[RAW SUPPORT] HTC updated the Camera app with native RAW support! - One (M9) General

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...utm_source=42matters.com&utm_medium=WidgetWeb
I haven't had a chance to edit in lightroom yet, but hey RAW is always something good.

That's awesome!

Are there any improvements quality wise? did they work on some of the flaws from M9 camera or did they just add the RAW mode?

The raw mode turns off a lot of the over processing that the normal camera mode does, that will improve quality by itself. The post processing can then be done by a better app like lightroom.

I haven't played with it yet really and I am unlikely to do post processing but what I LOVE about the new mode is that you can manually adjust the white balance, iso, aperture, and focus (plus another which I'm guessing is contrast (?)...
I often hate autofocus, this will make it easier when autofocus just refuses to focus the way I want it to...

OK - the raw format here is the standard Adobe digital negative format - DNG file type - so it does need post processing - and you can do it on the HTC M9.
Check out "Raw Decoder Free" -
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tssystems.rawdecoderfree
Remember the processing rules for raw images -
1 pixel = 3 subpixels
For 8-bit color processing per subpixel (aka 24-bit color) -
1 pixel => 3 bytes
1 pixel => 6 bytes for 16-bit processing.
A 20 MP picture could go as high as 60 or 120 MB when done.
And because you can use sd cards in the M9, you won't care any more than you would with a digital camera offering raw quality pictures.
Check out "Photo Mate R2" for full power editing and decoding -
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tssystems.photomate2

ps express does also a good job for viewing the dngs. just as a hint for all people who wont buy photomate^^

wow i am impressed with the photos!!!

you already had all this in the manual mode my friend
also for information: the M9 RAW images are 10bit not 8bit, even though the sensor is rated 12bit

Phones featuring the EYE experience, like the One (M8) or Desire EYE, get unique ways to capture memorable moments. Create wide-angle or 360-degree panoramas, shoot a photo booth-style filmstrip, crop yourself into a landscape or capture with the selfie and main cameras at the same time. If you have the new HTC One M9, you get the EYE experience and even more out of HTC Camera. The Raw Camera mode lets you capture Digital Negative files (.DNG) that you can adjust using professional tools. Check out the Bokeh camera, too, which gives your photos a soft, out-of-focus background and a sharp, in-focus subject. When recording video, try filming with 4K resolution for high-quality results.

HTC camera app RAW mode review
RAW mode works great on the M9 and it's well thought
when you first switch to RAW camera, it gives you the option to change storage location and do you the good favor of recommending the phone internal storage for faster operation, the RAW camera has some settings of it's own so you will need to change to 10:7 aspect ratio if you want the full 20MP, even if you already had that set in normal camera, now the cool part: the interface is the same as manual mode but it's all set to auto, effectively giving you an automated camera with raw output, you can change the values to get a manual result, once you take a shot it takes a little longer to save it than it does for normal camera and the reason is simple, its saving a huge DNG file and a highly compressed JPEG version of the same image, the best part: you can still see the photo in the HTC Gallery thanks to the JPG companion photo, once you go to DCIM you will find two files of each image, JPG and DNG
here is a processed DNG with manual values, ISO100 and 0.5sec shutter
Below you can compare pure DNG vs Processed vs JPG Preview, also Manual vs Auto, note the darkness of the scene as well:
RAW mode, auto values (it went for ISO320 light was after sunset)
JPG preview file (as you can see it has HTC's Denoise)
DNG converted to JPG, pure (as you can all the Denoise and processing code is disabled)
DNG processed in photoshop (denoised, sharpned and detailed)
RAW mode, manual values (ISO100, Shutter 0.5sec)
JPG preview file
DNG converted to JPG, pure
DNG processed in photoshop

I have been trying to use the RAW "camera" and the issue I have been having are that I am missing all of the manual settings and the camera doesn't know how to expose correctly on its own (atleast on my camera) while it is in RAW. Am I missing some small little button or check box that allows me to enable manual control or is mine just screwed up?

For Linux post-processing -
https://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/
I've also built a copy of that for the Mac (Snow Leopard) last year - and absolutely credit @defcomg for that (and my M8 raw camera).
I probably have the pieces still lying about, not sure lol, let me know if anyone is interested.
And even if you're not - read up on dcraw, the body of work behind it is your true tutorial and advanced help for all things raw photo.

