[FIX] Services.jar Patched For Color Fade Bug - Galaxy S6 Edge General

[ I'm posting this here in case it gets lost in the original thread ]
Attached is a flashable zip with a patched services.jar that fixes the color fade bug, one of the memory leaks introduced in lollipop
This is not my work, I just asked for a favor from @mikeyinid and packed it into a flashable zip, so you need to go Thank him if you use this.
We are very grateful Mikey.

.Just so you understand what the patch actually does... It doesn't help with the aggressive killing of apps we all know about. What it does do is keep the device from becoming unstable over time. There is another memory leak caused from something regarding music playback, there isn't anything I can do about that right now

P.S this is the services from VN ROM but should be compatible with most other deodexed ROMs with the same base (hopefully)
you can also manually do it by pasting the services.jar from the zip into system/framework and setting permissions then rebooting.
You should always make a nandroid backup before flashing any system files

How to this without flashing in twrp. Im on ocv and rooted with 0x0 knox. You said to set permission, how do i do yhis. Ty

Which file explorer do you use ? I use AntTek . download this if you don't have an explorer with root capabilities.
Extract the services.jar to the root of your internal memory from the zip file attached .
Then navigate to Device /system/ and click the overflow menu. Go to remount partition and the select R/W.
Then go back to the services.jar that you extracted earlier, select it the hit copy . and copy to /system/framework/ .
Once that has completed. Navigate to /system/framework/services.jar . hold your finger on there for two seconds and release and a menu should come up , go to the bottom and select change permissions and select tick boxes as follows:
User / read + write
Group / read
Other / read
Click OK
Reboot

it's from deodexed Rom..?

[MOD] Mods for odexed Stock ROM / official JellyBean XXLSZ

Hi guys,
as promised some days ago, I will provide Mods now for odexed Stock ROM XXLSZ.
Why? Because lots of people don't want to flash deodexed (Custom) ROMs for different reasons (odexed feels snappier or still want to be able to update via OTA or too much risk or whatever...)
Usually all Mods (like 4-Way-Reboot, Ink Effect, unlimited Apps for Multiwindiw, etc.) are ONLY made for deodexed ROMs - so you guys on odexed never benefit of these great customizations.
Now this will change and I will provide some of these Mods - as my time is limited, I will do this step by step.
Prerequisites:
- you have to be on odexed Stock ROM XXLSZ (e.g. flashed via KIES, ODIN or Mobile ODIN)
- you have to be rooted
- you have a working CWM Recovery installed
Installation Instructions:
- download flashable zip and copy on your SD-Card
- boot in CWM Recovery
- select and press 'Install Zip'
- select and press 'Choose zip from sdcard'
- select and press the flashable zip (e.g. '4WayReboot_odexed_XXLSZ.zip)
- select 'YES - Install 'nameof.zip'
- Mod will be flashed
- go back to main menu
- select and press 'Reboot System Now'
- you are done - so enjoy now
1. MOD --> 4-Way-Reboot
Download-Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?07j9q779ksiwxsx
How to use:
- press Power Button
- select 'Restart'
- now you will see these 4 options you can choose:
2. MOD --> Ink-Effect with any color (includes 4-way-Reboot also)
Download-Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?68d3vc8t5i8saf0
How to use:
- open App Drawer
- open App 'Ink Color Changer'
- check both options 'Ripple Effect' and 'Ink effect'
- open 'InkEffect color
- set color you like
- enjoy
Credits go to mythtrandyr for his App 'Ink Color Changer' to do all the settings inside with every colour in the world
3. MOD --> Center Clock in Status Bar (notifications NOT overlapping!)
Download-Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?gxqohtkc7husvy4
Download-Link (Undo this Mod): http://www.mediafire.com/?h5iaavabca7z37c
How it looks like:
Credits go to raubkatze for his HowTo

Don't you normally loose the feature of OTA updates when rooting with another Kernel (with CWM)?

I am not sure tbh...but you can have root with stock kernel and also CWM recovery running....the way Philz provided

- When I used MO when installing XXLSA I injected Root/CWM but was able to make the update to XXLSC with OTA.
- But when I install a Philz Kernel and activate the Software Updates I get the info that the kernel was changed (blablabla) and OTA isn't possible anymore.
So I guess that using the Mods by rooting the feature OTA shouldn't be important for a user.
I don't see why someone should bother if he have already done something like this - you simply download from Sammobile and you are GTG.
And yes - if you flash Philz you cannot do OTA.
eybee1970 - AWESOME!
Great support for odexed ROM.
Thanks alot eybee..

