[Q] Searching for login details to motoactv.com for motoactv - Other SmartWatches

Hello, I just bought a new motoactv.. But I now see, that because of the fact they shut down Motoact, I cant create an ID. and therefor I cant use the watch as it is. I could root it, but I dont think it will give me the functionality (advanced interval for running) as it can now.
so..is there anyone who can give me their login as they dont use Motoactv.com anymore?
Would be highly appreciated!!

Yeah, but since the pc doesnt recougnise the watch as a USB storage device, and WIFI cant be installed, I never get to create an account. I now have the account details of the person where I bought it from, but I suppose I can as well throw it away, Motorola doesnt give support either.

Stop adbd shell in your watch.
Easiest way - via MotoACTV Root Tool from http://www.cleardroidroms.com/motoactv.php

This is initial release or first maintenance version. A really old software.
Update your Motoactv to latest and root only after that.
Keep in mind that versions for 8Gb and 16Gb are different. Choose firmware only for your device.
OR
Install Motorola Device Manager from here https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481
Plug in your Motoactv.
MDM has to check it and upgrade to latest (but I have no idea, will it be correct as I have never seen such old firmware like yours)
'Advanced functionality' won't be enabled with root.
Interval training can be enabled/planned via Motoactv portal.
So, upgrade your watch, add new wifi from settings -> wireless, then register new account, go to http://motoactv.com
Voila.

Problem is, when I run motorola device manager, it only says, no updates and at device it says "N/a"? So no clue how to get the latest software on it.

Uninstall Motorola Device Manager.
Install this version - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9ZhejL5ANmGQjdreG5jR3YybTg/edit
2.4.5 definitely had correct drivers.
Check that battery on your watch is fully charged.
MDM has to detect your Motoactv correctly, search for software and upgrade it,
If it won't - look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1534073
3) Fastboot:
- Operating System: Windows/Linux/Mac
- Instructions (Windows): Unpack the zip, run flash-all.bat (if it fails, run as administrator)
- Instructions (Linux/Mac): Unpack the zip, run flash-all.sh (it should already have proper permissions)

Links are in the first post.

at the end, I got it working. Even wifi, although that was on ly a few times, since then I cant login anymore. I am about to sell the watch, as its realy bad in GPS for running (as it was bought as running watch), so I will just sell it as smart watch. But then I do need some apps installed on it. But when you install one app, its full, now trying to get it to install on the SD memory, but again.. not so easy!

Devs Need volunteers that are using 1.5

This is a call to arms for anyone still running 1.5 on their eris. We (developers) need people to capture the update process using wireshark (or an equivalent). This is needed for a new root attempt, but sadly all of the devs have already updated to 2.1 so we can't do this.
First go here and download the RUU:
http://www.pcdphones.com/downloads/Eris%20MR1.zip
Next you need to go to verizon's website and login to your account. Click "Suspend/Resume Service" and suspend your phone. You can resume service on the phone after you are done here with no penalties or charges.
Please follow these directions, taken from the first root thread
bftb0 said:
Steps:
[Binny knows this, but if anyone else is reading, it is the same as a factory reset - you will lose all your settings and apps (but not the contents of the SD card)]
1) Unpack the 1.16.605 RUU - by running it as if you were going to actually do the RUU using the USB cable and your host PC, but stop right before you would apply the update to the phone. Pull the "rom.zip" file out of the temporary area that the RUU installer unpacks.
(Poke around under C:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\??? (I can't remember - you'll see folders with names that look like registry entries). You have to do this while the RUU installer is sitting there waiting for you - if you cancel the install, it will nuke everything it unpacked. I just made copies of the entire subtrees.
2) Cancel the RUU install.
3) Move the ROM.ZIP file to the root folder of your SD card, and rename it PB00IMG.ZIP
4) You can cancel the RUU install session on the PC, and unplug the USB cable if you want (so long as you have a well-charged battery!)
3) Power down the phone, and boot it back up holding the Call and End buttons simultaneously
4) Scroll down (or whatever it asks) to go from Fastboot mode to HBOOT mode
5) The phone will automatically discover the PB00IMG.ZIP file, and unpack it and verify it.
6) It will ask you if you want to install; when you (select and) enter Yes, the phone will reboot, and come up again - appearing as if it is repeating the same thing. This time, however, it won't stop and ask you - it will just begin the install.
7) Wait... Wait... Wait... Wait... and then wait some more. If I recall correctly, it seems to hang a little bit at the HTC splash screen after the reboot. That is normal - just WAIT and let the phone do it's thing.
That's it, except for:
8) You probably will want to dial *228 and choose option 1 to complete the programming of your phone - it will reboot after it completes.

