[Q] Seeking Lollipop update on Note 3 after switching from AT&T to T-mobile - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've been searching for a solution for failed Lollipop update on my AT&T device. I bought my device with AT&T and switched to T-mobile with sim unlock a year later. I'm currently running N900A...NC2 (4.4.2). My device is rooted but i haven't done much after rooting it except removing some bloatware. I'm able to download the OTA update that AT&T is pushing (at least i think its the lollipop update). However, after download the installation fails. I don't know if this is because i'm not with AT&T any longer or is it because my device is rooted. Tried calling T-mobile with no avail. Wondering what my options are at this point.
I read in a thread here that DO NOT FLASH other carrier's stock firmware with ODIN. How true is that? I'm pretty novice at Android devices. So any help/suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Root can stop OTA.

[Q] Verizon S5 looking to upgrade to lollipop

I currently have an unlocked Galaxy S5,g900v (b), looking to update to lollipop. I use a tmobile sim so I will not be getting any OTA's from verizon. How can i update to lollipop without installing custom rom, and maybe with a tmobile instead of verizon pre loaded apps/settings.
Thank you.

Updating an unlocked Samsung galaxy S4 to Lollipop

I have a AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 (Unlocked) and I am currently using it on Cricket wireless. The phone is currently running on Android 4.4.3 and I would like to update the same to Lollipop. Samsung Galaxy S4 got Lollipop rolled out by AT&T recently but I was not able to get the same since I switched carriers.
Now what is the best way to update the phone. If possible I don't want to root the phone. I went to best buy local store but they were not able to do the same as they said the phone is unlocked. Please let me know how I can update my phone to the latest version. It will be really helpful if someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks all in advance for the help.
Will putting a AT&T sim in my phone help with the OTA? In the sense if I get an AT&T sim card from someone or purchase one and put it in to my phone will that help with the OTA? I am not sure if this phone was unlocked by AT&T.
I was able to successfully install the updates on my phone. I was able to downgrade my phone by installing stock 4.4.2 using ODIN and then was able to upgrade my device to 4.4.4 first and then update to 5.0.1 via OTA. It was an easy process and the instructions in the ODIN thread was really helpful.
Similar situation
I too have an unlocked SGH-I337 that is unlocked from AT&T and I'm using it on T-Mobile. How did you perform the Lollipop update without an AT&T SIM? I took mine to the Samsung experience at Best Buy and they weren't able to do it via Kies and they believe it's because it's unlocked. Nothing else has been done to it, just the AT&T unlock so that I could switch carriers.
Thanks in advance,
Charlotte

[Q] Updating from 4.4.4 to 5.1

I have the At&t branded S5 (G900A), but I'm on the T-mobile network.
My father just purchased the T-Mobile branded phone (G900T) and I discovered that his phone updated to lollipop, while mine was unable to do so.
Apparently both AT&T and T-Mobile have both shipped out lollipop for the S5 but for some reason, I can't seem to get the update.
I can't seem to see a manual way to download the update and do it manually either.
Can anybody please help me update to the latest version?
Thanks
get the firmware from sammobile and flash via odin
there is a video tutorial in the sammobile it self
G900T got the 5.1.1 too
but still no luck for the other devices still
but you have 5.0

Downgrade From Nougat to Marshmallow on SM-G930A (AT&T Galaxy S7)

My SM-G930A automatically updated from Marshmallow to Nougat and it continues to automatically install updates without my consent (I loved Marshmallow). I've been looking around on the forums here for days and from what I've seen, you can't downgrade firmware on a phone with a locked bootloader such as the SM-G930A running on AT&T's network. All I am trying to do is run Marshmallow and prevent my phone from ever updating out of it. Can this be done? If it is impossible with a SM-G930A, could it at least be done with a SM-G930U, while still utilizing AT&T as my service provider? Thanks.
To whoever answers this: I owe you my life.
Can anyone answer this? Plz halp.

USA stock firmware carrier switch Boost (Sprint) -> Verizon

Hi All,
I'm new to Samsung devices though a longtime Linux and Android user. My wife recently received a Galaxy 8S SM-G950U from a friend. It's carrier locked to Sprint (by way of Boost), but she uses Verizon. Her friend initiated the UICC unlock and it sounds like that should go through in a day or two. So far so good. To get rid of all the Boost crud, (and maybe get OTA upgrades???) I want to flash the stock Verizon firmware for her device. I downloaded the firmware from sammobile and think I am ready to go with JOdin or heimdall. I have some questions; any assistance much appreciated:
Can I do this? (Replace Boost stock with Verizon stock firmware)
Should I do this? (I'm open to other suggestions and honestly would prefer unbranded if possible)
Does she have any hope of OTA upgrades afterwards?
What is the USERDATA_VZW_*.tar.md5 file and where does it go? (None of the Odin threads/sites seem to mention it)
Thank you much!
