On Official Cyanogen OS 12.0. Next is what?! - YU Yureka Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i got around to installing cyanogen os 12.0 without any hitch. but, i want something that has a lot more customisation options.
been reading about a few reputed rom brands viz., PAC-ROM, BlissPop, SOKP, FlexOS, VanirAOSP..... that already have 5.1 releases for yu yureka.
does anyone have first-hand experience on any of these roms (ideally more than one)? which do you think is stable enough for use as 'daily driver'?
thanks in advance for your opinion/comments.

Most Popular OP2 ROM's - Opinion Based?

So now that we have had FP/LAF working on MM ROM's for a few months now, it seems that the ROM development has slowed down...
So far I've tried the following in this order:
CyanPop by Taker18 - The original best working MM ROM in my opinion, from before FP/LAF was working. This thing was solid and made me begin enjoy my OnePlus 2!
BeanStalk by Taker18 - Ran for for about a month, was great but got bored and wanted to switch it up.
CM13 by Seraph08 - This is what I'm currently running.
I'm kind of bored with the Seraph CM13 ROM and it's time to do full wipe as my battery life isnt as great as it should be.. But I can't decide what to try. I was about to flash TEMASEK'S CM13 yesterday but then hesitated when I saw that they were retiring Temasek after CM13...
How are the OOS based ROM's? I was never a fan of OOS as CM13 is where I'm comfortable but I'm looking to spice it up for a bit.. I'd almost be willing to even give MIUI a go but don't really want to fall back to a 5.1.1 based rom with no FP/LAF...
What are people using these days? and what are the opinions on the current state of OP2 development? I get a sense that it has somewhat stalled most likely related to the delays in the OOS 3.0 OTA..
Use Exodus.
In my opinion the best rom so far.
I would say that your list there was pretty close once upon a time, but I really don't think it is accurate anymore. In my opinion, I would say that the most popular ROM for the OPT would be Seraph08's CM13. Everyone likes stock CM. Then I would say Resurrection Remix, and then Beanstalk and Exodus for a tie at third. I would suggest you try Exodus if you don't want many bloat features. I got over having tons of features. I used to only use Resurrection Remix, but then I decided to try some other ROMs. So far, my favorites have been Exodus (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/orig-development/rom-exodus-android-6-oneplus2-t3333929), Purity (https://plus.google.com/communities...5/stream/8da711ee-6e10-450e-94db-b0ad895d3234), and Validus (https://plus.google.com/communities...8/stream/d0341921-196f-4f6c-8c61-10e6a0c36eb6). The best ROM to keep an eye on in my opinion would be halogenOS (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/orig-development/rom-halogenos-oneplus-2-t3377799). Happy flashing!

Nobody in his right mind will be flashing a CM13.1 ROM when stable Nougat ROMs with Official support from our beloved dev, dev_harsh1998, are available.
Coming to your question, yeah you can flash the latest arm gapps 6.0 apps. I didn't get the next part of updating to b.3.3.

I would take a look at the ROM. Thanks.
Regarding the gapps question, the developer has asked to flash gapps micro, but I want to flash gapps stock, which I want to know if there will be any problems.
By the b3.3 part, I mean that the post says that the ROM is in build 3.3 update 4, but the download file has a UNOFFICIAL in the filename
Edit: I forgot to mention that I want to stick with marshmallow because of xposed framework support.
Just wondering if this was the ROM
Mokeee 7.1.1 Ota update one.
The status says nightly so does that mean ROM has bugs? Cam I use it as daily driver?

Mokee 7.1.1 is Nougat based and since you want to stick with Marshmallow for Xposed, then RR by mshoiab or MIUI8 from miui.su (5.1.1) can be your friend.
Nightly, means the small updates are pushed every day (but now IDK why they are being pushed in a week for some devices), so the nightlies are pretty stable for daily use but some experimental feature might cause some FC or some other issue. The stable builds include these new features once they are completely stable. Anyways, there is nothing in the nightly tag that you need to stay away from it.
Secondly, CM13 by ED300 has not been updated for a long time now, afaik. And it has UNOFFICIAL tag because its just that ED300 had ported CM13 from some other device to our Lenovo A6000.
For a ROM to have OFFICIAL tag, the developer needs to build the ROM from source and provide regular updates in a week or even in less days sometimes and has to stick to the particular guidelines as per the developer team. Like in LineageOS, the dev can't include a hack or work-around to some bug in the ROM. In Redmi Note 3, while there's a mod present to fix the flashlight tile issue, but the dev himself couldn't include it in the ROM as per LineagOS guidelines. Every developer community, for e.g., LineageOS (fromer CM team), RR, DU, OmniRom, Slim, AICP, MOKEE, AOSCP, AOSP Extended, Heaxgon OS, Nitrogen OS,......., has there fixed guidelines. Or you can just download a custom ROM, modify it and upload it for everyone, just once; This is called UNOFFICIAL rom.

