Am I the only one that likes the n6? - Nexus 6 General

I keep reading negative posts about it, but I LOVE this phone. I came from a one plus and while the battery isn't as good I still get at least 4 hours of SOT with a superior screen. The build is great and camera seems just as good. Its not great but its more than capable for a mobile device. Quick charge is AWESOME. I can't be the only one.

Nope, you're not alone. The Nexus 6 is the best fondleslab I've ever used.
Love it to death. Would buy again.

Nope, I am exactly the same. Came from a oneplus one to the nexus, gave the oneplus to the wife. I like everything better on the nexus except battery was a little better on the OPO. At least the xda threads and any other forums to do with the nexus are helpful and fairly Kind, unlike that oneplus forum that is just full of whiners and people who can't be arsed reading anything at all then ***** when they make a mistake.
Nexus is a very cool phone.

Love mine with chroma ROM and hellscore kernel I got about 6 hours screen time with how I use my phone I only got half that on my s4 its big but I like it

My biggest gripe
When google/motorola decided to release a almost 6inch nexus device, they should have added a phablet style os. I dont really know but something that made use of the screen. Some type of added features.
Great phone overall, little overpriced but would easily last years. I dont judge phones but SOT(never understood this, use it and it dies) but it gets me through a work day with 15% after 10hrs.
Yall should sticky Turn off adaptive brightness. Pink/Yellow screen was a turn off.

A phablet ui? No thanks. Nexus is all about pure android, not skinning. I usually don't judge by sot, but man my nexus 5 had the worst battery life I have ever experienced. On par with my original moto droid. Its nice to have a phone with a good quality screen that is able to get good sot.

turn brightness down(pink) or max(yellow/warm)?
If not I and a million others have a different phone.
When I say phablet ui, Im thinking something similar to tablet ui(my note 10.1 2014 is on kitkat) Maybe google went away with that since lollipop. Ultimately slight tweaks to take advantage of the screen.
This is my first true nexus device. Its pure android i know just a bit boring. I know i know thats the point.

I see what you mean when I turn down the brightness it gets yellow. Feels good on the eyes when you're in a dark room though. I'm in a room right now with only the TV on, no lights And the screen doesn't look yellow at all. If I turn adaptive brightness off it feels like I'm looking at the sun.

Yeah coming from a mx4 pro and note 4 made the screen appear dim. Adaptive brightness is great for moments like you mentioned.
Reason I mentioned it, most reviewers said negative things about the screen. 99% probably didn't turn off the filter. Screen is bright and vivid without it.

Had the z2 before with the ****ed up built quality. Creaking everywhere and was just a matter of time until the phone cracked. Sold it and bought nexus 6 and never looked back. Great solid phone with great built quality.
And no, the camera is just fine and more than decent.

I absolutely love my nexus 6, and my battery life's been awesome so far I can get a full day out of it without any problems. That's listening to music most days and occasional screen on time.

No.

I'm loving my n6 on T-Mobile. I came from a Verizon GS4 on T-Mobile. Love how easy it is to do anything and everything on it. WiFi calling is icing on the cake. Been jealous of the wife's iPhone WiFi calling ability.

I challenge anyone on XDA to find a better all around flagship device! I here so much that the price was so high but I'm fine with it. The last couple Nexus devices were enjoyable but let's be real for a second the were flagship like!!!! That's still not flagship. The Nexus brand is my favorite brand of phone but with every nexus I had I ended up going to another phone usually before half a year was up. Once or twice I did come back then GI away again lol its hard to remember when you've had so many flagship phones. With the Nexus 6 nothing has been able to pry it out of my hands. Honestly I like it so much that I find it hard to think about getting the next Nexus phone. Of. Course the next Nexus will be better but they may get rid of some very nice pieces from the Nexus 6. Front facing speakers may not make a return although I hope they do. The 5.2 inch is confirmed but that 5.7 inch is just rumors and that would be a huge hit to take in screen size. LG doesn't use amoled which I wouldn't like. Battery life probably would be as nice but I can't say for sure. I guess we will see soon enough. I almost forgot the software experience on Nexus devices which crushes everything else accept Motorola devices.

