Just sold my S6. Here's why..... - Galaxy S6 General

I owned the phone for just over 2 weeks.
First of all, I like android because it's not IOS. I don't like Apple. The whole Apple company annoys me.
I used to get annoyed when I heard Apple where suing Samsung for copying there patents, so on and so forth.
I couldn't help but notice straight away how much the S6 looked like IPhone 6, especially at the bottom of the phone (speaker grille).
Then I started looking at what Samsung have done, they took away what made them stand out.
They took away removable battery, and give us a very average size battery, but push wireless charges.
Worst of all they took away micro SD card!!!! Wtf
Then Samsung ask for a ridiculous price for different versions 32gb.....64gb.....128gb....... That's what apple does.
I used to be able to pick up 64gb micro SD card on sale for about $30. That option has gone.
The battery life on the S6 is poor. Let's be honest, everything I read tells me to turn off all sorts of features to make the battery last longer. It's a smart phone. I might as well buy a Motorola RAZR flip phone.
I'm just so disappointed Samsung have taken a huge step backwards and become who they used to fight. (IOS).
The fast Charging feature is cool, only if you want to carry your wall adapter and cable round with you all day, just incase!!!! The branded Samsung wireless charger should have come with the phone, not a $59.99 extra fee.
The only thing I will miss is the camera. It was excellent. But that's it.
Touchwiz was still sluggish, I experienced redraws more than I should have, and I still found it bloated with battery hogging apps.
I'm sick of Samsung. This is just my opinion remember.

You just perfectly outlined all the exact reasons I almost didn't get the S6 to begin with. Every year I can't wait to see the next Galaxy S, and this year Samsung made an iPhone running Android. Even though I hate Apple, my iPad is a huge part of my work and personal use, so I decided that the S6 had failed enough that it was time to just switch to iPhone 6+ and join the sheep.
BUT... I didn't. And the only reason I didn't was because it was time for me to upgrade now and I didn't want to get the iPhone 6 with the new one coming in Sept., leaving me with an old phone for two years. (I don't know where you are, but remember that in the US most of us are on 2 year phone plans.) So I just got the S6.
And I'm loving it. And I know I'd love the iPhone less. But I hate supporting Samsung making bad decisions.

Sorry but this is such a useless thread. Everyone of your reasons were very well know before launch. Yet you bought it anyway. Non of that was at all a suprise. Sorry your unsatisfied but you knew what you were buying.

We just need freaking root. God, I can't stand seeing all these useless apps running in my phone.
I hate at&t.

In my opinion they finally did something right for the first time in the last two years. People were always complaining about the build quality of Samsung phones. They finally build IMO a very nice phone, yes they did copy the looks of the iPhone a bit, but it looks great. One thing that did always bug me was the speaker being on the back of the phone. Now its on the bottom producing better sound when watching videos or listening to music.

None of the people I know that bought Galaxies had a problem with the build - it's always just been the iTurds that say how "bad" and "cheap" Samsungs are compared to their precious. I never had a problem or concern with the plastic body.
As for the new speaker placement, it's horrible. I'm constantly accidentally covering it just from natural hand placement when watching videos horizontally.

Countless reviews on YouTube where saying how debloated it is, how it's the best touch wiz ever!! Maybe the obligated to say that??!
However it still felt like touch wiz to me, lag, redraws.....
In Canada 32gb model costs $750. The 64gb model costs $860!!! That's what annoys me, I can buy a 32gb micro SD card for a third of that 110$ jump.
Samsung have copied everything Apple has done, and it's pathetic.

Look..I don't doubt your reasons for being unhappy but like I said..it's been covered! That horse is dead and beaten. No reason to stick a shotgun to its head.
My PERSONAL experience is this is the best phone I've used hands down. I had a droid turbo, spent a week with the m9 and have had plenty of time with my wife's iphone 6. The s6 wins hands down.. for my needs.
From your complaints maybe the g4 will be a better fit for you

Right...because apple has 2k screens, ir blasters, a payment system with MST support, multiwindow, etc. Please, Samsung is way out in front and Apple is trying to play catchup. Wish a mod would come and rid of this useless thread.