Unfortunately the screenshots didn't help me at all. It seems everyone can get the manual controls except me. I can open the manual controls in the regular camera module but when I swap to the raw module, the menu icon changes from the 3 dot menu to the settings gear. It then no longer lists of any special settings that are different than if you selected the 3 dot menu in the regular module then selected the gear. I will attach some screenshots from my own phone showing what I mean.

OK - for a raw camera alternative, try this one - FreeDCam - from @defcomg -

The feature set is outstanding. No lie.

Hate to say it but after all the effort, the processed RAW images are probably 5% better than HTC's standard JPEG pictures. Maybe it's better blown up?
For such huge files and all the work involved i'll be using auto still.

What to do with a camera?

I have recently bought an Alpine , and am really dissapointed. I had a Himalaya and a Blue Angel before and the quality of the photos was better despit the lower resolution!
Is it hardware or software's fault?
If it's software, is it possible to install a different camera application and just add it to start-up instead of the original one?
thx
i agree with you....
some tips
The default settings for the camera on XDA2 is much better than on 2i. You get much nicer looking pics if you change the settings via 'adjust' under tools when the camera is on capture mode to:
Contrast 3
Brightness 3
Aturation 6
Hue 5
sharpness 5
(If anyone knows where the defaults are stored, please shout up, as you lose the new settings if you have to do a soft reset)
You will find that sometimes you need to manually set the light colour (daylight, incandescent etc) rather than leave it set on auto. Changing this setting should not affect the brightness of the captured image - just the colour, but it often does. Also the quality seems to be really poor unless you choose XL for the capture size.
Under reasonable lighting conditions the above settings will produce BETTER pics than the earlier lower res camera, but this is not true in low light conditions - the new one produces very grainy (noisy) images. You can process them to remove most of this but generally it needs a better quality image processing program than you can run on the XDA.
The other big problem I have found is that the new camera finds great difficulty in working out what the exposure should be - sometimes a very ordinary scene is hopelessly overexposed. However, you can fool the camera by briefly pointing it at the sky before framing and snapping your shot.
This carry-on really should not be necessary, and someone ought to produce a software fix.
Thanks a lot, I'll give it a go
Another very annoying problem the XDAIIi camera suffers from is the location of which the images and movies are stored,
You will notice that even though you can change the location (Main memory or SD memory) you CANNOT choose the directory.
So you end up with the camera choosing the location, it does this by using the year,month,day-0001 and so on .....
You end up with loads of numbered folers when you would like all images to be put into "My Pictures" for example.

Yes this is really frustrating. I just tried changing the prefix string for this automated file naming. I tried putting /my documents/ in front of the default string but it wouldn't accept it. There must be somewhere in some config file that tells the camera to create a new directory off the root directory. Presumably that could be altered to make it created off the My pics sub directory.
i'd love if someone tell us about this cammera problem, is there some software which will change the default one or something?
those options helped alot tho.
Contrast 3

cheers, thanks mike!
There's a registry hack that keeps the default camera settings to your own adjustments even after a soft reset.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/HTC/Camera/AppDefSettings/General
Set Contrast = 3, Brightness = 3, Saturation = 6, Hue = 5,Sharpness = 5
Hope this helps
Heeey! It works! Thanks a lot. Well done!
I upgraded my radio yesterday, and those settings were saved even after hard reset!!!That's cool!

I feel BA is better than Alpine in speed, steady, camera, Power and many thing. I am sorry for to sell my PDA2K and buy PDA2. Anybody feel sorrow?

Thanks for the prompt reply. However, and using the PHM, I'm asked to enter a "New Key", or "New: String Value; Binary VAlue; DWORD Value; Multi-String Value; Expandable String Value". Which one?
All the camera issues with the 2i were caused by an "update" that the phone companies placed in the extended ROMs. Once this is removed, the problem goes away.
If you want the new extended rom with this "update" removed have a look for a link titled "camera quality sorted?" or something like that.

Original Screen Savers & Locks [Jan17- Create ur own in 10mins - Easy Tutorial !]