I personally would have preferred it a bit smaller, Moto Maxx (international Droid Turbo) would have been a better Nexus in that regard, but the extra size occasionally comes in handy for man hands, and the rest of the device is top notch. By far, my biggest concern going into the Nexus 6 was the amoled display, since my last phone was an amoled and seriously made my eyes bleed it was such crap, but turns out that even with the fake 2560x1440 RGBG (true R and B resolution of 2560x720, only G is the full res), that it is enough to overcome general amolededness.

I like mine a lot! I would not like anything smaller. Perfect size!
The only change I would ask for would be a bigger battery but it is not bad and charges REALLY FAST.

Always love nexus but do miss the little refinements of the moto software additions. Moto assist and display are the primary two. I have good alternatives but it's missing a few key features.

Yeah...never notice any issues due to the subpixel layout. Thing about it....720 pixels in about 3 inches is 240 pixels per inch, and it only matters on near pure blue or red. I guess if you have a bunch of solid red vertical lines it would be noticeable.q

Best phone ever for me. I came from a note 2 as I upgrade every other year. I have other "toy" habits like musical instruments that I also spend discretionary funds on
The other thing I love is that I am a free agent for plans. So if I get dissatisfied I can change in a heartbeat.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

The greatest phone I've ever owned!!!! Unless someone makes another 6" phone with front facing speakers, I think I'll have the nexus for a long long time. If things keep getting updated and supported, I'm happy, and just the fact that I don't have to wait months or a year for an os update really makes me feel like I made a great investment instead of something that will be "behind" after one update

Just moved over from an S3 - Some help needed please

Hey guys, I've just moved over from an S3 and have some questions. Any help is appreciated.
1. With a higher PPI, I assumed the screen would be more clearer. The colors are washed and the picture quality is not as good as the S3. What is better is text. It seems sharper, but pictures looked washed and not as good as the S3. I've noticed a thread with changing the RGB values, and have tried to the app to change the values, but I it is still not as good as the S3. Can anything be done to resolve this?
2. Wireless Charging - i want to be able to do this, but I have seen the Nokia chargers are a little hit and miss. Which ones work 100%?
3. High battery drain. Which is the best kernel to use with AOKP?
Many thanks for your help guys
1. Use faux kernel with faux app
2. qi chargers other than nokia
3. faux kernel and his app + his values
4. use q and a thread
Once you've used nexus for a while, the s3 screen will look cartoon and awful seriously. Put a really good HD colourful background pic on homescren and use phone for a few weeks and you'll never ever go back to amoled screens unless you really really love cartoons lol.
As for battery drain, this will improve but faux kernels are excellent

Just took a picture of the same image with an S3 and the N4 and the S3 looks so much better.

To be honest, I m in the same situation as you.
The screen, I think we ll get used to it, my wife still got her S3, and it is not natural in another way . But agreed that the screen is "pale".
The worst is the battery, as soon as the screen is used, the drain is just so huge....
BUT
The SGS3 is no new phone, remember, so I m sure the N4 will get better in the battery front.
The possibilities of developpement fun will make up for it, because after all, that s why we are here on XDA, right?

I was happier when I had my S3, as there was plenty of development
but since I upgraded to the S3 LTE, the development was limited and I got frustrated. Also my S3 LTE kept dropping reception and it was getting really annoying so I got rid of it
The AMOLED screen on the S3 is seriously a joke. Colors are over saturated and as someone else already said, it looks cartoonish.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I can see the appeal in the AMOLED screens Samsung uses. They do produce some vibrant colors. Comparing my old Captivate (SGS1) to my Nexus 4 is even a pretty stark difference. Honestly, though, I have come to prefer the less saturated look on the N4.
I came from the S3, the only things I really miss are the camera and the battery.
The camera is amazing on the S3, the pictures were always much sharper than the pictures taken with the N4, the N4 does take VERY nice pictures with ample light.
The battery on the S3 seemed to be a lot better, and drain much slower...I'm REALLY hoping that this gets fixed with 4.2.2....
After using the N4 since its initial release looking at the S3 screen is...bad (IMO), I LOVED the S3, but the screen on the N4 is a lot brighter, clearer and seems to have more natural colors.
For kernel, I recommend the latest faux beta kernel, has amazing battery life for me and has also been relatively stable. It has one issue for me, sometimes the phone just doesn't wake up after I turned off the screen, but that's only in rare cases and really no big deal.
You should also use the faux app from the Play Store, it's a bit expensive imo but it's worth it since you can do all kinds of stuff with it from undervolting to setting the screen calibration.
Speaking of screen calibration: The stock one is really not that goot, especially the whites and overall colours on lower brightness looked a bit weird to me sometimes. But I changed the calibration a bit and it looks awesome and just "true" (again, to me personally). I'll post my calibration here, maybe you can try it. I took it from a spreadsheet where it said it would be calibrated just like a MacBook Pro screen which is supposed to be perfectly calibrated:
Red 255, Green 255, Blue 255. Gamma Amp0: Red 19, Green 21, Blue 24. Gamma Amp1: Red 1, Green 2, Blue 3.
I hope it helps.
Like some previous comments stated, the amoled screens are OVER saturated to the max.
As far as the battery life, I would look into juicedefender. Works great for me.
My Note 2's screen looks much more similar to my Nexus 4's screen when screen mode is set to "Natural." Does the S3 have a similar setting to make the AMOLED vibrancy less jarring?
cartoons

