I've wiped cache cleared all data n uninstalled both apps.

It's very odd for another app to loads when I've not tapped on it.

You can try looking in system/data/log /dumpstate_app_error. Copy to your pc, unzip and open with notepad++ and search for fatal or other errors.

[SOLVED] Problem installing several apps

Hi. Had my zee for a few weeks now and generally finding it great! However in recent days I've been having big problems installing apps, either via appbrain, market, or directly. Some work some don't and I can't find a common thread between them.
My zee is rooted and gfreed but stock otherwise. The apps that wont install include angry birds and the BT phone app so they are not by amateurs.
Any advice on how to troubleshoot? I've cleared the market apps cache and data, uninstalled ad free in case it was checking but still no joy.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks
Gavin

What happens? Any error messages. Is it all/every app from market? How about when trying to install apps from apks?
Edit... oh OK, some apps, not all. Do you get any errors or does it just say install failed? I would probably do a factory reset then try again, if fail, I'd start from scratch again.

It just says ' installation of x was unsuccessful '
Which is less than helpful! I've tried the angry birds apk and get the same
As I say its not all apps, some install fine. Is there a logfile somewhere that might give me a clue?

You could see if you get anything useful from a "logcat". Google how to do it. Maybe search "android logcat to SD" so it autosaves to SD. But they are pretty hard to desipher. Start it running just before you attempt the install so you don't get a file that'll take weeks to read through.

I had this exact problem with my old Desire, some apps just refused to install (like angry birds) and it all happend out of the blue. Never did check logs as i changed to the Desire Z shortly therafter. Atleast it's not google account related.
Solved....
Many thanks to ddotpatel for pointing me in the right direction.
I've solved the problem (for now) so though I would post my experience in case it helps someone else.
using adb I produced a catlog on the sd card ('adb catlog -f /sdcard/cat.log') while trying to install Angry Birds.
Reading that pointed me at a problem with '/mnt/secure/asec/smdl2tmp1.asec'
After some more googling, that lead me to the folder .android_secure on the sdcard, and the file smdl2tmp1.asec within it, which I deleted. At the same time I did a chkdsk which did find a problem, but whether that was related I don't know.
Anyway, after deleting that file I tried again and all the apps that wouldn't install immediately installed perfectly without a hitch.
Not sure what that file does, but google suggests that its a relatively common problem, so maybe someone else will benefit.
As always, XDA proves its worth!

Could you tell us what led you to believe it was that particular file,... what kind of error message is there? Just so we know what to look out for.
And don't forget to add [SOLVED] to your thread title.

Gallery force closing

My gallery on my Droid X suddenly started force closing as soon as I try to open it. It did this once before for a few days and then just started working again on its own. It tries to open and then just closes. I tried restoring it through Titanium but that hasn't worked. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Or what is causing it? Other gallery apps from the Market work fine so I don't think it is the SD card.

Try fixing permissions.
Try using the 3d gallery instead
How do I fix permissions? Yes I have been using other gallery apps but I was used to the stock gallery.

Open up ROM manager and theres "Fix Permission" listed. Just click it and it will fix permissions. When it finishes a prompt will appear to reboot your phone.
I did the permission fix with ROM manager and that didn't work. Any more ideas?

Have you tried a factory reset? Just make sure you have your gmail and when the phone reboots put in your gmail and everything you had before will come back. I know a lot of times when stuff quits working you have a bad app download too. But try the factory reset first.
In your file explorer open the dcim folder. Check for any odd files (data) and delete them. Go to settings>apps and find gallery. Open here, clear data and cache & force close. Exit and reopen gallery from app drawer.

Are you sure Play store account is for the NX7 and not another Android device? I am using the same account for NXS and NX7 without any trouble. Just a thought.

I've had this numerous times on my HTC One S but not yet on the Nexus, the last time I was suffering on my HTC I discovered that if I "forgot" my Wifi network and re-registered it sorted it out, it hasn't happened again since then so I can't guarantee it as a fix but worth a try.
Go to settings in the app drawer, scroll down to "Apps" and when the windows load choose the tab that says all. Find Google play store and force stop it, clear the apps cache and data and reboot the device. Then run a Google sync and try the play store again and let me know if you get that error message or a different error message or if it works.

