U can flash 511 on the 512 since they're both wifi - just 16gb and 32gb respectively. I have the 512 too but always flash 511 firmware

Theres a prerooted version atm, so i imagine SuperSU survives but theres no working recovery so i'd wait a while

Update: More than on 4.4.4 I get no space left on device on google updates of installed software

Honestly, I haven't seen any difference in performance offhand when comparing to the .167 KK . Battery life improvements to be determined.

It just started rolling out, it might take weeks before you'll get the OTA

For SGP512 no region got a Lollipop update so far.

the z3 upgrade has been out a week and hasn't escaped the Nordics yet so don't get overly excited

After flashed the NCB .690 FTF file and used it extensively in the last 3 days, I have to sadly say it is a piece of sh*t! Other than the washed out theme that comes with Lollipop, these are just a few of the major problems that I have found:
- The auto rotation does not work most of the time. For those who wants to see it themselves, download the Words on Tour and try rotate the screen to play.
- It takes 17 hours to charge from 14% back to 100%, (yes, that means I can only use it every other day) In the 4.4.4 I had, it took only 7 hours, so I could always charge it fully during the night.
- It takes 7 hours to totally drain from 100% to 14%, I did not change my use pattern, and before when I was in 4.4.4, I used to have 8-9 hours. Was it supposed the 5.0.2 last at least 90 minutes longer?
- It is much slower too, you don't have to take my word for it, try open the Album or Photos to load a folder with 3,000 pics on your SD Card. (I have a 128GB SanDisk MicroSD that I have been very happy with its performance)
- If you are like me, using Apex or Nova Launcher, it is significantly slower when loading its settings. It was not like that at all.
I am going back to 4.4.4 with root. If you have fix for the problems I have, please share with us.

Auto rotation seems to work for me. At least with the apps I have. The words game I believe is set to "portrait", but not using it under KK, I can only guess. Some apps are hard coded (guess they didn't think tablets would use them)
Charging seems normal. About 1.5hr or so to charge it 25% back to full.
Stock Gallery seems to be ok (400+ photos and some videos)
Jury still out on battery life.
As with performance, I can see no difference from KK, Antutu rates it the same at 42k.
A lot of this could be with using an older kernel. I suspect Sony is going to wait a couple weeks to see how the initial OTA goes. Acer did the same process. Hopefully they'll build an updated kernel when they really push things.

No idea why you are having these problems.
I am much more pleased with 5.0.2 in comparison to 4.4.4 which had utterly atrocious battery life, and was just plain ugly.
I get a full charge in an 2 hours (5% to 100%), and am very happy with the battery life.
I would highly recommend upgrading.

SGP521 here. Bought it yesterday and immediately after turning on tablet received 2 OTAs - first to .167 and then to Lollipop.
No problems noticed so far. Since i own Z3 Compact, i am already familiar with Sony's implementation of Lollipop. Very nice.

hmm anyone else flashed the 511 version on an 512 and having blue status bar on various apps? for example chrome, maps, facebook and more. and have anyone of you no playback of any video such as youtube and various internet site's?

You flashed an 16GB FTF on an 32GB tablet, flash the correct FTF and wipe to see if it solves the problem

Battery life improvements?