Create your own Screen Savers & Locks in 10 mins- Easy Tutorial ( see last post).
[ I have repackaged the files so they are smaller and run faster and can be opended and modified on your Pc, sorry for the earlier beta versions if you could not edit them ]
Here are some 3D screen savers I have created to show off the fabulous screen and colours of our X1's.
View attachment 138471,View attachment 138472
They are standalone files, need no installation, just extract from zip, copy anywhere to your phone and click, then click the Home Icon to exit the program.
If you have Pocket Plus 4 or other launcher, place a shortcut on your desktop and tap.
These are really easy to create, using Powerpoint, and will run on your PC as well, dual purpose, multiplatform, (credit to Microsoft)
I have left the files unlocked, so you can open them on your PC and modify to your hearts content. I will upload some more soon.

Its ridiculously slow on the X1, but if Microsoft incorporates Hardware 3D accelaration into WM 6.5 for use in apps like Powerpoint, like they have on the PC, then we could soon look forward to spectacular shows like this.
Take a look at this little beauty
View attachment 138593,View attachment 138594
Again another tap and go screensaver, but to turn it off this time you have to tap the black ball !
Here is version 3, I added a little rotation and bounce to the balls to make them more realistic, but it does affect frame rate. You can open this on your PC and resize the balls and bounce them around wherever you want, and as fast as you like.

X1 is an already power hungry device, I have to charge it everynight; so TBH won't these kind of apps are overkill? they're surely bring more stress to the system and thus more power consumption.
Its only Powerpoint - but I love it !
to each his own however perhaps you can -if you don't mind to- (and I mean Mark A C) try to make those works with apps like S2U2; I'm sure a lot of people will be happy with that.

I have thought of it, I think we need permission from Senior XDA Developers to modify there S2U2 Lock which I use.
Or does anyone know of a little program that can run a file after a set time of system inactivity, Im sure iv seen one somewhere.
You have to be a bit faster with this one, and only one of the balls exits the screen saver, you can add sound effects to wrong clicks, but it bloats the file, something for the finished version maybe.
( Also I am mindful of the data limits for posts on this site, and I am grateful to XDA Developers for the great service this site provides. )

these aren't 3d. Are 2d that seems 3d. Like doom vs quake, the first is 2d isometric (seems 3d), the second has a ral 3d engine. powerpoint hasn't 3d engine
useless for me, but nice
Updated settings
I have found these settings work well with my X1, to make animations in powerpoint, fast and smooth. There is no way of benchmarking powerpoint, so you must use your eyes and judgement.
Using Shaps Advanced Config Tool
File system cache size: 8mb
File system filter cache: disabled
Glyph cache: 64kb

Fun mini game, and if you manage to score a goal you'll get a great reward, guranteed to a put a smile on your face on a cold wet winter afternoon, especially if your a fan of British Television.
Instructions - Becuase powerpoint runs to landscape by default, before you run this, run Powerpoint : Menu > Set up show and set orientation to portrait, exit powerpoint then click the file.
Or just run the file, and change orientation within the powerpoint menu.
Then tap the ball ( accuracy is rewarded )
Responds best to gentle taps.
Im toying with incorporating something like this into an alarm program, similar to G Alarm where you have to complete fun rewarding tasks to turn your alarm off. I hope S2U2 Lock goes down this road.
Anyone from S2U2 want to collaborate ?

Hmm, maybe I just dont feel the 'vibe' but whats the deal with the Powerpoint presentations?
You do know our xperia fully supports OpenGL-ES ? If you insist on 'screensavers', i suggest take a look at developing applications in C#/++ (for example).
Everyone has powerpoint on there X1,the Slock program which is simple and very effective, took me all of 10 mins to do, and look at the file size 60kb, its tiny.
Plus everyone can download SLock, open it on there pc, Change the background etc and make it there own.

[APP][3rd Aug] Convert your CPR Titanium or PLG file to different (all) resolutions!

