Official ETA for Lollipop by OPO - ONE General

Hey friends,
We know there is a lot of excitement in the community surrounding the Lollipop updates for the One, and for good reason. We are just as excited as you are.
We never intended to keep you waiting. Unfortunately, we ran into some unexpected roadblocks. First, there was an unforeseen OS signing issue, which has recently been resolved. Our camera module had stability issues on Lollipop, and we had to rebuild it for compatibility. Several other crucial drivers, including our Wi-Fi drivers, also needed to be updated to work flawlessly with the upgrade. Admittedly, it took a little more time than we had planned, but we only release updates that we are proud of; that means refusing to take shortcuts or deliver sub-par experiences.
With all of that in mind, here are the official release dates for Android Lollipop on the OnePlus One:
CM 12S: The official OTA update for the OnePlus One will be released on or before March 30, 2015
OxygenOS: The official release of our own Lollipop-based ROM will be available for download on or before March 27, 2015
To show you how serious we are about this commitment to our community, we are prepared to put our money where our mouth is. If we miss either one of these deadlines, we will give away five (5) 64GB OnePlus One devices to our fans. Reply to this thread to be eligible.
It’s our little way of saying thank you for being patient and for joining us on our journey to create amazing, user-driven experiences.
Never Settle.

Well there's a bright side. I'll allow the jokes.

Yes they are late.
Yes we have been misinformed by the chatsupport.
Yes we are unpatience..
So give it a few days (perhaps weeks) and contact again.
No need to sign a petition right now.

Later as in months? Sure we can all agree on that. Sony used to be pretty good on updates but lately they've been slacking.
A petition will not do anything in all honesty. It's a waste of time.

You won't be getting that information any time soon. Unless Sony slips something which is plausible, but not at this time.

This is just pathetic. If you want timely updates you should have bought a Nexus. You are not entitled to anything. Grow up.

You purchased an OEM device, thus you will have to wait till it goes through the long process like any other OEM stock ROM. Plenty of companies or OEMs do not give information on their updates until a week or two before they are pushed out to carriers.

I have to agree with all the above comments, the update will be out when SONY are ready I think it is too early for a petition thread maybe in a few months if there is no update this thread would be useful. SONY will just ignore the petition rite now, be patient, otherwise a Nexus is the way to go for timely updates.

5.1 update should be darn close to rollout now!

Asus support has confirmed on the app that the Zenfone 2 5.1 update is under final testing phase.
Here is the Source.
So, it's reasonable to expect Asus to begin the rollout within a week or two. What do you think?
I hope so because 5.0 it's very buggy...

Why? There had been an update every couple weeks it seems. Is 5.1 really that big of any update that it would take so long to implement? Aren't the point releases just bug fixes?

It generally takes every oem six months on average to push a new version of Android. Granted, this phone has been on the market a while, but less than 2 months for the US versions.

I hope that the battery drain, and heating issue will be solved by asus in 5.1
cant wait for this to drop guys,
I hate to say this, but this post is referring to a blog where the guy speculates and provides a chat screen as proof. That being said, I am optimistic that Asus will update us to 5.1 shortly but posting fake reports does nothing but create false hope. The blog referred to is just that a blog and the proof it provides, is just a guy asking the question and we have no proof that the other side of the conversation is an actual employee of Asus tech support...
I think it will happen pretty soon but if it does not, I am completely fine with my phone the way it is currently, as I am sure most of you are too.
Never ever go by what some chat rep says lol. What makes anyone think they actually have any idea as to when testing is done and when OTA releases can be expected?

Agreed.
Asus provides a year or two of Android updates to its devices. We will get 5.1 eventually and even Android M when that drops. Past that, it's up to the community to develop.
Don't know whether Asus will really release the update or not but this hell made its way to a lot of reputed websites Even if it is not true , Asus would be pressurized to roll-out the update as these reputed websites posted this news

Yeah but those sites are just like our cable news channels.... Fox reports something then Cnn and Msnbc report what Fox reported. I just goes to show that people will report anything for the sake of reporting something.
I would also like to apologize to itskapil for my previous post. I did not mean to bash his reporting of the blog on our site but rather wanted to challenge the validity of the source, and that is all. I appreciated the reporting of any info on our phones.

Wow, glad to be proven wrong. Guess the Idol 3 IS popular amongst dev's. This is really exciting news. Good job everyone, maybe the request thread did bring it some attention.
When a dev decides to make a port, does anyone have an estimation for how long it usually takes on average? Is it in the range of a few months? Or maybe more like a year or more?

Android Marshmallow Discussion

In case you didn't know, T-Mobile has just confirmed via their support page the list of devices - Note 4 included- receiving Android 6.0 in the upcoming weeks/months.
https://support.t-mobile.com/community/phones-tablets-devices/software-updates#tmoSUPDocTitle
Thanks,
Awesome. So we'll probably get it by 2017.
Probably about the same time as Android Nougat is released.

Don't you mean Android Zeppole?
Wait... So 5.1.1 was/is being slipped over?
Wow, so really when did T-Mobile fall way behind Verizon as the worst carrier for getting out updates? It used to be Verizon was far worse then all the carriers for getting out updates. I wish Sammy would just make there phones with Vanilla Android and the Spen and features work on those Kernels. Imagine CM with a working Spen suit?
How soon can we expect to see custom Marshmallow ROMs for our devices based on the ASOP Nexus Marshmallow ROMs?
So another 6ish months before we can hope to have an update. Skipping the one we know works. Hopefully Marshmallow isn't nearly as bad as when lollipop 5.0 landed. T-mobile is just about worthless for updates.

Yes, my understanding is that both will receive the update.
Its in Phase-1. T-mobile will take 4-5 months to test the software with their crapware, then it will be ready for us .

lol I feel your pain. I feel that way. But I'm actually one of those guys that hates battery drains and such so i never ever take a major update untill its been out awhile and i know there aren't issues. That's why I'm still on 4.4.4 running Hyperdrive RLS3 cause 5.0.1 i constantly hear the battery is noticeably worse on 5.0.1 then Kit Kat.
So Updates aren't crazy important to me, it's easy for me to just sit back and wait.

BaHumBug! We, Tmobile customers, should have already learned the lesson by now that this only means a 6-7 month wait for 6.0 (possible bugs too) and most will move on to different phones/carriers by then. I love my Note 4, I think it is still a great overall phone but Tmobile sucks with updates.
Also can't wait for those that will come to this thread lets say about 2-3 months from now that will ask "so did 6.0 come out yet?" or "Any news on 6.0?".
If this article is to be believed, there seems to be a certain Note 4 missing from development by Samsung....
I'll give you a hint... It starts with a T and ends with a Mobile.

Wrong. As of the moment I type this we're still expected to receive the final product even though we aren't getting a developer preview. This is according to the developer overview page on developer.android.com. Now, it's impossible to determine what happens in the future. Google may decide not to update the Nexus 6, in which case developers on the forums here will take over, just as they have for all the other Nexus devices.
What we don't need here is people making baseless accusations without facts to back them up.