After you are done, DO NOT start the OTA update that it prompts you to do.
Now we are going to install wireshark and setup the capture environment:
Download wireshark from http://www.wireshark.org/download.html for your versions of windows
Install it - make sure you also install WinPcap
At this point you should turn off any wireless encryption on your router. I know it's not necessary but it makes it easier to go through the captures.
Setup the wireless on your phone to connect to your wireless router and turn off your mobile data connection.
After you have turned off the wireless security on your router, we are going to start the wireshark capture.
Run wireshark - if you are on vista or windows 7 make sure to run it as an administrator
Click "Capture" then "Interfaces"
Click "options" next to the interface that your computer has an IP for
Make sure to check "Capture packets in promiscuous mode"
In the Capture Filter box, type "host <ip_address>" where <ip_address> is the ip address your router gave your phone
Make sure that "Automatic scrolling in live capture" is checked so you can ensure the capture is working
Click "Start"
At this point, you should browse the web with your phone. You should see lots of stuff scrolling by in the wireshark window.
If there isn't, you messed up something above and should try again.
If there is a lot of stuff scrolling by, continue:
Close the browser
In wireshark, click "Capture" then "Restart"
Reboot your phone
On your phone, go to "Settings" -> "About Phone" -> "Check for Updates" and go through with the OTA update
After the update is done and your phone is rebooted, go to wireshark and click "Capture" -> "Stop"
Then click "File" -> "Save As" and give it a name.
Upload that file to Megaupload, or Mediafire, or some other file sharing site, or any private server that I can get access to.
After you have uploaded the file please message me through the forums with a link to the file.
Thanks a ton.
e-mail me at [email protected] i got my wifes phones todo this to shes still on 1.5
NO need to have a average user do this, guinea pig yourself and roll back down to 1.5 it can and has been done by other devs.
Isn't there a "logcat" line you can run through adb to get the same thing? Like, when the update is available, you can plug your phone into your computer, connect it to terminal using adb and run a logcat to find the address of the update.zip

We don't need the location of the update file, we need all the extra network traffic that surrounds the OTA process.
Ah. My bad.
We need to know, exactly, how the update process works.
I'm currently working on downgrading 2.1. Will post back a tut if i get it working
Can't we create an AVD to run with a custom rom and use the Eris MR1 ROM to do it?
Scratch that. I don't think AVDs will get OTAs.

No need to go to all that trouble. I've already posted a link to the OTA update (1.16.605.1 -> 1.17.605.1) in this XDA thread a couple of days ago. Just copy n' paste into your browser's URL bar. I'll repeat it here for grins.
https://android.clients.google.com/updates/partner/desirec-ota-104882.7b1e5cca.zip
(You might get a browser security warning as that server uses the wrong (google.com) cert.)
Let me know if the above link no longer works - I suppose I could repeat the OTA thing - I am not on 2.1
The OTA process drops the downloaded zip file into /cache, and somehow during reboot, it's presence is detected. If it "only" needs to be dropped in there, or there are some other hooks that need to be present at the reboot, I am not sure. I say "only" because that implies that root privilege is needed to do that - or perhaps it is possible to use "fastboot update" after rebooting the phone with $ adb '(sync; reboot -n oem-78)' The OTA zip file is not signed the way the RUU "rom.zip" files are; it uses the same signing methods as app (.apk) files - the SDK "jarsigner" method.
You can unpack the zip file and look at what it does - there is a script at
META-INF/com/google/android/update-script
which controls the update... and there is a binary patch executable included in zip which is called upon to do file-by-file binary patching.
cheers