Convert your CPR file to different resolution by one click
Hello guys,
TPC asked me for one tool - he has made his own Titanium plugin and wanted to convert it to Fuze, that has got different resolution than Kaiser that he built it on.
I've written that app and here ya go:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
It converts all Height, Width, Left, Top, ItemHeight and ItemWidth attribs in .cpr file. It isn't perfect because some values you'll have to adjust manually, but rewriting all thousands lines of code takes much longer.
It was built for Titanium CPR file, but it will probably work on any different CPR file (since it is all the same XML).
You need only .NET Framework!
If you like my work and want me to continue developing tools, Buy me a beer!
Bugfixed:
v1.1: Now it can handle . numbers
PLG Resizer - convert your .plg to all resolutions
If you like my work and want me to continue developing tools, Buy me a beer!
V1: without generate landscape function
V2: added generate landscape function + some anti-crash fixes
V2.1: fixed bug that when in file were both landscape + portrait modes tool crashed (occured only in v2, v1 was working fine)
WOW! This is ground breaking, I will let you know what I find! Thank you!
really good man . i'll give it a try
thanx
What a great idea! And I'm not thinking about CPR alone...
What do you think: Would it be possible to take a .plg-File in any resolution (and perhaps landsape and portrait) - and the converter would make the output-plg-File for all resolutions in one file?
A .plg is a part of the .cpr - so it could be possible - your parser should only recogonize then <layer>...</layers>-Tags to know where the Resolution-Parts are to find and where the new resolutions should be inserted (Multi-Select instead of Single-Select)
For fine adjustings - perhaps there are some further algorithm to find - I think, it would work without very good.
That would be totally great!
And thanx for sharing your cpr-converter
Micha
since the cpr are realy xml could be good also if prssible to resize aplication skins (full screen player, audio manager) anyway I'll try it
congrats on the new tool, it works great
ps...i want everybody to know that i came up with this idea because im LAZY lol. great work by ondraster for making this happen

Yes - exactly
The .plg's - each "Layouts"-Section will added by installation from AT Plugin Installer in the different CPR's with the resolutions - so every .CPR is defined by the .plg's
OK, I'll look at it, but it will take some time, I'm pushed at work and also I'm pushed in Team Fortress 2 lol.
I understand - but would be real cool - whenever ( I think very much Plugins would use itfor their .plg's - no developer has all devices with all resolutions.. and Simulators... )
Meanwhile we can use the original CPR-Converter for the .plg's
Thank you
Micha
@MichelDiamond
I found out that there is in .plg both portrait and lanscape - are there always or aren't? Can I depend on it?
No - you cannot depend on it - if always x < y there's only portrait - and so the option to convert it to landscape - should be disabled then. Then the .plg-File has only all portrait-Skins in all resolutions.
Perhaps an extra option to turn the .plg in90 degrees then (it would be countable without changing the algorithm), when you don't discover any landscape in the .plg - but with the wisdom, that it works, but doesn't look so fine.
More important is to make a difference between portrait and landscape in one file.
What's also common:That 2 resolutions are already in the file (e.g. VGA and WVGA) - and the User could choose, which of the both Resolutions he want to have converted (That's easy for the algorithm).
The user should have the intelligance, that it's better, to convert the WVGA to WQVGA
And if your program always inserts the new Layout at the bottom of the .plg - after the last layout - you mustn't care by program for it.
OK, since I didn't get your response in few minutes, I started working on it, grabbed my "multiplying" core from CPR resolution changer and here is screenshot:
It works!, but till I release it I'll do the "if missing landscape, do only portrait" failsafe.
I've spend on it few hours (no kidding!) and many pops to the desk.
PS: It works a bit different - I have specified resolutions it will generate, then it detects where start of port + landscape start and end, takes this part, runs it via multiplying core, adds <layout screenWidth...> and adds to file for each resolution both port + land.
OK, when is landscape part missing, it skips it.
Download: My Server [CZE] (17KB)
*umph* You know what you have done?
This program means now.. that each Titanium Plugin mustn't be anymore released only in one Resolution - it can be released in each resolution...
because the skins in the cprs can also be converted.
Everybody can make a Skin - and with your converter - he can provide it for each device
And for JMLToday it means the same... the first trials were successful - but in JMLToday all the skins have my resolution of course... so I will have a look for feedback from the Users with other resolutions.
You know that's a KillerApp for Titanium now... You're great (and also a typical Programmer like I know it from me Problems have to be solved - insomnia )
Thanx man! Will give Feedback
Micha
OK.
When I was reading "*umph* You know what you have done?" my stomach went really high because I was scared what have I done lol.
OK, I'll tomorrow add the "convert from portrait to landscape" function.
But since it is half past one after midnight (AM) I'm not sure how it is counted - Left is swapped with Top and Height is swapped with Width or should I recount it? If I'm thinking right this should be more accurate because of odd numbers.
Or not?
I've never been good to painting and virtually imagining 2D (or 3D).
// OK, not, it would have to be pointed right into middle.

