TBA = To be announced
Anyway.. what does it means? . What will be announced? The update date or.. if they will be updated or. . The developing process will start? Anyone can help me with that?

you have actually given the answer, we can expect anything, an update date or at least the current status, or the cancellation of the update. ..

Got an update yesterday on my 10.1. Was hoping for lollipop but still 4.4.2. Not sure what the update did, it was only about 80mb. Seems a bit zippier but no other noticeable changes.

I hate how Android takes forever to updates OS. Wish I didn't get it.

The USA 5.0.2 update for the Tab S came out yesterday. This was over a month after it first came out in Korea, then other countries. This is a typical pattern for Samsung updates (other countries first, USA later). According to Sammobile, no Tab Pro 8.4 Lollipop update was released for any country. That leads me to think there will be no Lollipop for the Tab Pro 8.4.

Even over 2 years old Note 2 is getting lollipop, I would be very much surprised if Tab Pro variants won't get lollipop. It will get lollipop, in fact it will be direct update to 5.0.2 - http://samsung.youmobile.org/

Android compared to what? If you compare to Apple, they only release a major OS update once a year. Android does about 2 a year.
And all Android manufacturers are not the same. My HTC M8 has been updated to official Lollipop since January. A number of other Android devices were updated to LP before that.
Its Samsung you want to complain about, not Android. If you want the earliest Android OS updates, get a Nexus device.

If we do get Lollipop it's going to take time. Trinidad and Tobago just getting OC1.

But... they did release Lollipop for the NotePro 12.2 in Italy about a month ago. I believe it's virtually identical to the TabPro 12.2 except for its included stylus. The "Pro" line doesn't appear completely abandoned.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, a lot of U.S. carriers offer the Tab S line, but didn't offer the TabPro line. I could see that making the more recent "Tab S" a much higher priority.
The main thing we know for sure is that they're still putting out Lollipop updates for various devices on a regular basis. I wouldn't give up just yet.

Good point, but the Note Pro 12.2 uses an Exynos 5420 octa-core processor. The same one in the Tab S (all wifi models) and 10.2/12.2 Tab Pro. They all have the same processor, RAM, and screen resolution. So I assume its easy to port and test Lollipop between devices. The Tab Pro 8.4 and Tab S 8.4 LTE (US models) are unique in that they have a Snapdragon 800 and 2560x1600 resolution. The Note 3 and Galaxy S4 LTE-A (Korean model) have a Snapdragon 800, but lower resolution screen. They got Lollipop, but comments from developers on XDA imply it's not a simple port since the difference in resolution.

This is a higher end tablet! It should have been one of the first to get lollipop!
I already promised myself no more Samsung phones but I guess no more Samsung tablets for me as well. Even if 6 months from now they say "sorry" and do finally release it, its too late for me.

What's so big about lollipop that KitKat doesn't have? I mean it's not like the end of the world to still be on KitKat as it seems to be working fine. The bigger issues I have with this device is the so so battery life and the screen resolution almost seems too high sometimes. I also have a Galaxy Tab 4 8" LTE 800x1280 resolution and I find myself using its slightly more just because a lot of things scale better. Oh and the tab 4 doesn't have lollipop either.

I have lollipop on my phone and on another tablet, and there is not a single thing I miss about it on the Tab Pro.

I don't like Lolllipop, but a major update might improve the WiFi or battery life.
I also like the automatic priority alert system on Lollipop.

7 mths old and still no 4.4.3/4.4.4

So... do we start calling this tablet an "orphan" by Samsung? I didn't want to regret moving away from Google's "Nexus" line when I bought my TabPro 8.4, but... how long are we going to be stuck on 4.4.2?
It would be great if we got an upgrade to 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 along with some bugfixes. Since it looks like an HTC-built Nexus 8" tablet is coming soon, if by the time it comes out we're still stuck on "NG1 4.4.2" I might have to re-consider my options...
If anyone has any news on this subject it would be great to hear!
Also, out of curiosity, what version of Android is the Tab S currently at?

