Here is pictures showing proof of root and recovery

Found root w/o pc
Took the the plunge and tried framaroot, towelroot, then tried Kingroot version 3.5.0.
Its in Chinese so what I did was just hit the green button till it showed a check mark then a blue bar popped up then I hit that then restarted my watch.
Then I saw an app called kinguser so I installed root explorer.
In addition to deleting apps from the system/app using root explorer you have to start in
R/O then delete any app you want , It will ask you if you want to change to r/w and delete say "yes"obviously :good:

Battery removal
The battery is removal, which is good, it would be good if spare batteries were available, I'll let you know if I come across any.
Here's a good video (long vid) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQR6lQR1EbM
WHERE TO BUY? guys (& girls) if you find a good seller, please share the details, as more people buy this watch, we get more support and hacks
I don't about the cheapest** site to buy, but DX.com seems like a safe place to buy and not too expensive, they accepts returns if a fault occurs.
** On AliExpress most sellers are selling clones as iMacwear M7, they are not iMacwear, be aware! However one can argue they are all clones, if you look in DX and GearBest they have similar ones, some are described as 1.3 Ghz, but these sites are not to be trusted.

Recovery?
Has anyone tried to put truesmart twrp 2.8.6.0 on their imacwear m7 using twrp manager?

iMacwear clone comparison
I know this thread is for the iMacwear, but just wanted to make sure people make an informed decision before buying. I found some interesting comparison with other clones on this thread from Jan 2015.
Also there are other clones which people have purchased:
Z01 which is 1.3 GHz, faster clock speed, and Android 4.2. $122 at the moment from DealsMachine. Z01 thread
AOKE Z15 - Android 4.0, but cheaper, but $112 from DX
There are loads more but these two have a thread or mention in XDA. The questions is why would you say that iMacwear M7 is better?. Here are the specs.

Updated
Update with how to for recovery and added pictures:good:

Hi, i'm thinking to buy this smartwatch but stilo struggling to understand in xda threads if it was updated to android 4.4 by the vendor or if One of the 4.4 omate TS firmwares available are supporter on it.
Moreover i'm intersted in smartphone companion app such ad SWAPp link ti get phone notifications on smartwatch, is it or any similar good app working on imacwear m7 on either the 4.2 or 4.4 versione?
And, furthermore, various specs are cinflicting in regards to sensors, FM radio and camera resolution: has it got proximity, compass, accelerometer, gravity and lightvsensors? FM radio yes or not? Is camera 5 or 3 MP interpolated? Is it possibile to unlock the screen with wirst movement if it has accelerometer/gravity sensor?
Thanks for any info or confirmation.

It should have the same specs as the Omate, they are all clones.

I don't seem the Omate clones are identical to the original nor between them and not only for the form factor.

When buying ANY new watch battery, be very very careful of the the thickness of the battery.
1. Some sellers sell any generic battery to make money
2. If it's too thick even by few mm then it will damage the screen and watch.
Best to measure your current battery thickness very precisely (using a digital caliper if you have one) and after you have asked them to double check the thickness, measure it again when you have it before installing it.

Ok, very useful advise. I'll do so before installing any replacement battery in the watch.
My only issue at that time will be to find a caliper
Many thanks again simple1i.

Your welcome.
Once you have the new battery you should be able to compare the approx thickness using your fingers or by using a spirit-level, making sure the surface is level first.

I bought mine about a week ago and it came with 4.4 which is awesome, I like this watch so far. The only issue I guess I have is that I can't seem to get it rooted. I've tried kingroot and towelroot. Every time I trying it ends up restarting my watch. Are there any other root methods?

Did the specs on the site where you bought it from say 4.2? Nice to know that, cause I also could expect mine to arrive with 4.4 despite all the descriptions on shops say 4.2.

Got mine in the mail today. Seems like the real deal for a $100 tablet. The pinch-to-zoom feature is a bit of a disappointment, not near as smooth as on a phone. Seems speedy enough to handle what I threw at it though. Definitely not a Tab or Xoom, but more than adequate for a small internet appliance.
Came with Market from Google preinstalled, but a lot of the apps don't show up because of the region coding. Was able to side-load Netflix, Swype, and a few other apps but it'd be nice to be able to use an app like Market Enabler to fake a U.S. carrier but you need root access. Tried Z4Root and it didn't work.
Anybody know of a way to get root access on this thing, at least temporary? Or a way to spoof the carrier so I can download my purchased apps a lot easier?

Yes it is, I was just wondering if anyone else was one of the original contributors. The first 200 were able to get it for a contribution of $99 and the next 2,000 were able to pick one up for a contribution of$149. I should be getting mine delivered in August as I got a chance to be one of the 2,000 contributors.