I'm kinda curious about this. I'm so astounded by how much it's changed that I feel kinda obligated to post...
Some background:
I have an Xperia X10 from o2 UK and my battery life was /diabolical/
I would unplug the charger at 7:30am, and head off to work.. I have gmail and an exchange server (I hate moxier!) on PUSH mode.. battery life?... by 3:30-4pm at the latest my battery is at 10% warning!
Incidentally I don't have any aftermarket battery.. just the stock one.
Changes:
I ran the root.. so now I have a rooted R2BA023 install.. then I got set cpu and enabled a profile for screen off which locked the max CPU at 384mhz and min at 256mhz.
New batterylife? I dunno, I'm still counting.. 57 hours since last connect and 22% battery remain.
My actual question:
Anyone else done things to their X10, and what battery life are you seeing as a result?
Greetings friend,
To be honest i found out from my testings that firmware .20 with set cpu on auto had the best possible results till now for me.
Now i am on .23 firmware and testing it . i am having a full charge now and i will revert with my comments.
But the results you posted are amazing. Could you please give me your activity ? Calls - sms - wifi etc
Your post:
New battery life? I dunno, I'm still counting.. 57 hours since last connect and 22% battery remain.
Please keep as posted.
Thanks and regards
Vatis
battery has improved a lot(dint root my phone)..its been 5 hours since i updated my phone at dat time it was 64% n after 5 hours i see my battery reduced to 59%% dats awesome
20min of wifi use(timesscape update,installing app from market,facebook)..7 calls(max 12min of talk)..11 messages n 15 min of asphalt 5..loving da new update thx SE
Baseband: 1.1.27
Build No: R2BA023
Yeah people are seeing about 48 hours average standby with the newest firmware (I might note that before debranding the newest my phone would update to was R1BA016! What the hell are o2 UK doing?) however mine is now at like 60 hours and still counting. Getting close to the threshold at 20% battery remaining but still.. more than acceptable now.
Usage:
Little bit of music playback, about 30 minutes..
bunch of missed calls
constant push emails (my exchange account is pretty busy, it'll see dozens of mails per working day), several of which I reply to...
about 30 minutes of talk time
alarm clock every morning
few apps from the marketplace downloaded/installed
few minutes of webbrowsing
about 10-12 photos.
roughly 10 minutes of video recorded.
setcpu will help out your battery, but the r2 firmware greatly improves on the r1 firmware in terms of battery life. i am not rooted and if i leave my phone unplugged and with wifi off the battery life barely changes at all while sitting at idle.
did you have the r2 firmware before rooting? i bet most of the improvement is coming from the updated firmware
I fully charged my mobile and after 5 minutes i lost 5% of battery i dont know why but firmware . 23 seemz thats not working for me , i will keep it for a bit but already thinking to go on . 20 again. I domt know if i am doing something wrong.

Wow!!!! Battery life absolutely sucks.
I have a Rogers X10. I just picked it up yesterday, so I have done nothing to it yet. It is now almost 5:00 PM where I am and it is dead. I have not even made a call on it. I have not turned on Wifi. I have not turned on Bluetooth. The display is set at about 50% Email is not set to poll. I have surfed a bit. I have sent and received a couple of texts, and downloaded a couple of apps. Otherwise I have just explorered the phone a bit....not a lot.
I'm returning it tomorrow unless you guys have some great ideas. I'm a bit hesitant to root it and flash a ROM of any kind because of the fact that I may return it. I will gladly root, annd flash if I'm confident I can improve the battery life.....and not underclock the processor to any great extent.

What is the firmware on? If it's on R1FA014 then update it ASAP you'll get about twice the amount of battery life you currently get.

most people found that it takes about a week for the battery to be going at full capacity
and then the r2b...20 update pretty much double my battery again
with everything except gps/bt on i easily get over a day and a half , thats 3g , push email , auto screen brightness , wifi on when the screens on
your most likely using the old firmware which has issues where it uses a lot of power when on standby. with the latest official SE update my phone maybe a 1% per hour when on standby. im very impressed
i dont use anything that needs root to achieve this.
oh and if your worried about warranty then you should still have a warrant with SE if you debrand and use there own updates from SEUS . i did this myself (debranded from uk vodafone) and when i broke my usb port they swapped my phone no problems
thanks guys. I have no idea what firmware is on it. I'll check when I get home and plug it in. Do you have a link to Se's latest firmware, or to debrand it?
Dave
you don't need a link.. go into settings, about phone, software update.. update now...
or it's it's not available over the air then you should try downloading SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Software).. and follow the on screen instructions.. sometimes the update come out on one of those before the other.. also bear in mind that the new firmware hasn't completed it's rollout yet so may not be available for your region or brand yet..
Check out the other thread that lornova started which shows where, and which brands the update has reached so far.
How do I find which software version I have? I'm on Orange UK and have done run an over-air update (which did provide me with some update) but my battery life is still poor - unplugged at 10am today and it died at about 11pm.
I don;t mind de-branding or rooting my phone if that's what I need to fix the battery life. How do I go about this?
Will rooting also effectively de-brand my phone? It is difficult to see any Orange branding anyway! Would this help battery life? What other benefits does rooting have?
Sorry, I'm a bit of an Android novice (almost 18 months on WinMo 6.1!)