I would try fc Google play, clear data then also in apps fc Google services framework, clear cache and data. Try Google play and you should get an error. Then reboot and try it.

This worked perfectly for me on my GS3, thanks man! My problem was caused by restoring back to an ICS Rom from a JB one. Google Play seemed to think my device was still on JB for some reason and kept throwing me JB updates that were in fact invalid for my ICS device. I did everything else suggested and this was the only fix that worked, no more invalid updates.
If there's anyone that didn't work for, try installing it from the google play webpage on a computer. That's what sorted it out for me.
It's a known issue which is caused by a play store update.
Just keep trying and it will work, but Google will fix this soon.

no, it´s not, i´m still getting this error, tried every possible solution, even fully wiping, and nothing seems to work.
The same problems since 4.3
I am having the same problem invalid package file since I updated my Nexus 4 to JB 4.3.
I had tried every single tip I had found but useless. Some apps update well others dont.
Usualy the small ones are updated and the big one arent. I have being thinking ifthe problem is linked to the download manager. I have poor conexion and no so fast, and I have noticed the download progress bar behaving erratic up and down...
Any help or idea?

[Q] Deleting partially downloaded app data?

Yesterday as I was trying out games that were compatible with my new bluetooth controller, I tried downloading The Dark Knight Returns (since it was a compatible game and I had purchased it when it was on sale some months back on the Play store). Well, apparently I did not have enough space to install the game unfortunately. So when it seemed as if it was near it's finish downloading, there was an error message that was on the status bar that let me know I did not have enough space. So the file did not finish downloading or installing. When I exited the install, i noticed that the storage space error was still present. So I restarted the phone. Still had the same error message and very minimal storage available when I checked the internal storage. I cleared the cache of the Play store, tried clearing dalvic cache on Titanium (wasn't sure if that'd work) and also looked in Root File Explorer for any files that may have been installed by the game. Couldn't find any files so I was unsure where they were located, but the storage was still low. I uninstalled one more app, went back to the play store, tried to continue installing, and it finished install this time. Then I quickly deleted the game and my storage space was back to normal. My question is this. Is there any way in the future where I can delete this data without having to complete an install? I am rooted on JB 2.1.1. I have Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, and some other tools. This storage error has happened on a couple different occasions and I'm wondering if there is still some partially downloaded app data still on the phone somewhere using up space. I have been unsuccessful in my search for an answer to what seems to be a fairly simple problem, but then again maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Any help would be great!
Thought this would be an easy one that somebody would have solved. No?

I would assume its partial download data... No idea how to fix it other than guesstimating your free space and how much the app needs tho...
Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
I'm going to try to do that, but my estimation of available space is not always correct since some apps require more space than necessary to install. I'm referring more to what has already been done so that I can remove anything that may currently be partially installed or downloaded.

(Q) Apps disappear after fixing permissions

Im currently running Echoe Rom V13 4.3 and started getting issues with 'insufficient storage' on app update. The cure seemed to be deleting the duplicate entry for the app in data/app-lib.as the problem got worse I Eventually I re flashed the rom with a clean flash and all was good.
I had a few fc's on an app or 2 and thought no probs, I'll clean the caches in recovery after fixing permissions in ROM manager (as Philz doesnt seem to have a fix permissions option unlike CWM.
After this process I noticed 5 or 6 apps had disappeared from the phone completely. Strange. I'll just restore from Titanium. But trying every reinstall option and the app freezes.
Downloading from the play store brought the insufficient storage error back, but I could reinstall through My Backup.
So all ok now ? except going to update the new apps from Play brings back the insufficient storage message !
If I go into the app-lib folder these apps are showing 1 or 2 duplicates (I.e the file name with a -1 and -2 suffix. Delete these and reupdate and all is good.
However the issue then seems to 'spread' to other apps.
With hindsight this is exactly what happened at the start of the insufficient storage issue and the exact same apps disappeared. I really dont think its the apps in question (eg poweramp and Trustgo security that I have used without issue for years) but im confused as to what is happening and why ?