As for battery, wait 'til the honeymoon is over. It lasts plenty. Unless you have NOW enabled.
I'm considering buying a Nexus 4 now that it's back in stock and I can afford it. I've no need for the phone at all but just really like everything about it. Currently using an S3 also... anyone who owned both care to share opinions?
I've been a GS3 user from release date. I was on AOKP for the longest that I wanted to try the real deal. I just got my Nexus 4 two days ago and I love everything about it except the camera. GS3 camera wins hand down. The screen on the Nexus 4 is amazing and you won't want to look at your Samsung anymore.

The phones are equally good in my opinion. If you like touch wiz, stay with the s3. If you like stock android, want more Dev support, and don't want to put up with Samsung's slow updates then go with the nexus. I personally prefer my nexus because I want the updates from Google and not the OEM's, and I'm a flashaholic.

Well the Nexus 4 is a lot faster and the screen doesn't look so weird like the S3. The N4 feels a little different in the hand - much better build quality on the N4 but the tapered edges of the S3 are a little nicer on the hand. You will definitely like the N4, it feels like quality kit in your hand and performance is excellent.

I got my N4 2 days ago. Before that I owned an S3. When I first looked at the N4's screen, it was very strange, it seemed pale to me, and I missed the accurate blacks from Amoled. But after one day I got used to it, and began to like it more and more. It's very sharp, and clean. The build quality is much better, and more solid than the S3.Imo it is beautiful with its minimal design.
The peformance is better, not a single app redraw or anything... Battery... For me it lasts from morning 7 till I arrive at home at 7 pm, and still has some energy in it (approx. 20%). On the way to work I listen to music and read forums for 1 hour, and I repeat this on the way home too. During the work, I send a few emails, some facebook, and every service is on. I don't think it would be so bad... Day by day I like my N4 more and more.

Gotta say I'm loving this phone..more than my old s4 and HTC one!!

I am a very picky phone owner, let me just say that right away. I always have a different phone cause I need to have the latest and greatest. After having the moto x I truly feel as if this is the best overall phone out right now for me.
The s4 was just too damn big and I felt like I always need to use both hands to do anything. Sure the camera was nice but it my daily use its not as big a difference as people make it out too be. Battery was OK, but my x is way better!!
The htc one def has the nicest screen out. But unless your staring at both of these phones side by side the difference is negligible. The camera on the one was absolutely horrible no matter what the conditions! Blurry and over processed colors. Battery life was good but again the x is way better.
I think that overall for what I use the phone for, the x is gonna be with me for a while. I love the size!!! Feel perfect, a good size screen and yet I don't need two hands to always use it. The active notifications are awesome!! Screen is good for me, I'm not one to purposely stare at the screen to try and see if I can see pixels etc. Battery life is awesome, I'm easily getting 4+ hours of screen on time. The camera is not nearly as bad as most reviews report, in my findings. Yes the s4 is better but the moto x holds its own!
I'd like more dev support cause I'm a crackflasher. I'm sure it will come. But if it doesn't happen I'm OK with it because the phone is pretty much the way I'd want a ROM to be anyways.
^^^^ i agree
^^^^^^ I agree x2
As someone who was a hardcore flashaholic this is the first phone I've had that I don't feel the need to immediately load a new ROM onto.
Agreed - I've had tons of android phones (G1, G2, evo and evo 3d, moto backflip, droid and droid 3, galaxy S2, nexus 1, nexus S, gnex, and even the kyocera echo), but once I went to an iphone 5, I swore I'd never go back.
Once ios7 was out though, android started looking more appealing to me again. Moto X is the phone that brought me back! I've gone to the store multiple times to play with the GS4 and the HTC one, but I could never pull the trigger.
The Moto X is the phone that brought me back to android. I love it