first thing you should do is plug into seus and update to the r2 firmware, next thing you can try is to download a home screen replacement launcher from the market as I have read that this also helps to improve battery life. I use adw.launcher, it is free and works great.
I have owned the milestone, HTC magic, nexus 1 and the x10a and all of them needed several battery cycles to break in the battery
The R2Bxxx update has changed the phone a lot in terms of performance. Im quite happy with my x10 now and I wouldnt bother rooting it. My 2cents..

Hi friend
Im also from India. Im planning to buy X10. Sorry for asking couple of questions that are irrelevent to this thread. I need to know some stuff...

> Loudspeaker volume
> Is the phone get heats up while using it for more than 15 mins
> Battery life
> Music volume
Pls pls help me with your comments and it'l be of a great help for me to decide on this phone
Thanks is advance
Im currently using the 023 firmware and also setcup with lots of different profiles. And surely, its helping my battery to last long
I'm losing like 12% or so/hr when using 3g/wifi.. I just don't get why its draining it so bad!! hopefully someone has a really good answer??
R2ba020 rooted, same was happening with r2ba023 root an all!
please try avoid simple answers like task killer stuff, startup, etc.. I'm pretty used to all them now hence y I'm looking for a really good solution?
everything else is usually working pretty well..
thanx

D6653 5.1.1

Hi all,
I grabbed this update from xperifirm as soon as it came out for the 6603 then the next day I think the 6653 came out and I flashed that firmware.
Both worked perfectly on my d6653...
Anyway after a day and a bit of hard useage, my feeling is that the battery is performing really well. Possiblly as good as 4.4.4
Could just bebthr factory reset and all that, but it is operating really well so far.
How about the camera? were you able to test it as well?
Yeah it seems good. I'm not too much of a photo officianado, so I can't tell you too much. However it does point and click very quickly. Starts up quickly, it seems great.
It has a new Bluetooth quick select option which is cool for that and WiFi. No FC's as yet.
I get terrible battery life on 5.1.1 just 13 hours where as it used to be 3 days. I've been unplugged now for 22mins and the battery is down to 94% from 100%

I am still getting that camera heating warning issue. what to do? 3-4 pics and camera shuts off

SM-T715Y now receiving Marshmallow

So I just got the update notification on my 4G Tab S2 region code XID (Indonesia). F/W is on SamMobile as well, and would have installed it if my battery wasn't running low. Will report back soon!
so far it is exactly what I expected - GS7 software on a tablet. Great battery and none of the performance issues the first gen Tab S had when first receiving Lollipop.

Actually, battery life became worse on this update. I lose 1% of battery life in under 3 minutes without doing anything, my tab was just idle in the home screen.

Battery definitely drains faster in this update. It would take me 7-10mins for me to lose 1% of battery life in Lollipop. But now it would take me 3-5mins to lose 1% of battery life. I'm considering right now to go back to Lollipop to be honest, I can't stand this battery performance.
Other changes I've seen was the boot, it uses the S7 boot animation and there wasn't a boot startup sound.
Are many still waiting for the update?
Is everyone experiencing the rapid batter drain.
No update here.

Charging time estimate seems to be gone from notif dropdown (no charging notif at all) and lock screen (just says charging, no more x hours x minutes until full)
Marshmallow works fine. The battery issues were and will always be there for first few days till the firmware settles in.
One problem i faced was not audio output on one of my bose earphones. I still get the output on an older pair. The new ones work fine with every other device including a note 5. Just not this tab. Any suggestions to make it work ?

Hopefully the battery issues are just temporary just like what you said, I am getting tired of this battery drain. This never existed in Lollipop.
About your earphones, maybe the Tab doesn't recognize it?

