Screen keep waking up with Touchwiz Rom - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
There is some hardware issue with my S4 that it will wake itself up randomly every few seconds. It has this issue with every touchwiz rom I put on, Kitkat or Lollipop (fresh install so that I know it's not caused by some apps installed later). I'm sure I have tried everything like disabling air gesture, every senor related function that I'm aware of.
I used wakelock trying to track which apps triggered the wake with no luck.
I also tried gravity screen, no luck.
The only fix so far is using a cm rom. I suppose it's because cm rom ignores some sensor info compared to touchwiz. I can stay with cm but I really like the stock camera.
Can anyone cast some light on how to fix this screen wake up issue on touchwiz?
Update: Finally got this fixed. The fix is very specific to this phone. As I mentioned this phone has some issue including home key not working and the random screen wake. After disable home key mapping in Generic.kl and gpio-keys.kl by adding # in front of key 172 Home, screen wont wake up by itself again.

Hi
I've been having the same problems with my phone, I think I've managed to fix the problem,
I went to settings, device, display, then at the bottom turn off 'ambient display'
Problem seems to be gone

[Q] Proximity sensor doesn't stop button pushes

This just started a few days ago, and I haven't been able to find a thread covering the same problem yet.
My proximity sensor turns off the screen during calls, but does not disable the touch sensor, meaning I'm constantly hanging up in the middle of calls, opening other apps, etc. It happens consistently, including when I cover the senor with my hand and tap the screen, which appears to be off.
I've tried several combinations of ROMs and Kernels including Matr1x, Franco, stock kernel, SlimRom, CM 10.1, PA, and Xylon. The problem is still there no matter what I have flashed.
EDIT: Solved. It was an issue with Touch Control. Installed a simple tasker command to disable it while I'm in a call, and then re-enable it when the call is over. Works perfectly.

Do you have a screen protector installed?
Also im not sure if you tried this but open up your build prop editor and add these lines at the very bottom:
ro.lge.proximity.delay=25
mot.proximity.delay=25
Make sure you save the changes. Reboot your phone. Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't do it. The screen shuts off just fine. The problem is that the screen still behaves as if it was on, even though the sensor has seemingly turned it off.

What does this do? My problem is when I use my shoulder to hold my phone against my head. It not only pushes buttons, but does something to make the other caller think I'm not there anymore.

Camera Vibration

so about 2 months ago my note 3 started vibrating when using the camera. I first noticed it in snapchat, the camera wouldn't focus and I noticed the phone is vibrating. Basically every time an app uses the camera and it fails to focus the phone would start vibrating for a really long period of time, which then makes pics distort and the camera fails to focus again which extends the vibration. I thought it's a touchwiz rom error (I was using xnote when it happened for first time (4.4 btw, don't remember which version of x-note it was) but then I tried out some AOSP roms and the stock s5 port and then I came back to xnote v16 and it kept doing this vibration thing. Any ideas what causes it/how to fix it?
I have no idea. Mine started doing this just now. But I noticed it's not just in the camera app, it's anytime the phone is in landscape no matter what app is running.
same issue on N9005
I can't remember when it started but it's rendered the camera basically useless. Sometimes it finds focus and stops the vibration... what I found helps somewhat is shaking the phone rather violently, it stops vibration and then works as normal, untill I close the Camera app and go back into it, then same story. I can't think that this is a hardware issue as it is able to focus and take pictures just fine. This is a major annoyance but I don't think it's unsolveable. I'm no developer but may it be at all possible yo fix this with an xposed module or tweak that completely disables the vibration motor in the phone while in the camera app? Is this a possibility or is the problem deeper than that. I've tried loads of ROMs and it's present on all of them, the leaked Lollipop firmware as well. It's impossible to go back to Jelly Bean AFAIK but before I updated to Kit Kat I didn't have this issue.
I have this problem too
Vibrate when im in camera...not always somtimes
5.1.1
I guess this was never solved?

[Q] Can't hangup or use buttons in call (cmod 11)

Hi everyone,
I've got a used LG G2 with a broken display that I just replaced. Everything works with CyanogenMod 11 20140708-snapshot-m8-d802 (4.4.4), except for the dialer which acts up weird.
When I place or receive a call, the display turns black, and it doesn't come on again when I remove it from the face - seems like the light detector isn't working. I can turn on the diplay by using the power button though. Here another problem araises; I can't use any of the button on the dialer screen. I can't hang up, I can't enable the speakphone or show the numberpad. I haven't done any modding expect for installing a new rom and wiping the previous users' data.
Any ideas?

Sorry. I have the exact same problem. Began on PA 4.4.4+ and now back to stock and still does not work. Have you figured it out? Seems like a problem with the proximity sensor and no way to turn it off. Frustrating.
Sorry to hear that I ended up fixing it by hard resetting my phone with the software provieded by LG. I haven't installed a new custom rom since - instead I use the LG rom and customize it with the Xposed framework and the G2 Settings module. It works great, except for some random update notifications from the LG app store from time to time.
Not really a the solution that I has looking for, but now I can use the phone as it was intended. Please keep me updated if you come about some other workaround.

Proximity sensor triggering Capacitive keys in stock Roms

Hey guys.. I've been having a strange problem with my S4 i9500.
I know there are a lot of people having Proximity sensor bugs but my problem is different.
My Proximity sensor is working totally fine with phone calls and everything seems fine with the sensor.. however whenever the proximity sensor is triggered (switched from far to near) it acts as a press on the menu button (in stock rom it opens the search and in s6/note5 ports it opens multi-window. but the weird thing about this bug that it doesn't happen in GearCM.. only in stock based roms.
it's sounds like not a bug deal bit it is.. cuz whenever my phone reboots 80% of the times it gets stuck in safe mode because of this. and I cannot get out of it untill I do a cache/dalvic cache wipe .
And Ideas ? does anyone had a similar problem? I hope I explained it well.

Does the phone work properly on a stock ROM? Did you try disabling the proximity sensor or disabling the screen-off function?

Yes, i'm now on 5.0.1 (stock rom) it works fine
how can i disable the proximity sonsor or the screen-off function?
This sure looks as a problem with the proximity sensor, the s4 is known for accumulating dust and grease on top of it. Open your phone with a small Phillips tool, remove it and clean it. It will work as new.
Don't think it's a hardware problem since the sensor works properly on a stock ROM.
Sorry, I no longer have an s4 and I don't remember how to disable the proximity sensor in a custom or stock ROM.
