Getting a stock ROM now!!
Woke up at 5:30 AM Central time to a nice little OTA waiting for me.
When they say the OTA will start in the morning they aren't kidding.
DLing now but sadly I gotta get to work so it'll be a bit before I can toy around with it.
If you haven't gotten the update pushed to you yet you might be able to manually check via settings.

I didn't get a notification, but once I went to Settings/System updates/HTC software update it checked then it popped up.

Yes unfortunately when I start IC it will support S-Off users simply because it's easier to mod/flash firmware/etcc... S-on users will be on their own.

I'm no developer....but if you limit your userbase to a group of people who spent $25 to S-OFF there phone (which was basically only needed for extreme things) then not many people will use it.
Especially because NO other ROM needs S-OFF...

No you definitely misunderstood me. What I mean is IC will work for both s-on and s-off but if users aren't on latest firmware there is a chance of having bugs. Like Wi-Fi not working... So I recommend users to be s-off so they can obtain superCID and flash lollipop firmware.. as I will be releasing quite a few other things that require s-off.
And I will not baby s-on users that have bugs ....
I'm currently S-On because there was no "must have" benefits to S-Off. Yes , there are some benefits but none that I absolutely couldn't do without.
That being said, If IC or another ROM use S-Off to gain some time of feature, function, or improvement I'll shell out the 25 bucks with the quickness.

Without opening the box how can i tell if this Rogers HTC Magic can be rooted or not?
The reason i ask is because some of the newest ones already have the new updated firmware applied to them (or so my friend has told me).
Does anyone think this is the case or not?

im pretty sure you can't tell by the box (almost positive).... best thing to do is ask how long the store has had it in stock..
if they had it from early january or from 2009 then it will not have the newest update and can be rooted... if its after mid january then it a good bet it will have the non rootable update..

What makes you think there _will_ be an update to 2.1?
And if there is one, what makes you think it might be rootable?
rogers have said there will be a 2.1 update. and i dont know if it can be rooted, no one does..we have to wait and see
Did Rogers explicitly promise to update the magic? I couldn't find any source for that. As for HTC, they only mention they will have an update for the Hero - nothing about the Magic.

just google rogers magic 2.1 .. yes its comming.. that is the reason why they offered the free upgrade to magic from dream as the dream was not getting the update..

OTOH my carrier has made it known that it will not be offering any update beyond 1.5 for the magic.
But back on topic, if HTC has been able to cook an unrootable update at least once, they will keep it this way with further updates too. No confirmed date is given yet but it will b getting lollipop before end of this year... (In the month of december i mean).. Currently the dates for the nexus and few of the high end sony, htc, samsung etc. Are out... Don't worry its android one... We will get update soon....

Before 2015 android one devices will get android L update
Android One devices would get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update before the end of this year. The update would be rolled out as soon as Nexus is launched i.e 3 Nov, 2014.

The thing is I rooted my spice dream uno MI-498 then heard about ota update the I flashed back to stockl ROM stock recovery then unrooted my phone. So when I receive update will I get updated or its gonna **** me up!!!

You must lock your bootloader otherwise OTA update will fail to install.
A new patching process is added on Lollipop update.

I'm not sure I have unrooted my phone correctly. I just flashed the stock recovery img and unrooted my phone from super su app that's it, but the phone works fine no problems but in the recovery there is a red triangle with this "!" Symbol is that normal or I have to lock the bootloader properly....

I called the customer care today.. They said that updates will be released by the end of February. I don't believe them unless I get the update.. Meanwhile I found this zip. This is the zip of android one lollipop 5.1 extracted from Indonesian android one phone. Finally we got the zip which is flashable on our phones. You can find it HERE

Yep. I believe this is the OTA URL for the dev edition (from 1.32.617.30 to 2.8.617.4) if anyone wants it.
It looks like the firmware isn't up on HTC's download page yet, but I think the Sprint one is.

Initial thoughts after just a few minutes of playing with the camera and a few other things, camera launches much faster and pictures look more detailed and consistent. Phone feels smoother and more responsive when double tapping to wake it. If people continue complaining about the M9 after this update then there is no pleasing them. This is why I keep coming back to HTC. I will not fall for the gimmicks that other brands are selling. I will report back if I find anything else of significance.

I don't have the developer edition of the M9, but I do have the Unlocked edition from HTC and I can confirm I just got the same update about 30 minutes ago.
Mine will not finish update . It keeps aborting. Can someone please be kind enough to make an ruu zip ? The exe way don't work on my PC. I have to do the sd card/0PJAIMG.zip way. Thanks

The answer is here. Flash the RUU from the OP, then the one from this post. Be sure to use ADB to flash the OP RUU. The Dev Edition one can be run on a windows machine as an .exc.
After upgrading I cannot send MMS anymore. Did not have that problem when I was on Maximus 5.01. Anyone having mms sending issues?

Any patch notes? I just got my phone back from jcase, installed LeeDroid and started setting it up, but maybe i'll hold off..... Although i guess once someone rips the firmwares out of the RUU i could just flash that.

Per HTC, don't pay too much attention to version numbers. Verizon's and Sprint's original ROMs have vastly different numbers but are essentially the same in many respects. Original out-of-the box ROM for Verizon was 1.9; MR will be 1.19.605.22. Test ROMs were numbered 1.12, 1.15 and 1.17 (with interval updates), so don't put too much in stock by the number itself.
UPDATE (4:30 p.m.) - Now downloading it in SE PA.

There is NO update since 1.19.605.22. Taking the OTA does not break root if you are rooted.
1.80 was released to Sprint and I expect it will be released to Verizon as well within the next few weeks (not based upon any inside information, pure conjecture). I don't believe any OTA will "break root" if it's flashed over TWRP. Otherwise, roll back via one of @dottat's RUU's, take the OTA, reflash TWRP and re-root.
Finally, the OTA will *not* turn an S-OFF device S-ON.