What exactly are you missing in 4.4.3 or 4.4.4? They both are pretty minor updates. All Samsung's high-end tablets from the N10.1-14 on are on 4.4.2 so no one has something you don't. People who put a high priority on updates shouldn't buy devices with an overlay.
is any Samsung device running 4.4.3? To my understanding the Tab S and Galaxy S5 are still on 4.4.2. The cosmetic updates in 4.4.3 won't be noticed since Touchwiz covers them up anyway. I read Samsung implemented the 4.4.4 security patches in it's own separate firmware updates.
Well, the webview enhancements in 4.4.3 improve performance of any app which uses webview.
Also, pretty sure I saw quite a few mentions of various other Sammy devices getting 4.4.3 firmwares uploaded onto sammobile.com which was starting to irk me.
As long as I get android L I'm happy

The biggest problem I have with it isn't the lack of an update, but the sluggishness of the OS. It's an octa-core processor with a 1.9gHz clock speed on four of them! Also the Wifi was better on my iPad 2 than on this brand new device!
Should've chosen something with a Quallcom processor, then I could have some decent custom ROMs...
A 4.4.4 update came out yesterday (9/10) for my T-Mobile Galaxy S4, so hopefully that mean it'll come out for the Tab Pro soon. The update does not update the UI. I'm not aware of a 4.4.4 update for other S4 and the S5. I believe T-Mobile pushed the update because it includes a new in-flight (airplane) text function/service they'll advertise next week.
Act of good faith

The issue in my opinion is the show of support from the manufacturer, giving us the latest update is a sign of good faith whilst not doing so, esp after 7 months shows they don't really care about tab pro users.
There is NO Galaxy Tab with Android >4.4.2 - so why do you moan they don't care about Tab Pro users when there is no newer version on newer tablets (e.g. Tab S)?

Once Samsung have your money they really don't give a damn about supporting your product.
My Galaxy W (i8150) was abandoned by them within 6 months of release and never received an update from GB to ICS even though similar age and spec models by them did.
The S3 has been dumped at JB 4.3 because they can't fit all their bloatware into the KK ROM.
The TabPRO seems to be EOL after less than a year.....
It's par for the course with Sammy unfortunately - which is why we are lucky to have such an amazing amount of support from Dev's on XDA.

I don't expect to be able to hold the 4:3 Nexus 8" tablet in one hand, like I do with my Tab Pro 8.4.
I also imagine it won't have an SD Card.
But the regular OS updates to seem tempting.
My hand gets tired very quickly when I try to hold the Tab Pro 8.4 in one hand, so I don't see the Nexus 8 being any different in that regard.
I'm only using 900MB of the 64GB SD Card in my Tab Pro -- 62GB free.
Reason is, there are barely any apps I can move to SD card, and even then there are side-effects like the icon won't stay on my home screen so I end up just moving them back to main memory. Also I have Google All-Access Music so I don't need to keep lots of music on my tablet. And for videos/movies, I use Netflix and PLEX so no need to keep videos locally on the tablet. So obviously, i'd be ok with a Nexus tablet without SD card slot. ( But I would still try to go for a 32GB+ )
Also, i have some minor build quality issues with my Tab Pro 8.4 -- in particular there seems to be some very minor "squeaky/creaky" noises when I touch certain areas of the touch screen or around the bezel. Not a serious issue, mind you, but in contrast both my Nexus S and Nexus 4 have zero build quality issues.
Hey, I saw on twitter today that the "T-Mobile" version of the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) is getting a 4.4.4 update soon!
Good news, right? Becuase it means the GTP version of that firmware update may be coming up soon afterwards. At least for the GTP 10.1" version.
Not sure about the GTP 8.4, it's pretty different from the Note 10.1 ...
I use link2sd app in the playstore great app, been using for a few years now. Native app2sd is not that great

Just use a custom ROM and you will have a newer version. I have already lost faith in Samsung for their software.
I have a new slogan for Samsung, "It is, what it is". You could follow that with "take it or leave it" I bought my gt p 8.4 with no expectation of any updates. If I get one I will be thrilled.

This thing runs almost as good as my Note 3 running Alliance.
I tried the Daydream ROM and it was VERY lite on system storage but it had issues with some of my gaming.
It's nice to re live the good old Game Boy Advance and N64 days on this huge high res screen...
The lack of a OTG USB controller puts my Moga Pro Power to great use.
I use my Note 3 to email the boss to let him know that I cant get to work until the ice melts.
GAME ON ANYWHERE
Is the latest always the greatest?
Not always!
Do you remember SD card disaster with 4.4.x?
Samsung has a great upgrade program. Every time a new version of Android is released, they release a new tablet running it.
But seriously, I'm not too concerned about 4.4.2 to 4.4.4. I would rather they develop a Lollipop release. Fine with me if they take a couple of months to get it right. I'll be needing it on the Tab Pro 8.4 and Note 10.1 (2014).

