The stock is not better because the custom roms are based on the stock.....that is if they are tw based.

Have you tried the GPE roms? It has been the most stable and hassle free rom I used so far.
Or try CM12.1. I use it currently in combination with Ktoonsez 5.1 kernel and it works with no problems. Also it is a lot smoother than 5.0.1

i have the i9500 variant, so GBE roms wont work, and CM12 or CM12.1 are good, but battery life is horrible, and the camera is s***....i tried cm12 couple weeks ago, its smooth enough but the camera i not good, AOSP roms have bad cameras....

Custom 4.3 Touchwiz rom's and old bootloader

As title, looking for the 4.3 touchwiz based rom's that work with the old bootloader.
Almost all custom roms you can flash from recovery won't update your bootloader. I recommend omega.
Read OP of any rom and you will sure notice that the bootloader will remain untouched after flashing.

There will be no issues like lack of sound, wifi etc?
Been using GE roms since the new bootloader was introduced but I have read posts from users having problems flashing new firmware with old bootloader, or is that just for the official roms?
As long as you have the latest modem (MJ5) there won't be any issues.

I'm already using that modem so might just give it a try.
Thanks for the help.
Be sure to have the latest philz touch and you're good to go!
Flashed Omega V19, all working.
Definitely not as smooth as the GE roms but it 's not bad, also it's nice to have the Samsung Camera back again.
Also give echoe rom ago, I'm on old bootloader and mk9 modem, working much better than 4.2.2 stock

Thanks, might give that a try as Omega just started rebooting randomly..
Will try another kernel, if that doesn't fix it then ill try echoe.
All custom roms since 4.3 gave me random reboots once every couple of days.
I'm currently running omega v19 and the uptime is 48h.
Well I got Omega stable with KT kernel, but found the lag a bit annoying so tried echoe rom anyway.
Sadly the lag is much the same, I guess it's a feature of touchwiz and nothing can be done about it.
Why havent Samsung fixed this? it's almost the same as the original roms that phone shipped with.

OK... so all the kerneis are for custom roms... so sad... i like stock rom...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2680948
This is the new stock kernel for 4.4 that let's you flash 4.4 based stock Roms strait from 4.2. You must also flash the baseband when going back and forth. (I think this is what you asked for)
If youre talking about a modified stock kernel for 4.4, then no. No one has anything out yet. And more then likely won't for a bit after all devices have access to 4.4

[Q] Kernel and signal quality

Can a kernel affect signal and data quality and will a custom kernel keep you from getting OTA updates?

it is possible.
what do you need a custom kernel for?
if there is no real reason to switch out the kernel, why would you?
Well, I have a HTC One M8, and flashed a stock GPE rom with stock kernel, after a couple of days I tried flashing a stock GPE rom with some modifications and a custom kernel. Dont know if it was just me or if the consistency of my signal got better with the custom kernel.
Anyhows, I dropped rom's for my device and flashed an RUU instead. Now I get the GPE OTA's and keep everything clean. Thats why, I was thinking about flashing that custom kernel to my stock GPE RUU. As a sidenote, I use the same radio my HTC was delivered with out the box. Ah, another question, do I have to reflash my radio after lolli OTA?
Edit: I dropped rom's.., I didnt dripp them...

N910F Stable stock roms?

Hi, what roms are you using on your 910F and why? How stable is it, how much bloat is there on it etc?
I was thinking of trying Dr.Ketan,.,.but i thought some help/insights would be good, so i ask you!
EDIT: i ment stable TW roms not "stock roms"... Im using 6.0.1 stock atm, but i want something more

What is a good debloated, smooth, fast and stable 6.0.1 TW Rom?

I'm currently on a CID 11 G900V running a stock 6.0.1 PD1 rom, that I flashed from the instructions on this post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/how-to-flash-custom-6-0-1-roms-locked-t3393943
I like the stock rom but its still very bloated. I'm just looking for a debloated rom with reliable and smooth experience, I don't really care about customization, I just need reliability. So is there something like that out there, or is the one I'm on the best so far?

Would an Odexed rom be better since I'm looking for smoothness and reliability? I've heard that deodexed roms sacrifice speed.

I've run a few deodexed Roms and haven't noticed any real difference.
