[The off topic thread] for Z3 users - Xperia Z3 General

Here you can talk about just anything you want, the only thing you need to keep in mind is to follow the xda rules.
(Since we got such a thread in my recent xda phone forum, I thought about making it here too)

I'm starting this off with my current configuration.
I'm using cm12 official
M5 kernel v4
Intellimm governor
Fiops scheduler
GPU max Freq 27mhz (doesn't even cause much of a lag lol)
I use my phone mostly for messaging, I didn't play any game on it so far (maybe it's time?! Lol)
BTW my previous device was Samsung galaxy s4 mini
What's your current configuration guys?

Can't seem to install cm12 on my Z3..
Would you consider posting a step by step guide?
It's unlocked running rooted stock and dual-recovery..

Yes, please remember the xda rules found in the link at the bottom of every page on xda, especially rule 15. There is an off-topic chat in the android general section. Please use that.

[POLL] NAND-users: What governor do you use on your HD2?

So, the title says it all.
I'm curious about what governor do all you guys use??
Place your vote here.
Also, feel free to comment why you choose your governor!

Lagfree, on Marc's Kernel. Awesome, but not in your poll.....
I think this should be moved to q&a.
My favorite: smartassv2
Why? It includes a stanby management, is stable and fast.

You shoulda posted in Q&A
But i use smartassv2 with my OWN custom settings and i use it because it gets great performance with amazing battery life
I am still working between different settings on TBD. Lagfree with Marc's kernel is good but I am now working with smartassv2 with custom settings. So far so good
Lagfree 128 - 1190
btw, this should be in the Q&A
It sucks that majority of governors have no description, so only way to decide between them is through trial and error (which is very tedious given the number of governors and differences may only be placebo) or by reading other's recommendations.
I was using convervative with a heavily customized settings, then smartass/V2/smoothass (switching between them, AFAIK they are very similar anyway), but now I'm testing Hyper as it's default on new DORIMANX.
moved to Q&A
Not sure if this is a thread to post this sort of problems...
Anyway, at the moment I got a HD2 running flawlessly HyperDroid-CM7-v5.9.0 with smartassV2 governor and I'm very happy with it.
The problem is that as soon as I switch to for example interactiveX governor I start getting freezes where the phone is left screen on and nothing else working.
I've been previously dual booting wp7 and android sd. Back then I had same sorts of freezes on android but would just tweak my auto memory killer to less aggressive settings to not get freezes. I'm a bit confused on this but after all quite sure that this is about something else than memory related problem.
Any ideas?
I have also tried few of these governors, but I think that there is no big difference between the better ones like hyper, ondemand etc. just a placebo when somebody release "new" governor

[Q] How to change nexus 7 cpu hot-plug settings ?

Hello,
I've noticed that mkernel ([email protected] 7) takes a little bit longer to switch more cores online (some times the CPU can stay at 100 for 1_2 sec) and that kind of problem never happened on stock kernel so is there any way to change hot-plug settings to switch on more cores faster ?( at lower load ) please note that I'm already on interactive covernor
Thanks in advance.

That is not really a legitimate reason. There is a reason for the post requirement.
The hot plug configuration is set to what the kernel dev believe is optiomal (battery/performance) if by looking in the thread you notice you are the only one withnp that opinion, it would be wise to assume it will not change for 1 user and perhaps you would be better finding a kernel that suits you instead of requesting a change for you.

I'm not requesting a change don't get me wrong I just want to know how to change that (like changing some values in text file located somewhere in the kernel ). Plus the kernel is very very good and I don't want to change it.

Oh hey I think I might be helpful here.
Honestly I don't know what to tell you. The hotplug up2gn delay (the time tegra autohotplug will wait to see if load goes down before switching on another G core) has been increased by .01 seconds from stock in alpha 30. From 140ms (stock) to 150ms (a30).
How are you watching your CPU to make your "stuck at 100%" for one to two second assessment?
Are you sure you're using the latest alpha?
Strange as no one else seems to have this issue.
(Side note - why do people post questions... literally with [Q] in the title... in general instead of q/a?)

First thanks for your kernel and your support
I use resource monitor mini and I didn't noticed this issue on stock kernel as the CPU usage always below 75%.
Yes a30
Maybe they just don't monitor their CPUs usage .
I think because q question (when I don't know the answer)
And q/a (when I ask a question and I know the answer)
Just my opinion.