Hardware wise yes it's way out in front but software wise Android as a whole still hasn't caught up to iOS whether you like it or not. Not everyone needs widgets and endless customization's on their phone, some of us simply want a phone that works out of the box without needing to root or having to wait months for an update to address the memory leak issues.

I started this thread because, I thought it might help people who are on the fence whether to buy it or not, I took the plunge and bought it then realized I made the mistake so I expressed my OPINION.
Also if this is such a useless thread don't read it....and better yet don't reply to it. (I'm the idiot)
Samsung has took a serious step away from its loyal customers by asking for more money for there devices and removing everything that made them special. You basically have an iPhone 6 running a bloated and ugly version of Android.
Once again my opinion, if you don't like it move on. Don't feel the need to be a keyboard tough guy and start calling names.
Childish.

I dont understand why they picked up S6 and then create a thread of their dislikes.
S6 features, pro and cons has been layed out prior opening sales and yet they still picked it up.

So, I have been playijg around with my new Nexus S for a few hours and have everything loaded up like before. It's an awesome phone, just not surs ifbit is a $500 upgrade from the Nexus One that I currently own. My biggest issue is the limilted memory... with 12 gigs of music, my work files and others- I think I will run out soon, I am guessing they come out with a 32 gig before long. I will hang on to this and see how my N1 performs with GB. I really don't need a front facing camera or NFC chip. But I must admit, this thing is great and really flies! Anyone else having second thought?
It's disappointing that Google is going the Steve Jobs way trying to control what we can or can't do with our phones. I prefer my Nexus one 1000 times over this mediocre-half-ass attempt of a phone. I'll wait for Google to try again next year and bring back the tracking ball, memory slot, and a metallic casing instead of the plasticky one.

Yeah, I don't really see the Google Walled Garden. You'll have to explain.
I am almost positive there will be a Nexus-M by Motorola, they really want in on the Nexus name I have heard. Might be called the Nexus-3.0 and released after Honeycomb comes out, but that's just rumors I have heard. I thought Moto was gonna get the Nexus-2 before Samsung got involved, so I am sure they are working on a Nexus phone for release in 2011.
Right now, today, the Nexus-S is the best Android phone on the market, if you want pure Android, with no carrier bloatware, and no branding crap like Sense or Touchwiz, and you just need to root this phone to make it bad ass, no real need for a custom rom like C 6.1.
I would not want the first dual core phone to market anyways, let them work out the kinks and bugs first, and I'll take the second round of dual core phones. Will give them time to really optimize Android for dual core after the 2nd gen is out.
I think the OP was asking if you have actually bought the phone are you having second thoughts.
To go from a Nexus One to a Nexus S and call it an upgrade is an oxymoron. To pay money and get a phone with less features is unwise. Gingerbread is coming to the Nexus One anyway.

Where does Google say it's an upgrade? Link, please.
If you're just whining because the Nexus S doesn't have all the features that you want, then please stop. Go somewhere else and start your own thread, where you can complain all you want that the phone doesn't have a Jet Pack or a Rocket Launcher.

It's hardly the same thing. Sure, Google may have taken out a couple features that you find important, but they are definitely not controlling anything. These decisions ONLY affect the Nexus S. The MANY other Android phones are not affected. So if you want a trackball and expandable memory, you can very well have that. Just buy a different phone. Apple on the other hand, prevents this freedom since the iPhone is the only available iOS phone.