Thanks for the info bftb0, but we aren't looking to snag the OTA file. We are actually trying to see what communication goes on between our phones and the verizon update servers.
FYI,
When you roll back to MR1, the phone seems to have already grabbed and downloaded the OTA update... in less time than it takes to hand-configure the phone. If you want to observe the OTA process via wireless, you need to prevent the phone from having Mobile network access, since that comes up by default after a FR or MRx rom burn.
Here's a long shot. Perform the MR1 rollback inside a cell dead zone, and conduct a MIM attack by setting up a server on the wireless net so the phone downloads a different OTA zip. You control DHCP for WiFi, so you also in principle control the DNS and routing the phone sees via WiFi. In principle, it's not possible because https should prevent Man-In-the-Middle... but if that (Google) server isn't correctly configured, maybe the phone is not really being too careful about certificate problems. (Either that or the Google server is tuning its' responses based on UA strings).

Sorry, my bad. I didn't read carefully enough.
I could probably attempt what you are asking for - I am quite familiar with wireshark (and even hardware sniffing of WiFi, so long as you have the right nic), but the fact that the phone seems to go and look for updates immediately after a FR or MRx update means that the "check for updates" thing may not do anything useful for you if there is already an update on the phone waiting to be installed by the time you start pressing menu buttons. (Thus the idea about "do MR1 in a cell dead zone")
Beyond that, there is a possibility that the update app does not do a wildcard host bind() when it sets up the socket when it inquires about updates with the Verizon servers - for instance, MMS service works exactly that way (it will only use the mobile network interface), and precisely so because of security considerations. Do you know whether or not any of the update conversation actually traverses WiFi if the mobile network is turned off?

You can force updates to occur over WiFi if the mobile network is turned off. Do you think this would work:
1. on 1.17 do a factory reset but do not activate the phone.
2. Initiate the downgrade process
2a. while downgrading, turn on packet capture
3. When the phone boots back up and wants you to call a number to activate, hang up
I think if you can skip the activation the phone will not have a mobile data connection, which would allow you to turn on wifi and initiate the update process.
Im still on 1.5 PM me and ill help if needed
Do you guys still need this?

How to enable non-market apps

I was playing around with my flipout and thought I'd share
You can use the method described in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=738376 to enable non market apps in the flipout. The only difference is that you need to go to cd /data/data/com.motorola.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
using something like SQLlite to edit this file, change the value of the field: force_only_market_apps from 1 to 0.
Hope this helps

You have couple choices...

2. Root your att phone and use "adb install xxxx.apk" to install your non-market app.

this method does not work on locked flipout, like the AT&T one, among other. I just though I would share how I was able to root and side load apps even without changing any data files.........
First and foremost...i used this app as I have a Sony Xperia X10.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
I would suggest using version 0.2.8 as the newer version, which is what I have, asks you multiple times what device is connected, and since this flash tool is for the Sony Xperias's, it only gives you the option of the five different versions that are out now. I just kept suing the X10, as that is the phone I have on hand.
With this tool, I was able to Root the Flipout with just a click, and also use the newer version (0.2.9.1) too install apk's. ( sorry, so let me correct myself, download the latest version, and just continue to choose X10)
ALL CREDIT IS TO GO OUT TO THE DEVELOPERS OF THIS FLASHTOOL BIN4RY AND ANDROXYDE.....DONATE TO THEM IF POSSIBLE
It worked for me and I hope theres a way soon to be able to flash this flipout to be able to atlease remove all the clutter at&t apps, and non essential apps, like motoblur, AND have everything working, atleast for my fellow US AT&T and T-Mobile users........

Galaxy S2 - Bunch of Questions

I have a few questions regarding Kies, Contacts, and USB mode to all the pro's out there -
I only get the following option when I connect the phone to the PC Settings --> USB Mode--> USB Mass Storage. Is this normal or should there be more options offered such as - Kies, PC Studio, Mass Storage? The Galaxy S (Captivate) offered a prompt as to which mode you wanted to connect the phone in whenever it was plugged in. I don't get any option like that. As soon as the device is plugged in (in idle mode) a window pops- up --> MTP Application - Connected (Press the home key to quit Samsung Kies)
Is there a specific way I need to connect the phone in to Kies? Kies displays only 2 options to me -
Add file to GT-I9100
Add folder to GT-I9100
I have tried 2 different computers, but its the same on both of them. I am using Kies version 2.0.1.11053_99 (which according to Kies is the latest version)
Display Options under Contacts shows only Phone and Google. it does not display SIM. I have already reset the phone once. Do I need to do something else? Since I am new to the forum, I am unable to add any screenshot links. But if someone can help me, I would gladly PM them the screenshots. Or you could look at photobucket for my album under nit407.
Thanks for your help.