[guide] How to use xzp for vr big screen (subtitle: Moonlight for daydream in Oreo)

Previously posted article was moved.. in Q & A section.
(I don't know why.
I posted previous thread in Guide section.)
<I just want to know truth.

I said the excellence quality of xzp 4k ips display for 'flat' vr big screen through this thread.
Anyway..
Since the request there is solved,
I leave the article in the guide format.
I will post the information for vr usage from the previous article in a guide format.

moonlight for daydream(Nouga version)

'Moonlight for Daydream' was difficult to use on Nouga Rom
because of the symptom of screen broken in xzp stock Nouga Rom.
but I solved this problem.
Solution is simple.
You can use Xposed module to let the app recognize Oreo device as Nouga device.
Until Moonlight for Daydream Oreo version comes out,
you can use Moonlight for daydream in Oreo rom.
APP : Spoof my device
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nz.pbomb.xposed.spoofmydevice&hl=en_US
Use this application to modify the device information
and apply it to Moonlight for Daydream app.
You can also apply it to other Dreamdream apps.
If you apply this device information to system apps or other apps, the system will not work properly.
Modify <Product, Device, Model, SDK, SDK_INT>
SDK '25', SDK_INT '25' is especially important.
SDK 25 is Nouga 7.1.

Xz Premium is the highest visual quality of all virtual reality devices for use with YouTube Vr Platform.
I think
Now xzp is only commercial device in the world
that can stream 'wirelessly' 'native 4k' quality 'desktop screen itself'

2. Use the attached 4k / 2k qr code.
3. Enable the skip vr entry scene in Day Dream Developer option.
4. Turn off nfc.
5. Use Daydream.

Daydream View 2017 headset is recommended. It is comfortable-fit, lightweight, and has good fov and very little misting. First of all, It has a 'heat sink'.
https://www.virtual-reality-shop.co.uk/
There is a best-seller baofeng mosing s1.
It is known as the current mobile best fov.
I bought it.
For xzp, size do not fit, so further work is required.
There is a misting. can't use glasses. I think fov is fine but that doesn't get ahead of Daydream view 2017 quality.
Fov is less interested when adjusted.
I eventually use a Daydream view 2017 headset.
Netflix vr has a film, Pacific Rim.
Watch this movie. If you use big screen size with Daydream View 2017, you don't understand the movie action scenes. Symbol recognition fov of a human being is 60 degree.
I think..
Daydream View 2017 is great for movie watching..
There are already sufficient viewing fov to watch movies.

Drift solution
1) Compass correction.
2) Gyro sensor calibration.

( I don't know why. People report being affected.)
4) To find the controller location,
turn on location options.
It seems to affect controller drift or screen drift.
I'm not sure.
As for drift issues,
Google has advised to fully charge the controller.
I think there could be some kind of correction.
and someone recommand location - device only option.

There are no gyrosensor and compass compensation options on Xzp.
Use GPS status app.