I agree but there is no other android tablet with s pen in that size and prize range.... next best thing is ms surface but that's something else completely.
The thing is, I use the pen for alot of stuff (drawing plans to rearrange our flat for example ) and alot of friends and family are totally intrigued by it. I can't imagine buying a tablet without pen after this... its a must have feature once you're used to it. Sadly there is no real competition...
Nevertheless I'm almost sure there will be a lollipop update for it reasonably soon (2-3 months). Unless samsung releases a note 10.1 2015 in the next 2-3 months then the update could be even later. But remember even the original note 10.1 got updated to KitKat!
It'll probably never happen...
So sick and tired of samsungs crap support. I am also sick of my Note 10.1 2014 just being "good enough" to get tasks done. I only use lecture notes for this tablet to annotate pdfs. With no lollipop in sight, I'm buying a surface pro 3 at the beginning of next semester to replace this tablet and my ultrabook. If i get real desperate for android, I'll use Console OS. Peace out sammy, if you have no interest in supporting your products, neither do I...

I thought it worth to let you all know that I am using Lollipop on a Samsung Note 2014 10.1(SM-P600) wifi only.
There is a thread on the android original development forum by RaymanFX. Its Cyanogenmod 12 which means its Touchwiz free and KNOX fuse is tripped.
More importantly however its miles ahead of KitKat- touchwiz in terms of responsivenes, snappines and fluidity.
There also is this article http://www.xda-developers.com/android/analysis-of-the-galaxy-note-3-android-5-0-leak/ and if all is well and truly as remarkable with Touchwiz- Lollipop then I would love to see this ported somehow to Samsung Note 2014 10.1(SM-P600) wifi and sister/brother models.
Adding all Apps from Samsung Note Pro 12.2 to such a port would be like phenomenal! I have donated before and would donate again on a project like that.

I have a Nexus 7 (the first edition). It received the Lollipop update last year and since then is almost useless due to lags and sluggishness. I also got the most recent update (L 5.02) which they claim it fixes N7 lags, but I did not see any improvement. Everything is slow, browsing is slow, booting takes minutes.
With this experience, I have no rush to update my Samsung tablets to Lollipop
Samsung should think about why their sales are going down... l hope this powerful device will get Lolipop but if not I think Samsung will loose aanother buyeri...
Poslano s tableta (tapatalk)
I guess I'm the only one still happy with my Note 10.1 2k14 edition. I'm running a custom ROM. I use the handwriting and s-pen functions quite a lot and don't imagine that I would be happy without those functions. My tablet still functions fine and is nice and responsive (not as fast as my Note 4, but also not as new). I'm really in no hurry for Lollipop on my device. KitKat runs fast and is stable for me.
It's time for Samsung to wake up. This is a modern world. We pay premiums prices for top-rated Samsung phones and tablets, and expect regular updates. We dont need to beg for the updates. The computing world changes rapidly, and samsung should follow suit. It's becoming clearer that Samsung cannot keep up with Google releasing free updates to free android softwares. It's becoming clearer that Samsung Tizen software will eventually be a useless OS.
Just out of curiosity . . Why is getting lollipop so important that people are willing to sell their tablets in shear outrage?

So long after lollipop 5.0 release and until now nothing official from Samsung about note pro update...
What a shame!
Considering Samsung rarely updates their tablets, I'm not at all surprised that we haven't heard anything.
Due to the numerous issues with Lollipop, that's probably a good thing. 5.0.1 is already officially out, so Samsung may very well be skipping 5.0 for not-yet-updated devices.
The Note 4 is going directly to 5.0.1 (possibly 5.0.2), with the Note 3 N9005 suspected to go that route as well.
The Note 3 N9005/N900 with identical hardware to the P905/P900 doesn't have Lollipop. Until that does, we won't be seeing it on our tablets.

well, i had already known that... with too many issue from 4.4.x and their issues with the S6 and other lolly poop issues, i expect august plus or minus a month. i hope it works better than kit kak, so i can replace the updated tablet's 4.4.2 with 5.0 and sell it for a profet.
I love meterial design. Hope this release will out soon
I had saw the usual sites saying it was coming but that was way back last year and hadn't seen any new info recently so I figured it was squashed. With all Samsung's phones getting updated now, I would assume shortly after summer too.
Yea, this device came out in April 2013. It is now May 2015, well outside the 18 month support window. Keep dreaming guys, ain't gonna happen.

