[Q] After Lollipop update my G2 doesn't automatically connect to my wif router - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I check "Settings-->Network" the Wifi section says "Connection Available". However, it won't automatically change to wifi from my 3G service. For example, if I leave home my phone switches to 3G, but when I return home it stays on 3G. I had no problems with this on KitKat.
I've tried rebooting my phone, forgetting my connection, playing around with some of the "Advanced wifi settings", but nothing seems to help.
I'm not absolutely sure, but I think my phone DOES automatically switch to the free wifi hotspots provided by my cell company. Could there be a setting my router that may help?

3G connection fail after disconnection from Wifi

As the title states i am having issues everytime i leave my wifi connection. I use my tab at home via wifi all the time but when i go out i am having connectivity issues over 3G. I am runing Straight Talk which runs on ATT network. When i experience the problem my 3G connection shows active and full bars but if i want to use either a browser, youtube,Tunein Radio, Google Play or any app that requires an internet connection i get an connect error message. I have tried disabeling inabeling the mobile data but still a no go. What i need to end up doing is i need to restart my tab to restore full 3G connectivity. On the flipside if i come home my tab connects to wifi with no problems. So anyone know why this could be happening?

WIFI Issues

I've had my Nexus for about a week now and noticed two strange issues with the WIFI connection.
1. I can connect to WIFI successfully at home but as soon as I go out and it switches to the 2G network and then later go back inside the WIFI doesn't auto connect it will stay on 2G, I have to disable and enable WIFI to connect to my home WIFI, is there a way round this or is it a bug?
2. Whenever I'm out an about and the phone detects a WIFI network even if its not configured to connect to the WIFI network the phone seems to disable 2G Data connection and continually notifies me of a WIFI network being in range and wanting to configure it, is there anyway of disabling this behavior and allowing the 2G Data connection to be active when no configured WIFI network are in range?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Jon
Really can't help you much on the settings as I don't quite have my N4 but you should always turn wifi off when you're not using it. You will get much better battery and you wont have problem with #2. Sorry I couldn't really help much.
Sent from my epic touch, waiting for my Nexus 4

I have the same issue number 1. I find the battery is getting used quickly and the wifi will not connect. if i disable then enable, it quickly connects to the known wifi signal. I can see a different battery decay slope if I let this problem persist for a few hours, it then reverts to its usual slope once wifi is restarted. This problem usually only occurs once a day on average. I hope someone knows how to solve this issue.
cheers

[Q] cannot auto connect to open wifi even though it is saved

my galaxy s4, running 4.2.2. There are two saved wifi networks, one is open, and the other is wpa security. The wifi switch of my phone is ON. Here is the strange things, when I came in to the range of wpa security wifi, my phone auto connect to the wifi network, everything is ok. When I came in to the open wifi networks area, my phone does not connect to the open wifi, even though it is saved, but I can mannual connect to the wifi.
So, why ? and how can I let my phone connect the saved open wifi auto?

Had a similar problem.
In advanced there is an option, cant remember it now, been too long since I looked at it, (a week :silly.
Something about switching to mobile networks if you lose your wifi. Make sure that is turned on, else the device decides a wifi connection is 'bad' instead of just out of range and won't remember it.

Thanks for your reply. I searched the menu which you mentioned, try every option that can select or unselect, unfortunately it won't work.
My device can connect an secure wifi auto when the signal is fair, but can not connect to an open wifi, only work by manual pick it.

[Q] Nexus 4 with AOKP won't connect to Wifi, "WPS failed" error

My Nexus 4 isn't connecting to wifi. More specifically, if I am connected to a remembered network, my phone does not automatically reconnect when I leave the range then come back into it.
Now, there are 2 wifi networks in the apartment and I've tried both. I actually just "forgot network" on the last remembered network on my phone because I was trying to connect to the better one.
Since I've done that, I am unable to connect to wifi at all, because the only way for me to connect to wifi before was to restart my phone and have it automatically connect to the remembered network.
Now that I don't have a remembered network, I cannot connect to anything, and my Wifi page on my phone will not show any wifi networks available and it won't even give the option to turn on wifi or to refresh the list. I have to reboot my phone, making sure the wifi is off first (using the toggle on the dropdown notification menu), then I can at least refresh the empty list. When I refresh the list, it gives me an error, "WPA failed. Retry in a few minutes."
I need this fixed. I live in a basement apartment and my cell signal is usually unavailable while I'm home.
I was running the AOKP 4.3 milestone when I started having the problem, then went back to stock, put on a 4.4 nightly ROM, had the same problem, then went back to the same 4.3 milestone. Unfortunately, I didn't leave my phone on stock 4.4 long enough to see if the problem persisted there.
Is there anything I can do at this point before going through the process of bringing my phone back to stock again?
Thanks
Update: After restarting my phone some 20 or more times, I was eventually able to see the list of networks and put the password in for the new network. So I at least have wifi now because my phone automatically connects.
However, all the problems stated above are still the same. I lose connection and cannot automatically reconnect when I go out and back into range of the signal, and can only regain the connection when I restart my phone and it automatically connects to the one known network on reboot.
If there's any information or anyway to try to fix it, I'd love to know.
Thanks

"Failed to connect to network"

Lately I've been having serious trouble connecting to Wifi networks. This occurs both on my workplace network and home network. I have tried resetting my Network Config, but this didn't fix anything. The only thing I've found that will allow me to connect to Wifi is to restart the device - but I have to do this every time I want to connect to a different Wifi network than I was connected to previously.
One strange thing that happens with this is that when I disable Wifi - whether it be via quick settings or in settings - it doesn't actually disable Wifi. The toggle switches to off, but I'm still able to see nearby Wifi networks. The only way to fully disable Wifi is to enable Airplane Mode.
This has been happening recently since I performed a Factory Reset, flashed the latest factory image, and rooted.
Anyway, any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
UPDATE: Looks like switching from Automatic Wi-F- frequency band to 2.4 GHz fixes the issue, but that's not really ideal, as I prefer my 5 GHz network at home.
