Allshare Cast Dongle NEW firmware upgrade

There is a firmware update in the Samsung app store for the allshare cast dongle, available today. So far, there is a faster and stable connection established to the unit. Sound issues appear to have been resolved so far. Great update. I`ve not yet had time to test for lag. MUST HAVE UPDATE
1.Download update from Samsung market.
It will install automatically. Just keep waiting. After about 1 minute, it will ask to restart allshare cast in order to update. Accept.
2. It will then upload the firmware into the dongle, which in tend will be rebooted upon completion. Enjoy

Do you know if updating the dongle firmware will make the dongle be able to do the screen mirroring with other ROMs?
If I have to install the official stock ROM...update the dongle firmware and then install my personal ROM and works it would be worth it.
Just want to make sure if someone did try before.TIA.

Dongle should work with any rom as long as you are using a stock kernel

OTG issues on 4.2.1

Ok, So i got my 3G version! rooted and had busybox installed! everything else is stock!
I can't connect my USB flash (Fat 32) with is used to work on my Galaxy Nexus before, simply nothing happens when i connect it!
I tried installing Stick-mount and other OTG Helper but nothing worked! changing the cable(OTG) didn't help either!
Is this a common issue on this 4.2.1 specific version ?
anybody can confirm that it works or not?
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance!
OTG is working fine on my Nexus 7 wifi running paranoid android 2.99
I'm on 4.2.1 and can say otg working good. Not only flash drive, i can connect to my logitech wireless gamepad, my dslr, and mw modem.

Thanks all for replying.
@ucubz
Are you on STOCK rom?
Is there any app installed that allows you to use the OTG functionality or is it out of the box feature on 4.2.1?
I can't figure out what makes my nexus 7 3G Un-OTG-able!
Download StickMount from the Playstore.
Works verry nice!

Yes, right now I'm using stock with motley kernel. For mounting hdd or flash disk just download stick mount by chainfire. It will automatically mount your drive when you connect it.
As for logitech gamepad, its worked just fine, no need for additional apps.

i just flashed SmoothROM (4.2.1) the other day, and my OTG cable wasn't working until i installed StickMount. thanks!
Stock rom, stock kernel, rooted, OTG-usb cable, stickmount. Works great for read/write access and streaming media from external storage. Not all OTG-usb cables work. Try and find another or try your cable with another otg supported device.
Thank you guys! i guess I'll flash a custom kernel !!!
If it doesn't work for you on the stock kernel, I don't think installing a custom kernel will make any difference. Many, many people use OTG successfully with the stock kernel, including me. Before you go that route, try plugging in a usb mouse to see if it works. If not, I would suspect the cable itself. Any option to try the cable on someone else's device? Is Stickmount in your list of root allowed apps in your Supersu or Superuser app? Are you using the latest Stickmount? Do you have USB debugging on and are you connecting as an MTP device?

[Q] Screen Mirroring no longer working

I used screen mirroring with my Samsung Blu-ray player occasionally, and it stopped working when I upgraded to 4.3. I updated the firmware on the blu-ray and restarted the phone, but the problem persists. The phone will briefly connect (the blu-ray will say "Galaxy S4 connected), but then quickly disconnect. My wife's Note 3 is stock 4.3 and screen mirroring works fine.
I'm still using the MF9 bootloader, but have flashed the MK2 modem and the rooted stock ROM ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586586 ); I'm also using Wanam Xposed. My searches have led me to believe that screen mirroring won't work without a stock setup. Is that right? I was going to start flashing some other ROMs or some of my earlier Nandroids to see if that fixes the issue, but thought I'd ask about this first before undertaking that project.
Screen mirroring and root are a no go. You will need to return to stock unrooted for it to work. DLNA is the culprit here and disables mirroring while rooted.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if this is this new in 4.3? I was running stock rooted 4.2.2 and screen mirroring worked.

You must have been using a custom kernel that allowed you to do it while rooted because it shouldn't have worked on 4.2.2 either if you were rooted. Look into one of the custom kernels in the original development section to see if they support rooted screen mirroring. I know this was the case with the allshare cast dongle thingy. Not sure if it is also the case with a samsung tv or blue ray player.

Sadly, no. If you search the entire XDA forum, you'll find some in-depth discussions of the issue related to the Note and other Samsung phones. When I have time, I want to experiment more. I did try one of the modified kernels, but couldn't get wifi to work with it. When I have a full day to mess around, I might try going back to stock, seeing if it works, and going from there. But, everything I've read suggests the cruise350 is right, and rooting breaks screen mirroring. It definitely worked for me just before Christmas when I did a slideshow for some family of recent pix of our kids. I was on stock rooted 4.2.2 at the time. If you're able to revert back to MF9 (the last version of 4.2.2 released for Sprint) modem and ROM, it might be worth trying if you really want screen mirroring to work. But, what I've read tells me that I shouldn't have been able to do it on 4.2.2 either, so you might find that it doesn't work. If I come up with anything interesting with 4.3, I'll post here.
Yea, I I read that it bricks the phone if you try to go back to 4.2.2. I guess well just have to wait for someone to come up with a new 4.3 that fixes this issue. If I find anything ill let you know.
My question has been answered. I was going nuts trying to figure out why it wouldn't work after root
In case anyone missed it, this thread provides a solution to the issue:

Hi guys
I just picked up a Mad catz mojo cheap and want to root it. Unfortunately any links to the Superboot MMM³ rooting file that I have tried appear to be broken. I was wondering if anybody here could point me to a working file?

I sent my console back to Madcatz to get it done after having so many issues with the Windows USB drivers. Madcatz sucks at releasing updates but they sure are a nice group of folks otherwise. I am afraid Mojo will be for mods only very soon. The mod I have tried works great. You have to apply the work around to the stock image after that it works pretty well with root.

Thanks for the reply. I just found another way of doing it. Something called a towel root! As simple as downloading the file tr-1.apk(sorry, unable to post link) on your Mojo and running the program. Then download Supersu from the app store and all is good. I only wanted to root initially so I could use GMD to hide the soft keys at the bottom of the screen.
You can EASILY Root the MOJO by downloading towelroot V.1.0!!!!
You just download it, install, launch, and its a 1-click root away. Note- ONLY V1.0 will work. You can download it here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/oxrryya4ffs4w6u/tr-1.apk
Simply navigate to this thread using your MOJO's web browser, click on the link, and download.
need mm3 superboot files
modaco site is now down entirely, still need the files my son has just tried installing google tv and we just get a black screen :crying:

Re-Lock and Unroot. Is it Possible? Netflix Issues

Hi, first of all, I bought my Nexus Player just to watch Netflix. Since I live in Brazil, at that time Netflix App for Android TV was not available here. Then I had to root my device to get Netflix working. Now Netflix won't work or install again because I rooted my device just to get Netflix! It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
So, is there a way to make my Nexus Player "original" again, just like it was out of the box and be able to install / update Netflix again?
Thanks.
