[GUIDE] Return to Stock for Canadian HTC One M9 (2015) - One (M9) General

Similar to my return to stock for Canadian M7 and M8, here is the M9 thread!
Currently looking for Rogers, Telus, Wind TWRP Stock files, OTA.zips, and/or firmware.zip and/or recovery.img files!
This thread will be a WIP for a little bit to get the right information together.
Preface:
1. Knowledge of ADB/Fastboot commands. Can't save your phone otherwise!
2. Can read instructions. I dont believe in hand-holding.
Steps to Restoring Stock Firmware on your Canadian HTC One M9:
1. Download your respective nandroid TWRP backup from below:

How to backup your unmodified HTC M9:
TWRP Recovery to flash (do not use older versions) - twrp-2.8.7.1_CPTB-B1-hima.img - http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=13383
Backup using System IMAGE option.
3. Why is there a "System" backup option and a "System Image" backup option now?
The "System" option is the standard tar backup. The "System Image" option is only relevant if your system is unmodified. This allows you to make a fully stock backup that can be restored later to take an OTA.

Once your phone is backed up, reboot back into TWRP using reboot options, connect to your computer, and copy the TWRP folder from the phone to your computer. Zip up, and upload to google drive, mega, or any other location.

I will appreciate that!! There is however a particular way for Root/TWRP now..
TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/orig-development/recovery-twrp-touch-recovery-t3066720
You have to flash the TWRP-beta listed in the link above, make a backup, and then root (if you needed) ..
Do NOT use 2.8.5.0 TWRP..

Nobody out there to represent Telus or Robbers?

Yep, followed that process when I unlocked/rooted.
I foolishly backed up the nandroid on my friends laptop so I won't have access to it for a few days. Don't worry, I'll remember. [emoji4]

So do you know when you will upload that nandroid backup because I really need it now. I messed up my phone and you seem to be the only person with a backup of wind mobile. Hopefully you get this message and decide to upload it.

Once you are running versions higher than the ones listed for RUU, its no good.. Thats why TWRP is needed. I really hoped we would have more contribution than this though..

Yea it's a shame because I really need the wind nandroid backup urgently. Is there anyone that can save me, well except that one guy that has it. Where he go? IDK. Nice kind man or women that said they had it can you please upload it and link it to me please you would save the day for me.

I'm so sorry for the delay! Here is the wind nandroid for when I first got my device. I hope this link works for you all. I plan on keeping it up for about a month. Where would you prefer it hosted?

question
I have a question.. In other phones i was flash md5 (firmware)+Modem .. ¿I should do it the same thing ?

Mood questions
Can I just mount the system.emmc.win file to SD card and run twrp? Or do I need to you fast boot? Also do any one have a ruu or stock backup file that you can share? Is there Opj file avail ? I found one buts its developer edition I'm trying to get rid of the red writing that pops up when. My phone boots up "developer edition blah blah blah"

I have update second post with HOW to backup your HTC M9 using the modified TWRP..

I just purchased an M9 from Telus. It's on 1.32.661.6, lollipop 5.0.2, and I'd be happy to share my image.
To clarify:
1. Install TWRP and root
2. Make a system image
3. Upload
Should be right, right?
And it doesn't matter if I've done anything to the phone (installed an app, etc)?
Plus it comes with 'TELUS Featured Apps' and 'My Account' woot woot
And if I want to install the cm12.1 beta and go back to stock I just wipe and do the magic and it'll be exactly like I had it fresh?

[q] how to get back to stock (mytouch 3g 1.2)

Okay, I just want to get back to stock, froyo 2.2.1 OTA or whatever.
I'm tired of Gingerbread, and i would really like to just use whats really stable (Froyo) but ever since i've rooted my phone and flashed other roms every time i flash a Froyo rom (doesn't matter which one) it boots the 1st time perfectly fine(DreamTeam Froyo, NexTouch3G .ect), as for any other boot after that it doesn't boot it just hangs on the mytouch 3g splash screen, or goes to a black screen where you would think the boot animation would pop up. . . .
how ever i don't have this problem with gingerbread. . . ezGingerbread to be exact. . .
is there any fix for this issue? or even a clean way to get back to complete no root stock rom?