[Discussion]DooM Kernel for Z1

Hello Everyone. Our great developer @DooMLoRD buddy has done it again. And this time its for the Z1.So on his behalf I am opening this general discussion thread to keep the development thread clutter free. Ask your queries here and they will be answered.
Known issue with overclocking
It has been observed that the overclocking sometimes reverts back automatically to stock settings especially after heavy CPU load and if the device heats up.
I think have found why this happens:
Android OS level
there is a binary called: /system/bin/thermald which writes lower CPU freq values to the CPU sysfs interface if the device starts heating
there is also an app "Overheat Control" which i suspect is doing something similar
Kernel level
there seems to be some sort of fail-safe in place "msm_dcvs" which resets the CPU to 918Mhz or 1026Mhz or 1512Mhz
could also be some other things i am still searching
now there are ways to circumvent these issues but given the risk of the damage associated with overclock for long time i think its in our best interest to not screw with these fail-safes...
most of these will be will be taken care off in future kernel releases
To Do List:
Merge all features from my Xperia Z kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172888
detailed list:
main kernel
add VDD interface (DONE)
remove CPU auto throttling restrictions
disable CIFS
add GPU O/C (DONE)
add GPU governor
add CPU governors
AVS
I/O schedulers (DONE)
unlock 192MHz frequency
screen gamma control
increase USB OTG voltage (?)
slide2wake
exFAT support
ZRAM
cleancache, frontswap
XZ other compression support (DONE)
mpdecision (?)
ramdisk
add dual recovery CWM + TWRP (DONE)
add init.d support (DONE)
import customizable init.something.rc from /system/etc
so at the moment from your post above are you saying the Z1 does not support exfat out of the box

Yup
"Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Nothing more than that. Don't ask in signature or post for it and defeat the purpose why it was introduced"
Thanks for that, that explains partly why my Z1 trashed my 64gb SD card that I had working in my XZU the latter fully supports exfat
I guess it is wrong to assume anything when it comes to Sony devices, I had at least expected if the XZU supported exfat that the Z1 would also

[SHARE] Good Kernel Tweaks for S4 Mini

Hey guys,
For me, I UC the GPU to the lowest freq possible (192mhz) and CPU to max 1Ghz (and min 192mhz). My CPU governor is on Smartmax and I/O is in FIOPS. I also enabled Multicore saving to increase battery life. And well, what can I say 4hrs of continuous use and im on 54℅. 4hrs includes playing a DS emulator for 15 mins, asphalt 8 for 30 mins and another 30mins for YouTube watching
**Some things to note is that I always switch my phone to airplane mode (since i got not SIM for now). I also turned off Wifi and Sync (in power control widget) before I set off to play any game. I also have a habit of learing the recents list too. Furthermore, Asphalt 8 is in Very Low graphics (since idl fancy graphics) and it runs little to no lag
So don't be stingy Do share with the community regarding tweaks you guys made to your devices kernel and share you experience

Sony Xperia™ Z2 AnTuTu Record!

Okay guys, so here's the deal. I got over 50k points on AnTuTu v5.7 with my Xperia™ Z2. How cool is that?!
I'm using rooted .726 HK ROM with AndroPlus v52 kernel + UKM and Synapse. Also, Xposed is installed.
Screenshots are attached.
The language is in Turkish btw, but you'll figure it out.
50007 points!
Hell yeah.
Threads like this already excist, search before post and benchmarks are just numbers, you must feel it by your own.

Yeah I know, but this is no ordinary number, brother. They're of course just some numbers but I've never seen a number starting with 5 on this errand. This is beyond the 50k limit. So it has to have its own thread, am I wrong? :fingers-crossed:
what cpu settings?
please upload a picture of the SYNAPSE settings. at a frequency of 2.7 or 2.8 antutu doesn't work for me!(reboot)
antutu-2.5ghz -47205
For me cpu 2,3 ghz (stock) and adreno v52 kernel 47,1k point
i have random reboot in antutu with more than 2,3ghz,2,4 too make random rebooö for me

I was going to say the same !
But also that it might be a little dangerous to play with very high voltage at very high frequencies !

Absolutely. But it's good that Synapse capped the max voltage at 1400mV. I don't think 1400mV would seriously damage the SoC.
I didn't go up that much, though.