Not to my knowledge. Dont have a microSD in my tab to test.
Still waiting
I upgraded from nexus 7 to the T715Y galaxy tab s2 8". Solid device, battery performance less than optimal, software updates non existant. The nexus still gets monthly security patching and got the android 6 OTA update in short order. Now 18 July and despite indonesia, panama, phillipines and other neighbours in asia having this update, still no word from Samsung. Tried Kies, side sync and OTA update button mashing... nothing.
In fact Kies said there was an update, which i installed, wiping my tablet to get .. you guessed it, the same darn version i had. 5.0.2. Would recommend the tablet if not for the lack of security and software updates.
Still waiting in Australia
Edit: finally got it about a week ago

New Battery Drain Information - stock unrooted firmwares

Hello, let me cut to the point. Testing a few nights while sleeping from around midnight to 7:30am on different firmware versions, i can confirm.
- Stock, unrooted, firmware verison Taiwan, 253: BetterBatteryStats drain overnight : 0.7% per hour
- Stock, unrooted, firmware version Hong Kong, 253: BetterBatteryStats drain overnight 0.3% per hour (Update, last night was 0.1% per hour, woke up in the morning with 100%)
In conclusion, not all firmwares are created equal. If you have the dreaded battery drain problem - try another regions firmware. The HK version definitly does not has the drain problem, and its quite a generic firmware, so you can customize it to your region no problem.
In Both firmwars I had WhatsNew, and all smallapps hidden/disabled via the adb "debloater" app.
PS: Taiwan is original firmware of my phone, I am expat living in Taiwan.

At now i have this Bat.: -5%(98% to 93%) [0,5%/h] at night in airplane mode.
I try last night HK firmware. And now -10 % in airplane with turned off some apps like google backup, most of xperia apps and etc. Usually i use firm for Russia region also Xpower 3 or 4.In both have a same result 5-7 % per night in airplane.
how do you disable whatsnew without root?
I think the firmware 253 is the same for battery management for all versions.
I think a good thing to do sometimes is clearing cache in recovery. For me it help when performance become slower.
But few parameters can really change your battery drain like the Temperature in your house, usage during the day, network level, running process, humidity....
Maybe that's because some differences of LTE bands support?

I know most people most people would like buttery is the same for all version. That why I am posting. Caches etc all cleared, phone got full wipe when switching firmware.
This test is verifiable and repeatable. I tested both firmware at east 2 times each before posting, and the results were the same every time. Same phone, exact same apps installed, same firmware version - different region = different battery drain.
Can someone upload .253 stock kernel with SU and DRM fix for me? I want to do some further testing but I'm not able to extract it myself for the next week.
the Wifi-allways on bug
did somebody changed already the default:
Settings->Wi-Fi->Settings->Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep
(the good old bug - if you look at the other threads)
one solution I had for battery drain even in marshmallow is to remove the sd card. Yes, I do know it defeats the purpose but I'd prefer not having to worry that my battery will drain by 30% overnight.
SDcard?... did you try another one...
How can I know which firmware do I have? The number is 32.0.A.4.11
32.2.A.0.253 here and I'm seeing Android System keep awake for over 11 hours.

Any luck with the battery drain?
Some good news for me and maybe for others may be helpful.
I flash clean new 305 FW and modified stock kernel from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/customized-stock-kernel-32-2-0-305-6-0-1-t3477464
With root i delete some system apps (mail, gmail, gdrive, maps, whats new, all about small apps and etc.)
Now 3% at first night(9h) after flashing FW in standby mode and all data off without stamina. Its first good result for me.On all others 253 custom kernels was ~7-10% at night sometimes more...
I stay on this FW and kernel.

