[Q] Flashing older version of Windows Phone - Windows Phone 8 Development and Hacking

I have a Lumia 1520 RM-937 APAC HK YELLOW variant. Is there a possibility that i can flash older 8.0 version of windows phone os?
Every time i use recovery software, it gives me 8.1 version but i want to flash the version that the phone came with.

If the stock firmware is on NaviFirm you should be good. I'm not a Lumia user, so I can't confirm anything.
Take a look at this guide, which uses WPID instead of the Nokia tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2515453

Yes, you can, in following the link that G.moe told you.
However, you can not go to a version lower than Lumia Black/WP8.0 GDR3.

Thanks guys, will try to do that

Ok, i followed the method from that link. Seems like Navifirm downloaded Lumia Denim rom again...... Its Windows Phone 8.10....
I'm losing faith............

@Ryukenden
In the tutorial, I says:

If don't have NaviFirm+ in paid account, it is what happens. If you have NaviFirm+ in paid account, so you can DL any version (within the limits of device) of the ROM. If you do not want to pay for a premium account, then you can see here to the DL of the ROM. Once you've got the ROM (the FFU file), it'll just follow the tutorial ("Installation of the ROM" part).

Thanks man, the link you posted is a life saver it seems

Hey how did you get NCS to work? The only thing that works for me is firmware download, but since I can't browse all the product codes (mine doesn't have any updates, developer phone), how can I get the correct versions?
Could you check if Amber is yet available for 820?
this is some rom for lumia.

hmm does this work all lumia 520 phones?
I am using Nokia Lumia 520 without AT&T. Can I flash my phone with these files? Can anyone show me how to do it because it refuse for the wrong model

MT7-TL10 B121 International Firmware

Ne firmware from Huawei Ru
http://consumer.huawei.com/ru/suppo...x.htm?id=36521&pname=MT7-TL10&pcode=Jazz-TL10
Release date 26/01
Should be for international TL10
No chance log
Has someone tested?
Just did the update. It went well, no problem, I'm yet to find any difference from the previous ones.
Does the phone, with it's very large screen, still show LESS information than a smaller phone? C'mon, the software on this thing totally sucks. I have a giant screen with such ridiculous font spacing, meaning I get less information on my 6-inch screen than I can get on a 5-inch model such as a P6. What kind of sad joke is this?
Does the new software fix this problem? If not, I have a mint Mate 7 for sale, used only long enough to see Huawei has made no progress with their software.

I'm from the Philippines and I downloaded the B121 firmware from the link above and flashed it on my phone, I extracted and put the dload folder in my external SD card and did a local update via the updater under menu options, nothing was erased after except for root, so I rooted my phone again via CWM.
By the way, I also have the MT7-TL10 32gb/3gb version and did not get any updates from the updater, i was also in B120 SP04 before I flashed the B121.

I'm running Chinese version MT7-TL10 V100 R001 CHN C00 B122 SP06 and could not "downgrade" to this international version. I just get an "update failed". Any ideas how to go back a step so I can get the international version?

Why do you want to downgrade? I was having some thought on updating my firmware to that of the Chinese version.
You can flash the firmware manually through adb, you'll need to extract the firmware. There are other threads in here that discusses about that.
My Italian Mt7 TL10 failed b121 update
I tried locL update, from recovery and by Hisuite
All failed, didnt even start

I want to downgrade because the Chinese version has issues. I have owned many HW phones and running a Chinese load is always a PITA. I want a normal international load that does not perpetually harass me with Huawei store stuff, that does not provide its own broken Calendar and Mail app, and that lets me manage my SIM cards correctly since I need dual SIM support to work in a specific way.
Unfortunately, I read the instructions for installing an international load over top of a Chinese load. I don't want to root my device, have never rooted a device, don't know how, don't want to know how, etc. It seems I am stuck. Even if I changed my mind, the instructions are not newbie level, so I very much doubt I could follow instructions that are not step-by-step "press this", "type that", unless I devote a lot of research. I could buy a new phone for cheaper than the time I would invest in this.