I'm glad I'm not the only one. MOTO X is nice.
This phone with a few tweaks with Xposed is really really great. Battery is stellar. The camera is not the best however once the software is fixed it will be fine. The only thing I'm missing is t9 dialer. I'll find a way to push the CM apk.

I agree. I also tend to always have the latest and greatest and waffle between ios and android. Most recently I came from the HTC One Developer Edition and although I really liked that phone the Moto X is much better for me. The ergonomics are just great, not much bigger than an iphone 5, and the battery is very good. The active notifications are just brilliant and with them I rarely need to use the power button, just a quick swipe and I'm were I need to be. Killer phone.
Agreed. I had the HTC One and then the GS4 Active shortly after that and now I have the Moto X. This thing runs circles around both those phones in every regard. Don't miss a single thing about either of them.

Im also very picky in how I like my phone look and function both hardware/software. im still waiting for my moto x to get unlocked But so far I still need a new ROM.
Need to remove att garbage
Need quick toggles to be customizable. Add WiFi tethering/ flashlight etc. Also don't like how single click takes you to the menu on a specific toggle instead holding it toggles the feature.
Would like paranoid ROM, halo is a nice feature I got used to on my nexus 4
Id settle for quick toggles fix and halo (not that I have a choice) STOP SAYING YOU DONT NEED ROMS!!
That being said I like how minimalistic (ROM) Motorola is now and see myself buying more of their devices. Personally hate Samsung galaxy series. There is no need for a physical buttons on screen is the way to go.
Hope the moto x gets some good people working on Roms. I love the size of this phone and really want to stop jumping from phone to phone chasing that perfect combination. But my guess is the grass will always seems to be greener on the other side......nexus 5.

The icons and fonts are much smaller than a s4 screen. Especially when you factor in the on screen buttons the actual usable screen is much less than than I was expecting. In fact I am not to sure if it is much bigger than my iPhone 5.

After soft bricking my GS4, I had to get a new phone while i work on that. I had been eyeing the Moto X and it was cheap. But now that i have been playing with it for a few days, its great. For me the Software is great, I love the voice commands, coming from an iphone i sorely missed siri and I feel that Moto X realy handles this better then the GS4.
As for hardware, I miss my GS4. The bigger screen was nice, and I loved the IR blaster.
If I could get the Moto X Rom on to the GS4 ( after I unbrick it) that would be ideal.
I've been looking at this phone but the fact is Nexus 5 will be a better device in terms of hardware, software and future updates.
Also I love the people here saying this is the best phone they've ever used. I think they copy paste that from their post on their prior phones.
I'm sure moto x is a great phone but its momentary. When you get your next phone that'll be the best one yet.
Prove me wrong, keep your moto x for 1 year and I'll be impressed. Doubt many of you in this forum will do that.

Just feel a little bit let down...

Well, ive been using my nexus 9 now for a few days and i just feel a little bit let down knowing how much ive spent and the results ive got. This feeling is purely regarding the hardware as i love lollipop and all the benefits that brings.
I thought i was happy with my nexus 9, well i was until i picked up my nexus 7 2013 and wow.. So light and it felt really nice! No sharp corners and the screen is loads better than the 9. This got me thinking, ive paid double for the 9.
What i would of loved is the 7 just resizing to the 9, using the same style and design (with wireless charging) im not over bothered about the new cpu if im honest, the one in the 7 is fast enough. Plus lollipop feels really slick anyway when i tried the preview version. They would of sold bucket loads, ok a few people would of wanted more but its better that than have loads of dissapointed customers.
Ive owned the Nexus 4 / 5 and both 7's and i even sold my 5 hoping to buy a 6.. Well until they released the price, so im back using the 4 again and very happy with it.
Also to top it all off and rub salt in the wounds HTC in the USA did a 50% off sale on the N9...ok it was only for a day but surely they wouldnt do that if they were losing money on each device would they?
Needless to say my N9 will be going back as faulty for a full refund due to its screen flicker. I love the 4:3 screen ratio so im looking for a alternative.. Any ideas?
Steve
Screen is "loads better" on the N7? I don't understand at all. I've had both side by side and can't see how you can come to that conclusion.
I believe the only alternative with a 4:3 aspect ratio would be an iPad.