This is a forum for people to share their opinions. If you really like the Nexus S, you shouldn't get mad if others don't. Go buy one, enjoy it and move on. But try to understand that different people use their phones differently.
For me, the lack of SD storage is a deal breaker. Like the OP, I have easily over 12GB of music that I load on my phones. I don't want to carry an MP3 player on top of my cellphone. Nexus S's lack of SD slot leaves me with very limited space for my other data (work emails, apps, pictures and clips that I shoot, and so on). Having said that, I could see how this wouldn't be an issue for someone who doesn't fill up their phone.
Secondly, no matter how you spin it, the hardware is not a noticeable step ahead from the Nexus One, or the myTouch 4G. The S has a 1GHz processor and so do a whole slew of phones by Samsung and other manufacturers.
Thirdly, the Nexus S doesn't utilize TMO's HSPA+ network. Again, this may not be a big deal for somebody who doesn't do heavy data on their phone. But I do, and I happen to live in an area where TMO's "4G" network works extremely well. I definitely consider going from HSPA+ back to "3G" a downgrade. You may not share that view...
Basically, the only selling point for the S is Gingerbread. Based on certain information I have, the MT4G is highly likely to get a 2.3 update on the other side of the year. A minor OS update isn't enough to convince me to buy this phone.
As for your "upgrade" comment, technology is expected to get better over time. It's just the way it works. Google doesn't need to hold a press conference event to tell us whether this phone is an upgrade over a phone released nearly a year ago. That is expected to be the case.
Removed by me
I think the Nexus phones are Google's iPhone. It is untouched by Carrier bloatware, and untouched by phone brand UI's. This is the "pure" Android experience, sort of how iPhone is the "pure" Apple phone experience, but they only have one phone anyways, so sort of hard to compare, but you get my drift.
Is the Nexus-S gonna be the top dog hardware, no. But it will always be up to date with the current OS, and not really needing any custom roms, just a root. Sure in two months from now, there will be dual cores etc...but they will also have Moto blur, or TouchWiz, or Sense UI, and then have Verizon Bing search, or ATT crap ware. I like the virgin Nexus, even if she is a little slower
Every Christmas time there will be a new Nexus, running the latest OS, sort of like every summer there is a new iPhone. I hope this keeps going.

even if there is, until android is written to support it, and the apps are as well, having an extra core will be useless.
I'm going to sit on my n1 until a dual core dev phone is released. By that point, my n1 will be at the same hardware comparison with the new phone that my g1 was with the n1

Agreed, I would not want to be beta tester on the first gen of dual core phones, could be buggy, or could not offer any performance gains until the Android OS is totally ready for it . Now a dual core Nexus development phone would be nice.
Probably going to return mine
This phone is nice, but I really don't c much performance upgrade over my Nexus One. When I tried to watch some flash videos, it was just as choppy as my Nexus One...I was very disappointed. I think right before the remorse period is over I will return the phone and go back to my N1.
I visited Best Buy during lunch and got to play with a demo unit. The first impression is that the phone feels cheap. Yes, we've read about this many times in reviews, but I don't think one realizes it until one has it in their hands. It feels like a toy. And for whatever reason, it feels cheaper than the Vibrant; maybe because of expectations (Nexus branding and all)? I don't know. In some ways, the Vibrant's cheapness still feels like quality.
Granted, I was only using it for no more than 5 minutes, I was quite underwhelmed. Gingerbread sure is smooth, though.
Driving home with mine right now. 30 day return policy with no restocking fee. Ill see how gb does on my nexus one also and if I find any buyers. If gb flies on n1 and no buyers ill return. Can't wait to get home and charge it then wait till its done before I use. Fffuuuuuuu

I too am underwhelmed with the device so far. Oh yes it is fast and smooth but I am getting Fc's and some have to do with the GPS which does concern me. My GPS has been spotty so far and I still recall the torture with the Vibrant's GPS. Also Market has not updated to the new market. I thought GB would include that for sure(perhaps it is not actually released yet although I have it on my Vibrant. I do like the feel of the phone though. It is heavier to me than the Vibrant or the MT4G

If you're getting FC's out of the box, do a full reset of the phone. If it keeps doing it even afterwards, then exchange it.
This is my first Samsung device and I disagree with the folks saying that it feels cheap or like a toy. My only complaint about it's build quality after having played with it for the last several hours is that I wish they had used some rubberized texture coating or something because the phone is pretty slick.
I'm sure I'll get used to it though and adjust my grip accordingly.

LOL I'm writing that one down.

Why all the Samsung misconception and hate?

