[ROOT] PingPong Root ROM Workshop Thread - Galaxy S6 General

***PLEASE DO NOT REPLY IN THIS THREAD UNLESS YOU ARE WORKING ON A ROM. THANK YOU***https://plus.google.com/share?url=http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-pingpong-root-rom-workshop-thread-t3104639
If you have any questions, please send me a PM.
Due to my limited bandwidth and slow connection to oversea download sites, it takes too long to get new ROM scanned and supported. I need volunteers with knowledge of Odin tarballs and ROM zip packages to help me extracting "useful" part out of the ROM and upload them to speed up the process. Thank you for making this tool better
How to get involved:
1. You need to know how to extract boot.img and system partition files from Odin tarball and recovery flash-able ZIP packages.
2. Pick one of the ROM from the pending list. Please search in thread first to see if anyone is already working on it (and not yet failed). I'll also maintain the list regularly.
3. Search for this ROM on SamMobile or other sources. If you can find it, please reply in this thread in form of "WIP ROM version" so others will know.
4. Download the ROM, extract following pieces:
- boot.img
- /system/build.prop
5. Create a zip file named ROM_version.zip, containing boot.img and build.prop (inside system folder please), and upload it to a mediafire/mega share:
***remove the account, seems it never works***
6. Once done, please update the reply with "DONE ROM version". For any reason it failed or you can't continue, just replace it with "deleted".

Already tried that. That's going to limit my download to 75kbps. I have a 150mbps fiber connection.
If someone can link me, I will do some downloading
I'm specifically looking for G925TUVU1AOCG

Isn't 75kbps better than 0kbps !

Guys, please try keep this thread clean. If you are mentioning/quoting a ROM version in the post, just make sure it won't confuse other people searching for it in the thread.

Thank you! Would you create a folder "system" in the zip and add build.prop as well?

I am once again attempting these ROMs.

Hey can I just extract my boot.img and my build.prop from phone and send you that? or do you need me to download the stock sammobile odin tarball and then extract it from there

You will need root to extract boot.img but it you can do so, yes, please.
Btw, please PM me question instead of reply in this thread. Let's try to keep it clean for just ROM workshop.

getting build.prop for every ROM will require unpacking the whole system partition
If you are searching the fingerprint I believe that it is: 5.0.2/LRX22G/build:user/release-key for all EU/US

build G925FXXU1AOD4 (boot.img pulled from kies temporary firmware file, build.prop from adb)
https://mega.co.nz/#!FBxzEBIA!8UoDyuN8wIMEl0Up3IwfxfvZmG8j_oxaRyZ9nWs5XbA
have the full firmware if needed also, will appreciate if you support this build number.

Couldn't one just extract the boot img and build.prop from their device an upload? Saves a lot of un needed rom downloading if the user does not need it.

Added to the OP thanks mate!
I've been playing with this build for one hour now but only now I noticed....
There is 818mb ram available on this one and only 282mb used after you clear the ram!
Apart from that:
- new icons for 'More settings' in 'Settings'
- wifi direct / allshare icon bug fixed
- the current day is marked with a blue circle on the 4x4 calendar widget
That's all I could notice for now.

[Q] Could you upload your wpa_supplicant ?

Hello,
First, sorry for my bad English.
Is someone who have Android 4.3 Samsung Rom on his GT i9505 can send me the wpa_supplicant file. You need to be root to do this.
Of course, I don't want the wpa-supplicant.conf ^^
I have the 4.3 Google Edition Rom on my i9505 and I need this file in order to test EAP-SIM secure Network.
Thanks

*note* This file is mainly here for rom developers looking to build a custom rom or extract files/patches to apply to other models. It can't be used to repair a bad update as patches will not apply twice.
nice, i hope someone can make it compatible with Y
and btw ... there are typos in your signature : 16 MB / 32 MB for your nexuses

The signature reflects the specific models I purchased and the amount of ram/rom they had. As such it appears accurate to me.
it's 16 GB and 32 GB, if it was MB you wouldn't even install anything
How do you install this?

The short answer, and it's not intended to be ugly, is that if you have to ask it's not a file you should be installing.
It's easier to get it from the system updater....this is primarily intended for folks doing rom work or want to extract the patches to see what might be applied to the other models. It could be sideloaded via twrp for the specific firmware/model listed if they needed to for a particular reason.

It died on verifying system because I don't have that Google bloat installed. Oh well.
Quick question. I've flashed .bin files via odin, what do I do here?
It's simply a renamed zip. Change .bin to .zip and you can open it.
@purple.epod and others....I'm uploading an unrooted system image with boot (we need the kernel to match the system) to mega and will post the url when it completes tomorrow sometime. That file can be used to flash via twrp to the latest version and skip all the interim steps. Keep an eye out for it.
Sorry for so many questions -_- Lol. But flash this? Or the one you're talking about uploading?

The average user should use the file being uploaded in the system image thread. This url was for folks doing work on rom's.

S5 Active G870F rom question

Finally, today my G870F arrives. I have mixed feelings at the moment, but please do confirm me if I know well.
- I can use any Galaxy S5 G900F roms, if rooted and has TWRP installed.
- The active button will not work (I don't care)
My other question is, that will the hardware buttons work (home, menu... )?
Thanks a lot!
Old topic, but I build my own LineageOS 14.1.
I've been using it for a week now and no known bugs, except Activity button does not work.