Can you do a Nexus 7 and Nexus 9 side by side video review?
I'm curious how they compare performance wise, i.e. page loads, refresh rates, stuttering, what movies look like on the N9 in the horizontal orientation etc.

I'll see if I have time this weekend.
Don't have a tripod, would be tough to hold the camera and perform actions at the same time on both tablet, but I'll see what I can do.

Any ideas?

Think its more your wallet that has hurt your view of it. (in my opinion) and I get that. That and lollipop is great its supposed to be faster and not just on new devices this was the goal starting from KK. So shelling out that much money when you have the N7 may hurt a bit. I like the portability of the N7 Spent most my time with the n10 though. I just prefer bigger for some tasks.
The 50% sale only lasted an hour or less and was more hype than anything. Still there is a large markup on these much like there is on every premium device.
The screen flicker i don't have but if I were you I would definitely do an exchange or just send it back.
Personally I have been enjoying it but haven't spent enough time with it yet ( one day)
I'm enjoying mine a lot. I've had both Nexus 7's and I liked the 2nd gen a lot. But it didn't feel like a tablet to much because it wasn't really much bigger than my phones (Nexus 5 and OnePlus) this is a good upgrade. I'm waiting for more performance tweaks in future updates or new Roms. It hiccups from time to time but not much to worry about.

death before apple!
Just imagine taking the iPad air 2 and putting lollipop on it, best tablet ftw
The N9 screen is a LOT better than the N7's (lightbleed aside). I would go as far as to say that it has the best overall screen of any Nexus device that came before it in terms of color accuracy, fidelity, and viewing angles.
I share the thoughts of the op. I have both the n7 FHD and n9 and ive only been using the n7 since every time I grab the n9 the light bleed, loose back and over heating bothers me so much. I'm returning it for sure. Maybe I'll give it another shot once they work out all these issues.
And also, just noticed today when turning the n9 on, that it has yellowish spots when the screen is black but backlight is on (as in when turning on).

Will they sort the QC issue out thou? Its put me off to be honest.... I'll probably wait for the next premium tablet...

Zero issues here with mine. Every product has their issues. There is always an "issues" and "disappointment" bandwagon for the first few weeks.

Exactly.
Some people think buying The Shield will make them happy. Sure, it's a great tablet, I had one before my N9 I know but check out their board on xda. It's just as littered with complains of this fault and that fault.
I've never heard of a device with ZERO complaints about something.
I am loving my N9. I have the Asus TF701T also and now that ive been using the N9 for a week the only time i pick up the Asus is when i want to play a game that is not compatible yet on my N9. I have none of the issues that others are complaining about. Feels great, looks great and works great.
That's all folks.
I am finding a LOT more reviews where they are saying the N9 was a missed chance... there is no excuse for the squidgy back and light bleed on a premium tablet...
I'm thinking Nokia N1 now... it has the laminated screen and the aluminum body the N9 should of had.
So, what tablets have similar specs to the N9, but without the issues, regardless of cost? I'm currently waiting for LTE version (though maybe I'll grab a sand one when it comes out if I decide I can live without LTE), but I'm definitely open to a better alternative. I know there aren't any that have 64 bit processors or Android 5.0 (yet). But beside those, is there any other Android tablet that's around 8-9 inches and has similar performance. I mostly will use it for web browsing, games, and testing apps that I've developed. Thanks!

That's the problem. It's a premium price sticker for a not-premium device.

How much do you like your G4? 1-10? (Vote)

Just wanted to see how much people like their G4! I personally love mine and think its the best phone I've ever had so far.
I believe you need to be on computer browser to vote.
BTW, no root and twrp for the G4 H811 is driving me nuts, so this poll will keep me temporarily sane!
For me an 8.

