[5.0] Support for DEVs - G2 and Desire Z General

I have two Vision devices (one dead but maybe somedays will work, maybe just ARM flasher will help)
If ANY Dev start work on Lollipop, I would really appreciate if I could test it
HTC Vision will never die

I am trying a bit by bit, but I am not really sure what the result will be i am just a noob, not a real dev... Learning on the fly though... I'll start a thread as soon as I have something useful

You want to port lollipop to vision?
I doubt vision can handle it... ?

Well.. there's nothing to say agains this statement, as it could be probably true But that does not mean, that we have to give up Especially while I am using it as a "Learn to build a rom" project

Held all MIUIs, KitKat, now runs JellyBean without problems
On Android's official webpage is information that new Android can run well on devices with 512megs of RAM.
I think kernel with 1GHz governor for CPU will be enough.
Yesterday I saw cheap phone w/ 1GHz CPU, 1GB RAM and android 5 on board. As we see it's possible to run

This is almost certainly true, but the whole point is to just get it booting, right? Like when they got JB running on the G1 :silly: a.s.j forgot to tell you, you should check out the #andromadus IRC to see if any of the devs still chat on there and also I've found members of the Slim ROMs team INCREDIBLY helpful in the past, I think they have an IRC channel too if you're new to the IRC stuff just say

[Q] Is MIUI coming to Aria?

Anyone know if Miui will be coming to the Aria?
I wouldn't think so. It seems to be an HDPI rom. I don't know if I would like it on the Aria tho. I've messed with it a bit on the N1 and my buddy ditched it for CM, its a major battery and resource hog.

Thanks for the reply, it does look like a battery hog, but I hope that they keep making ROMs for the Aria. I had no idea what a solid little phone this thing is.

no.
<space filler>
I'm guessing our Aria is way underpowered to run the MIUI ROM.
From my understanding miui requires a armv7 processor at this time.
Sent from deep within the rabbit hole
The guys in the hero forum are working on porting it, but it seems like the thread is at a standstill until an experienced dev picks it up.
By the time they make a usuable "port", your phone upgrade will be here.

I haven't had a contract in years. Personally, I prefer to stay off-contract, as I can't afford AT&T rate plans. If I want a new phone, I buy it outright.

MiUi is mimics iOS5.x almost in every fashion. If you were to lay a iOS theme on it, and did a screen shot no one would know the difference.
Resolution
MiUi sounds like a great mimic, and I'm going to give it a try. But is there any way to make it the primary operating system of a phone like the Droid X? What is the fundamental difference between the phones that is preventing migration?
Try iLauncher by SUCKGAMONI on the Google Playstore. If you want the MIUI launcher here it is:View attachment MIUI_Launcher_3.1.apk
(This is not my work)

I am only asking out of curiosity and not out of a desire. I know that ios is not open source so making an ios rom is not realistic, but if super hacker really wanted to, could he or she make it work some how? Or what about a program which could sniff out the source code for closed source platforms?
I am very happy with Android no desire for iPhone(unless free) just asking

i dont think it would be too hard to port for a pro, the problem would be with drivers. how will iOS know what to do with your htc/samsung/etc hardware?
Theoretically, given unlimited amount of time and unlimited determination, one could make such a port work, at least partially.
Practically, given different HW of those phones, the amount of time and determination required to port anything newer than iOS3 are close to insane - unrealistic enough for anybody to want to do it.
If one were to say make a port of ios, would it be illegal to release it being that ios is closed source or would this fall under fair use? More than likely Apple would sue who ever released it lol

Porting Sense to the Atrix 4G [Developers needed!]

Hello, XDA!
I am organizing a team of developers to attempt to port HTC Sense to the Atrix 4G. Theoretically, this should be possible, correct? I've seen reports of it being successfully ported to Samsung phones. I love the Sense UI, and would love to see this happen, if it is at all possible! This will be my first attempt at an Android development project, so really any help would be greatly appreciated!

My thinking exactly. There's also a project for porting Sense to the Motorola Triumph, and the Epic 4G. So, i thought, "Why the hell not?"
A) Why wouldn't you get an HTC phone if you like the Sense UI?
&
B) Why would you want to take the bloatware of MotoBlurr off a phone and load it with another manufacturer's bloatware, HTC Sense?
Interesting idea, none the less though. I guess just to prove you can

Sense is a battery hog. I really like sense, but I usually load an AOSP rom onto my HTC phones.
You can get de-bloated Sense roms.

This could be interesting. I'd definitely try a sense port if one were available. Chances are I'd stick with AOSP, but why rule something out without trying it?
Anything dev related for the Atrix is welcome as far as I'm concerned. Good luck.

So you want someone to dev it for you? Do you honestly believe that tonnes of people haven't tried already? But of course, someone will do it if you request it Also, off topic, that rolleyes emoticon is crap, doesn't look sarcastic as much as it does worried. Just to clarify, in this case it is indeed meant to show exasperation.

Ubuntu Phone OS on N7000

Hey folks, I'm keen to start work porting the gnexus image for Ubuntu to the N7000 when it's released later this week. Is anyone else keen to join this effort?
While very familiar with the linux commandline, servers, desktop linux, and flashing my phone, I haven't compiled much code before and am unsure where to start. I would appreciate any advice you might have.
Looking forward to getting this os running on our original notes.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Deleted sorry wrong post.
I would love to see some support here. Push!
I'm presuming you're going to need to build an unbuntu compatible kernel for the note, mobile devices don't tend to work in the same way as desktops, so the pretty much universal kernel model used on the desktops don't work too well here. (size being the major consideration).
Not really looked into what they are doing, I'm presuming they will release source under gpl, so at least you will be able to diff a standard gnex build and the ubuntu. You can then use that as a basis to rebuild for the note.
"Porting" an image if that's all they release is going to end up quite messy.
EDIT according to techradar they will release source http://www.techradar.com/news/softw...galaxy-nexus-nexus-4-coming-next-week-1131567
But doesn't it run on android kernel without any modifications?

You think every android phone runs on the same kernel? Think again.
It's always a possible that they will use an Android kernel for the gnexus or n4 builds, but it's unlikely, as Android has some features that don't play too nicely with a mainstream Linux build.
Not seen this yet, nor code for it, so can't say exactly what they are doing yet.

See what happens when it comes out then, but would seem from the information Canonical is presenting that they are using standard android kernels. Will be interesting to see.
