[Q][N910F] Is there a list of applications that are safe to be removed/deleted? - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It seems that there is no thread yet about a list of applications that can be safely deleted/removed from Galaxy Note 4 [910F] . Would there be someone out there kind enough to make the list?

This is what i disabled.

I know it's a different version to our phone, but the list should apply to our phone too.

Also by just Searching on Google, no need for a new thread about this, here https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=note+4+apps+safe+to+remove

Remember GOOGLE is your best friend,
cheers:fingers-crossed:

Thank you for all the replies. For those of you who were so kind enough to post links...yes I've been there and aware that Google is everyone's friend. However there are some apps in that list that my device does not have and there are some apps in my device that is not in that list. Best explanation is that list as the title states is for Sprint. I am also wondering about the completeness of that list as FB, Instagram are not included in that list which obviously can be removed without any ill effects to device. There are still more apps that I'm quite sure that can be removed but I'm just hoping someone would provide a list just to confirm, hence the thread.

I know alot of phone sections have a list of these, being we dont have ROM's readily available to us yet, it would probably be a good idea to compile a list of things that can safely be frozen / uninstalled from titanium backup, not just including the regular bloat, i have just started messing around with mine, so if anyone would like to share i will add them to a list in the OP.

circles is disabled but always shows in my running apps? Any idea why, I know there is a weather service associated with it but idk if disabling that would disable weather all together

Existing thread on this already, for circles to not show up just uninstall it and its associated config extension

Official KitKat Bloatware Removal Thread

Hi All,
Now that most people have installed the OTA KitKat and knowing that this will be the last update Motorola makes for our phones, I thought it would be a good idea to make a collection of all the system bloatware that came with the OTA that is able to be removed safely without affecting the performance or running of the phone (either frozen or deleted for those of us lucky enough to be unlocked and already rooted). Lord knows I have been waiting a long long time to delete these apps and not just have them frozen! I'll keep a running list in the second post, hopefully in alphabetical order, as people post up any that I have forgotten about or didn't think of.
Again, this is just a list of everything that is safe to remove if people don't use the apps / functions, not necessarily things that have to be removed.
...there's nothing like freeing up memory and RAM 8)
EDIT: The hard ones to pick out are gonna be all the "com.***" ones since they're not quite as self-explanatory...

Like I said, they are removable but some people will want to keep them. Personally I keep the YouTube, but use a scientific calculator app and don't use live wallpaper.
Ah I see, I didn't think those were removable. I thought they were system apps.
You're right, they are system apps, but can be frozen and for those of us lucky enough to be unlocked and rooted on KK they can be deleted (using TiBu or some other method). Everything listed above is considered a "system app". But, the list is not comprehensive.
That's why I was looking for input for some of the more not-as-obviously-named removable apps. I know there was a list floating around somewhere, I had a bunch of stuff frozen from that list whilst on JB. But now that our phones are not going to be updated any further (and if there is a surprise update that comes to us, we can put the phones back to "stock" using SamuriHL's RSD Lite scripts), I'd like to delete them permanently.
Just an update - I was able to safely remove the all-important NFL Mobile app without hardbricking
Guys, I'm sorry to crash this thread, I'm locked and on 9.18.64. Since your all rooted and unlocked, I was wondering if anyone of you would be willing to give SamuriHl a freshly installed and rooted system dump using the safestrap method he outlines in the KitKat root tracking thread? I'd like to be a guinea pig for this one chance root experiment. That's the only missing piece ATM.

Ah, yes. How could I miss that one. Added, thanks!
Would love to help @MarcusWhite but I do not have SS installed. I also am a pretty big noob about these things, I can'do much past rooting/unlocking/custom ROMs.
Also I found another bloatware - HP Printer Service or whatever it's called.

Good call, I forgot all the wifi printer apps!
Updated the list with some others that I found as well (Email, Hangouts, Messaging, Music Visualization Wallpapers, etc.) All can be safely removed, but make sure you have another method for emailing or texting, lol
Freeze bloatware
K, I was able to freeze the bloatware using my unrooted 4.4.2.
I went into each apps settings (long press the icon, app info). Then I cleared the "Show notifications" check, Force stop, then Disable. After that the offending apps weren't showing up under the app screen.
If you go to Play store, you'll find them listed as "Disabled".
Hope this helps some, and keep up the good fight for Root access with this update.

Sigh... Please don't spam this thread with posts about root on stock KK. If you don't have it by now, get used to not having it on this phone EVER.
I have removed and disabled the google search app without any negative issues to the rom.
I don't use it as I find myself using my personal browser more than the useless google app. Plus no google now push. However, it does remove the search bar, but doesn't break the roms ability to search from an up swipe from the dock using a browser with search functions, or another search app.
You can also freeze google maps along with its companion app without issue.
You should also consider putting a list of apps not to mess with this time around. This is because a few system apps have become more vital in the rom.
For instance, Google Play Services was able to be disabled and removed without reinstalling automatically in Jelly Bean, but it can no longer be frozen or deleted as it will seriously mess up the google play store with it's recent update in kitkat.