9 for me. Love it.
I put 9 I guess based on the descriptions it's between a 9 and 10 for me, there are some small things that need to be improved like the missing taps on the touchscreen, terrible top pull down menu-everytime i scroll across I find myself accidentally turning off or on something I didn't want to, screen brightness at max level is a little underwhelming ...etc but nothing really deal breaking for me. Overall I'm satisfied with battery life.
I would not return this phone for anything else out there at the moment-that pretty much sums it up

Some of those thing could probaby be fixed with an update or custom rom.
My deal breaker was wireless charging. But now that I installed and modded a Chinese wireless sticker, that put the icing on the cake for me. Look for that thread if u want one.

At an 8. Phone heats up kinda quick in my opinion. And i thought the battery would last alittle longer that it does
10 for me. Coming from a LG G3—>Note 4->Note 4 Edge->Nexus 6 to this phone. Im just waiting for the ordered skinomi glass screen protector and verus verge gold case. I got the gold plastic back version of the phone. Also waiting for Supershieldz glass protector, spigen carbon fiber case, i-blason prime case, and UAG ash case w/glass screen protector.
I'm an Lg loyalist in all my electronics. I loved the G2 and had none of the problems others had on the G3.. Until Tmo effed up lollipop, It was the best for me. I love the G4, but I honestly expected more, especially from the battery. Overall I am still happy with it and like the look, shape and feel better than the 3, but the G3 just ran better for me. I do love having smart lock and the other additions. I hate that they removed smart screen and Tmo again left off the user accounts though. I get better signal than my other phones so that's a plus. Who knows maybe this replacements battery will be better and I'll be happy, I have never been a custom rom kinda guy. I like the Lg stock experience and really just do a few simple mods and tweaks to fine tune it.

I had that gold case. Looked very elegant but was too slipery for my taste. Ended up getting the gold Spigen Neo Hybrid case that has a nice grip to the back.

Ehh not sure maybe 5. Coming from s3,and note 2, 3, 4. Maybe my hopez were a little high. Becore samsung i was huge htc guy. I was hoping to gdt away from sammy because i dont want anything that looks like and iphone. But my battery is terrible and i miss having a physical home button because when im in the camera app. I always seem to end going home. These may just be gripes i have. I really love the leather back and the bomb photos they have. Something is missing from my note4. I cant put my finger on it but i have two more weeks to figure out was it is

I've been around the flagship block that last few years: Note 3, G3, 1+, note 4, Nexus 6 and now G4. I've been rather schizophrenic about it, the missed taps and studdering are my complaints, but I's sure a custom ROM will readily nix these, so I'm staying with the G4 to see what the note 5 will look like.
Rated it at 9....pretty damned spiffy.
given the criteria, I gave it a 10, I've had a tilt 2, LG T501, Amaze 4g, G2, G3 and now the G4 as well as the following work phones droid maxx, some other droid with a keyboard and LG gs4 and HTC one Mini. The LG G4 is better than all that have come before and I do love it.
Compared to the G3, better contrast/colors, camera, volume, battery life, BT audio in my car. If I had one complaint is that I don't care for the metallic boarder, it will eventually chip and look ugly for those that go without a case. while it's no game changer, it's a great evolution of the platform. now if it had the battery life of the G2 then I would give a 10+.
8.5
9.5 so i went with 9. Size is great and reception is phenomenal with lte going fast and bluetooth connection taking little time to connect. Could list positives for days.
Gripes:
#1 Auto brightness - indoors its too light in good artificial light and darkness. Makes viewing angles bad. Hopefully they can update it to be brighter. Outdoors is great.
#2 Concept software unpolished. There should be more smart options (work settings maybe or other setting options). Same goes with dual screen mode.. Limited apps.
#3 G4 bootloader struggle... I plan on having this a while but it sounds like a xda bounty mission.

I give mine an 8. You can fix #1 above by using the free play store app lux lite

2. I'll most likely return it. My touchscreen misses taps (especially during knock code input), has issues charging, and isn't rooted (yet). I have the 810. I came from a note 3 which is a beast of a phone and I can't justify paying for this phone when the note is better in many areas. I'll miss the G4 camera, though.
5
10 - if bootloader unlock is achieved

9 For me as well. I love this phone. The only improvement could be the battery life for on screen time along with the restoration of functions removed by VZW. Aside from that, it's a great phone and personally I'm glad I had chosen it over the S6/S6 Edge.