Jiggy screen issue
<
Quoting..
Shelly tom' post in
https://www.reddit.com/r/daydream/comments/7asyyt/daydream_s8_jiggy_screen/
TL;DR - thick phone case or dirty center "nubs" in daydream view may cause that issue.
When it starts shaking and while still wearing it, try pushing on the daydream view flap and phone as if opening it. If the shaking stops the contacts are dirty.
Also, the little center nubs do three things.
they center your view.
they also resize the height from thick phone cases. This is why there are two of them.
they cause your display to jump around or "vibrate" when dirty.
Take the phone out and wipe down the nubs and the device where they meet. It should allow for a better contact and stop the shaking. If it looks clean there could be oil residue.
With curved glass phones, I've observed that thick phone cases may cause the bottom "nub" to not fully make contact on the lower part. Games with more motion from looking around causes the phone to shift slightly up thus causing poor contact on the lower "nub". The poor contact is the source of the shaking screen in this case.
>
Sometimes jiggy screen issue has come up.
so I decide to don't use cases and films on smartphones.
In my experience,
It was convenient not to use cases and films on smart phones. This is a subjective conclusion.
I use smart phone coating liquid instead.
It's a German-made nano tol pro product.
There are a lot of coating products.
----------------------
8. about color and screen door effect
Daydream view 2017 is Fresnel lense.
Fresnel lense doesn't express the difference between the brightest and darkest colors very well.
Have two effects.
1. bad image quality.
2. but reduced screen door effects.
sony stock color mode
1. standard mode is suitable nomral lense(ex antvr)
2. vivid mode is suitable fresnel lense(ex daydream)
vivid mode maximizes the contrast between the brightest and darkest colors. complements the fresnel-lense defect.
edit.
https://youtu.be/IrircflFHzw
( Looking for images related to color, I linked this video.
I'm sorry if it doesn't suit your taste.^^; )
You can see it by changing the color mode settings while watching this video.
You will also notice that the screen door effect is strong on the strong primary colors.
because
In strong primary colors, the brightness contrast between brightest and darknest sub-pixel is maximized...
However,
it should be noted that this is not a regular colored video.
--------
Additional
This is my solution
from daydream view 2017 and vivid mode
If you don't like the color,
increase the color red in white balance setup.
If the screen is yellow, increase the color blue in white balance setup.
edit.
20180425
The higher the resolution, the better it is for the screen door effect. Because at lower resolutions, pixels are clustered together. Screen door effect looks bigger. High resolution is advantageous for the screen door effect.

9. heat issue
The foil method is neat, simple.

Screen shift app
I recently noticed this app
screen shift app.
Screen Shift: Customize your display. More details at http://aravindsagar.github.io/ScreenShift/
It was easy to change the resolution without adb command.
<attach Daydream view 2017 qr code>
when using Moonlight Daydream,
you can comfortably enjoy the screen by leaning back like youtube vr (move screen up)
With lens
Screen distance 40
Distance between lenses 64
Bottom-center distance 40(original 35 )
Distortion
k1 = 0.4331
k2 = -0.085
Four 'fov figures' are 55.
If the resolution is 4k and the qr code is 4k,
double this number(excluded 'distortion','fov') to generate the qr code.
If the resolution is 4k and the qr code is 4k,
Moonlight for daydream video image quality is better.
You can use my magisk module. It's in the repo. Daydream enabler.
If you use sony stock oreo rom....
Daydream In the latest version, the library has disappeared from Daydream Home.(stock oreo rom)

Daydream Version: 1.16.180604056 (180604056) Android 7.0+

But
You can use the latest version of the Google vr service.
I'm on the Carbon ROM and no matter what I do with any 8.1 ROM, I can't get the Daydream controller to be detected when starting Daydream, but it pairs fine.

[GUIDE] TLink Hi-DPI Split Mode Android Auto / CarPlay

Thanks to the earlier thread with TLink versions, I updated my TLink to v2.0.12.
I've only tested the below on this version, so its best to grab it from there. Additionally I only have Android, so this is tested on Android Auto only.
It turns out that TLink reads a 'hidden' configuration file in order to initialize a few things. This configuration file allows us to specify both the screen and video parameters.
More importantly for Android Auto, we can also set the pixel density, much like Headunit Reloaded which enables split mode in Android Auto.
An example configuration for my 2000x1200 high resolution TS10 headunit is as follows:
INI:
#channelId
dingwei
#Configuration
AAUTO_DISPLAY_VIDEO_WIDTH=1920
AAUTO_DISPLAY_VIDEO_HEIGHT=1080
AAUTO_DISPLAY_VIDEO_DENSITY=238
#AAUTO_DISPLAY_VIDEO_FPS=25
CARPLAY_FULL_SCREEN_DISPLAY=true
#CARPLAY_IAP_PATH=
CARPLAY_DISPLAY_VIDEO_WIDTH=2000
CARPLAY_DISPLAY_VIDEO_HEIGHT=1200
#CARPLAY_SCREEN_TOUCH_WIDTH=
#CARPLAY_SCREEN_TOUCH_HEIGHT=
#CARPLAY_SCREEN_MM_WIDTH=
#CARPLAY_SCREEN_MM_HEIGHT=
#MPU_STATUS_BAR_HEIGHT=
#SPEEDPLAY_CONFIG_FILE_PATH=
#SPEED_PLAY_MODE_SUPPORT_DEFAULT=
The configuration file should be created at /data/local/tmp/suding/sdcf and should have 777 or a+xrw rights.
I was able to copy the file into the right location using Terminal Emulator for Android, but there may well be better methods.
If you are going the terminal emulator way, type the following commands. This is assuming you placed your sdcf file in your Downloads folder on the headunit.
Bash:
cd /data/local/tmp/suding/
cp /storage/emulated/0/Download/sdcf sdcf
chmod a+xrw sdcf
After this your can start TLink and you should see the changes. If you do not see any changes, TLink was already started and you should probably reboot the headunit.
Looking forward to people testing for the best optimized values or easier ways to update the configuration file.
Great work!