I have seen numerous HTC fans spew crap about Samsung for updates and build quality issues. For example, many state that the plastic build quality is of very low quality, of which is very opposite in reality in which in plastic is actually very solid. I have dropped my Vibrant many times and it still looks like new, can't say that about metal which dents and gets dinged. As for updates, blame your carriers. The international versions got updates several months before the carrier versions.
Here are some quotes from some obvious HTC users.
"Last year, Consumer Reports (a major U.S. publication) branded the U.S. Galaxy S versions as some of the best Android phones. Not only were they NOT the best, they were missing some basic functionality and lagged like a phone from a previous generation. Let's not even talk about lack of support from Samsung. Too many people fall for the SAMOLED eye candy and ignore everything else."
Or "Thank god I have some help.. hehe I honestly dunno why these SamSux people think S G II is pretty muhahua. It's one ugly plastic crap i've ever seen. They keep coming in HTC thread telling people to buy their plastic crap. "
Or "Another troll just childish, u will se Samsung will never have so awesome devs like HTC phones have especially when.I look at the desire section, a lot of them will buy a sensation and that's the reason why i will buy one to "
What do you think about the public conception of Samsung here at XDA?
The first quote is spot on. The lag was unbearable, the GPS inop, and support was nonexistent. Samoled was nice until you seen the jagged text. Battery life was also terrible. The phones are usable now, after 3-4 updates (updates that were bricking phones and frying storage, mind you) but the GPS is still borderline useless for lots of people and it still lags more than a Samsung jack wm6.5 device (by a long shot).
I they do better with the s2 good for them, but they are indefendable irt these phones. Hype can only get you so far...

Way to read my first paragraph. Support was due to the carriers, not Samsung directly. And I still do not understand what this lag is, even on JFD I had installed 30 apps and still little to no lag for me.
And the jagged text? have both a HD7 and a HD2 with me no, and I see no difference worth speaking of between the screens. I do 20/20 vision.
Battery life terrible? Wait till you see the desire HD or thunderbolt. The GS2 has also been reported to have good battery life.
Have you even tried a custom rom N8ter? CM7 nevers lags, even when underclocked to 400 mhz. And as to that HTC phones work better out of the box statement, we are on XDA. Hell, many of those HTC fanboys wanted the Sensation due to the dev attention they believed it would get, even with a locked bootloader.
I don't mod my phones and nor should anyone be expected to. The performance of the phone now is usable. Where was cyanogen in august to December 2010, though?
Don't answer that.
Bunch of excuses. What you quoted is true.
Text on a samoled panel is more jagged than on others. Its a side effect of the pen tile pixel arrangement used. Its very noticeable when you have white text on a black background - at least for me it is.
These panels also suffer from burnin more than any other screen type I've used.
Support from carriers does not help when the hardware is faulty (gps)'or the device has design flaw like rfs. Samsung can push out an update that replaces rfs. They choose not to. They should have recalled phones with known hw gps falls but.they just blamed it on the users andbgave them a useless tool to rwser some setting many of us never touched to begin with.
I read your whole post btw, bit I'm typing from devices so stop acting.like I'm obligated to comment on or rebut every tucking thing in it...

This is the fourth vibrant I've had, gps was piss poor, and I was able to get new ones because of it. This newest handset has really good locks. I like the phone even after the gps problems. I bought an otter box and some ghost armor. With the case it feels solid. I know not everyone will get a case to make the phone feel built but it's nice. Id buy another samsung device no problem. I like the feel and ease of use.

Fact: Despite samsung's delay in releasing froyo for the vibrant and it's GPS problems, the vibrant was/is still a greatr phone with an awesome display and great hardware!
Guys , am just wating for galaxy s 2 , rumour has it that it is going to be the best smart phone for a long time!!
I have to agree with N8ter. This will probably be my last Samsung device. I told myself from the start I'd never get another Samsung device, but it was all Asurion had to replace my water-damaged, but beloved N1. Ugh. I wish I had waited for them to get something else.
The lag KILLS me! I want to throw the damn phone against the wall or some concrete almost daily. Samsung could have definitely kept RFS to their damn selves. Even the browser lags on me most times.
I get a bunch of missed calls even when I have full coverage. The only way I'd even know I would miss them is if my girlfriend would text me to pick up my phone or check Google Voice for missed calls.
The GPS... yeah. Go back to the comment about me wanting to throw my phone against the hardest surface available, and multiply that by 100. The GPS has almost made me late for several appointments (job interviews, drug testing, etc.), and actually gotten me lost in my own native home of Atlanta. I don't get how the hell the GPS can possibly think I'm somewhere .5 miles away then where I am actually am.
I absolutely hate how it doesn't have an LED. NoLED does the job, but isn't really what I would call a suitable replacement.
I also hate how it looks like an iPhone. If I wanted an iPhone lookalike, I would have went out and bought an iPhone. I am really tired of people always asking me, "Is that an iPhone?"
I also despise TouchWiz. I despise manufacturer skins in general, but touchwiz REALLY grinds my gears.
One of the very few good redeeming qualities about this damn phone is the amount of internal storage, but which I barely make use of b/c of wanting to keep all of files stored on my external. I also like the dev tools they have, such as Odin. It's saved me a couple of times from bad flashing and just plain operator error. I also like how easy it was to install the front facing camera. But, then again, why the hell should I have to install it in the first place?
Overall, I am not a happy camper with Samsung. Once I start this new job, or get my financial aid refund check , it's definitely time for a new phone, and it sure as hell won't be Samsung. I was thinking about giving this phone to my girlfriend to replace her T-Mobile Tap, but I don't know if I want to torture her that much.
P.S. This is after using custom roms. God forbid how horrid my experience would have been on stock. I think I might have really thrown it in oncoming traffic.
its obvious that you're stuck in your mindset, so why even start a thread? its useless. coming from an owner of both brands, each have pros and cons. my epic and inspire both have poor battery life. inspire is smooth while the epic lags. furthermore, my epic has better overall display, but the inspire looks better picture wise, not contrast or color, quality. my point is, phones appeal to one person or another. no need for a useless thread targeting one manufacturer.

