month afterwards? That's going to cause issues with some of my Amex perks.

Wow, I really love this design. How does the slate back feel? I have gotten a lot of mixed answers about what is considered "soft touch" or not. Do you know if this is more soft and rubberized, or hard and slick? Thanks!

Man. The ebony is either hit or miss, imo. I've seen a couple that looked nice and natural but the majority I've seen just look striped. I took a stab and ordered ebony but I'm thinking it's likely going back to swap with bamboo or a solid color.

You can send the phone back if you dont like it and have it rebuilt in a different way. You have to contact Motorola within like 24 hours or so of receiving shipment, though.

The leather from what I read is a thin layer. Not surprised the corners are wearing off. I'm guessing if the phone goes in your pocket daily the corners could wear off pretty easy.

I returned my leather phone due to the touchscreen issue, I think I'm finally convinced to replace it with the plastic one.
My leather one was looking old even with it being in a case. I returned it and got a Metallic Grey one instead.
So it is a lot better to get the Metallic Grey instead of any leather back?

Obviously the solution is to not remove it from your pocket on a daily basis.
Seriously though, wtf, LG? This should have been one of the first things to QC, right after "Does the leather actually stick to the plastic?"
But hey! 2 for $70!!! lol wow LG... I think I'll finally get a case and hope 1- that the leather holds up and 2- that the case will fit...

Uh, function is still there. The function of the back cover is to keep everything in the back from falling out.

I think of it as form = looks good on surface, function = how it actually performs. In this case the leather looks good on the surface but in reality is garbage.

I laughed at this because I ditched Samsung for this phone. I was loyal to Samsung for a few Galaxy's. I was even made a Rom for a Samsung device. I find the G4 far superior to the Galaxy line. I will be extra happy when the screen glitch is fixed with the missed taps.
Its kind of neat seeing all the different opinions about device choices.
On topic, I chose the metallic grey because I when I viewed both backs and felt them, I felt the leather back seemed to be a cheap plastic fake leather.
Honestly, I'm surprised that so many people are surprised by this. I mean, has anyone noticed how thin the leather is when examining the back cover off the phone? It's not full-grain leather. It's not auto seat or furniture thick. I'm kind of surprised it sticks at all. It's not a Vertu Signature Touch, that's for sure.
What Motorola did right in comparison with the Moto X was to not expose the leather at the corners of the phone. I was skeptical of LG going with a leather back from the G4 announcement (or leak) since Motorola was using a higher quality leather and I pretty much knew the exposed corners relegated the G4 leather to a show cover rather than a daily. My leather travel wallet told me all I needed to know about corner wear.
The black stamped pebble grain back will fare a little bit better, but probably not by too much.
I've ordered the White one.. been using the black devices all my life.. Hope i won't regret my decision

i've mostly only gone with black variants till the Sprint S6e which has a blue reflection. then for the N5, I picked up a white because I didn't like the other 3 colours as much, and the true black version just wasn't anywhere. but now I'm actually loving white. now that I think of it, i've always gone with mostly black cases anyway, so covering a white phone with a black case is a nice matching contrast. I mostly avoided white because it just always reminded me of earlier iPhones and iPods. with that being said, too bad the iPhone 6s Plus won't have a white version. so space grey it is. (and no, i'll still have my N5.. and S6e.. and 5s. haha)

second case I got for the N5 is clear, too. the black one I have (or tried), i'm just not liking. I don't think I like fully black cases anymore. but.. i'll be laying some hardwood floors on mine. loll

I agree. Pretty stupid if you ask me. I was kinda excited about the gold (since silver isn't available) when I thought that was an option. I don't understand why they would tease us with silver and not release it. My wife always gets white, so I got black again. I like the way it looks at different angles in the light. I don't like how slimy and smudged it gets. I'm getting a skin for the back because I hate cases and the front usually looks fine; the back is a different story. It basically never looks good because there is no way to keep it clean.

I would have loved a gold one. Shame they didn't offer all colors for all countries. I've done white devices since the Note 1, so it seemed only right I continue the trend. I really like the pearly look on this white.

I agree. Pretty stupid if you ask me. I was kinda excited about the gold (since silver isn't available) when I thought that was an option. Bought the white originally because it doesn't show fingerprints but changed to blue which I think just looks more special.

I agree; I really like the blue. I don't know why some talk about it looking blue like it's a bad thing. The only problem is the fingerprints on the back.

Yes totally agree, and what makes it worst is the silver is out, but only the 32gb. I am still waiting for the 64gb and waiting is such a pain.