Ok OP, in order for Kies to see the GSII you need to be on kies mode.
Make sure first this box is unchecked, go to: Settings=>Applications=>Development=>USB Debugging make sure this box is unchecked and then re connect your GSII into your USB cable and open Samsung Kies, it will recognize it immediately.
Good luck.
And make sure you're using the TWLauncher, not a 3rd party launcher.

You can not add contacts directly to the SIM card, neither can see them unless you have copied them to Phone memory/Google. But I have heard that the SIM option is now included in latest 2.3.4 firmware, but as I am yet to test it can't confirm.

My KIES doesn't work anymore ive asked the question a few times but no one seems to know why, ive done what you've said (Settings=>Applications=>Development=>USB Debugging), ive tried on 3 different browsers, a couple of different internet connections, turned off firewall, etc, etc but every time it just times out when i try and connect on my laptop, it has only ever worked once for me, im running cognition 1.15.
I don't find KIES a necessity but it would be nice if it worked (and to find out how to get it working!!)

I dont know if it is the rom problem or what,,,but many users with stock rom also had this problem,,,,just uninstall kies,,,then delete the remaining kies files(there are files left even after uninstallation in the kies folder),,then reinstall the latest kies,,,conecct ur phone to ur pc(usb debugging unchecked)it ll reinstall ur phone's drivers,,and all should be fine then.
there are many complaints of kies not working fine on laptops,,,but if u use a desktop it ll definitely work...
Hope that helps.
Godspeed.

Thanks guitarmafia. I am trying this on my desktop now. Regarding firmware upgrade, when I click on "Check for Updates", I get a message "Connection to Server Failed". I am in the US with an unlocked S2 from India. Would that be the reason or just because Samsung hasn't release the new version officially yet. Any idea?

Desktop also doesn't work This was a clean install on a different machine. Any ideas or suggestions?
When you guys are connecting to Kies, do you chose from an option as to how you want the phone to connect?

U should use Odin for the firmware upgrade....Kies alwayz had issues,,,for some it works fine,,while for others it never worked,,,IMO it has something to do with Win7,,,some ppl claimed it works fine on XP SP3....I tried a million times on Win7 to upgrade but it alwayz failed,,,,moreover it may brick ur phone(u cant alwayz be lucky)...u can claim warranty,,,,,but why to take risK??