All the problems that you are whining about disappeared when custom roms came. That's the point of custom roms so you don't have to use the crappy stock firmware. Anyway if you are still having trouble after using a custom rom and still think you have room to complain, then you probably shouldn't even own an android device and it is most likely user error. You're just an HTC fanboy, I am not saying that Samsung is the best but they are better than HTC. On top of that the Vibrant outdoes most of the new phones and all of the older phones that T-mobile has and it's over 6 months old. So quit basing your opinions on the phone off of your HTC loyalty.

And you're a closed-minded Samsung fanboy so you can take your opinion and go eat shi* for all I care. Most of my complaints might have been stated already, but clearly the more times it's stated proves it's not just isolated incidents. I'm not basing my phone off of any loyalty. I'm basing it off of the fact that it frustrates the hell out of me. And I assure you it's not user error. I've been dealing with computers and electronics and modding etc since I was 7 and am a computer science major, so I assure you it's not user error. Every single one of those problems has persisted since I used a custom rom, and who the hell are you to tell me I shouldn't own an Android device? I know all about custom roms and have been using them since I got my first smartphone, the HTC wizard. If you think Samsung is better than HTC, that's fine. We're all entitled to our opinion. I, however, could care less about another Samsung phone ever again. I really regret the day my Nexus One fell in that pot of water.

Every HTC phone that I have ever owned or seen has been the most worthless product. I would rather dig an old razr out from the bottom of a dumpster and use it than to ever use an HTC product again. All they have is cons, no pros at all.

And you call me a fanboy. Yeah. Ok. At least I'm willing to admit this phone does have some pros.
I like the sgs line. Sure, there not the best out there, but as a rom chef and themer, I can honestly say this this phone is the best for that. Almost unbrickable. Don't forget, with HTC and moto(dont quote me on moto), they don't have Odin. That is a HUGE selling point for me. I would be pissed if I spent $x on a HTC phone, and had a bad flash. Now its a door stop. Just my .2.

Lol. Quite frankly I don't give a damn WHAT you believe. I don't have to prove myself to some anonymous person on the internet. You can eat **** and die for all I care. I know it's not user error. Even if I don't have the know how to go in and fix Samsung's mistakes myself, yet, I know how to read carefully and apply others' fixes. So go troll someone else. Like I said, it's your OPINION that Samsung is the better company, and that's fine. But, as for myself, I know I won't be giving Samsung another chance.
Good day to you.
I have seen Plastic = poor build quality in US mostly.
it's a loyalty thing, you know the last HTC device i owned was actually an I-Mate. still to this day I remember how damn awesome that thing was. swivel screen, Large Keyboard, solid PLASTIC construction, stereo speakers, 3.5 jack. etc. OS blew, think it was windows mobile umm 5? i know i ran 6.5 on it before i upgraded.
this phone was a beast. and the last HTC built device i ever owned as i switched to nokia and sony Ericsson smart phone devices, somehow i ended up with a samsung i900 Omnia (gsm) and have stuck with samsung since.

