[Q] LG g2 coloring choice - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hell to all, I was about to get the LG g2 but then I started to wonder which color should I get, so I want to ask you all, I know it's up to personal preferrenec, but my question is about the dark lines around the display. It seems that white one looks better but wehn the phone is on you can see the rdark lines around the display, which is not such a problem with the dark one, seems like they combine with its dark suroundings.
Can you give me your opinion, if u have white one do you even notice them? Do you own a dark one? Is it better in your opinion. Because I saw many images and videos and sometimes they look really big and sometimes you can barely see them. If you could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks

This is trivial, you won't notice this unless you make yourself self-aware. May I suggest posting this question in [Discussion] What's your next smartphone / What should I buy. Maybe someone there can recommend you a phone with a slim borderline between the screen and phone.

Different looking colors on 2 Incredibles?

I've got two incredibles side by side. Both are apparently listed as 'samsung_oled_display' with dmesg.
Right one has a purple tint that is more obvious on low brightness. But colors pop more, more contrast, saturation. On high brightness, whites and blacks look more right.
Left is slightly brighter on equal settings. Has a slight yellowy tint that's more noticeable on high brightness. But nowhere near as obvious as the purple tint.
Any thoughts? What looks more like the typical Incredible display people get?
it looks like maybe some of your LED backlights aren't as bright, or out completely. notice the shadow on the edges of the two sides? i don't notice a difference other than in one of the pictures, though. maybe do a better job taking pictures that aren't as shaky/blurry?
Best I could do, the incredible is my best camera and couldn't use it.
And which picture and which phone are you referring to?
I'm more just wondering why there's such a difference, and which one looks most accurate to what everyone else has?
3rd picture is the one i noticed it on. however, i wouldn't say....with the pictures i have in front of me....that either are too far off from what "everyone else has".
if you're that concerned about it, call VZW.
I had the same problem with a replacement, had to get a new refurb that didn't have a pink screen. Customer service is not aware of the issue, you might have to take it to a store and even the techs might not see it.

I did, this is my replacement ha... I'm not going to ask for a third, I'm just deciding which one is more like the rest.
And you don't think either are too far from what others have? Between the two there's a decent variation, Samsung amoled manufacturing just vary that much?
Only the first picture can I see a noticeable difference
I'm aware of people reporting a pinkish tint, but I didn't think its the same, since this comes off as purple to me.
And yea the first picture is the most obvious, but if you just look at the color difference in white, gray, black for the other 3 pictures, you can tell they're different tones/shades.
Honestly the left one is 'warmer' in tone and the right one is 'cooler'. Though right has better contrast and is overly saturated.
I think I'll probably keep the left one even though the right one is hands down amazing looking in full brightness, but looks all purplish in low, which is basically the setting I'll be using the phone most in.
Amoleds don't have background leds, the pixels emt the light themselves, as fat as I know

OLED doesnt use backlighting
Just pick the one that is easiest on your eyes. Yes colours will vary differently by batch (not usually by this much but really I can't tell a lot by these pictures). Personally to me overall one doesn't appear as bright as the other, so if they are using the same profiles, I'd take the bright one (but that's just me).
I think you are making a mountain out of mole hill. They both look ok, yes different but acceptable. It's a phone, you are not going to be doing Photoshop or high end video processing. If it bugs you, by all means take it back and ask for an exchange.
Oh I did, that's why I have two
And no I'm not, I can easily ask for a third. But like I said I won't.
I just thought I can get some expert opinions from others, -and- start a discussion.
There was a thread regarding evo's @ i6.photobucket. com/albums/y204/blu3g/002and003.jpg
that got some discussion.

They get dimmer over time, so yes the brighter one if in newer condition.
I'd prefer S-LCD to AMOLED anyday just for the fact that I dont have to worry about the screen dimming over time or burning in.
My girlfriends is like that. We both got our phones at the same time last June, same screens. She lost hers, and while her new one is AMOLED it's pinkish. It's only REALLY noticeable when the screen dims.
.... Seriously? You're complaining about a tint... A TINT!!!! the phone still works the same right? my replacement has the purplish tint too but who cares nobodies going to look at and say oh man your phone has a purplish tint what a fag lol
He was just asking a question because like most people on this forum, we are intrigued by how tech works, and we like to ask why do gadgets so the things they do, he wasn't complaining. Everybody who is saying that he needs to stop complaining needs to calm down, this isn't 4 chan. If you don't know why the screens are different colors, then there's no point in you commenting on this thread, especially if its to talk down to somebody under false accusations like some of you are.