Root 4.4.2 HP Slate 7 Extreme

Update5/19/2015 : Kingroot Apk worked on my 4400US model with latest Android 4.4.2
Direct download link:
http://mmgr.myapp.com/myapp/Kingroo...oot-4.0.0.233-release-201505071219_105001.apk
---------------------------------------------
The steps below work on Windows 7 (Not sure if will work on Windows 8.. If so let's us know) Make sure you have Administrator Rights to install software and run executable programs etc.
The HP Slate 7 Extreme has a few different models; mine is the 4400us and I am rooted with the steps in this guide, if you have the 4400us this guide should work for you. If you have a different model it may or may not work (one person couldn't Root their 4407ra). If you could let us know either way that might help others.
It is always a good idea to remove any android software from your PC before using that PC to minimize software conflicts {with the exception of Android Debugging Bridge ( ADB )... It might aid in windows finding device drivers (see link below in steps if needed)}
Make sure you have done BOTH system Updates on you Tablet! From 4.2 to 4.3..... Then from 4.3 to 4.4.2!
(System updates can be found in Settings/About Tablet)
Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your HP Slate 7 Extreme... (This is very important)
(to do so you will need to Enable THE HIDDEN "Developer options”...
Go to Settings/About Tablet then start tapping on the " Build number" line! (No I'm not kidding)
After a few taps you will see on screen messages counting down how many more taps needed to be a Developer... Just keep tapping till done.
Then go back to Settings Menu... Scroll down to bottom and you will see "{} Developer options” open it and enable "USB debugging" by checking the box.)
Turn on install from "Unknown Sources"
(Found in: Setting/Security)
Also.. disable any lock screen that requires pin, password, Face Unlock, or pattern
I turned my screen timeout to 30 min so it doesn't sleep etc
NOW LETS ROOT .....
Download Moborobo http://www.moborobo.com/
Download Shuame's ROOT Genius http://www.shuame.com/en/root/
Install Moborobo & Run Program
Plug Tablet into PC with it's factory USB cable
Your Windows PC should start looking for and downloading drivers (look down in Windows notification area by clock..click on the icon that is searching for drivers so you can see when finished
...don't worry if one of them says failed)..
just let Moborobo find and install needed drivers etc
note: you will see something you need to authorize on Tablet screen.. so do so!!!!
Now look in notification pull down panel and you should see that Moborobo installed an app on your Tablet... Click to open once then just hit the home button once on Tablet.
[Might help to watch fist 1 minute & 37 seconds of this video only!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5SsjnmV7J4 It a Guide for rooting a different Tablet... But it will show you how to use Moborobo.
...(DO NOT use the older Shuame root tool shown in the rest of YouTube Video!!!!!!!!!)]
[...if still not working (and you have authorized the security popup on Tablet screen mentioned above).. head over to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790 and install the minimal adb client on Windows 7 and try process again]
Once your ready to move on.. ( Meaning: Moborobo sees your Tablet..) NOW run ROOT Genius (just Minimize Moborobo)
Root Genius will do it's thing (your Tablet Will Reboot during Process)
Profit (you are Rooted)
Use "ROOT Checker Basic" free in Play Store to ensure you are Rooted!
Note: Root Genius installs a super user app called "Kinguser" during the root process.. (which is also an app backup tool and has tool to disable apps from automaticly starting).
Per Jupiter683:
"If anyone has the Beats Audio Edition and they want to root, Towelroot works like a charm!"
Hit Thanks if I helped!
Screenshot 1
Used "Root Checker Basic" app to confirm Root Access granted.
Screenshot 2
Used "Xposed Installer" with Kit Kat Gravitybox module to tweak quick settings tiles...
Screenshot 3
This is the Super User app Kinguser that is installed during the Root process.
Please Note: that as of the date of this post.. there is NOT a custom Recovery for this Device. Do Not use any Recovery from other Devices like the Tegra Note 7 (you will brick your device). So that means don't use apps like Flashify etc.
We only have Root at this time using the methods in opening post. If you know of other Root methods please share info... I will add it to opening post.
Failed the process 86%
Hey there, I have did all process how you have explained... But always failed in 86%.... Do you know what can be the problem? Thanks a lot...

What Windows OS are you using? I used Win 7 to root.
I just rooted a 2nd Slate 7 Extreme.. got the wife one as well... And all worked well.
I have made Opening Post easier to read... And added troubleshooting steps throughout the guide to aid during Rooting Process.
Root .. failed
I couldn't get it to work either, goes through a lot of reboots and the says :
"Such a tough phone!"
Root ...failed"
Maybe it works on a partciular region of Slate 7 Extreme ? I'm in New Zealand (probably same tablet as Australia)

I looked at both tablet's specs online and they are identical. Are you updated to KitKat 4.4.2

Another thought.. Did you enable the "Install from Unknown Sources".. reason I ask is because thought out the process of rooting.. it needs to install a couple apps on your Tablet (which you can remove after rooting)?
Hello! Just wondering, will this work on a 4.3 Slate 7 Extreme?

Yes.. should work fine for 4.3... however...I would update to 4.4 before rooting.. if you can... so you don't have to go through process again to move to 4.4 later.
Great! Just tried your method and .........It worked like a charm! Just one last question; is it possible to install a recovery mode of some kind? Ideally, I'd like to make a nandroid backup.

No recovery has been made for this device to my knowledge.
Do not try a different device's recovery... I recently bricked a device doing so!
This worked!! I did it on my 4.3 tablet, so easy! Thank you justjayhere! :good:
