App crashing problems - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

TBH I don't know what the hell happened to my phone one day I picked up my phone and EVERY SINGLE APP I open just lasts for a minuet and crashes for no reason!? even my keyboard my TouchWiz launcher EVERYTHING!! I think the problem from this app: (Android WebView) because someone who have the same phone have this very same problem.
One more thing the screen is doing weird things too?!
Anyone who knows what the hell is happening to my phone please let me know what to do.
PS: It's a stock Note 4 running Android 5.0.1 lollipop not rooted N910C Exynos variant.
Thanks in advance!

Actually after posting this I did a factory reset but just after updating several apps the problem came again.

One thing that I noticed that when I leave the screen without touching it the app stays just fine like YouTube watching movies and like that but when I start browsing and scrolling the app crash... WTF?!

That is kinda odd really....maybe flashing a different firmware would help.I haven't really experienced app crashing like that...

Thanks for your time man!
Yeah that's really what bothers me a lot!
I cleared the cache but it helped for a few hours and came back again but now I force-stopped that app and then unstalled the updates then disabled it, Now I don't have any problems "for now" but I think that app really missed up my screen because the screen before disabling it was giving weird colors... anyway I really hope that it'll never encounter me again! My phone was literally unusable!

Strange (repeatable) reboot issue

Not sure if it's just me, but every/any time I try to open up the USA Today app, my phone reboots.
I've tried clearing data, clearing cache, uninstalling/reinstalling and the same thing - click the icon, splash screen, droid animation...
Anybody else?

Ok, glad it's not just me!
Absolutely love this phone, but was beginning to think I might've gotten a lemon. Guess will just have to wait for the JB update :fingers-crossed:

And the plot thickens lol
I installed the app just to see, and it reboots my phone after the splash screen as well. (on wifi)
No problems here - that "do you want alerts?" notification pops up immediately after the splash screen... maybe a coincidence, but worth mentioning... I guess.

doesnt happen to me either. I said "no" to alerts -- if it's rebooting, did you say "yes" to alerts?
Never even got to that point.

Is this freshly downloaded or being restored from a previous account? I wonder if you have the right one for ICS. Mine is v. 1.9.

I'm wondering if it's some conflict between two apps.
Update: took a quick look at the reviews and see one person reporting it -- are you dmitry?

I've got the same problem here. Weirdly, it also occurs when I try and use the AP Mobile app. Happens if I'm on wifi or mobile data.
Maybe part of Moto's plan to deny us access to quality news apps?
I came to the boards to see if this random rebooting was just my problem but seems like it is not. My phone has been rebooting for the last 3 nights in a row around the same time, 10pm eastern time. No clue what is causing it.
Also tried the USA Today app and yes it does reboot the phone.
Very strange...
Another issue I have is....my phone screen kinda flickers and starts getting brighter from dimmed screen.
Anyone else gets this?
UPDATE: I just saw this in the general section - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919581
and I also installed Nova Launcher recently and I feel like that might be the culprit...This is really really strange.

[Q] Samsung S4 somewhat sluggish and slow?

Hi, just got my S4 and have tried it for a couple of hours now.
Is it just me or is the phone somewhat sluggish and slow in the animations? Are anyone else experiencing this?
Its like it is stuttering when I open or close a program or opens the menu with my apps..
I have tried to disable some of the obvious apps that I won’t be using (chaton.. etc). But still, it has some hiccups when sliding and just using it..

I have had problems with my phone over heating when im browsing or sending a text, watching vids ect. Also my phone has randomly reset a good few times, I think because its over heated. I got really frustrated and looked on line for help and found nothing.... soo I figured it out for my self.*Step 1: back up anything u need. Contacts... pictured .. vids ect.step 2. Do a factory reset and wipe everythingstep 3 set up the phone as normal. Sign in to your samsung account then google all from the set up screens.step 3. When u are all set up and have reached the home screen there will b a message at the top on the pull down notification bar saying samsung push. DO NOT CLICK AND UPDATE THIS. I have found that this is the problem with the phone over heating. If u update this then u will also get incouraged to update samsung apps + samsung hub. ALSO DO NOT CLICK ON SAMSUNG APP OR SAMSUNG HUB.. i reset my phone 4 times to try different things and this worked. I can nkw watch you tube vids. Brows the net play games ect. Yes my phone gets warm but not boiling like it used to and also my phone has not reset by its self no more. so just remember on the pull down notification bar it will say samsung push! Dont click on it, just click clear and ignore it. I have emailed samsung my solution and they said they will look into it. So do this untill they release a new update... who uses samsung push. Samsung app and hub anyway? Not me.. good luck and let me know how you get on