Very strange cause it developed for MT3G v1.2
Did you wipe data/factory reset before flashing?
You can monitor boot-process by running
Code:
adb logcat
It posts various info when phone is booting, you can see when it starts again, or something strange...
You can write log into text file then review it...
Code:
adb logcat > log.txt

I'll be sure to try that next time i change my rom. . . . well attempt to.
Yes i do wipe, i do the superwipe, i do wipe data/factory reset, i even go into storage and mount "system, data, cache" then format boot, system, data, cache before i flash a new rom, oh and go into advance and clear the dvilk-cache.
If you want to get back to stock, there's something I've been wanting to try.
Read everything carefully before doing anything
Download this: http://db.tt/94bZmJ0R
Get your phone running a rom with root.
Install a terminal emulator.
Install rom manager.
Copy the misc.img file you downloaded to your sdcard if not already there.
Run this command:
Code:
# /data/data/com.k*rommanager/files/flash_image misc /sdcard/misc-edited.img (or whatever its called)
You should now be able to flash almost any sappimg.zip from hboot
Download and flash the stock one. link
???
Profit!
Now time for the warnings (you listened and are just reading still, right? Haven't done anything?)
This in theory (based on MY knowledge of how this works, which I don't trust and you probably shouldn't either) should work. The misc-edited.img file is the misc partition pulled from my device and then hex edited (by me, the second time I ever used a hex editor) to have a super-cid (think goldcard) and a low main version. I don't see why it wouldn't work, unless I messed up editing it.
I cannot guarantee that this will work. I can't even guarantee it wont cause a brick, but if you really want back to stock, it's worth a shot.

tvall, as i understood, you edited misc.img with lower version (for RUU, that checks versions with own) and this file can used only for MT3G v1.2 ?

Yes, and the cid is edited to be 11111111 (so you can flash any sappimg, without making a goldcard)
I'm not sure if it'll work on anything, but there shouldn't be anything stopping it from working on 32b or 32a
LOL, I'm willing to try it, not too worried about bricking because honestly i feel like my phone is already semi brick with it not letting me run any other rom besides ezGingerbread. . . i feel bullied -_- .
My only question is how can i make a copy of my current file, so if **** hits the fan i'll have a backup to swap it back afterwards .

i think dump_image is in the rom manager files.. so do this

note: the * is there because im too lazy to remember or type the full path. itll work as i typed, but if you have another app with a name that also fits that(very unlikely), you should type the full path

41! . . . Cool, I'm going to give this a try next time my rom gives me a problem, or when i get another nice themed rom like NexTouch thats more updated and working right.
Pretty much my plan would be to . .
1. Unroot my Phone(Get it back to Stock)
2. Update it to the froyo 2.2.1(If its not already Froyo stock)
3. Root my phone
4. Flash the new rom(Which is a nicely themed & Stable Froyo Rom)

HTC One M9e -- HIMAR Bootloop after custom rom install...

Hi Guys...
I have no idea how you guys deal with these problems, and I take my hat off to you. Asking for help is never my first option, and this is what probably leads to more problems than a resolution. I have no choice. I have to send my pride to his room right now...sigh...

Under the impression that once the phone is in current state, I can install Custom ROM.
I loaded ViperOne unto Phone Storage and used TWRP Recovery to install zip. Install reported success and phone was rebooted.
Phone now stuck in reboot loop.
I may have made matters worse by erasing cache and deleting system folder, etc...
I did make a TWRP recovery backup. I have those files.
I've also downloaded numerous files, including 2PRGIMG_HIMAR_UHL_L50_SENSE70_hTC_Asia_TW_1.03.709.13_Radio_1.1506V24P52.2508.0910_HT[W.T]_release_454911_signed_2_4.
I get "invalid sparse file format at header magi" error when using..
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip rom.zip
Much thanks for any assistance offered...