Correct, but official Samsung Denmark said it will get, but depends on region by region. Also heard Note II won't be getting it, but Samsung Korea said it will be getting lollipop (depends which version of Note II).
so it is really hard to say if it is getting it or not, but I still have some hope, it may see lollipop.
Talking about CM 12.2 nightlies, it is buggy and its ugly, but that's personal preference of course.

Even if some region cant get lollipop, just flash the one that get it lel .
dont even talk about cm12.1, so many bug even at application level there's something unresolved yet. not to mention the screen glitch, camera & call. the worst part, sleep animation.
It would be great if they could get the official Lollipop release to our tablets, however the CM versions are pretty decent at the moment.
Except netflix doesn't work on any of them

Looks like Galaxy Note 2 will be getting Lollipop, if you think that, this device is released in October 2012, and our Note 8.0 released around April 2013, this may give us a little hope that our device may see lollipop, of course we never be sure for 100%, but at least there's still a little bit hope...

I hope we will be seeing lolipop for the Note 8.0. I love my Note 8.0 it is a excellent tablet.
it looks like it's canceled http://www.youmobile.org/blogs/entry/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-8-0-official-Android-5-0-Lollipop-update-Canceled-due-to-hardware-limitations

will the S2 Exynos (2015)edition get Nougat?

What do you think, will samsung limit Nougat on the S2 to the newer Snapdragon version of the tablet?
I dont think Samsung is going to have Nougat for S2. That will be in the Tab S3.
Yes, it's been reported that the T810 is testing and will be released soon.

As long as we have it by Easter, I will be happy. Nougat is awesome on my OnePlus 3 and the split screen mode will be great on the Tab S2.
Now this is interesting.

The rumours about Nougat is getting louder:
https://www.sammobile.com/2016/12/19/galaxy-tab-s2-running-nougat-surfaces-on-gfxbench/
My galaxy tab s2 wifi only (t710) is still in 5.0.2 on sammobile but thanks to flashing, I was able to get MM. Now I am worried that my tab s2 will not get a proper nougat update because the update rolls out only to LTE versions.
According to this source (https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-begins-rollout-of-android-7-0-nougat) the "Galaxy Tab S2 (LTE unlock)" will be included in the Android 7.0 update rollout for Samsung devices this year. Seems legit, considering it's from Samsung themselves
I think the S2 will get Nougat. It's just a case of when and how good it will be?
However, I also think that will be it. Absolutely no chance at all of getting Android 8.
Given my experience with Samsung tablets, I'm not even clear T813 will see an update to 7.x.
That would be 2 in a row for me (poorly supported Samsung tablets), and probably my last purchase from them.

Guys Tab S2 9.7 is getting Nougat soon!
According to many sources, Samsung has already made Nougat & is testing it now (nougat benchmarks seen on GFXBench).

The problem is, who else is making good spec Android tablets with Amoled screens? From my point of view, MM is running well and has been for the last 6 months. A Nougat upgrade would be nice, (especially for the multi window mode,) but I wouldn't loose any sleep if it wasn't updated. They do need to release a recent security update though.
As my experience with the One Plus 3 has been so good, I'd like to see them shake Samsung up by entering the tablet market. I know it wont happen but I can dream.

It would be a great thing for the tablet market to have OP enter. (maybe not great for the OP bottom line, as the tablet market seems to be stagnant.. still I think there is room for a Nexus-like tablet.. and Google seems to have abandoned that niche)

So it begs the question, what specs and how much would you be prepared to pay?
For me, take a OP3, put it in the tab S2 body and I'd happily pay £400 (~$450) all day long. Of course, it would have to be running OOS.

I bought a T813... hard to find a more expensive Android tablet
Coming from OP, I would expect it to cost less

Out of curiosity, how much did you have to give for it? I got my 32GB T813 as an impulse buy for $399 the other day, and while I've seen used ones for less, it felt like a decent deal for a new unit.
