How do you get the Android OS back? - Galaxy Tab 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Galaxy Tab 4.7.0 stopped working when I tried to erase an app. So I have Team Win Recovery installed. At first I though it was a firmware issue so I had it flashed. Then I realized every time I reboot or power off it says, "No OS Installed." I must have erased it when I used factory reset. So what can I do?

You are dealing with a "bug" common/specific to TWRP
boot into TWRP and use the format data option to correct your data partition, before you do that though,
run adb and pull any important files from internal storage.

That didn't work. I still get the "No OS Installed!" Is there a way to install the operating system from somewhere?

Use Odin to flash that firmware file I was telling you about earlier. It has the OS included in it

Sorry for replying so late, I've been busy. I tried to flash again and still no luck. It also says the device isn't rooted, could that be the problem why the flash isn't working? I tried to
re-root, but that's not working. I do not know what else to do.

What version of Odin are you using? Because when I connect my tablet, all that's stated is was I had posted before, nothing else. But after reading what is suppose to logged, it may seem the system and everything else was wiped and or corrupted. The tablet starts up to the first screen, and just stays there. A few things I forgot to mention was; at one point when I connected the tab to my laptop, it open the storage which was recognized as Dalvik, or something like that. And this whole situation took place when I installed an app called Freedom. I tried to get rid of it, but Google Play refused to let me login. So I factory reset. It could also be the app Lucky Patcher too. I tried to modify the Google Play to try and see if it would fix the login issues. And I ended having to uninstall the current version of Play to an earlier version.. So I'm at a loss on what to do. I'm might end up getting a new one if there are no other solutions.

My Galaxy Tab 4 (US Cellular), model SM-T537R4 will NOT enter 'download' mode in the usual way (On+VOL-). It simply ignores this and boots into the US Cellular screen, then boots as normal.
Is there any way to access download mode, other than the ON + Vol- method?

At first you must to install USB drivers on your PC http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117#none .
Then go to download mode on your device .
Then connect to PC and install your firmware via Odin . ( this instruction how install firmware via Odin , for example :
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/45899/T230XXU0AOC1_T230ITV0AOC2_ITV/ ).

Second variant : restoring firmware with Kies .

Is there a CyanogenMod update I can flash to a Galaxy Tab 4 (US Cellular), model SM-T537R4 (rooted) using Odin? With TWRP?

Unfortunately I don't think there are any custom roms compatible with your tablet model available yet. Sorry
Although, thanks, did not know about your model number. Will be added to my firmware collection ASAP

Yeah I'm blushing writing this message. It turns out, you're suppose to press the start button on odin to see if the firmware is compatible; I think. Then press again to install it. Wow! I'll admit, I never was never that computer-savvy, but DAMN! This is a new low for me.

Please Update this Problem
Hi Sam, Please let me know if you fixed your problem. I Think I have the same situation. My computer does Not recognize the Galaxy Tab 4. I can put the Tab into download but....computer does not see the tab. Help Please???!!!! Thanks Harold

Im now getting a pass from I337MVLUAMDJ in odin, but the phone still wont boot to recovery or the OS
Odin back to stock. Don't use what's in my description.

Make sure your trying to flash the same version of firmware.... if the phone was originally on 4.3 you can't flash back to 4.2. You can go up versions but not down... if the bootloader is 4.3 you can't get to 4.2
I tried flashing the stock firmware but it failed, but when i use a version above stock i get a pass from odin, the phone resets but when boots, gets stuck on the samsung galaxy s4 screen, and wont boot to recovery..or the OS....

Help Accidentally Wiped Stock Rom

I have an SCH-i545 S4. It was running Jelly Bean 4.3 at the time rooted using Super SU and still have TWRP recovery.
I was trying to install the new lollipop update manually and forgot to switch from stock to a ROM slot in TWRP recovery and wiped the stock ROM.
I try to use Odin to flash stock firmware and revert to unrooted, but I get the following error: (I am able to get phone into download Odin mode)

Using Odin 3.09 and trying to flash :
ALL_I545VRUEMK2_I545VZWEMK2_1937946_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
Not sure if I'm using the wrong stock firmware and Odin version.
Let me know what I'm doing wrong thank you!
You can't flash older firmwares.
Odin 3.09 worked fine for me in the past, buy it doesn't hurt to try a different version.
Also, use the back USB ports if you have a pc.
Try different USB cables and windows versions too. Odin is quite picky.
My setup was Windows 7 x64 Pro with Odin 3.09. Using the back USB and original cable I never had an issue flashing stuff with Odin.