Anyone Rethinking the purchase after watching the Review?

So just like most you guys, I pre-ordered the Nexus 6p and awaiting shipment. Thankfully, a lot of reviews have been pouring in over the past week that gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect. To me, the biggest thing that makes me want to re-think this phone is the sheer fact of how TALL the phone is. I know it's a phablet, and I am currently on the OPO and I have fairly large hands ( I am 6ft tall) and I feel the height of the OPO is probably the max to go before it starts becoming uncomfortable. With the Nexus 6p being a good 1/4" Taller than the OPO, I don't know.. it just seems like it'll be a pain to use the phone with one hand. Plus Pure android does not have any software baked into it to make the interface easy for one handed use.
The other thing that I hear most reviewers say is that they are not happy with the brightness nits in direct sunlight (android authority said it was like 400 nits or something which is pretty low).
So what are your concerns after watching the reviews so far? Anyone getting cold feet? Anyone thinking some other phone (like the Xperia Z5) would be a better option?
I think the reviews have made me more excited to get this phone. I'm coming from a Nexus 5 2013, so it'll be a big size increase. Reviewers are talking highly of the phone with their only negatives really being biases or personal preferences. The aluminum body, how fast and smooth it runs marshmallow , stereo front facing speakers, native fingerprint sensor, ambient display, doze, and all of the features android hub processor brings, large battery, fast charging, amoled display (reviewers seem to agree that it looks great with good colors, but isn't as bright as other amoleds, which can probably be tweaked with software), project fi support, and a low price tag of $499 for a phone that's being compared with all of the best phones available right now like the iPhone 6S Plus, Note 5, OnePlus Two greatly reinforces why I'm buying this phone.
For me this is hands-down the right upgrade for me. I won't support Apple and I won't support Samsung. The closed-source nature of those companies is something I cannot support. I don't much care for their products either.. but that's another topic.
I'm just a tad bit worried about the size, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. My phones have practically doubled in size every year since I had my first cellphone. Besides that, my only other real concern is if there are any repercussions for unlocking/rooting such as apps not working or warranty being voided.
How could you change your mind after the reviews? It's not like the OnePlus Two where there were obvious glaring issues. The only thing I see are mixed reviews on the battery and that all depends on how you use the device which none of the reviews have really gone in depth about. I am waiting for the GSMArena review, they have a standardized tests for all of the important stuff.
xxtruplayaxx16 said:
If anything, the reviews are just reinforcing why I pre-ordered this phone as soon as possible. I think they have been very positive overall.
BTW, have you held an IPhone 6S Plus before? It is essentially identical in size to the 6P. This is how I made up my mind on whether I could really use a phone this big or not. I'm coming from a N4 so you could imagine I was a bit worried.

And if it is too big, u can sell it (probably for a premium) online and buy a nexus 5x. It's a great thing!

They have only made me want it more. I usually have my ambient light sensor set at like 20 to 30 percent and never had an issue. So luckily for me that won't matter... Size is a concern just like the nexus 6 was, but this looks to be much easier to hold. G4 was a big change from my nexus 5, but I adapted quickly. And this should have the similar feel in size changes since the width isn't as big as the nexus 6
Nope
Definitely had me rethinking, about how I am going to purchase it
No.

The reviews thus far have just reaffirmed my decision to purchase this phone. It really does seem like the perfect Android device so far. Even though there is no such thing as a perfect phone, for me, this seems like the device I have waited so long for!
The only thing I regret is no ir blaster and no wireless charging. I like my note 4's stylus, but I can probably live without that.
My only ragrat is that frost looks better every time I see it, and graphite looks worse

I'm thinking I will be fine with my nexus 6 now. Apart from the finger print reader and camera there isn't much the 6P can do that the 6 cant.
The battery savings come from marshmallow and I have that already on the 6 so I'm losing the urge to upgrade. If I was coming from any other phone though I would be upgrading asap!

I'd say time to into into the future, but the future has been here for a while now.