N9005 roms and official 7.1 builds ?

After a recent disaster with my S5 I replaced it with a Note 3 n9005.
Am very happy with the phone but it has so much potential to be better. Are there any 7.1 roms that are actively being updated and is there any chance of official builds any time soon.
I would love to put 7.1 on this phone but don't want to get stuck with bugs I have to put up with for extended periods.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
Official 7 for Note 3 . No never according to Samsung .

There are always bound to be bugs when dealing with unofficial software like ports or ROMs, they're not perfect. As for an official Nougat release for a 4 year old phone that doesn't even have an official Marshmallow release? I highly doubt it. I would suggest just sticking with stock.
Thanks for the reply guys.
I know Samsung will never upgrade this phone to nougat or above but the custom rom community have done some amazing things bringing the latest versions of android to older phones when their manufacturers stop supporting them to make you buy their latest an greatest phone.
When I asked about official builds I was referring to Resurrection Remix or Lineage LOS 7.1 builds which get weekly updates. There will always be bugs I know but weekly builds help to fix them.

If I may suggest, I would try out a Note 7 port. I know it's not Nougat but in my opinion, Marshmallow with the Note 7 features is just as good and a lot of people have tested them out and are really stable. But as for more Nougat ROMs, RR and Lineage I think are the only options but I haven't tried them myself.
There is an official Note 5 Nougat rom out, so it should be possible to port that. We just have to wait for someone with the knowledge and interest to do it.
I'm running the Note 7 Phronesis Marshmellow rom, and I highly recommend it if you don't want to wait for a Nougat rom.

Thank you am currently trying the Phronesis Rom N7 v5.2 and am liking it very much very smooth and seems very stable.
And if i'm reading the forum correctly there should be a V6 version becoming available in the next couple of days.
thanks for the recommendation this rom will do very nicely until or if someone ports the N5 nougat rom which we can only hope for.

Quick Question

Hello ppl.
Until now we have some amazing custom roms.
My question is:
What do you prefer?
Until now we have aokp, slim7, viperos, lineageos and xenonhd.
For sure we can use one device tree for all custom roms. We only need to add an slim.mk, viper.mk, xenonhd.mk and such stuff to the device tree's to get a working rom at all.
I found xenonhd yesterday and i thought that viperos is my final rom. But that was finally wrong.
With xenonhd i have full root, full working equalizer for music and such stuff.
So this one is my favourite for now.

Lineage os is my favorite, with a close second of viper os, but I'm not familiar with xenonhd. What is that? Is it nougat?
(Sorry for quoting you Kraze I didn't mean to)
where is the xenonhd ROM link? until now I prefer Lineage.

Lineage is usually a base for other ROMs , so it would be nice if it got more focus to optimise it
, also many of the phone's major issues (Camera / Performance ) Can use improvements
After trying all ROMs other than xenonhd you mention. I have settled on Slim 7. It works good enough and I do not need the extra features with other ROMs. Plus you also get more storage space which I keep running out of.
Slim7 is my favorite
i would prefer pure AOSP

you should update properly your github and sources, even vendors.
so we can use one for all people./rom and we will make better device tree.
My favourite rom is LineageOS. But I prefer Slim7 or ViperOS too. Other roms have bad performance and toooo many useless customization. I think you should update 5.1/6.0 custom roms. CM for example. Now I still on Lineage because this rom is more stable and smooth.
an update to cm12.1 would also be great as it has some issues also like:
- no option to prevent the phone from waking up in your pocket when using double tap to wake
- cannot connect to camera problem happening sometimes
- unable to change lock screen wallpaper
Those are some quality of life updates fixes to the CM12.1 rom that would make it even better while we wait for the nougat roms to be completely fixed.
But the development of the Oreo version at what point is it? Is anyone occupying it?
lineageos
lineageos 13, stable cm12.1 or cm13 or Miui prefer, can you port?

Right now i am using SlimRom 7.1.2, based on Lineage 14.1. You can use them for regular basis, but you can also read what bugs they have etc.
I'm currently using Resurrection Remix v5.8.4 and I am really satisfied with the overall performance and everything
I recommend Resurrection Remix. Why? It's based on many other OSes. Based on: Android, LineageOS, MIUI, SlimROM and 1 more system, forgot the name. It's highly customizable, very fast and it has good battery expenditure. The newest, stable version is based on Android 7.1.2. And an important information. If you are downloading custom ROM, the best GApps version is Nano (only the most important apps from Google, the rest you can download from Google Play).
If you want an instruction how to flash a custom ROM, just easily ask me for it.