I bought a russian version of the phone and after many times of ROM's flashing I ended up with chinise B122. Now I also want to migrate to European version and do not know how. It's not a problem for me to get a root and I also can try to dig dipper to figure out how to make the downgrade. Can you be so kind and provide me with a link for instructions you read, please, so I can try it myself. Thank you.

What issues are you facing with the rom?. If it's only stating "Grace" in the model section that's ok, you can change it back in build.prop if you are rooted but i don't think it's necessary. In fact if you check the build.prop by default in the model section it says Grace.
This is my build.prop.
It's same to me - my device is stated as GRACE, I don't know why. Look after build.prop but because I've seen it at many places there .... leaved it intact.

Yes it's normal, C900B320 is the same as C636B320 just name numbering difference. I think all the Asian Marshmallow roms are C900B320 for the dual sim version. I think the reason for the changes in your phone is because of your first failed attempt to unlock your bootloader might have corrupted your phone old info so you get the default values.
As long as your IMEI isn't corrupted that's the important thing and the phone is working fine don't worry. If you are still not comfortable with the changes, try to download a Marshmallow rom for your model from Huawei website and install it. See if things changes.
Not agree. First C900 is custom regional version. My was C432.for Europe (don't remember north or west Europe). That's not such.big.problem but.could be for next OTAs. And last, actual rom from GRA-L09 is MM B321. I'm lost about devices version of that guy, sorry....

The numbering has changed after Marshmallow for all regions my previous lollipop version was C470B200 .. but now after upgrading to Marshmallow it's C636B320 and this numbering is for all south east Asia region (Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia......). If you check the build.prop the system version it says C900B320 and i am on C636B320.
Middle east region changed from C433 to C180.
That sounds logical. Thank you.
My is GRA-C900B321

Do you need to replace the firmware is?

I don't think you need to, but if you want to try it's up to you.
Just make sure you have the stock recovery back if you changed it to Twrp. Then download your model Marshmallow rom from Huawei and flash it without using DC Unlocker.
Make sure if you want to go back to Lollipop you have to flash the transition package before going back to an old rom.
I have to change the firmware?
If yes, what should I install the firmware? (My phone's bootloader is unlocked)
HuaweiCloud previous firmware ... but this ROM does not have this feature!

Nokia 6.1 plus - downgrade from android Pie to Oreo? / Flashing stock firmware?

I updated to android Pie on my Nokia 6.1 plus TA-1103. It's too buggy and I don't like it a bit! Downgrading to Oreo "over the air" method via Nokia beta labs doesn't work for my carrier.
I see that official Oreo firmware is available for download. Is there any way to flash it back now when I am currently on Android 9.0 ?

These are definitely the zips of stock ROM. But these are designed to take you forward and not backward (unless a specially designed package is pushed by the company). So, your only means to downgrade is via Nokia Care channels or paid downgrade services available online.

It is the same for all WW variants of the device. So, you can flash any WW firmware if your bootloader is unlocked. Otherwise it is not possible to flash on your own.

Hi mate, PM me if your bootloader is unlocked and I can go though the steps to downgrade to 8.1
I've been shown how to do it and its tried and tested & working well.
If your bootloader is locked, then search for the paid service to unlock it. He will also downgrade it at the same time.
Nokia X6 with Custom Oreo ROM - How to load stock Android Pie 6.1 plus image
Hi,
I bought a Nokia X6 in September 2018 (6GB/64GB) and would like to install the Stock Nokia 6.1 Plus Android 9 image.
I see my phone is rooted and it shows the message "Your device has loaded a different operating system." everytime I start it and I have to use Magisk to hide several banking applications.
The phone works great and I knew it was going to be relased in Europe eventually, but I am scared to brick it by loading the Android 9 Image.
I already tried attempting the update through OTA but the zip file is ignored. Nothing happens.
I am new to this forum so I don't know if my question has been asked by someone else.
Can you please help me?
Thank you!
- - - Since I am reading that Pie is not that good, I would be happy to stay with Oreo as long as I can use stock and unroot. Have you got any tips for it? ---