i jsut got a replacement in the mail a week ago and i saw the same differences between my old one and new one. And i've heard of this happening to other people. Here is a thread all about this. I havent taken the time to read it but im sure it has the answer http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656128
P.S. Garrett, you sound like a real douche
I've seen similar in my phone. I had to turn it in for a replacement and the first thing I noticed when I booted the new phone up was "hey, that white looks more pink than the original phone." Just to make sure I wasn't insane, I showed my wife the new phone and she immediately pops out "hey, that looks pink."
It's not bad enough that it's really a problem, just a little different, and the difference only really pops out at low brightness. I'm not going to re-return over it. At least this one doesn't have the spazzed out and possessed optical joystick that my first Inc did.

new galaxy s2, several screen problems

hello people,
So this is my first ever post on this website, even though ive read alot through these forums already. Im wondering if i should change my phone because im on a 2 year unlimited contract wich is expensive. So here are my problems:
1. yellow tint on the left side, it's much worse when in a dark room and my eyes are adjusted to the dark (i know alot of people are experiencing this).
2. terrible banding, I even experience banding in android market and on my dialer buttons. i see banding when watching my own pictures in the gallery, but when i watch em on my pc it's gone.
3. black/grey 'splashes' or 'stains' (dont know what to call them) when looking at a black background. Very noticable when my eyes are adjusted to the dark and it's very ugly,it kinda looks like the screen is glued on the device very unprofessionally.
so what's your opinion? should i return or wait for a firmware update that atleast removes the yellow tint and banding? im not rooted atm because i dont want any warranty problems now.
thanks
Since you've read a lot here, you're aware that every one of your issues has been reported before and have their own special - make that very, very special - threads.
Post there and prepare to meet some very interesting people. You'll get opinions. A lot of them. Whether you'll be any the wiser afterwards is a different matter.
You should return it back if you could, when you choose for another one, you should go with a friend who has a good screen or choose in a batch the one that is brightest.

Yellow tint on screen

I have the Verizon LG g3 and when I compared it to my LG g2, on white backgrounds the g3 screen is clearly more yellow or warm compared to the g2. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Do you think it's worth to try to exchange it for a New one?
Sent from my LG G3
The G2 was actually too blue, as are most phones. True white is slightly creamy to most eyes. Most people are used to white being Titanium Dioxide white they use to colour plastics, cosmetics and ceramics, but that is actually blue.
However the G3 is a bit too yellow, it may fade over time, sometimes it does. I rooted mine and adjusted the screen temp a bit.
The screen on mine is too yellowish for my taste, will get an exchange device tomorrow, if this one will be as yellowish, I will return it immediately and go for another device.
I don't care if the G2's screen is too bluish or whatever, I really liked it's display, but the G3 screen is to dimm and "warm"

Could you post which app/setting you did this with?
I loved the "cool" display of the G2. That G2 is still my favorite phone. Even having the G3, I miss it. Still my favorite display also (color and temp wise).

Just got the replacement, sadly it's display is even more yellowish, so it will go back too the next days, will get a used G2 instead and wait what this year will bring on.
Really sad because I really like the G3, but can't stand the display...

I used Trickster MOD and set the colours to 238,238,255. Its still a little a warmer than my G2, but its no longer beige! Slightly yellow is right for whites, but my G3 was almost brown!
Now I just need to fix the back light, its too dark on auto.

Really sad that people are too used to wrongfully calibrated screens. I even rant to LG with straightly opposite demand a while back http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2299888 and seems like they listened and made a right decision to calibrate G3 perfectly. Their OG Pro had too blueish display around 8000K with almost green yellows, my eyes were bleeding
Not too sad I guess, as white on the G3 looks like there is a yellow screen protector on the screen...
Next thing is that the yellow screen in combination with its low contrast just looks awful.
But everyone has a different taste, so it will look nice for a lot of people, but not for me...
And by the way, why is it so many twin threads around here? Wasn't it better to discuss pro and cons of G3 display in the already existed and full of comments thread as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2782251 ? I think it would be more proper and lead to more constructive way of discussion