Battery life on Oreo

I flashed the stock image and i found the battery life abysmal. Not even a day
7-8 hrs tops with barely any usage
Anyone has experienced the same issue
Give it a few days and see if it improves. Sometimes drastic updates can have adverse effects on the battery

I have one of the best battery life on O right now and I'm not pointing fingers to anything but google.
I was excited after hearing "Android Vitals" and they are on point about it.
Try to flash a custom kernel like EX or Flash though Ex's kernel isn't fully committed with the O source code but you may at least try it. On a side note there are still apps out there that aren't coded properly for O which would probably hinder your angler so look out for them a lot.
Thank you everyone for pitching in
Like I mentioned I flashed the stock image and gave it 2 days but as I disconnect the phone from the charger at around 9 AM (100%) , by 3-4 PM I am being left with 30% or less . By 6 PM it starts beeping as it hovers 15%
I barely use the phone at work. I just do occasional messaging (text and whatsapp). I removed all apps except the ones that I really need. No games...etc
I did flash the other day the EX Kernel ( Beta for O) for which I have the paid manager version.
It drives me crazy as it seems to be draining at a very fast rate with no apparent reason.
What's even more frustrating is that the built in battery app doesn't shed much light. The process that takes the most battery is "System" but that's all.
Maybe it's time for a new phone

Yes, I went back to paranoid nougat, because I got the same
battery experience as you with O. But I'm reading that you use
what's app, do you can play a video if someone sending you one? Since the O previews for me the videos are just loading but not playing, and that's only the case by using android O, doesn't matter if I use what's app or what's app beta.
I got the 2% battery drain bug and sometimes i dont, ive reflashed oreo about 8 times lol, sometimes it dies at 15%..

I haven't had any issues with any of the apps. Whatsapp works well I can play videos see the pics etc
I think I am going to get back to Paranoid
I read somewhere I needed to flash first the Nougat stock before attempting to put any custom ROM. Is that what you did?

No, just my twrp backup, you can stay on latest bootloader and radio. Strange thing with whats app, may oreo doesn't like my internal, if final release come I will complete clean flash with fastboot.
Edit: check latest Pixeldust rom, it's like pa with a bit more useful features
I think my phone may be defective
Even on Paranoid the battery seems bad
The miscellaneous was on top of the list . What does that mean .... ?
Battery update.- Running kylo kernel r9 , working great so far just a few personal tweaks applied.

I'm not sure what you're expecting, give the rom some time and charges to settle battery. How old is your phone? If you don't have patience flash stock image and completely wipe your phone if you think something is faulty.
Well...
I used to get like a day out of the phone . With my minimal usage I would disconnect it in the morning and still have like 30-40% when getting back home in the evening.
All of the sudden one day I was just on my way home and I noticed the phone was off. I tried power it back on but it kept on flashing red as it was totally drained. Since then battery went downhill.
I'm not crazy and I do not have unrealistic expectations but 5 or 6 hours of battery with almost no usage seems a bit off. I gauged just by looking at the numbers being something ridiculous like 10% an hour.
I did wipe and flash the stock few times. Oreo then Nougat
Since the issue persisted I am thinking the phone just went bad.
If your battery is faulty, then it's faulty, that's why i asked how old your phone is. Ain't there battery health apps to take a look how worse it is.
Yeah I think it's maybe 1yr and half old.
I'm starting to evaluate those Essentials and Pixels 2.
Or better get a Pixel 1st gen if they drop low enough
Sounds to me like your battery is worn out. I'm amazed that you got 1.5 years out of it because I've seen posts from people who didn't even make it a year. You mentioned that it's draining 2% at a time and shuts down at 15%, which are pretty strong indicators that your battery is shot.

Nokia 8 (pure android) is an option too, but I would change the battery, n6p is still a very nice piece of hardware. Essential
is a hype phone til now.
Do you have a trusted source you can share for a battery?
There are so many floating around and I'm not sure about their quality

Hard to say, I will run accubattery for week, after a first charge it doesn't look very promising for me too, and my phone is a bit over a year old. may some other users know a better tool or app, but this one doesn't seem to be so bad. Let's see what happens after some charges.
Akku Gesundheit=Accu Health, sry it's german here.
If you search for a replacement there is a thread here on xda
for the 6p, OEM battery or something like this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/accessories/oem-battery-t3534410
Edit: may you try to do a rma with your 6p, like this lucky guy

Same for me, with Oreo it's even worse
Update, kylo kernel r9, works fine however my phone now dies at 5% instead of 15%-20% much better but still.
