SD Card deleting files issue - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have Omega v41 Lollipop rom. Whenever i delete anything on my sd card it appears again after the reboot. I am not sure what is causing this. Any suggestions?

Does it work if you delete it from your pc?
It might be a dead sd card otherwise.

Can you add files to it?
Is the card set up as being write protected?

I have tried pc formatted the card and also used the phone format method. 40gb worth of data keeps coming back in original format.

I guess it has reached it write limit.

You can try another card to see if the problem persists. If it does your phone is screwy. If it doesn't the SD card is cooked.

Yeah guys it looks like card is becoming faulty. Tried another sd card phone has formatted it fine and using it now. Its a shame how these card break so easily.

dont think so pal, happened to me with stock card from phone :/
True, happened to me as well, and, only formatting the SD solved it. This happened to me using the stock card.
This happened when I was playing around with A2SD, and had created an EXT partition using ROM Manager. It worked well for a fe whours, then these errors started creeping up and I had to format it. Could be something wrong there....

Sd card won't mount via phone or pc. Help?

So this morning I was deleteing files off my sd card from my phone. Then tried to mount it through my computer to put some files on. Wouldn't mount on the pc via the phone.
Disconnected it and it no longer was mounted on my phone.
Took out the card and used a card reader and it no longer was able to be read on my pc without the phone.
Anyone have any ideas to get my sd card back and working. Currently I had to resort to using a 2gb card that I could fill within seconds.

Mine did this yesterday after flashing a ROM. Lost everything. I was able to see things using CWM but not the phone itself or the PC. Formatted it with CWM and it wiped everything but still the phone or computer wouldnt read it. I waited a couple hours and loaded it back into my computer and just left it. A couple minutes later Windows popped up a box asking if I wanted to format it. I did a quick format and it read the card size. Previously it errored out saying it could not format it. I dont know what happened and why it all of a sudden worked

what did you do to solve the problem? I've run into a similar issue, here is a link to a thread I created in Q&A
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218414
I still won't have access to a pc until tomorrow, hopefully ubuntu will be able to work some magic for me
I formatted after using the options under error checking failed. Everything moved exceptionalling slow while doing this however.
I did it under windws xp. Not much difference with win7 or vista I suppose. Ubuntu even.

Everyone having SD card issues, before you format it or do other crazy stuff, try going into your gallery on the phone first. Works for me everytime my sd goes "invisible"

Fixing sd card

I'm having a weird problem with my 16gb sd card I've been using gingerdx 15 and Linux dx 003 and first off my card was working fine but I left the battery die then after turning phone back on the phone is acting as if there's no card is inserted nothing happens when I insert it and it won't Mont or anything I've tryed my old 1gb and it works fine so I tryed the card in a card reader and windows can access it fine so copyed all my stuff off it and run a full disk check and didn't give any errors so I formatted it yet the phone still wont acknowledge the card I don't understand what's going on as the card appears to be fine as windows can read and write to it fine does anyone know why this is happening?
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
Maybe you can try reformat on the phone?
I can't as it just says there's no sd card inserted all the options are unavailable just acts as if I haven't inserted one

In my case i reverted to SE stock ROM eclair and reformat from there.A lot work to do...
Maybe someone here have other solution...
I thought about flashing back just not sure if it will make any difference as far as detecting the card

I have the same problem with my 8GB card in GingerDX, KuyaDroid and GingerCrutz. In GingerXperia, GingerKaskus SD works fine. In CWM 4.0.1.5 my SD is not mounted and I can't mount it manually.
Sorry for bad English.
Well I've just tried flashing back to stock but no luck it still wont read the card

Same...
Same problem.
Try to format it with SDFormater on Pc with Cardreader, on other mobile...
Is it possible the linuxDX does crash some sd?
btw. sometimes my computer can read the sd card but only ~5 mins than crash. Mobile can't read it
I think it was something to do with gingerdx as only had problems with it after installing it and have u tried running check disk on your card to see if it finds errors as I don't have the 5 min thing with computer as my card reads perfectly on computer all the time as I've even done surface scans and it comes up with no errors and ive tried copying music and videos to it and they playback fine

[Q] hudge problem with sd card

Hello. I have a hudge problem with my phone. Somehow it automatically unmounts and remounts my sd card for no reason no matter what rom I use. Sometimes it unmounts my sd card and don't mount for a month. Sometimes it gives damaged sd card error and asks to format it but when I insert my card to tablet and it detects no errors. What could be the problem? Can anyone help me fix this?
Repartition your SD card in recovery
But save your data first

You must clearing ext partition in recovery and format sdcard. + set min cpu fraquancy on 245Mhz.
didn't help
If it does happen with all roms you've tested, including stock 2.1 then your SD card is propably faulty. You formatted it under Windows?

I can't try stock rom because it says that my recovery is to new. SD card can't be faulty because it is new. I had other sd card earlier but my phone didn't recognized it so I bought new. And i have formatted under Windows.

Which ROM are you using?
Now using cm9

Then you have to check different roms and kernels to see under which your SD card works properly. I suggest trying newest AOSP / SDSL or CM 7.2 by Tejas build three.
Maybe is the slot of your SD Card, Why?:
Using every ROM, same device and same problem = device
Used other device and everything ok = the "other" device
So, definitely your slot on your device is bad. Good Luck!

Just delete all partitions and make new (FAT32) with some Live CD if U don't have Linux on PC (for best get gParted Live).
Next put it in Your phone and partition again with CWM 6.0, or just use fat32.
Some customized roms mess up sd card if it has /swap.
Noticed this in some 2.3 custom rom, but don't remember name of it.

SD card won't format

Sup guys. I don't know if this is the right place to post this. But here I go. My 32gb San Disk micro SD card was working fine on my gs3 until I got my s4 and now it seems to be write protected. I can't delete or add anything onto the card. It worked fine on the s3 though. So I Googled a little about this and came across a piece of software, which I downloaded and made use of. But the tool I used to supposedly fix the card actually made it worse. Now the phone can't read it, nor can the PC explore its files (but can detect the device), its like a non allocated partition that just needs formatting. But I have tried windows format utility, SD card formatter, HD low level formatter, and HP USB disk utility software and all of them without success. Please help me as I don't know what else to do.

use cwm recovery to format sdcard. u may need to root ur ph for dat
Yes the galaxy s4 does seam to have issues with sdcards, I myself had corrupt sdcard twice for no apparent reason. Your sdcard will now be in RAW file system and from experience very hard to recover, I've tried dozens of recovery windows apps to fix the partition without success (maybe just didn't try the right app) you can however recover SOME datas on the sdcard but there is no guarrentee how much or what you can successfully recover.
The moral of this story is to ALWAYS backup your data.

Hi, pop it in a camera, if it detects it you are lucky, format it there and you're all set. Unfortunately you will lose all the data

just find an adapter from somewhere, usually one is supplied with the card
I tried clockwork mod recovery with no avail. I have little faith that a camera format tool would work, so I'm not even gonna bother to find a microsd adapter. Sigh. Any other suggestions please? I'm almost giving up

new card?
Yes, that's unfortunately my last resort. I was hoping it didn't have to get to that point though, cause where I live, a 32gb micro SD card is expensive as ****. But oh well. Thank you guys for trying.

Why not just get a card reader and use a PC and partition minitools?
To get your SD card back You may even need to do a LOW LEVEL format. This is very different from a standard format.
Use Google and get a freeware version of a low level format software then repartition USB/flash drive then normal fat32 format.