Just a quick note to all, the Vea team slightly changed their design by using an LG screen which has several people pissed, although I personally still like it.
With that said, if any of you are interested, be on the lookout for some folks selling theirs since they do not want to keep the watch once it has been shipped.

Nice, didn't know they hit ebay already. Got mine in April and I can't complain too much about it, only problem I'm having is that my google account has authentication enabled so the gmail notifications don't work unless I remove the authentication, but otherwise it's pretty nice.
I've been in touch with the founder/owner and asked her if she feels the hardware is capable of carrying the Android 4.4w

Prototype Build TP with HDMI

So I just snagged a prototype/developer model Play that does have HDMI out on it and I'm wondering in advance what the best choice of bootloader and/or firmware to use for maximum performance and battery life without interfering with the HDMI out functionality.
I did my best to sort through the ten million "I wish my Play had HDMI out" threads and what I could glean from MAYBE legit prototype discussion threads sound like it probably has parts of its modem removed to make room for the HDMI (which is fine since I want it as a portable/dockable game device) and that battery life might have a problem, which I would guess is from constant signal search that can probably be disabled.
But does anyone here actually have one of these? I'd love to benefit from someone else's experience with them instead of having to make all the mistakes myself and figuring everything out the hard way!
Thanks!
Mind posting some photos?

I actually -just- won an auction for one of these off of Ebay... So I like the OP want to know, what's the real story with these units? I know they were display units for the stores to show off but besides that I mean. Do they have functional cellular radios? Are they unlocked? If I do a system restore through the normal menus will it screw itself over and never be able to use the HDMI properly? Does plugging in the HDMI turn off the XP's screen or does it splits its horsepower between the two screens?
Couldn't pass up on buying one, seems like a piece of history. I will post pics when it arrives (like a week) if that interests anyone.
Seller posted: " This is a fully functional Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G R800AT - Prototype Build TP HDMI. This phone cannot be activated or used on ANY service. This is a prototype phone. Phone's hardware/software is fully functional."

LoL yeah me too! I'm not at all surprised the guy who bought the other one also came here straight away with exactly the same questions as I have. There's still one left, if anybody wants it. We haven't received them yet but you can see the pictures the seller posted on eBay if you just search for "xperia play hdmi". I agree it would be nice to see the actual mainboard and once I give mine a complete function check I'll probably open it up and take some pictures.
I think that you have something different in your roms/kernels what let your Plays to use hdmi. So there is probably now roms or kernels u can use without loosing hdmi. Only root and mods

I actually sold my Xperia PLAY about a month ago, sad to see it go but I moved on to a Nexus 5 in December and it took me all that time to let it go. Mine was not an HDMI model though, it was an early AT&T model without the branding.
For those curious I added the photos from my old prototype Xperia PLAY.

Would love to see some pics as well.
There are some ROMs out there that are meant for those without radios/cell planes, such as Xperia NXT Gaming, but your HDMI might not work properly.
There were stories a few years ago about someone who said they had a prototype unit, but not many actual cases. One guy even tried modding an HDMI in there.

Yep that's one of ours. I'm surprised we got them for the price we got them for, and that the seller described them to be "for parts" which would have been a shame. Unless I get some nasty surprises when it arrives I wouldn't sell it for twice the price I paid.

The phone showed up in immaculate condition, as if it had never been used. The HDMI port is very rough as you can see, with exposed circuit board. At this point I haven't been able to get the HDMI to work - I can't find any options for it in the settings and trying two different HDMI cables on two different displays hasn't worked yet. It seems the seller was correct when he said the phone couldn't connect to its network, as putting my valid ATT Sim card didn't get me signs of life. WiFi works fine. If anyone has any questions or any ideas on how to make the HDMI work, I'm all ears.

this is a real phone but is limited and just was for special offers to Sony-erricson like exhibitions .
I remember those posts everyone knew the phone was real lol they just didn't believe you had it because there were never any pics or vids that I remember anyway. But since you had the phone why aren't you telling him how to get hdmi working instead of sharing drama about how onetime childish people didn't believe you?

Well I finally received my phone, postage due I might add. It is indeed in practically new condition and mine came with retail packaging including headphones and a little dock but no charger for whatever reason. The HDMI output seems to be a Mac style mini display port aka "Thunderbolt". I'm a real Apple hater so I had to order an adapter. When it arrives, I'll post my results. In the mean time I am willing to pull the back off and take some pictures of the board if people are interested in that sort of thing.
It reports
Baseband version 7X30A-AAABQMAZM-1290_21-42
Kernel version 2.6.32.9-perf
Build number 3.0.1.B.0.270
None of which seems out of the ordinary for an early build I guess... Anyway, I definitely won't update anything - other than rooting - until I get my display port adapter. Hopefully it will simply send an identical 854x480p signal out the port as it sends to the screen and it'll be as simple as that - one can only hope.