Pretty cool ! I like how it supported 3g video calling in 2005 I had a Nokia 6630 then
To each their own.
I am commited to buying a usa sgs2. Why with the terrible support we've had? I truely think that samsung has learned their lesson. Releasing the source so soon after the phones launch is amazing. I have also read just about every review and watched every video. Its exactly the experience I want.
Even with all the problems of the sgs... I still love it. The reason why I know I love it is cause I am currently using a mytouch 4g. Its great that I can overclock it to 1.5ghz. Frankly I am really starting to miss my vibrant. I Love that phone. With its ****ty gps and its laggy ass stock ui and its horrible support. I am after all A tinker at heart!

A friend of mine still uses this as his daily phone, he managed to preserved it all this long in a mint condition too

No removable battery

Sorry Samsung, I don't think I'll be sticking with you guys on this one.
This was expected and not a suprise at all tbh.

Yeah, not saying it was a surprise or anything. Just saying that I know many people that switched from the iPhone 6+ to the Note 4 for the removable battery. Because of this, those many people might just switch back to the iPhone 6+ or even 7+.

You mean you?? Haha
I honestly cant see me going back to Apple. I might however consider an Apple tablet IF they ever release one with a stylus but if you wait a year or two other will follow suit on Android. At the minute Samsung Note 10.1 only ones worth buying. Anyway I digress.
I know a lot of people who bought S6'd because they were sick of Apple and wanted something overall better ... I think its a cycle tbh - people keep moving both ways but you still get the Majority who will stick with what they know be it Android Phones or Apple. I'll happily buy an iPhone if it hit all the points (But I know it never will HAHA).

Just waiting on the release of the Moto X Style. The S3 has a month or so before it litterally goes in the bin ... Broken screen, Superglued back cover, bits missing from the screen, turns of Randomly, REALLY REALLY SLOW list goes on haha

No removable battery, No Water resistant, No Micro SD(and its available on Dous version !!), No Type-C port (forcing you to buy Note 6), No good video stabilization (forcing you to buy Note 6) , Not real 4GB of RAM and of course it will be draining by SAM APPS
battery should be at least better than Note 4 not Same or less !!
i am too disappointed
To be honest only reason I have kept it this long as I felt no phone has really been worth the change until now.

The Note 5 must be a prank

The "REAL" upgrade to the Note 4 must be coming out later. I sure am glad I have taken good care of my DE Note 4. I will be holding on to it a lot more securely now that I know it is not being upgraged. There is no way I will ever be tied down to a battery charger again. Check my post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=62319570&postcount=15
We get it. You and a bunch of others are never going to get past Samsung's h/w decisions. Do we really need half a dozen threads harping about the exact same things?

I, We could be saving people from a horrible mistake. Have Fun!
Its just a mistake from samsung. They will learn. When the sales figure come and it flops!
If the Note 5 had been just a little bit better than the Note 4, I would have bought it.
Back in the day of the Motorola RAZR MAXX I had to keep two phones in order to have enough battery to last all day. I would move the SIM card from one phone to the other to activate them and it would sometime cause corruption.
I'm waiting for a Note 5 Active with 4100mAh battery and microSD
getting it and cant wait , people say it will hurt their sales but it has not slowed down apple

That would be better but at some point you have to put the phone down and stick it on a battery charger. Then you no longer have a mobil phone.
I'm waiting for the removable battery. Until then, bye bye Samsung.
I held the phone in my hand today at Bestbuy, along with the Note 4 right next to it. 3000 mah battery doesnt bother me, I charge my Nexus 6 twice a day because im a power user. It will be no different with the note 5 (220mah different i know). Quick charging allows me to charge my phone to 100% over my lunch break. As far as removable storage....i have a nexus 6 right now and only 32gb. Leef Access OTG adaptor with 128gb sdcard makes it a none issue. I never have used the IR blaster on any phone except to maybe try it out....my S tab has one. never used it.
I just loved reading all the hate yesterday after the announcement.......Im going to assume these same people will LOVE the new render of the boring looking 2015 LG Nexus.
btw, I think the Perl White is gorgeous. Im going to pair that with the UAG Magma red case.
is this Apple or Samsung !
No IR - No Micro SD - No Removable Battery - Just Stilling NFC & Bluetooth !!
My next phone may be a g4 or g4 pro

Remember back in 1985 when Coca-Cola changed the formula ? This change by Samsung is way worse than that bad decision. Samsung may never recover market share. R.I.P.

