[Q] Extract Galaxy S4 App and Priv-app folders - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone extract Galaxy S4 Android 5.0.1 App and Priv-app folders?

I'm sure someone can extract the folders. But will they? I doubt it, unless there's a good reason for it. So what do you need the folders for?

Or flash a stock rom, root it, access the system folder and copy the app and priv-app folders onto the sdcard.
If it is possible

[Q] Where are .apk files located?

I'm trying to find where all the .apk files are located on the Nexus 4. I'm rooted and I can see the system .apk files under /system/app. Where would the .apk files be located that I have downloaded from the Play Store?
I beleeve in data/app at least for the free ones you downloaded

deodex or odex?

If this is the wrong thread then apologies.
I used joeldroid to deodex my systemui and all was marked as successful howvwer in the /priv-app folder the app folders are all there with the apk's but there is also another folder named 'arm' which contains 2 files, the odex file and a odex.art file?
I'm really confused as to whether this is actually deodexed or not? Ive noticed in other custom TW roms these arm folders are missing
any ideas
It means your apk in priv app folder is not deodexed
Sent from my SM-N910G using xda premium
yep everytime i tried to replace the deodexed files they would replace fine but then when i look on my root explorer all the arm folders etc are back.. Just trying an app called zipme to get my deodexed files onto my phone
thanks for ansering
so i made flashable zips of my deodexed priv-app, framework and app folders and there was not a single arm folder or odex file in sight. I flash the zips fine but when checking the folders under root all the arm folders and odex files are back????

[Q] How to install cereberus.apk as a system file?

Hi
I have a question because I don't know how to install cereberus.apk as a system file.
I have single .apk file but in system\app I have some folders with apk files inside.
Do I need to make folder for my apk file or only copy this and change permissions (644)?
And which is the best place for this apk:
*system\app
or
*data\app?
Thanks a lot
If you are rooted you can use titanium backup to change it from a normal app to a system app.
^This
Alternatively you can drop the apk into system/priv-app, fix its permissions and then reboot.

how to installe note3 cam ?

how to install note3 camera on i9506 ?
it's work on stock frimeware (4.4.2) ?
answer pleas ?
find a touchwiz based note3 custom rom for 4.4.2 and download it. open the zip and navigate to the system apps folder and copy the camera apk and any odex file that comes with it onto your phone.
then go to the same place in your own root folder and check the permission of your current camera (and odex) and make copies of them (you'll need these when this most likely doesn't work).
with some copies stored safely you can delete your current camera in /system/apps/ folder and any odex with it and replace them with the note3 versions and then fix their permissions to match the originals. reboot and test.

[LGH870][Oreo] How to integrate apps update in rom.

After update from nougat to oreo, I've have problem with integration updated apps in to /system.
I do it like this:
1. copy apk file from data/apk to sd card
2. rename copied apk file to name of /system apk
3. extract lib folder from apk
4. copy newer file to proper folder in /system/app or /system/priv-app and replace file in it
5. Copy lib files extracted form apk to right folder /system/lib or /system/lib64
6. Uninstall update from /data/app
7. reboot + dalvik-cache wipe
In nougat it was working, but in oreo, app after integration, breaks. It cannot be open, and app name changes to random words (ex. google docs name changes to "write com.android").
To repair integrated apps I have to perform a full /data/ wipe.
Is it a some kind of protection? How to do it properly?
TitaniumBackup and Link2SD cannot integrate updates to rom properly without errors since Lolipop.
So no one knows?
or just nobody wants to write?