Strange that the seller has sent you a rooted phone. Anyways, yes, you can install the global version IF your bootloader is unlocked. And that works fine for a few phones I tried it on

thank you for coming back to me.
How can I find out if it is unlocked? Also, can you please point me to the right firmware? I have the TA-1099.
I believe the rooted it to install the custom Oreo rom as the Nokia 6.1 Plus had not been released when I purchased the Nokia X6. I actually paid £ 100 less because of this

It won't need root to install a different official ROM. The flash tools for internal usage don't need root.
You can check the device's bootloader status using Fastboot commands. Make sure fastboot drivers are installed. Then put your Nokia in Download mode. After that use the following command:
fastboot oem device-info

Thanks singhnsk
I downloaded ADB and fastboot, along with the latest Nokia X6 USB Drivers.
I am following the guide here : https://www.getdroidtips.com/nokia-6-1-plus-stock-firmware/#The_Advantage_ofStock_Firmware and I would like to avoid having the original X6 firmware (chinese) and use the 6.1 plus instead, but not sure which one.
Also, what is in your opinion the best XDA post I can follow for the upgrade? Is the one above ok? I just need to unroot my device and install the stock 6.1 Plus Oreo (or Pie if is getting better) making sure it will work with my Vodafone and Three UK Sim Card (which are working fine for now).
Thanks again

Actually, it depends on what condition your device is in right now. If the bootloader is unlocked (fastboot oem device-info), then you will be able to install the global firmware.
On the other hand if the device has a locked bootloader, then a tutorial alone won't help. You'll need to buy a remote flashing service to flash the global ROM onto the device. The flash tool needs to gain the flash permission from FIH servers to gain a temporary elevation to flash files to a locked bootloader.

Hi,
I followed this guide to go into fastboot mode: https://www.hardreset.info/devices/nokia/nokia-x6-2018/fastboot-mode/
When I do, I can only see "Download mode" on the top left and the big logo "powered by Android", that's it.
Is that correct or?
I allowed my bootloader to be unlocked, for the developer options, but I don't seem to find a way to boot in fastboot mode. I will try volume up + powerbutton shortly.

The download mode = fastboot mode. So, you reached the right place.
The developer option setting has no use on a Nokia phone. It just does nothing. But since you're seeing that option, your bootloader is most likely still locked. If you are on July or an older Android Security patch, then you can unlock the bootloader by buyng an unlock key. After that you can unlock it and then flash the global firmware.

Hi, yes I think so at this point. I am on May security patch and it does not show any new updates when I check. I am thinking to unroot it at this point and keep it with Android 8.1 unrooted, but I am not sure I will get the updates from Nokia.
What do you think?
Thanks for your reply and I hope all this information is useful to the other members of the forum.
Update: I just bought the unlock code and waiting for it. I will let you know how it goes.
Downgrade from Android 9 to Android 8
Hello!
I downloaded this file: https :// drive.google.com/uc?id=1BUR6xrbgbVlMQDyHz6oXZpmPrlRuFYgY&export=download
from this forum: http: // forum.gsmdevelopers.com/nokia-android-phones/72857-nokia-6-1-plus-ta-1083-exclusive-tasted-firmware-ch_sameer.html
and apparently it's possible to downgrade from Android 9 to Android 8. The file contains the OST LA program and the stock ROM for TA-1083 (DRG-237B-0-00WW-B05) in .nb0 format. The program asks for user and password, but I read somewhere that it's possible to patch it or edit it with Notepad++. I'm new to this and I don't know how to use the program.
Can someone more experienced test this method and report back, please?

You cannot crack/patch OST LA. The patched version will work on bootloader unlocked devices only. For the others, there's no way to flash without having the login to server with account.

The " Device 7 Binary 6 " error means that this version of firmware that you want to install has an older version of bootloader. and by installing the wrong firmware, that means your bootloader version has changed into a new one, maybe the newest by now. What your phone is trying to say in other words is that you can't downgrade your bootloader.
Explanation for what I wrote above is quite simple, ignore the last 4 characters on each version that you posted here, and you have: G935FXXS7xxxx and G935FXXS6xxxx.
Using TWRP is the best way to avoid the problem of different versions of bootloaders.
Though, you shall wait for samsung to upload a newer version if you trully wish to have your phone stock 100%.