I use PayPal to swipe credit cards out in the field. If I have to put my phone on a charger I will lose money. I use to carry two phones just so I would always have a hot battery. Also what's up with Samsung removing the TV remote control feature.

Well at least Apple are capable of selling all their products on all continents. It seems Samsung think Europe would rather be palmed off with the Edge 6+ alone rather than letting the consumer decide what they want too buy. I wonder how many people will now buy another companies product because of that singular decision.

You didn't find any because there are none and there never will be. There's a reason Samsung has nicknames like "Samdung" and "Samsuck", or why their horribly mutilated version of Android is known as "Touchjizz": it's absolute trash.
If you really want to try it, then do as the person above me suggested and pick up a cheap Samsung device off eBay or Swappa or something and use that. Or go to your local Verizon/AT&T/TMobile/Sprint store, Best Buy, etc and play with one they have on the showroom floor.

Lol.
Touchcrap was king of lag for a long time but Android O seems to have done away with that. I've had hands on with a friend's s8+ before and after update. No more lag.
S9+ speakers are a step above our 6p sad to say. Although not front facing, they're loud, full and clear.
If I was going to upgrade, the S9+ pushes all the right buttons.

To be fair, I haven't used Samsung phone since my old Note 4 back in 2014, so things may have improved since then, but I don't plan to go back. A locked bootloader, no root, and being stuck 2 Android versions behind everyone else turned me away from Samsung for life.
They do make very nice hardware, but I don't care. I almost never physically touch the actual phone since I always put my device in a plastic/rubber case. The phone could be made of plastic, glass, metal, or whatever, my phones always feel the same due to the case. I also use headphones 99% of the time, so the speakers don't matter much to me either.
Well, I've finally picked up an s9 and traded in my 6p. It's the only phone which I can really consider an upgrade. Sammy spent a year on the stereo speakers and it sounds as much. Quality loudness. It's a good time to pick up the s9 since sales aren't up to expectation. It's a refined s8 and you didn't sign up as a guinea pig first time round.

well, great.. you picked up one... but do remember, stock is stock. Nothing can beat it. Plus theres very little development for samsung s9. I had an s8, thats why m saying this.... All the custom roms that you'll try will be based on touchwiz not aosp.

Going to take a break from unlocking and rooting. Hardly flashed any custom roms on 6P anyway. On stock most of the time. I only rooted for the sound mods and xposed. Sammy is like the iPhone of Android. Everything is done for you. I'm going to sit back and hopefully enjoy what their well paid engineers have cooked up. Cheers.

That's where you're wrong...... Samsung will start lagging in like 6 months where as stock vanilla ROM doesn't. And why the hell are you comparing Samsung experience to that of iOS smoothness. IOS runs smooth even after years whereas Samsung will not. I have friends who own an s8 and they complained of lagginess

If you bothered to read what I wrote, I made the comparison based on the difficulty of unlocking and rooting a Samsung phone. Same as jailbreaking an iPhone i.e. they want you to use the phone as how they made it. I also have a friend who has an 8+ who says the lag has gone with Oreo update, something which I pointed out in my earlier post.
You heard about the deliberate slowing of older iPhones by apple on the pretext of improving their battery life?
I don't know what your disdain for Samsung is based on. It's not healthy.
This is my first Samsung phone. I'm not going to lose it if it doesn't suit me. I can always trade it in for something else.
It's only a phone. Get over it.

I dont hate samsung at all. Just saying that stock is always preferred. I meanvanilla android. I used s8 with oreo (before I sold it). And coming to unocking, its damn easy....... And coming to lagging, I know samsng has come a long way in that area but see the nexus is almost 3 years old and shows minmal lag (due to old hardware), can you say that about samsung? And ya the most beautiful phone in terms of aesthetics is made by Samsung (No one can deny that).
Coming to deliberate slowing of iphones, I heard that and their explaination is somewhat justified as you can have top notch performance and amazing battery life.
Whats the point of freedom of speech if you can't criticize something for their shortcomings