S5 lollipop... Memory leak

Okay, so I've been running the official polish lollipop rom on my UK O2 phone for about three weeks now, and I've noticed sometimes when pressing the home button it takes ages to redraw the icons on the home screen, it's started FCing apps and reset itself today once and yesterday once.
I also swiped away all the apps open earlier, and when I went back in they were all back there again.
It's totally stock, no launcher even.
I cleared my cache yesterday and it had no effect.
Anybody else having behaviour like this?

OOS 5.1.1 Lag

Hey guys. Is anyone here experiencing random lag moments after updating OOS to 5.1.1? It happens completely random, mostly when scrolling.

Nope, haven't exoerienced any scrolling lag on 5.1.1. Does it happen in all apps for you or just some specific ones? Because some apps are not so well optimized and it can happen

The lag is not app related as it happens in the whole system (Launcher, Settings, Notifications bar)...
A restart solves the problem for the moment but after a couple of hours (maybe days) it comes back and is there for a couple of seconds and then it's gone for a couple of seconds then comes back, and so on...
Nope, have you tried factory restart?

I haven't gotten there yet as the problem isn't bugging me so much. I wanted to know if I am the only one with this problem, but a factory restart will surely come soon. Maybe unlock the bootloader and root then.

I've tried it but it doesn't lag. Maybe I should try it when the whole system is lagging.

Having weird stutters when scrolling too. Also sometimes opening apps feels choppy like there is something going on I can´t explain.
Tried factory reset but issue is still there.
If you turn on the GPU Graph you´ll see those spike right when the stutter occurs, there is something uneven but I´m lost on this one
I don´t think this is an OS issue as I had this before 5.1.1 too .. kinda started randomly
Hello again,
Wanted to inform you that I also actually just encountered that problem. It is really weird indeed. A restart fixes it but then in about a day or two the issue appears again. I am actually going to switch roms for the time being because of that.

android 10 jitters after update

Ever since I got android 10 my phone gets these random jitters from time to time. Also I noticed whenever I'm in an app and I close to go back to my home screen the home screen refreshes (using nova) I don't ever recall having these issues on pie. It just seems really buggy. I never got to try the beta's since my country didn't have the program.
How did you install the update, OTA, sideload, SmartSwitch?

I really don't want to wipe. I put so much time into customizing everything the way i want it
Mine hasn't been hitting at all, however sometimes when I pull my notification shade down and then expand a notification it freezes. I'm almost ready to do a factory reset to see if that fixes it
Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
I also noticed that the ram management has been horrible. I notice this after the phone has been rebooted and it's several hours later. Never was like that on pie
If you backup, it takes like 10 minutes to factory reset and restore. You could be done by now...

Don't "lol" as you've clearly never backed up & restored on nonrooted Android or via Samsung SmartSwitch.. They don't cover everything, by a mile.
Not sure why you you think it's okay around here to recommend something you don't understand. People are looking for help, not uniformed smugness.

I did it not to long ago, enjoy your bugs.
I have jitters and stutters within both Samsung and Gmail apps. I also get freezing when I pull down my notification shade and try to expand Gmail notifications. The latter happens about 80%of the time where as email jitter and stutters are constant. I have factory reset twice without restoring from any backups.
This did not do this in PIE.

Same here. Horrible ram management, random freezes. Samsung is definitely rushing to release the "stable" version of the android 10.
Not quite sure why people still believes doing a factory reset can fix everything.
For me scrolling in any internet browser is choppy.
Yeah so it seems they released this update too early and it's still feeling like a beta. I'll probably wait til January patch comes out and see if they fixed it
Am also experiencing the same random jitters this thread is talking about. I updated to Android 10 (BSKO) the day it became available to Greece (EUR, December 9th) on my S10+ (SM-G975F). Am holding up till January update before resetting and possibly downgrading, first versions of Android OSes suck in general anyway. Bit of advice, if your S10 is having a "lag attack" on Android 10, do not, under no circumstances open the camera. Touch input will freeze up and camera will just show a laggy feed of what's going on for about 5-7 minutes before unlagging and forcing a reboot.