So I should be flashing the latest lollipop firmware vs. the older kit kat or jellybean?
odin is failing when flashing aboot.mbn because the rom has a bootloader that is older than the bootloader on the phone.
Flashing a stock LP or kk should work if the phone was running a stock 4.3 rom.

Sounds reasonable since recovery is probably gone.
This is the verizon version of the phone? Have you tried using the original USB cable as previously suggested, a different USB port, or operating system?

Anyway, did you wipe before flashing the firmware? Cuz Odin will not do it for you.
have you tried flashing different versions of the rom?
When flashing, did you try unchecking everything except f.reset time? When it finishes flashing, power off the phone by removing the USB cable and then the battery. Replace the battery and boot directly to recovery to perform a factory wipe, then reboot to the rom.

Or you can just hold the power button for a couple of seconds until it turns off
That will work too but I find removing the battery to be easier for me.

Bought this to make into a rooted note 4. Not my main phone yet, I have an AT&T version.
Attempted to root following the directions on CFROOT, that got me to this point. Now have spent 2 days searching for solutions and trying things. No progress!
In download mode Using Odin 3.9 and 3.10.7 the CFROOT file report success but stuck in recovery booting. Attempting to reinstall the entire firmware Odin log:

You're in the wrong place. These are the S4 forums, not Note 4.
Anyway, AT&T devices have a locked bootloader and I don't think CF-Auto-Root can root those.
So you may have to find another solution to rooting.
But before that you may have to flash the stock firmware again, as the current one is messed up by the failed root flash.
Thank you
I thought I had the right forum. Can I move this to another forum. Or should I start a new thread and delete this?

This method for n910t
1,Flash twrp recovery in odin
2,Boot into twrp by pressing volume up+home+power buttons together.
3,flash supersu.zip latest version from twrp
Your phone may reboot couple of times so don't freak out its normal.
Thats it
You will have permanent root and your device will boot fine.
Twrp recovery below

Supersu below

Dont try this on AT&T it will not work and you may brick your device.
Thanks Dubai. But I did some thing wrong! On step 1 above Odin log file:

Anyone have a stock firmware for the T-mobile Galaxy Tab E T377T? I rooted without making a Nandroid backup and then uninstalled some system apps and broke something. Thanks!
I can't really find it anywhere on the net. I am looking for SM-T377A, so if anyone finds it please post here. Please and thank you. In exchange I will share the frp solution for the TAB E. I can't use this solution unless I I have stock firmwares
I found it here for your device: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=1059DC7F613411E69A56FA163EE8F90B
and here for mine: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=14ABF2135BCD11E6B055FA163EE8F90B

Try this link again. I just checked it and it worked for me. http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=AD35E725DDA911E69215FA163EE8F90B
You just have to wait 120 seconds for it to let you start the download.
When i try to download it it says too many users have viewed or downloaded this file recently.

What are you doing and what is it telling you? You should be able to add the tar file to the AP tab in Odin, hit start, then reboot to recovery by holding volume up, power and home button.

Make sure you're running Odin as Administrator.
If you are, you might have to create a new tar file from the img file at https://dl.twrp.me/gteslte/ using this method described here: http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2013/04/android-how-to-convert-img-recovery-to.html
I had to do that once for some reason.

After Odin says "PASS" you have to reboot to recovery before booting the device by holding volume up, power and home buttons. This should boot you into TWRP. If you boot the device without doing this first, you have to reflash TWRP.

Ok, Odin passed it again and I've rebooted into recovery before booting and I'm in TWRP right now. Now what do I need to do?