What would be my solution? As of now, if I unplug the phone from the USB cable, it does not reboot, it's just there with a blank screen and a flashing orange light.

What he meant was your base firmware is on Lollipop and you are trying to flash a marshmallow rom over the top. They are not compatible.
You need to either flash a Lollipop based rom or update your "FIRMWARE" to marshmallow and then flash a marshmallow based rom (viper 4.3.0) over the top and it'll work.
You're s-off. You can flash unsigned zips to update to marshmallow. Simple and fast. (cid might cause issues and need changing temporarily).
Beamed in by telepathy.
Is the M9e (codename: HIMAR) even compatible with roms made for the M9 (codename: HIMA)? Since it already needs a different TWRP than the M9 I highly doubt that you can use the Viper rom on your phone.
Edit: I just googled the specs of the M9e. It's a mediatek device which means you definitely cannot use M9 roms.

Hi Guys..
Sorry for no reply... It's a leap year and leap years, mean pure problems.
I have backup files via TWRP on the PC. In TWRP recovery option, I do not see any Backups to restore, probably because I wiped everything.
Can I use the backup files on my PC to restore the phone?
Thanks...

[OFFICIAL 6.0 Marshmallow] XT1068 Stock Firmware with Stock Recovery(TWRP Backup)

Hello,
for anyone who needs the Stock Marshmallow ROM(Germany Retail DE) with the Stock Recovery you can use my TWRP Backup.
The ROM is OTA supported, because nothing is changed in this ROM from myself and the original recovery is included if you restore
System Version: 24.41.34.titan_retde.retdeall.en.DE retde
Build Number: MPB24.65-34

Hiya,
Edit: the link worked for me but I am still trying to figure out how to use this to restore my own German Moto G 2014. It would be just what I need to restore my Moto G (it's German and quasi-bricked with only fastboot working). Is it possible at all to use the backup to get the boot.img etc. for flashing a new installation on the phone? My phone currently has a locked bootloader, twrp and adb not working, and the standard response to flashing commands for boot.img and recovery.img is 'Preflash validation failed'...
Any help would be appreciated -- thanks for sharing the files!!!

Yes, boot twrp with the command "fastboot boot twrp.img" or any other image filename and restore it easily. But your phone must be bootloader unlocked..

No, just extract the ZIP on your PC and copy this in your sdcard folder of your phone in the Folder TWRP
The structure must be TWRP/BACKUPS/.... and so on
i ended up flashing lineage os and never looked back
Thank you!

I was looking for the Stock ROM to download and re-install it. However, in my search found 200-23-1 isn't really available online. Even firmware.center displays his only 7.0 version available as 200-22.
So... I'm willing to share the ROM with all people around, but need someone to tell me how :silly:
Side note: The phone isn't even rooted. Nothing.
Edit: Recovery displays as follows:
Android Recovery
motorola/clark_retus/clark
7.0/NPHS25.200-23-1/1
user/release-keys
Use volume up/down and power.

(Yes, the last lines are unnecessary, but why not? Hahaha)
I think you can try getting it from /cache folder in root, but it's possible only with root access or with file manager in twrp recovery and only when you get this update (for example you flash custom rom, then you restock your phone flashing available nougat firmware, after that you get that security update which will be downloaded in /cache, then just try extract it from that partition).
But:
I think it's not a fully signed image (because it's just an update) and it won't troubleshoot preflash validation issues and etc
After doing this, If you further try to restock your phone you'll get preflash validation error and you won't be able to fully restock your phone. Your bootloader will stay at status code 3 as unlocked.
If you still want to do this, just try and tell me, will it work.
This 7.0 NPHS25.200-23 file fixed it