If your phone really has a Mediatek processor then it is a fake. But as already mentioned, not all programs correctly identify the chip. You should confirm the finding with another program and preferably provide us with a lot more details about your phone so that we have more confidence in the verdict.
Photos of the phone and any literature? In particular the top exterior, the label under the battery (you may wish to obscure part of the IMEI number) and a screen shot of at least the Settings menu > General > About Device. Particularly helpful would be installing the Phone Info app and tell us the results.

I'm also wondering the same thing. Running CPU-Z returns MediaTek MT6592, 8x ARM Cortex-A7 @ 1.66 GHz.
I've looked at some other videos and discussions online on how to tell a fake one apart, but for the most part it looks real, has waterproofing seals, a 16MP camera, heart rate monitor (though i have my doubts as to its results), etc. The Android version is 4.4.2. The fingerprint scanner doesn't seem legit, though, as i don't really need to slide my finger over the home button and any finger will unlock it. All in all i'm not really bummed as it was a third of the price of the other S5's listed online and still is much better than my previous phone. Really i just wish i could find a way to root it... I actually never really considered that it might be fake, though i was a little curious after reading about some of the things here:
ibtimes.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-s5-10-amazing-hidden-features-you-never-knew-about-1445367
...notably the touch sensitivity, which i don't have as a setting.
The battery life is also really weird, when opening certain apps (QQ, Anki) the battery life rapidly falls (completely gone within a couple hours) and i've got to restart the phone for it to stabilize again. I can watch movies or listen to music for what seems like days, though.
Try connecting via usb the phone to the PC and opening Kies 3
Hey, thanks for the reply. I just managed to root it using the tutorial here (though CWM is upside down??):
youtube.com/watch?v=s66e-kwvKUU
Also, KIES 3 doesn't detect it, should i take that as a good sign it's a fake?
I think it's fake
Does the fingerprint sensor work? If not then it's absolutely fake.
Next is how much was the selling price? Too cheap means probably fake.
Now about the processor, the second you see anything other than qcomm or exynos, it's already fake.

I think part of the reason there's no one here is because you can't find this tablet anywhere but a few brick-and-mortar Best Buy stores right now. I can't find a single online retailer that lists it in their stock yet. Once it's widely available, this forum should fill up. For now, it's just you and me, I guess lol.

True that. Im looking foreard to rooting, and opening up dual window to all apps. How does yours run?
Just picked mine up from BestBuy. Rooted with Towelroot and Xposed. I have found that the G3 tweaks xposed module works, haven't tested all of it but ehat i have so far works.

Wow. Can you post a guide?
Sure thing.
Here is towel root https://towelroot.com
Download the app a day run it, will give you root. After that download supersu from the market and run it.
Download xposed from here http://repo.xposed.info
I think latest stable is 2.6.1.
After that you can download the g3 tweak from the market. The g3 and 10.1 are very similar rom wise, I've been able go use some of the theme tweaks (every one tried has worked, but can't guarantee all of it works since it's for the g3)

I grabbed a 7" and hoping this picks up. Also a separate forum if necessary
I can confirm that this works. I even picked up an app from the play store that allows you to add any app to the duel windows. Ive wanted that function ever since i got this device! I havnt played with the framwork too much but seems to work.
I guess the only thing missing is a custom recovery. Any insight on that anybody?
BTW, towel root was the easiest root ever. One click app. No hooking up to a computer.

I wonder if LG threw in an encrypted boot loader on the tabs. Also I couldn't find any information on this but does the G Pad 10.1 support USB OTG? I plan on picking one up within the week and hopefully get a custom recovery going soon after.

Flex multi window mod
I got one and i rooted it with towelroot with no problem. Even installed flex multi window app and works fine. The only problem is that it doesn't support NTFS usb sticks. I don't have any FAT32 right now to try but i'll search if it's possible to add NTFS support.
coming soon my 7.0 !!
Can someone please see if you can enable Chromecast's screen mirroring after rooting the 10.1 by using the Mirror Enabler app?
I greatly appreciate it.
I just got the gpad 7.0 from att with the G3 bundle for 99cents. Im trying to decide if I want to keep it or return. The screen quality isn't all that great. I also couldn't root it with towelroot as it says its not supported. I wish there were more activity in the forums for the g pads too.
Update: I was able to successfully root the G Pad 7.0 At&t version using purpledrake. LG-V410
I got my mom a like new g pad 7.0 off ebay for nice price but didn't realize it's the At&T version. We are just going to use it with Wi-Fi. That shouldn't be a problem right?
also, is there a way to stop the pad from asking for sim card besides turning on airplane mode? thank you