Thanks! They've been added to the list.
The "do not touch" app list sounds like a good idea, but I was thinking of just leaving it as whatever isn't listed in post #2 shouldn't be touched

Haha. How do you like your crow prepared? Despite the fact that root and unlock is now available again for a short time, anyway, I think he was showing how there is some freeze ability without root with this update.
With that said, I can't find acoustic warning in tibu, is it now called something else? I can't stand the auto volume drop when I hook to my truck radio.
Update: nvm. Its no longer standalone. Its in android os. You have to use xposed to disable it.
Something I killed in this list removed my speech to text capability. The microphone icon is gone from the keyboard when texting. Any idea what did it?
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk
If I had to guess, I'd say it was removing Google search that did the trick. That's when mine disappeared anyway. I rarely use the option so it didn't bother me too much. If you haven't uninstalled Google search, then you should just be able to verify Google voice typing is enabled. If that doesn't do it, you might also have to long press the button to the left of the space bar and assign the mic to that key.

OK, I'll bite. It seems I'm only able to freeze bloatware. I try uninstalling w/ TBU, but they're all still there. Since I don't see any reason to have to restore them for an OTA, I'd just like to get rid of them.

List of packages that can be safely disabled?

I am looking to debloat my device and improve battery life, does anyone have a list of packages that can be safely disabled/removed on the S7 Edge (G935F)?

That's the list I uninstalled with an app - these are pretty secure to delete. Doubt know your county, provider or firmware so there could me more bloatware also not all apps listed have to be preinstalled on yours.
Here is my disabled list. I'm using EZ Package Disabler to disable them. This app also has a lot of package descriptions. You can read the descriptions and disable more packages as you want.

There's a good app for this.
Samsung package disabler pro.
Search for it on google play
You may as well buy a Nokia 3310 if you're going to disable half the functionality.
Disabling all those services really won;t make any significant difference to battery use.

Anyway, original Package Disabler Pro has been republished under a new developer name, but it's 100% the same:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpremium
If a owner of the previous app sends an email to the new developer (policedeveloper) he should receive a license for the new PDP.

what is the difference between using those paid apps and to use the disable options on the phone it self?
I also found out that, not that I will delete it, even apps like Whatsapp cannot be fully deleted from the phone. Only the updates.

You answered by yourself....
All apps, included facebook, whatsapp, instagram, word, excel, etc. (which are system apps) can be "frozen" using PDP (or others), differently from the stock app manager that can't disable them.

Or just use Package Disabler Pro which is safer and doesn't require TWRP or root.
Thanks for the list, will try disabling a lot of those that I don't use

I found with Package Disabler Pro do not use "Disable all Bloatware" I did and couldn't find my sd card listed
make sure you use manual and are sure what you are disabling.....or you'll disable some necessary system apps ....

I ended up double checking the stuff that wasn't so obvious. There are a few XDA posts on the S6 and S7 forum on which ones are safe to disable and what a lot of the obscure named ones actually do.
I've exported my package disabler pro list to xml here in case anyone want's it. Everything on the phone works perfect (I use nova launcher, google keyboard, hangouts messenger and google voice services so all the samsung equivalent packages are killed)
Copy all and paste into a txt file, save as an XML file, put on phone and import from package disabler pro.
BTW, if anyone notices anything in my list that should actually be turned back on, let me know.

Yes. I didn't want any of those but they are clearly labeled in the list of services so they'd be easy to uncheck to re-enable.
Basically, there were a lot of 3rd party apps from google or whoever that I am either used to already using or like using better than the samsung equivalent and I disabled those samsung services or apps. On the other hand, I've come to really enjoy using the samsung calendar, contacts, phone dialer and file explorer vs the 3rd party apps or google apps of those that I was using on my 6P so I didn't do a blanket disable of everything that came with the phone.

Awesome! Thank you. I did one early from the ATT forums and it did awesome. I'll have to go through and see what I want to keep. Like you I tend to keep some samsung apps. If anything I can disable them and re-enable them.

So ran it and my phone goes into constant vibrate mode lol. Any idea why?
Edit: has to do with Samsung pay. I'll play around with it.

So the phone is just vibrating non stopped or all notifications are vibrate only?
Are you using a 3rd party keyboard, messaging app, launcher and chrome browser? All of the samsung equivalents are disabled on mine so if you're missing something to take the place of the samsung app that's disabled for any of those things, the phone may not be liking that.
Also, are you on t-mobile?
If not, I'd remove all the t-mobile specific stuff from the xml file.
If all else fails, you can just re-enabled everything, reboot the phone, make sure it's operating normally and then start going through the list re-disabling various items and seeing if you stumble upon one that produces the strange vibrate thing.

No I'm on sprint. I removed all t-mobile stuff before loading. It vibrates like I was trying to pay for something work Samsung pay. I'll test it tonight
My phone is insanely fast but it removed Email.
Any way I can get that back? I'm on BPH6 firmware, N930FD.

Download the gmail app and enjoy that instead...
That or open package disabler pro app and UNcheck the "Email" item in the list.
I have a Note 7 SM-930T (T-mobile). We do not have an unlocked bootloader but have acquired root. We use FlashFire to backup, restore and flash mods for our phone. Can I flash this mod via FlashFire with NO worry of any issues? Thanks a bunch guys.