[Q] Lollipop background is blinding white

Please don't jump all over me. I searched for a solution for the new blinding white background that arrived with Lollipop, but I couldn't find anything. Android Central had nothing to offer and neither did any of the other Android forums.
I am legally blind in one eye. Bright light causes great eye strain and acute pain in my eye. Because of this new blinding white screen, I have great difficulty using my phone. I run the brightness below 10% and then read the screen with my weak eye closed. It sucks and it's ridiculous that I have to do this. I emailed Samsung and they basically told me to pound sand. I will see if the American disabilities groups can help me with that but, until then, is there anything I can do to dull the teal color and blinding white background in the notification panel and settings screens? I used Nova to change the app drawer background color to gray and am using the Hackers keyboard to replace the white keyboard. Beyond that, there doesn't seem to be anything I can do. No, the vision settings under the accessibility options doesn't help because it turns that ugly bright teal into blinding neon red to contrast with the white text and black background. Good grief.
I haven't rooted my phone, but I will as soon as I do a new back up.
I thought amongst all you programming gurus, someone might be able to help me. Am I missing a setting? Samsung told me to download a theme. Great, Big help.
Thank you for your time.

Thanks. The problem with all the dimmers I've tried is that they dim everything, which of course makes it difficult to read text.
Well, I've read a lot of complaints on the web about the brightness issue, but I guess everyone in here likes it. I love my Note, but what good is it if I have difficulty using it. Imagine if every time you looked at your screen, you got an eye strain headache and your eyes watered and hurt. It's like if MS installed a blazing bright neon yellow background on your laptop that you couldn't change. I'm sure at least a few people would seek out a fix to adjust it.
Thanks anyway. I guess I'm on my own.
Custom ROM that allows for mitigating the blinding white background?
So, I found this thread http://www.quora.com/Why-does-Andro...ckground-instead-of-black-Do-people-like-that They mention custom ROM's. Are there custom ROM's in here that either dim the background of the notification panel and settings screen or allow for customization? I don't even care what else is effected, as long as I can get rid of the blinding white background.
I hope this is the right forum for this question.
Thanks.
Hmm, you could downgrade to KK ? I downgraded a few days ago too.
I know what you mean. I suffer from severe migraines.
Anything with a white screen I can't use for more than 2 minutes at a time. After that every glance feels like knives in my eyes and skull.
Even as a designer I don't understand this obsession with white backgrounds. It drains battery and white on a screen, particularly LED, has been proven time and time again to be very bad for your eyes. It is also common knowledge that light text on a dark background increases legibility. I fully blame Apple for this disgusting white trend.
And until I can choose my own background, or at least choose between white and black, I'm staying on KitKat. Maybe Android M will use its brains instead of 'look at meeeeeee I like to ruin your eyesight!'
Sent From My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Using Tapatalk
Your only option is to go back to KitKat for the time being, I think.
I feel you though, I had the same headache thingy when I read stuffs on a dark/black background, I guess it depends on the person, how the eyes react to a colour, some prefer the dark, some the other.
There is a PC forum site called hardforum.com, and I can't even visit that site even when that site is pretty darn good. The first time I was reading stuffs there after five minutes or so I felt like I'd vomit on the keyboard!

That's because whomever designed that forum (Is that Vbulletin/proboards? Haven't seen one of those in ages!) is obviously colourblind and 5 years old.
It's not just you, that forum's design is giving me a headache as well, a double one. One from the nauseating colourscheme and one from the painfully 2001 design.

Does White LG G2 Black border (outline) bother you in any way?

I'm considering getting G2 as a second phone for various reasons because it's really cheap. I want to buy white version because I hate black ones due to a lot of fingerprint smudges and dusts that I always have to wipe constantly, otherwise I would be really annoyed.
But we all know that the white G2 has the white border or outline around the screen, so from pictures I see online, it looks really weird and ugly. I want to know your opinion if it actually bothers you when using it? I do a lot of home screen customizations and designs, and I'm wondering if the black outline will make the home screen design ugly.
I really hope to hear your opinions, if you have the white one!
Thanks!!
The black border is very thin and it's spaced evenly so you don't notice it at all in person. Pictures make it seems more pronounced than it is. Go for it.

If you did not mention this concern in your thread, I didn't even notice it:laugh:
I had my white LG G2 for about a year now:good:
Used to think it would before I bought mine in 2013.
Hasn't bothered me yet