Hy eybee, is it possible to know the procedure,? I have been trying to do this myself but always end in boot loop? How did you Odex the file back? In the phone or pc?
updated OP with Ink-effect
does it still say after flashing the zip "android upgrading" after every restart?

you have to be VERY careful in odexing back! It does NOT work when you take a given jar with all mods included and trying to odex back --> ends up in bootloop as you know (though you will no see any errors in odex back process!). So you have to start modding from scratch...
Got it... Flashed it and works perfectly... Is there a way to go back to normal reboot options(no 4 way reboot)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Yes. I am doing it from scratch by using the services.odex
. So while smaling back, I covert it to classes.dex?

just use the tool --> 2. Decompile all Odex --> then do the smali editing --> then 4. Deodex all --> then rename to classes.dex in Folder 7. --> then take original jar, open with WinRAR (or 7zip) and copy classes.dex inside --> then move this jar to Folder 01 modded files --> put original jar and odex in Folder 02 original files --> do 5. Reodex All --> in Folder 03 odexed files you'll find the modded files ready to flash

Airview is already build in second mod...not for gallery but the general one...just did not mention
EDIT: I will do some mods for apps also, but will do that with deodexed apps, as some apps make trouble to reodex (did not find proper solution til now...)
The script in flashable will contain commands then for deleting the associated .odex file - but there will always be a 'Undo Mod' so you can easily restore to stock, if you don't like

Same question, came installed with stock based ROM and doesn't allow other apps to mod the battery icon.

if you have the zip file for this mod and it's flashable open it up and check all the places the zip would have sent files to. you can do this by looking in the system folder inside the zip.
if you mount your system partition as read/write either from recovery or terminal emulator you should be able to delete those files. the problem is whether any original files where overwritten, or whether they were made into bak files or copied to folder. if they were overwritten you'd get problems. best thing to do is check with the author of the mod in it's thread for removal instructions. chances are a search of the thread will lead you to where this answer is already given.
if you're lucky the answer won't be to restore the backup we should make before flashing any mod...

Custom boot animation jarvis

Hey anyone know of an awesome looking jarvis boot animation, ive got my phne set up like jarvis and this is the last step im issing the one i saw for the s4 wasnt as nice as i hoped. there is a nice one for S3 but does anyoine know of one i missed anuwhere
Why don't you try and make one yourself. They're not that hard, especially if you can find the animation you like. Just download a bootanimation.zip, extract it and see what's inside. It'll be pretty self explanatory what you need to do. If you have questions I can help you.
Edit, if you have a link to the s3 one you like let me know. I'll download and let you know what you need to get it to work on the s4.

Do you have a file manger like root explorer ot anything? You'll need to change the permissions to rw-r-r of the zip file you put in /system/media
Just put the *.ogg file in, not sure the sound will work or not on the s4
Edit, also make sure the file you copied to /system/media is re-named bootanimation.zip

Flashable apps(flash any apps into your internal or system storage)

This patch is multi devices and multi roms, you can use it on any roms, this patch will allow you to install apps/games into your internal storage, not just in system storage. This patch very useful if you like doing flashing/changing rom, you don't have to install apps/games manually, one by one like before, with this, you just flash it in the recovery that you've installed all apps that you always use on previous roms...
How to use it ?
- Download the patch from here
- Extract it : You'll find these folders
> data/app
> META-INF/..../updater.script
> system/app
- If you want to install your apps in internal storage, put your .apk files inside "data/app"
- If you want to install your apps in system storage, put your .apk files inside "system/app"
- Repack the zip, then flash in the recovery
- Don't forget to wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing...
- Enjoy
If you like this patch, don't forget to press THANKS button
Great work bro.... It will be useful for those who like to make a mod or app ported but they posted through root explorer, as an example (rw-r--r--) LOL , I'm sure many who download your work even though no one comments. here as it.

excellent... I may look into modifying to add "system/priv-app" as an option [emoji106]
update: modding not required as /system includes /system/priv-app from updater.script point of view ~ just had to add a priv-app folder to paste apks into

yes, you can add everything inside system folder, not just app in system/app or system/priv-app, if you had a mods in the other folder(in system/etc for example), just make folder "etc" inside folder system....

@ankrishx18 if you have that tar.md5 rom stored on your phone or memory card temporarily delete the last part of the file extension so it's just romsname.tar instead of romsname.tar.md5
from there you'll be able to open it with zarchiver https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.zdevs.zarchiver
and then extract/copy the apk from /system/apps/
you'll need to be rooted though in order to paste it into your own /system/apps/ folder and change it's permissions to 644 aka rw_ r__ r__ and then reboot.
if you have it on your PC you could try renaming it romsname.zip but I don't know if that will work (never tried it). don't forget to put it back to what it should be after
@3mel I just found this inside in system.img which was present in "rom.tar.md5"
when i try to open system.img with pc it gives me an error "The disc image file is corrupted"
and no system apps is visible inside this img
my bad I forgot that it's not like a zip would be inside.
there are 2 tools you need to open roms on PC and that's something I don't do so I can't remember the name of them. I'll see if I can hunt down the apk for you instead, but as I don't know what the original file size it should be this could be dodgy...
are you rooted ? and what version are you on ? I'll see about downloading a small custom touchwiz rom and extracting it from there for you if nobody else jumps in to help.
having trouble using the attachments here...
uploading this one stupid file took me 3 times longer than downloading the 1.1gb rom
https://www.dropbox.com/s/5rzfbgt3vuv9iia/SMusic.zip?dl=0 here is a zip file to the SMusic.apk file taken from a i9500 lollipop 5.1.1 rom that can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9500-develop/rom-98-5-1-1-based-ale95-v2-t3304828
you need root to put this back into /system/priv-app/
permission will probably be 644 aka rw_ r__ r__ you'll need a root capable file browser to paste it and change the permissions. if pasting doesn't work you might need to mount system first which you can do with the terminal emulator app.
Code:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
if needed this will let you paste into the system folder. just press enter after each line then use the file browser
reboot afterwards and test. if that doesn't work the mod you tried may have changed some library files.