Technically you can put any value you want in the width and height attributes. Although I can't test, and really don't know what Android Auto will do on a vertical layout.
In short TLink tells your phone what the video projection stream attributes are (Android Auto is just a video stream) and your phone then sends this stream.
Worth trying on your vertical display to see what happens.
i have tried with tesla type screen but i couldnt find correct resolution. screen has 768x1024 res but when i set it AA looks awfull. it becomes like compressed from long sides. and icons got bigger.
Can you please put some screenshot of Android Auto after this change?

Bit older photo, because now it switched to the new Coolwalk UI. But after the changes I get Hi-DPI full edge to edge display in Android Auto.
(Note, I had to remove some identifying text on the navigation, so some areas are blurred on purpose).

Can you please provide a bit more details about how to generate the configuration file and how to copy it to the destination folder?
Can you also please attach your configuration file?

The exact contents of my file are documented in the initial post. I've attached the same sample file here, change the values as needed.
The cd command will fail if you have never ran TLINK before or you are not running the TLINK version as linked above.
This mod not seems compatible with tlink5

All I can do to force AA to work in new UI is to change the resolution of my head unit to 1280x750 or higher with around 180 DPI to make the AA work in split screen mode.

For this workaround, are you able to pinch zoom google maps while with TLink, compares to Headunit Reloaded? Because in headunit reloaded i able to pinch zoom the area.

I am absolutely new to Android, but since I have installed the android car screen in my old jeep, I just had to deep dive. The app that I have is Tlink but version shows 5.3.01 which is what is called TLink5 (all other forums mentions TLink versions 2.xxx so it is just my guess).
In my case I was using a file manager app to locate the path and file showing at the beginning of the thread. I have used my TS18 screen with this version of TLink for wireless CarPlay but the problem is that Waze maps show huge (everything in general looks too big, like the icons for CarPlay apps, etc). There are just 4 columns instead of 5, so other than the screen size, how do u setup this TLink in terms of screen size? What other parameters could I adjust? Thanks...

Have you been able to pinch and make it smaller (Waze or Google Maps)?
Thanks
Thank you so much @darkvoid this has changed my head unit experience so much!
Unfortunately, the pinch to zoom isn't working for me.
I got the code change to work on my TS10.1.1 HDPI 360 head unit running T-Link 2.0.12
I fiddled a bit with the settings that you provided.
Tried changing the AA resolution to the natural resolution of the screen 2000x1200, but that failed! I now know AA can only go up to 1920x1080 (so note for anyone else looking at that)
The only thing I ended up changing was AAUTO_DISPLAY_VIDEO_DENSITY=200
this made it so things appear smaller on the screen - more to my liking but to each their own I have a 10.5 inch screen
SMALLER NUMBER = Smaller text/Image (high res looking)
LARGER NUMBER = Enlarged text/image (low res looking) - if you go too high you lose the side panel
here are some screenshots of what it looks like for me still waiting on Coolwalk to roll out, hopefully it's soon.
I'm in a right-hand drive country so the side panel is on the left.
With Waze - No map on the side when other app is set to main.
With Google Maps - it shows the map on the side panel

Great to hear its working. You are indeed correct that the AA standard (as well as the TLINK code) supports a maximum resolution of 1920x1080. Any value beyond that is ignored.
I have exposed all the values that I found in the config file that I supplied, both Android and iPhone. Nothing related to pinch to zoom functionality that I could see.
I'll test pinch to zoom on my radio today in both Google Maps and Waze and report back.
